A:N/ GUESS WHO'S BAAAACK?! Yes, yes, I know. I am so sorry! Life has been pretty hectic lately! So, since I was in a long hiatus, you guys deserve a long chapter! Or maybe two! Here we go!
"Girls, stop giggling and pay attention!" Aria scolded, lightly tapping her foot on the marble floor with crossed arms. The lessons had been already underway for a week without any problems, but the warm weather and the soldier recruitment had the girls always sighing and glancing at the young men below in the training courtyard, but today, they seemed to be happier than their usual sighing and drooling.
Rie and Lea looked up, guiltily, as they left the window and the spectacle they were gazing at.
"Sorry, mistress! We were just enjoying the view." Lea giggled like a little girl who had a big, juicy secret that she wanted to tell.
Rie nudged her sister, sharply, but she was nonetheless smiling also.
Aria raised a delicate eyebrow with a questioning look and walked up to the window the girls just had left. She ignored the girls' protests and looked down at the spectacle the girls' were just gawking at moments ago.
There stood King Gilgamesh, proud and regal, his bare muscular chest glistening under the bright light of the sun with a long sword in his right hand and a bow in the other. He shouted orders to the men before him who were all in a line and listening, intently, to their king.
Aria sighed, loudly. "You girls need to realize that King Gilgamesh is nothing but an ordinary man." She said, lightly, rolling her eyes at the girl's slack-jawed reaction to Aria's apathetic demeanor towards their king.
Lea seemed to sputter and protest as she stomped her feet in irritation while Rie seemed to be deep in thought at Aria's words.
"I think you're right, mistress." Rie finally said in a pondering tone.
Lea looked at her sister with wide eyes, "R-Rie?!"
Rie shrugged, nonchalantly. "King Gilgamesh is way too admired and every girl always has a crush on him. Too ordinary and boring."
Aria smiled in triumph and patted herself on the back, mentally, until she heard the next words that came out of Rie's mouth.
"Besides, Master Enkidu is way hotter." Rie mumbled, sheepishly, turning a bright red.
Aria groaned and slapped a hand on her face. Today was going to be a long day.
Gilgamesh surveyed his new recruitment of soldiers and let out a pleased sigh. They were a strong and eager batch and he felt the excitement and adrenaline shooting throughout his body. His kingdom will be expanding and his rule will be throughout the vast lands.
He closed his eyes and let the hotness of the sun kiss his face.
"Your Highness." A woman's sultry voice called out to him. Gilgamesh scowled. Who dare call him when he was basking in his greatness?
He turned around and faced the voice who called him. It was one of his beautiful consorts and his most recent favorite of the week. He regarded her with a cool gaze and she returned with a sultry pout.
"What is it, woman." He demanded to know what made her think she could come out in such skimpy clothing in front of the young men who were gawking at her.
"I just wanted to make sure we were—" The consort was interrupted by the young men making noise as they began to separate into two separate lines, as if making way for a person walking within their circle.
Gilgamesh and the consort turned to the direction and as the consort gritted her teeth and glared, Gilgamesh found a small smirk forming on his face.
Aria walked through the men with furrowed eyebrows and a grim face as she acknowledged Gilgamesh as her target. She didn't even seem to notice the young men and their formation for her which formed a true line-up for royalty. Gilgamesh even noticed the abashed and longing gazes the men's faces showed as she passed them with a little smile from now and then. It was only when she saw Gilgamesh that her face went back to being frustrated.
As she appeared in front of him, the consort opened her mouth to speak, but Aria held up a hand.
"It's official business, please leave us for a moment." Aria said, respectfully. The consort's mouth snapped shut and her face seemed to turn tomato red, but she backed off with a begrudging bow.
"Wait in the tent." Gilgamesh ordered, in awe of Aria's cool demeanor, but he was already waiting to turn his rushing adrenaline from training to battle lust with his favorite consort. The consort seemed to bask in that little victory as she smirked and disappeared in the tent.
Aria simply rolled her eyes.
Gilgamesh turned to his men and raised a hand, signaling them to continue their training. The men saluted and continued their rounds.
