I am so sorry that it has taken me a while to update this story. And I am sad to say this but this will be the last chapter. Although I love this story and feel like this can go on forever... I still have to end it at some point.
I love the reviews and comments on each and every chapter and I can't thank you enough for sticking with it as you all did. I love the fact that you guys took the time and clicked on the link every time I have updated. I hope you all like this chapter and I hope to see you around for the next story.
Yes, I've been thinking and over thinking about a new story and it's kind of driving me nuts. I think once I get the first few chapters typed up everything will come flowing. I know how I want it to go, I just don't know how to start it. Sorry for being vague, but that's all I can give you. I have no title yet and I could give you a summary but where's the fun in that? kidding.
Oh and one more thing, I didn't re-read this and I'm sorry!
Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with pretty little liars.
Coming down from her high of life Aria fell back onto the bed and looked up at the ceiling as if it was to tell her answers. At that very moment when she closed her eyes as if the wheels that were spinning were to tell her to jump she would.
After everything that her life has thrown at her she still manages to mess up the one that- that she knew deep in her heart to be true.
Turning ever so slightly she managed to roll out of bed for what felt like a life time. Today was the day of the re-grand opening and with caterers coming in left and right and Lacy spending most of her time with Ezra. Aria felt abandon.
For the first time in her life she had made the right choice in telling Lacy who her real father was.
"Lacy, baby, I need to tell you something" Aria heaved feeling a little discomfort, "I want to talk to you about Ezra Fitz"
Lacy's face told her that she was confused and worried about her new friend. "What about him? Is he okay?"
Aria nodded, "He's fine." Sucking in a deep breath Aria picked up the book that Ezra had written about them. The book that Aria felt that betrayed them. "This book, this book is about my relationship with Ezra Fitz. It talks about the past and how we met and fell in love." At that line Aria's eyes began to water, "He's your father!"
Unable to look at her mother Lacy just sat in her spot in shock and unable to speak. She just nodding as if she had already knew and the truth of the matter is. She did. She just didn't want to believe that her father was the man that she had so kindly and easily taken to "When I was in New York with Grandma Ella, "Lacy looked up at her crying mother feeling sorry that she had taken over a year to tell her this, "Last year we went to a storage unit and cleaned it out just before they moved to a town house. I found a stack of your old journals and old books. I took them. Grandma Ella said that you wrote in them every day and that you wouldn't mind if I took it. So I did. I read them, all of them and I read about Ezra Fitz, 'my father'. I read that he was a decent guy and that you both fell in love at first sight. I read that he was the one to comfort you when things got tough. Even after the two of you broke up the first time." Lacy took in a breath, "I read about your friend Alison, and Aunty Hanna, Aunty Spencer and Aunty Emily and how the four of you were being stalked by someone you thought you knew!"
Aria nodded, "It was a tough couple of years for all of us. But that doesn't excuse the fact that I never told your father about you and vice versa. I wish I did. I wished every day that you had him in your life."
Lacy let out a few tears, "I know you only tried to protect me mom. But, I always felt like something huge was missing and it was. Up, up until that day I saw him standing with you in the banquet room. When I walked in with Jay, I knew that he was my father just by the way we made contact." She looked down at her shaking hands, "I know I'm still young and people always are saying that 'when you get older you'll know. But I know what I'm talking about. I know what's going on around me and I'm not stupid"
Aria looked at her daughter in shock for being a lot smarter than she is, "I know. And I don't look at you like that. I see a bright young woman when I look at you and I do. I do wish all the time that I had treated you differently." Aria took her hands in her and gave a squeeze, "I made a huge mistake and I hope that you'll be able to forgive me."
Lacy hugged her mother and let out more tears as she cried along with her, "I already have mom. I love you and dad so much. I just hope he knows that"
"Ms. Montgomery, there's a call for you on line three!" the doorman yelled as he rapidly knocked on her door. "Ms. Montgomery!"
"Thank you!" Aria opened the door, "Have them transfer the call to my office. I will be there shortly."
LINE BREAK
It was only four in the afternoon when Ezra decided to iron his tie and dress shirt. He hasn't had a clue as to why he agreed to be Lacy's date to this event. He and Aria hasn't spoken since the day that she told him she wanted to be separate parents. That she wanted nothing to do with him.
Ezra looked over at the couch to see Lacy's on her IPad on some school chat sight talking with her friends. He wondered why she took too him so fast? Why she didn't have any questions and what did Aria told her?
Placing the iron down on the board he walked over to Lacy and took the IPad from her and turned the chat off before placing it on the coffee table. Sucking in a deep breath he turned back towards her as she looked at him in shock. "I'm sorry. I just wanted your full attention." As nervous and shaky as he was; Ezra felt the need to get his heart out, "I need to know why?"
