I finally got to download the DLC for Sonic Adventure 2 for my PS3, it was the first 3D Sonic game I played (I missed out on Adventure and I actually started on Battle with my GameCube way back when). I started to listen to the themes (secretly the only reason I got the DLC ^^; ) and I suddenly had the urge to write...I figured "what the hell?" and went with it, turning on my laptop and starting to write. I checked which story I'd updated more recently and wrote this since Child of Chaos was more recent and nearly done anyway, so please enjoy this long awaited chapter! Read and Review everyone ^^
A soft groan came from the young white bat as her eyes fluttered open, becoming conscious.
"I was beginning to think I'd put you in a coma...no one I fought has stayed out that long." Looking up, the full blood thief found the hybrid guardian looking down at her. The older girl looked a little concerned as the younger slowly sat up.
"...Is it smart to put me so close to the very thing I'm tried to steal?" The bat asked, gesturing to the Master Emerald not five feet from her...it seemed that the girl had moved her into the shrine while she was unconscious.
"If need be I can beat you into unconsciousness again." The glowing green eyed girl shrugged, showing clearly that she didn't see the other girl as much of a threat now that she knew her strength. "Oh, shut up." She growled after a moment, glaring at nothing...it seems she was odder than the other had thought...
"Why am I up here?" The brown eyed girl questioned, looking rather confused.
"I wasn't just going to leave you in the hole...besides, I needed to fix it." It was the red and blue girl's turn to gesture, showing the now flat land that had been the hole made from her punches.
"No, I mean..." The white full blood sighed, trying to think of how best to explain what she was thinking. "...why you throw me off the island?"
"I wasn't sure if you could swim...besides, what would that solve? You'd have just come back again, you seemed rather determined. I figured it would be easier if I just asked WHY you want the Master Emerald...perhaps I could help, if it's a good reason." The hybrid explained. "First things first though...my name is Femur the Echidhog, what's yours?" The bat stared at the other with wide eyes...she'd tried to steal the Master Emerald, so what kind of guardian would try to be her friend now?!
"...Mascara. Mascara the Bat." Femur smiled at hearing her name.
"Good...now, why did you try to steal the Master Emerald?" There were a few minutes of silence, only the sound of the rain breaking it...the younger hadn't noticed it had started storming. "Like I said, I might help you if it's a good reason. I don't lie, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth."
"I...I want it because...because my mother is sick..." Mascara explained softly, looking up at the older girl suddenly. "She said that the Master Emerald had special powers, she said it could heal her! So I had to get it!"
"I see..." The moments of silence that followed was deafening to the young bat. "Are you strong enough to carry her here?"
"H-Huh?!" The flier asked, eyes wide again.
"While it's true that the Master Emerald has special powers...you need a special machine, or a guardian, to use that power. I'm afraid I can't leave this island and every machine I know of that could use it were destroyed a long time ago...so you're going to have to fly her here for me to help you." The undead girl explained, placing a hand on the Master Emerald and causing it to glow softly as if to prove her point.
"You're really going to help me?!" The look on the wanna-be thief's face reminded the guardian far too much of her little brother, making her look away uncomfortably.
"As long as you won't take the Master Emerald I have no reason to disagree."
"Thank you Femur!" The glowing eyed girl froze with as gasp as the brown eyed one hugged her in happiness, said full blood taking to the air. "I'll go get Mother now, we'll be back soon!" Before the island dweller could so much as speak the other had disappeared into the rain, beyond the peach girl's want to go after her.
"...Was that really intelligent, telling the girl that you'd help her?" Masa asked from his spot beside the girl, whom sat and leaned against his true body.
"I don't know." She admitted, closing her eyes. "But...she seemed too upset for me not to help, I figured the two must be close."
"Still, to believe someone simply because of their young age is-"
"Did you sense a lie?" Femur asked.
"Well...no, but-" Again cut off by his guardian.
"Then there's no problem Masa." The girl pointed out. "Besides, it'll be..." She looked suddenly at her hand, slowly pulling it into a fist and opening it again just as slowly. "...it'll be nice, to use you to heal someone, don't you think? It's been a long time since I've had the chance to heal anyone with your power...I'd like to to that more often, if given the chance."
"I hadn't thought of it like that." The echidna admitted, the hybrid smiling at him with a soft giggle...he could be rather close-minded sometimes, or perhaps just paranoid. "...With her mother sick, that Mascara won't be returning until the storm is over." He pointed out, to which his guardian stretched.
"Good, that means I can go back to relaxing like I was before she came." The peach girl exclaimed, smiling wider before she moved to lay down with her back against the stone floor of the shrine and her hands behind her head as a sort of pillow. "You should probably relax some too, shut off the projection I mean, we don't know how much energy we'll need to use to heal Mascara's mother."
"That's true." The tanned boy agreed, the green echidna projection beginning to fade. "Mascara, huh? I...I'm sure it's nothing." He murmured before disappearing, leaving only the undead girl and the powerful emerald in the shrine.
The name Mascara reminds Masa of someone, but is it just coincidence? On another note; I image Femur having a dislike of lying similar to promises being important to Shadow, so I don't think her the type to really lie. Nonetheless, hopefully the next chapter of my other story will be up soon (unfortunately my sudden inspiration to write is now gone :( ) so wish me luck on that and my life, see ya'll!