Turning to Aria, Gilgamesh brought his hand to tuck a stray hair that got loose from her brisk walk. Aria slapped the hand away.
"Oh? Feisty, aren't we?" He chuckled as he crossed his arms and gave her a curious look.
"Put a shirt on." She said, calmly. Gilgamesh blinked.
"What?" He asked, taken aback by the randomness of her order.
Aria sighed and brought a hand up to massage her temples and the other pointed to the direction of her window that faced them.
"You're distracting my girls from their lesson." She explained, exasperated, as if she had been talking to idiots all day and Gilgamesh being one of them. Gilgamesh looked up at the window and could make out two heads poking out of the window and could make out squeals of embarrassment. He shook his head, clearly amused at the situation.
Gilgamesh examined the woman in front of him, amused and annoyed at the same time. He began to laugh. His laughter turned into a boisterous and charming laugh that the young men stopped what they were doing and the consort had poked her head out of the tent to see what the commotion was about.
Aria was irritated.
"Ugh, nevermind!" She let out in exasperation. Throwing her hands up in the air, she turned around and stomped away.
Gilgamesh calmed down at this point and watched Aria's retreating figure. He could tell she was muttering curses about him as her hands made motions that would mark her as a crazy person.
But, he also noticed those seductive curves that he had once touched and still craved.
He licked his lips and headed for the tent. It was time to release himself of his thoughts and maybe, just maybe, the whore's curves will feel like the goddess's he once had the pleasure to caress.
Enkidu sighed as he gave a scribe the last piece of paper he had to write for the day. The expedition of gaining land was such a tiresome and troublesome process. Night had fallen over Uruk and the stars shone, brightly. He let out a sigh of relief as he felt the coolness of the desert take him to peace.
This was his favorite place to relax and let go of all the anxiety he had. The kingdom, the gods, Gilgamesh, and Aria were all forgotten as he sat on the top of the castle and stared at his origin of birth.
"THERE YOU ARE." A voice screeched, his peaceful thoughts interrupted.
"Speak of the devil," Enkidu groaned in his head, "and he will appear."
Enkidu looked to his right side and saw his unexpected visitor, "or in this case, she."
"Yes, Aria, may I help you." Enkidu stated, monotonously. Aria glared at him.
"You seem to be in a chipper mood." She shot at him, sarcastically.
"Same goes to you." Enkidu said, irritated. They both glared at each other, daring the other to give up.
All of a sudden, laughter erupted from both of them.
As it died down, Aria went first with her complaint, "Gilgamesh irritates me."
Enkidu sighed, "I don't understand why you guys just can't get along."
"My girls were distracted by him and his cocky ass. Literally." Aria hissed, annoyed.
Enkidu gave his sister a coy grin, "Oy, you were looking, weren't you?"
This statement prompted a pink blush to grace Aria's face, "NO."
Enkidu chuckled, "It's okay, Aria. Nothing to be ashamed of! I even noticed!" He said, throwing his hands in the air.
Aria sighed at her brother's no-boundaries attitude. Silence took over them as they both stared at the starry sky.
"Hey…do you ever miss it up there?" Aria asked, quietly. Enkidu seemed to be taken aback for a moment, but he smiled at the sudden question.
"I mean, yeah, sometimes." Enkidu admitted, softly, "That's why I come here to have peace and quiet from time to time."
Aria acknowledged his answer with a small nod.
"Then, why did you leave?" Aria asked, risking a bold question. Enkidu closed his eyes. He knew this day was going to come and he had prepared himself to answer it, but something told him it wasn't the right time to tell his little sister. He opened his eyes and gave a small smile.
"It's complicated, Aria, but one day, I'll tell you. Just got to give me time, you know?" Enkidu answered, softly.
He expected Aria to get up, angrily, and call him a coward and leave. But, he felt a light pressure on his shoulder.
His eyes widened when he realized it was Aria's head leaning on his shoulder.
"Okay, brother, I'll wait." Was the quiet answer of Aria before she let out a precious snore, signaling the fact that she fell asleep.