"Why what?" Lacy asked pushing her body up straighter
Licking his lips he shook his head, "Why are you here right now? I haven't been in your life since you were born. We just met a couple of month ago and yet"
"It's because I already knew about you. I felt like I knew you for years" she admitted looking at her fumbling hands as she went into the same story that she told her mother, about finding her journals and reading them over and over again. "I'm sorry!"
"Why are you sorry?" Ezra told her, "I'm the one that should be sorry for letting your mother walk away so easily. I AM SORRY." He corrected himself, "I am very and truly sorry for everything and I will make it up to you!"
"You already are!" Lacy grin, "By coming with me tonight you are making that big step, that jump. I never had a father-daughter dance. I mean I have, but I've never went with my real father. I want to spend tonight with you"
Feeling his heart swell with happiness Ezra lent forward and placed a kiss above her hair line. It was the first kiss that he felt like meant something. Something special. When he pulled away he looked into her eyes and gave her his boyish smile that he was known and famous for. "I love you so much. I feel like I know you. You have your mother's heart and spirit. And I will always respect that."
"My mom loves you. I know she does." Lacy smiled, "Do you love her in the way that she loves you?"
"No," he shook his head honestly and watched as that happy smile left her beautiful textured face, "I love her more, more than she'll ever know."
LINE BREAK
As guest arrived and gathered around the great room, Aria smiled and waved to people that she knew from across the room with thoughts of Jay not coming home in her mind. She really wanted that special day where she and he would get the right and long closure that she wanted or maybe so needed.
She spotted Ezra and Lacy at a table with Malcolm. Even though Aria wanted Malcolm to work, she also wanted him to spend that wanted time that he needed with Ezra.
Aria looked up at a few announcements were spoken and how Keith thanked each and every one of his investors 'which he likes to call partnership' for their time and hospitality. He thanked each and every single employee for making that Hotel what is was. And when he did, he looked at Aria. He thanked her for being the pushy and bossy woman on his staff.
Aria smiled as she walked up on stage and took the microphone from him. "Thank you Mr. Liberty for that warm welcome. But we all know that nothing but good work and dedication is what made this hotel what it is." She hugged him, "I want to thank each and every one of my staff for putting up with me for the last three months. For being by my side when times got tough." Aria looked around the room, "for the lovely and wanted guest that was able to make it here tonight we want to thank you. From the bottom of our hearts nothing would be possible without you. Without your contribution to this establishment that we like to call home. To the men and woman here we are a family. We fight, we argue over simple and silly things that could have been solved without the confrontation." Aria looked at Ezra as she spoke and in looked into her eyes, "Someone once told me. 'You must give up a life, in order to have one that's waiting for you!'" she looked around the room as they all looked at her confused as to where her speech was going, "I never knew what that meant" she smiled again letting Ezra know for sure. That what she was talking about was only for him, "Until I meant you!"
Aria laughed at herself into the microphone as people started to whisper, "I'm sorry. As I conclude my speech. I will leave you all with this. We are all special and unique in our own way. We have thrived to get to where we are and we are proud. We welcome each and every one of you with open arms, rooms and great service. Enjoy and we all hope you come back to see us!"
As Aria handed the microphone over to the DJ she walked off stage and allowed the staff members to pass out the first of a seven coarse meal. She sat down next to Carol who had been re-hired under some new rules for her to follow and Keith. Who sat down next to her on her right. She laughed and smiled and made that small conversation follow as she was asked a direct question.
As the fourth dish came along Ezra found himself just passing the food on his plate around. He wondered what was going through Aria's mind when she recited what he had said when he was leaving Rosewood for Hollis. He asked himself if the feelings she had for him were true. If there was a future for them after all?
With these questions in mind Ezra looked up from his food just in time to see Aria getting up from her spot at her table and seeing her take a walk out the doors. He wondered with knitted eyebrows and a confused expression written all over his face; what could she be doing right now that would make her take a walk?
Taking a look around the crowded room and seeing everyone's attention engrossed in their own worlds and conversations, he excused himself from the table.
"Where are you going?" Lacy asked after Ezra stood and she swallows her food. "We're not done eating."
Nodding his head in a tight smile knowing that Lacy got the attention of some of the people at their table he lowered himself down so only her ears could hear. "I saw your mother walking out the door. I'm just going to go talk to her."
Lacy smiled, "Can I come? I haven't seen my mom since Wednesday!"
"Sure" he agreed unable to say no to his only biological daughter-well child anyway. "Let's go" he gestured with his hand as he pulled her chair out with the other.
As they walked out the front entrance door Keith stood up and marched towards them on full force. He stopped Ezra and Lacy before they even got the door closed. Now in the main lobby area Keith gave Lacy a sideward hug and a very warm and genuine smile. It's been months since they last saw each other and Keith saw Lacy as his own granddaughter.
