Blame the delay on Pokémon Y, it's kinda addicting...finished it in four days though, so I won't be able to use it as an excuse anymore ^^; Hope you all enjoy, read and review.
"Femur! Femur!" The guardian looked up as she felt someone enter the island's barrier, seeing a familiar white bat child flying towards her with a satchel slung over her shoulder.
"Hello Mascara." Femur waved with a smile, it had been a few days since the girl and her mother hand left...in turn, it had been a few days since Shadow came to live on the island until she was a better fighter. He was currently out gathering food for himself, now that she'd shown him all around the island and where all the food was.
"I brought the cell phone Mother asked me to and a present too." Mascara stated with a smile, placing the bag in front of the older girl. The hybrid opened the bag, first pulling out a red cell phone...it looked somewhat cheap, but it wasn't like she needed one that was really expensive anyway.
"Cell phone, check." The undead girl said, pulling out a small box the size of her palm. Opening it her eyes immediately teared up for inside was a small emerald in a diamond shape on a white choker, the emerald looked like a miniature Master Emerald or green Chaos Emerald. "Mascara..."
"I know that Mother and I like jewelry...but I didn't see you wearing any, so I got you one that looked like the Master Emerald on a nice choker so you can wear it and not worry about it breaking if you have to fight." The younger girl explained with a smile.
"Can you help me put it on?" The glowing eyed girl asked, the other nodding. She walked over and carefully took the choker and did it up around her neck, just over where her turtle neck shirt stopped. It ended up sliding down under the neck piece of her shirt, but she still smiled while the brown eyed girl frowned. "It's still there, even if no one can see it." The red and blue fighter pointed out, the white flier nodding after a moment of thought.
"So, you like it?" She inquired, looking a little nervous.
"I love it...thank you so much Mascara." The older girl pulled the younger into a hug, causing the other to make a small sound of shock before she smiled and hugged her back.
"I'm really glad you like it...it won't be the only present, but I thought it was a good start." Her ear twitched suddenly, causing her to pull back and look at the island's guardian. "Is there someone else here?" The child asked, looking concerned.
"Oh, him! He's...an old friend of the family, he's here to teach me to fight better. His name is Shadow, Shadow the Hedgehog." The teenager explained with an ever so slight blush.
"The Shadow is here?!"
"You know him?" Femur questioned curiously.
"Of him anyway, Mother told me a whole bunch. They used to be partners in work before Mother left." Mascara explained.
"Well, now I guess you have the chance to meet him yourself." The guardian smiled. "Oh, but...you might not want to tell him that you're Aunty's daughter, I'm not sure if he's angry at her for disappearing or not." She added.
"Right." The flier agreed with a nod just as the hedgehog they were speaking of walked into the clearing surrounding the shrine.
"Welcome back." The undead girl said, the ultimate life form giving a small nod to show he'd heard her. "It seems I have a friend over today."
"Friend?"
"Her name is Mascara the Bat. Say hello Mascara."
"Hello Mr. Shadow!" The bat exclaimed with a smile as he reached the top of the shrine. He stared at her for several moments without word.
"...You're Rogue's daughter." He stated simply, the girls both making a small noise of surprise.
"Well...yes, I am." The brown eyed girl agreed with a smile.
"Is she...well?" The red eyed man asked, the young girl clapping her hands together happily.
"Thanks to Femur she is! She was really sick...but Femur healed her with the Master Emerald." She explained happily.
"You're control of it is impressive." The skater said as he turned to the guardian, causing her to blush.
"N-not really...I-I'm more connected to it than the previous guardians is a-all." She stuttered, causing the younger girl to laugh to herself and earning a glare from the older girl, causing the child to smile sheepishly at her.
"Was it difficult?" The Chaos user sounded a little concerned.
"It took more Chaos Energy than I expected." The glowing eyed girl stated. "B-but I was fine after a little rest." She added quickly, seeing a flash of more concern in the older full-blood's eyes.
"I have to get going I'm afraid, I'm a little busy today." Mascara said, taking to the sky. "Mother said she'd come to visit Femur, Mr. Shadow...maybe you'll still be here when she comes to visit." She suggested after a moment of thought, picking up the satchel she'd used to bring her friend's presents.
"...Hopefully." Shadow agreed after a moment himself. "Say...hello, for me."
"I will. Goodbye Femur, Mr. Shadow...oh, and Masa too!" With that the little girl flew off towards home.
"Masa?" The hedgehog asked, the hybrid laughing awkwardly.
"I'll...explain some other time." She said, gesturing for her trainer to sit down and eat.
Shadow recognised Knuckles as a girl way back when, so I think he'd recognise Mascara's parentage as well...I honestly don't imagine that he's mad at Rogue for leaving if he knows of the argument. I love writing Femur as trying to not be nervous around Shadow but she messes up and stutters every now and then. And yes, she will tell our favourite anti-hero hedgehog about Masa...just not yet ^^.