Enkidu closed his eyes, and as one tear slipped out and down his cheek, he gave a soft reply that only the heavens could hear.
"Thank you."
Aria found herself in her bed when she woke up. Also, she noticed that the King Gilgamesh was in her room looking out at the view in her balcony.
Aria swore and tried to get up, but her legs got tangled in her sheets and fell on the ground, not-so-gracefully, directly behind the balcony.
Gilgamesh turned around once he heard the noise and let out an amused snort once he saw Aria on the ground, rubbing her back in pain.
"Goddess, huh?" He asked, sarcastically, as he approached Aria with a helping hand. She glared and brushed his hand away as she got up, rather roughly.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, crossing her arms and turning red. She just realized she was wearing no coverings for her breasts. Uh oh.
To her satisfaction and relief, Gilgamesh didn't seem to notice as he tilted his head in his usual arrogant manner. "Just wanted to say good-bye." He said, with a charming grin. Aria didn't seem to notice, but she felt a strange sensation on hearing of his sudden going away.
"You're leaving for the expedition already?" She asked, eyebrows raised and her mouth opened, slightly.
Gilgamesh nodded, tucking her hair behind her ears in his usual way.
"Don't worry. Enkidu will stay for a day or two before he follows me." Gilgamesh reassured, assuming her shocked demeanor was caused by her brother's sudden leaving. Little did he know...
Aria coughed a little to release the pressure that was building up in her chest. What was wrong with her?
"Oh, I see. Well, I hope you have a great time, I guess." Aria offered her goodbye, awkwardly.
Gilgamesh chuckled at the sudden shyness of Aria. He turned his back towards her and raised his hand in a wave, but before, he could even leave, he felt a hand grab his forearm, gently.
He turned around, curiously, and found his waist encircled by strong arms.
Aria was hugging him.
Aria didn't know what came over her. But, she felt Gilgamesh stiffen in her arms and she immediately regretted her sudden decision and mentally kicked herself for doing something so rash. Plus, she hated him and his stupid kingdom. What the hell was she doing?!
But, Gilgamesh groaned and Aria felt his arms encircle around her, practically crushing her.
"Aria..." He whispered in her hair. Goosebumps raised on her arms at the sound of something so intimate and longing.
His hand grasped her chin, forcing her to look at him. Aria felt herself freeze as she read the lust and longing in his wine-colored eyes.
"You make me crazy, you know that?" He muttered, before closing the gap between them.
Aria widened her eyes as she felt Gilgamesh's lips on her's. Her body began to react and her eyes closed in response. She didn't know what she was doing. She didn't even know why, but this moment felt good. It felt right.
A memory shot through her mind. A sense of deja vu?
Everything came back to her. With a loud gasp, Aria pushed him away, forcibly.
Gilgamesh looked at her, shocked and curious. Aria looked at him with her left hand on her mouth and her right arm, pointing at him, shakily.
"You...Me...We...this can't be happening." Aria started muttering, her hands now in her hair as if she had a random headache that was killing her.
"What? What happened?" Gilgamesh asked, alarmed, slowly trying to approach her.
Aria stared at him, blankly, "We had sex. That night, we...slept together." She said, calmly and monotonously.
Gilgamesh froze.
"Aria..." He said, softly, trying to find the right words to explain. Aria held up a hand. It was clear to the both of them. Gilgamesh knew and didn't tell Aria. Everything that had happened moments ago was to be forgotten. The gap between them now bigger than ever.
"I think you should leave now." Aria stated, turning her head to the side, as if the wall was now interesting to look at.
Gilgamesh's eyes were now unreadable and blank. He stood up, straight and stiff. "If you wish." He said, at last.
Without another glance, He left.
Aria fell to the ground in a crouched position. Tears falling steadfastly to the marble floor.
"Hmph. We warned you, didn't we?" A calm voice behind her stated, nonchalantly. Aria stood up and assumed a fighting position in response to the intruder.
Her eyes widened and her mouth formed into an "o" at the sight of the person before her.
"Ishtar...?"