"Where are we going?"
Lacy laughed "talk to mommy silly"
Keith chuckled, "Why don't you go and find her in her office? I want to talk to your father for a few minutes" he looked up at Ezra, "It'll only take a minute"
Lacy smiled at both men before taking off to her mother's office. Ezra sucked in a breath and dug his hands in his front pockets before giving Keith a tight smile. He hadn't talked to Keith since that day in Vegas and he didn't know what was to come. Keith gestured for Ezra to take a walk with him and braced himself for what was to come.
"What do you want from me?" Ezra asked getting straight to the point.
A little taken back from his forwardness Keith shook his head, "Believe me. I deeply remember what I told you back in Vegas. And although I know what I said to be true," he paused and stopped to face Ezra, "I was also wrong"
Shocked by what he had just said Ezra took his hands out of his pockets and placed him at his side, "Which part?"
Laughing a little too loud for Ezra's liking Keith smiled, "The part where I thought that you and Aria should have called it quits. Although I felt at the time it was a great decision and all. I think that at this very moment what Aria really needs… is you!" Ezra tiled his head to the side a little and ponded over the thought that he knew that to already be true. "I know that it seemed as if I only wanted the business to get done and yet I still believe that to be true." He sucked in a breath, "I don't see the spark in Aria anymore. It's as if she's over thinking things and wants to go in different directions. Aria's light isn't there and I need you to fix it before she leaves here."
"What? What do you mean by leaves here? Where's she going?"
"Slow your roll" Keith held his hands out, "She's just leaving the company and expanding beyond all of this" he gestured around them, "She actually applied for a few teaching jobs and with my amazing recommendation I don't doubt for a second that she'll get it."
"Wow," Ezra let out, "I never knew any of this."
"Aren't the two of you still talking?"
Ezra nodded, "Briefly. We only talk when it applies to Lacy. But other than that I had no clue on her plans." He rubbed the back of his neck out of habit, "She tried to talk to be the other day. But then Payton and I were-"he stopped, "I'm sorry."
"Why?" Keith questioned, "I knew this wasn't Aria's plan and it was only a matter of time before she found her true passion. I'm the one sorry that I kept her here for so long. I knew what she wanted to do and I'm the one that came up with more options for her." He looked down at his feet before looking back up at Ezra, "Look, I'm usually a man of great power and when it comes down to what I want I get it." He arched an eyebrow at Ezra, "But when it comes to the people that I care for and love the most I have to learn how to let them go and set them free. And right now, this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to let Aria go and I'm going to let her free. It's not what I want but it's what's best for her and Lacy. Aria planned on leaving on this day for the last three months. I know she planned on leaving for a while and I think that you and Lacy had a big advantage of that. All I really want to tell you is, I'm sorry and I hope that you and Aria, along with Lacy have a happy life. I'm sorry to the both of you for putting you in a bad place with your relationship and I hope you can forgive me?" he stuck out his hand.
Ezra looked at his hand before nodding and looking up into his eyes, "I assume you don't usually do this?"
Laughing at Ezra's small joke Keith nodded, "Not in the slightest, but when I'm wrong-I'm wrong."
LINE BREAK
Aria grabbed the last few of bags that Keith had brought for the staff. It was more so his assistant but never the less he did pay for it. It was just a small thank you gift that he gives out every year and this year. He was giving away a weekend spa trip for two. A little extreme and way over priced when you add everything together but it's just a small token of his appreciation. Last year Keith had given away a meal for two in their cities best restaurant.
She closed the safe and turned around to see her daughter standing there with a full smile on her face. It was a million dollar smile and she couldn't help but place the three envelopes onto her desk and open up her arms. Warm hugs.
Aria smiled into the hug as she went down to her knees and embraced her even more. "I've missed you!" she murmured into her hair, "I love you so much"
Lacy giggled, "I know!" she sniffed her mother's scented hair and pulled away, "Dad said I could see you before he talks to you!"
Feeling a little confused Aria just nodded her head and sat up a little so she could take a seat on her chair, "What about?"
Lacy shrugged, "I don't know. But Keith is talking to him right now."
Aria nodded again and patted the chair next to her and watched as Lacy jumped up and placed her hand onto her lap, "I wanted to talk to you about something. Something very important" she started off slow, "I'm not going to be working here anymore. I've actually went out and gotten myself a new job. It doesn't pay as well as this one, but my hours will be more open for some me and you time."
Lacy smiled her million dollar-awards winning grin before jumping off the chair and hugging her mother to the full extent. This was the best news that she had ever heard. Spending time with her mother. It won't be face time talk or monthly weekend visits when she could. It will actually be in the same state at the same time, "Are you sure mom? I know how much Keith Liberty and the hotel means to you?!" she questioned praying silently that her mother wouldn't change her mind.
