This is actually a chapter I've been working on in my head for a little while, but I finally got to writing it down. So...yay ^^ Don't have much else to say, except to read and review and hope you enjoy ^^
It had been a good week since the Pack of Thief Dogs' appearance, not only had they not shown up but a certain guardian had managed to get a bit closer to her crush in the clear weathered week. She was currently resting from another training session with the black and red hedgehog, back to her thoughtless rest of near sleep.
"Masa..." Shadow murmured, staring intently at the Master Emerald. He still remembered clearly her calling the emerald that when she returned to life after he brought it back to her and her father, back when she was a toddler...but what meaning did the name hold to her now? He felt as though he was missing something important. He gave a soft sigh, deciding to ask her when she awoke...until then, he was hungry.
"You can't keep me from him forever you know." Masa stated as he appeared behind the undead girl.
"I know." Femur sighed as her eyes opened, called from her sleep-like state by the projection. "But...I don't think he's going to take it as well as Aunty..." She pointed out, sitting up...the very idea made her uncomfortable, and she definitely looked it.
"I don't think he'll react badly...you two have been getting closer, haven't you?" The green echidna asked.
"I think, but...it's hard to tell with him." The hybrid now looked sad and a little confused, staring at where her once hero had walked off to.
"Talking to yourself is a sign of insanity...of course, it wouldn't surprise me if you were insane, being alone on this island all the time." The girl quickly stood, dashing to the edge of the shrine...only to see the Pack of Thief Dogs. How did she not sense them enter the island?!
"You again." She growled, beginning to walk down the steps. "Don't you know the Master Emerald is useless to you without a guardian?"
"Or a machine to take its power...come now, you didn't really think we want it for no reason do you?" Kane asked with a small smirk, his teammates at his side.
"Whatever you're planning, just forget it." The glowing eyed girl snarled, glaring down at the three.
"Oh, so scary! What will we ever do...to an undead girl brought to life by Chaos Energy." The red and blue fighter froze, eyes now wide.
"How the hell do you know that?!" She demanded.
"We have our ways of getting information." Lily smiled widely at the panicked look on the other girl's face.
"...So what if you know what I am, that doesn't give you any advantage!" She dashed down the steps at the terrier; she knew that if she took him out the others would leave. He caught her fist as she punched, his hand gloved by the absorption device for Chaos Energy...she gasped as she felt it sucking the energy keeping her 'alive' and moving draining away.
"Femur!" The purple eyed boy called, looking both shocked and panicked.
"What was that about no advantage?" Atlas asked as Femur tried to pull her hand from the grey and black dog's own.
"D...damn it..." She breathed, already beginning to lose consciousness.
"Go ahead, I've got her." The oldest male said, the other two of the group nodding and beginning to walk up the stairs. Masa's projection wavered as the Master Emerald tried to give as much energy to its guardian.
"Gah!" They two dogs turned from the steps of the shrine to see their leader lying on the ground, a gasping guardian in front of him.
"Kane!" The pink girl cried out, running down the steps with Atlas close behind. The red and blue fighter jumped over them, landing between them and the powerful gem she was to protect.
"I'm not...going down...that easily..." She murmured, getting into a fighting position.
"You little...how dare you hurt Kane!" The chihuahua snarled, fangs bore at the other girl. "Atlas!" The older dog nodded, picking her up and throwing her at the girl.
"Nice try...Chaos Spear!" The familiar attack sped towards the blue eyed girl, only for her to smile.
"Nicer than you realise." She said, stretching her hand in front of her and revealing her own odd glove.
"What?!" The hybrid exclaimed, eyes wide again. Lily absorbed the attack, landing behind the older girl. As the undead girl turned she was tackled, causing them to roll down the stairs. The yellow eyed shepard reached forward with his own glove, grabbing the guardian by the skull and pulling her from Lily's grip. The captured girl made a sound of pain as the biggest dog seemed to be trying to crush her skull.
"You must pay for hurting Kane." He barked, the girl crying out in pain as he used more force and her energy was drained.
"H...help..." She thought before becoming motionless, eyes returning to their natural violet. Atlas dropped her carelessly, walking back over to his leader which Lily was already beside.
"Are you alright?!" The pink thief asked in worry as the brown eyes boy groaned in pain, sitting up.
"She has quite the punch." He stated, hand on his head. "...I underestimated her; I didn't think she'd be able to fight back once we began to suck energy from her." He added, slowly standing up...his head hurt and he felt dizzy, but now wasn't the time to worry about that.
"...Femur." The group turned sharply to see a certain anti-hero standing atop the shrine, eyes narrow as he bore he fangs at the group. "What did you do to her?" His voice send a shiver up each their spines, they had clearly angered the hedgehog.
"Uh oh..." The chihuahua was the one to voice their trouble, looking up at him with fear in her eyes...to fight this guy was essentially a suicide mission. Appearing from a flash of purple Chaos Energy at the top of the shrine was none other than Sonic and Knuckles...upon seeing their corpse of a daughter both let out a snarl of anger. Sonic Chaos Controlled, picking up the girl before appearing back at the top of the shrine, placing her beside Shadow.
"Watch her." Normally Shadow wouldn't have listened to the other hedgehog, but he could feel the dark aura building beneath the other's skin. He merely nodded instead.
"I-I think now...would be a good time to leave!" The blue eyed girl exclaimed, the other two nodding.
"Farewell." The terrier said simply, the three disappearing in a flash of greenish-blue light. The entire island seemed to have become mute as the blue hedgehog's emotions returned to his control.
"Is she alright?" Knuckles asked, kneeling at her daughter's side.
"She just ran out of Chaos Energy." Shadow assured the woman, picking up the girl and moving her to the side of her charge.
"They must have drained it from her...they're the ones who stole the Chaos Glove from Tails..." The ex-hero stated in a low growl, looking away from his daughter in disgust with himself for being unable to stop them from leaving.
"Why did he make it to begin with if it was so easily taken?" The black and red hedgehog asked with narrow eyes, he was displeased with his counterpart as well.
"The Chaos Glove was made to absorb large amounts of Chaos Energy from the Master Emerald and release it to the owner at a steady rate." The red echidna explained, looking down suddenly. "It was made...so Femur could go to the mainland." The darker hedgehog's eyes softened a bit, realising what the parents had been trying to do. Though he often tried not to think about it, the hybrid guardian was a bit like his own friend in a way...both of them were stuck somewhere, unable to leave, and wished for nothing more than to go to the place they could see so clearly.
"Why are you here?" He questioned suddenly.
"We just...had this feeling that Femur was in danger."
"We should leave...I don't think she'll be happy to see us when she wakes up." The runner pointed out, the puncher nodding.
"Yes, you're right. Please look after her Shadow." The violet eyed woman asked, the man nodding. With another nod from the green eyed man, he pulled out the purple Chaos Emerald and the two disappeared in a flash of coloured light.
I said the Pack of Thief Dogs were the main villains in this story. For those wondering, the Master Emerald gave everyone the feeling of Femur being in danger to save her and itself...there was another time it manipulated people's thoughts, which was the very time spoke on early in this chapter.