"I love you. And it's the right choice for us." Aria sighed, "I've missed out on so much and I don't want to waste another minute."
"It's about time" A voice heard from the doorway chimed in and only could be recognized by non-other Ezra Fitz. He stood tall smiling his famous grin arms crossed over his chest in his fancy suit and tie, "I was beginning to wonder when you would leave this job and join the real world" he joked taking a seat next to his two girls. WOW, just the thought of them in the same room without any fighting or bickering gave him chills, "I wanted to talk to you about something. And I think the time for that is now!"
Aria looked down at Lacy and smiled as she gave her daughter a little look saying go join the party. Lacy rolled her eyes and nodded, "That look needs to change mom." She grumbled, "I never get to hear the good stuff"
"What makes you think it's good?" Aria questioned just as she was about to leave
Lacy winked at her, "we talk. Very interesting stuff"
"Oh really?" Aria looked at Ezra, "You talk about me with our daughter?"
"Guilty" Ezra held his hands up and watched as Lacy closed the door. He sucked in a deep breath as the room became silent for a brief minute, "I wanted to ask you if this decision to quit had any effect of me what-so-ever?" Aria looked at him confused as to way he would word it that way, "What I mean is. Was I in that train of thought?" he blushed
Aria giggled, "You did cross my mind a few times. But mostly it's because for the last few weeks as I watched you and Lacy interact. There was this part of me that wanted to be in the picture." She paused considering her words, "I watched for years on how Jay and Lacy were with each other. Their friendship and style. And wished that I was with them."
" I watched how you are with Lacy and how protective you are with her and how you used to be that way with me" Ezra looked down at his hands as Aria spoke, "I know I screwed up with you. I made a mistake letting you go and I know that you want to see other people or maybe you are!" she let the tears that she build subside before placing a reaching hand on him, "but I love you. I always had and I always will."
Ezra looked up to meet her sincere glare, "I'm in love with you Ezra. And if you'd let me. I want us to be a family. I want to be able to walk around with my daughter and her father and I want us to be proud of that."
"I am proud Aria" Ezra cut her off, "I'm so proud of Lacy and the way she's growing. I'm proud of you and all the accomplishments that you've done. I'm proud of the way things turned out." He stopped himself, "I'm not proud on how things went down between us. I wish things were different but there not. We are a complicated pair and I want to know if we get back together again, you won't go changing your mind? I need you to be in it for the long run"
Ezra feared the worst. He really did love Aria but he needed to know that their relationship was forever. Although he believed that true in his heart, he also needed to know if Aria knew that for sure. Aria stood up leaving a few spaces between them and walking over to her desk drawer that she had yet to clean out.
"I went to the mall a few days ago and saw this" she brought out the box and placed it in his hands. She then got down on her knees and watched as he opened it. "Ezra will you marry me?"
The question and gesture itself blew Ezra's socks out of the water. He had no idea that she would pull something like this. He opened the box to reveal not only one ring, but two. It was a his and hers' matching set. He took out the rings and held it in the palm of his hand as he looked down at her. She had a tight smile on her face and he could tell that she was nervous, "Are you serious?" he questioned his voice cracking as it did, "Are you really serious about us this time?"
Aria nodded, "I am" she answered honestly, "I want you. Right now, tomorrow and forever. I need you in my life and if you're willing. I want to be a part of yours?"
"Yes, Aria" Ezra stood up bringing Aria with him, "I want everything about you. The stubbornness, the craziness, the love making," he kissed her deeply and passionately, "I want you forever!"
As tears ran down both their faces Lacy found it the right time to open the door. She looked up at Keith, who too were ease dropping on them and smiled, "My parents are finally back together" she whispered
Keith nodded, "And getting married." He looked at the happy couple who hadn't noticed that they were being watched, "How do you feel about that?" He whispered
Lacy watched as her parents shared a kiss and stared deep into one another's eyes, "Complete." Was her finally answer and Ezra looked up and motioned for her to join them. "My life, is complete now, we're a family!"
In all honestly this wasn't how it was supposed to turn out. I had something really and completely different but I broke my flash drive that had all my ideas and this last chapter on it. I basically rewritten the whole thing out of frustration. I just don't know how I did it and I tried to fix it, but it just wasn't working. I feel like I rushed into the whole Aria and Ezra part and could have had them talking forever on their problems and what needed to be fixed. But figured if you read all of my chapters, you would think into the minds of the characters and know they knew what the problems were. I mean they only repeat over and over again.
I hope you liked the ending and if you didn't I'm sorry.
Okay enough of my rambling and onto the reviewing part. Leave your comments, I love reading them. Even the nasty ones because they make me laugh.
Love you all, and I can't wait till season Five! See you around.
