Sora and Kairi both stood on one side of the laboratory in the WRO headquarters as Shalua studied Vincent, who was currently in a huge glass cylinder filled with a bluish liquid. The two keybladers were skeptical when she told them it would help heal Vincent, but they took her word for it and, surprisingly, it seemed to be getting the job done.
The WRO headquarters was… interesting to say the least. In a way, it reminded the two of the Castle that Never Was because of its many rooms and long hallways. It was definitely not as creepy and huge as Organization XIII's former hid out, but it still felt like the place to the two for some odd reason.
"So, you said you were going to tell us what happened to Vincent?" Sora reminded her. Shalua had refrained from studying Vincent and was now currently typing at her computer, watching Vincent's vitals with careful eyes. "Why did he look like Chaos?"
Shalua looked up from her computer and faced Sora and Kairi. "Why he looks like Chaos… I am afraid I do not know for certain, but I do have some theories." Shalua explained. "Many years ago, when Shinra was still conducting human experiments, there was a scientist, Lucrecia Crescent, that was doing experiments that involved Chaos."
"How in the worlds did she manage that?" Kairi asked.
"Well you see, there is this legend that spawned ages ago," Shalua continued. "It was said that hundreds of years ago, after the first Keyblade War that Cosmos, the goddess of harmony, banished Chaos to the Realm of Darkness in this very world. We believe that she found Chaos genes, similar to DNA in the place where that very event took place. However, when Lucrecia died, she took the directions of the location with her."
"So you think… Lucrecia experimented on Vincent?" Sora questioned.
Shalua nodded before Kairi added, "Cosmos banished Chaos to the Realm of Darkness… Here?"
"That's what the legend said and since Lucrecia found Chaos genes, she proved the legend to be fact," Shalua continued. "Anyway, this is just my theory, we won't find out if it is true or not until Vincent wakes up."
Just as Shalua said those words, she looked over to the tube Vincent was in and squinted her eyes, studying it closely. Following her lead, Sora and Kairi looked over, and saw Vincent's head, turning slowly in the tube, looking around at where he was. "And it looks like it may be sooner than expected," she said, stepping up to the tube closely to make sure Vincent was really awake. With a few more turns of the head, she knew for sure. "Give me a moment, I'll release you."
Sora and Kairi watched Shalua as she went over to one of the computers and began to type wildly on it, and she stopped in a short period of time. However, that proved to be enough since they saw the bluish liquid inside the tube slowly drain, and before they knew it there was not a trace of the liquid left in the tube. Shalua then went over to the tube and opened it from the side, allowing a door for Vincent to exit from.
Sora could tell from the first steps Vincent took outside of the tube that he was not pleased that he and Kairi were still here.
"Where am I?" Where his first words, words that Shalua quickly responded to.
"Your safe inside the WRO headquarters, don't worry," she assured him. "We carried you back here after you collapsed during your fight with Deepground. It seems like the beast inside you went a little wild back there. This happen often?"
Vincent looked to the ground, as if he was afraid to say, but Sora and Kairi both knew Vincent for too long and knew that he hardly ever was afraid, that or he was good at hiding it. "Do you mean… Chaos?" He asked.
Shalua placed her finger on her chin, as if she was trying to hide her alarm from the situation. "So your body does harbor the Chaos gene, didn't I tell you guys?" Shalua said, turning to Sora and Kairi, who both nodded. "So that does explain your relationship with Dr. Lucrecia Crescent. You were the victim of one of her experiments, weren't you?"
Vincent looked slightly startled at Shalua's words. "Lucrecia's… experiments?"
Shalua noticed her wording was wrong quickly and said, "I apologize, that wasn't what I meant."
"Wait," Vincent stopped her. "Lucrecia was researching Chaos."
Shalua's facial expression changed immediately. "Don't tell me… You didn't know?"
"That's horrible!" Kairi interrupted. "What made Lucrecia think that it was a good idea to burden him with an inner Chaos and then not let him know about it?"
Vincent turned to Kairi with a blank look on his face. "She… wouldn't."
Before he could say another word, Shalua walked away quickly and went to one of the computers and began to type wildly again. In no time she pulled up a page all about Lucrecia and began to explain. "It's right here, Lucrecia Crescent," she began. She then went on to explain what she specialized in when she was working at Shinra before she got to what she was looking for. "She refers to Chaos as one of the gods residing among us, and that he was banished to the Realm of Darkness…"
Shalua continued, but Sora quickly noticed that Vincent was no longer paying attention to her words and only stared at the computer screen with doubt in his eyes. The keyblade wielder truly felt bad for Vincent; she probably seemed like a nice woman to him until he found out she was performing these experiments.
After Shalua continued for some time, she eventually noticed that Vincent was not paying attention and she tilted her head. "Hey, are you alright?" She asked.
Vincent took a while to respond and only continued to look at the screen. "May I see her thesis?" He asked finally.
"Unfortunately I can't let you do that," she told him. "On top of it being obscure, it was never fully submitted to the Shinra data space. All I know is what I saw while going through the company's archives."
Before Shalua could continue, the group heard footsteps coming from outside, and someone had entered the room. It was a man, with black hair wearing a blue trench coat. "Vincent! Have you recovered already?" He asked.
Sora was about to question who this man was, but Shalua was far ahead of him. "Reeve Tuesti of the WRO, he's the reason this organization exists."
Reeve turned to the two keyblade wielders when he heard his name. "And what an honor it is to meet you two," he said, walking towards the two heroes. When he made it to them, he held a hand out, which Sora quickly took. "I have heard much about you two, saviors of the worlds, more than once for that matter. I am humbled to be in your presence."
Sora couldn't help but grin. "Really, there is no need for the praise, but it is nice to meet you as well," Sora said, letting go of Reeve's hand. As soon as their hands parted, Reeve's hand moved over to Kairi, who extended her hand to shake his.
"And Princess Kairi of course? Another honor, to be in a Princess of Heart's presence," he continued.
Kairi didn't know what to say to him at first, but after a while she only replied with a, "Nice to meet you."
Once Kairi and Reeve's hands separated, Reeve turned to Vincent, who was still standing in the same spot his was before, with a look of disbelief on his face.
"Perhaps I may want to explain what happened…" Vincent said before he sat down in a chair, leaning back with his eyes closed before he began to explain.
…
Xion rested her head against her hand, looking out the window of the gummi ship as they began to pass the countless stars that shined brightly in the pitch black sky. After clearing up the heartless situation on Ivalice, her, Riku and the Turks had to borrow a Gummi Ship from King Mickey to head to their next destination: Edge (that is as long as Yuffie doesn't call them again with more things to do). The Turks did have a Gummi Ship that they used to get to Ivalice in the first place, but when they went to where it was supposed to be, it was nowhere to be found. The two then had to listen to Lea curse for several minutes about some people called the Sky Pirates.
As of currently, Riku was driving the Gummi Ship and Xion was sitting in the shotgun seat. The Turks claimed to be exhausted and as Riku to drive while they went in the back of the ship to sleep and Riku, being the normally nice guy that he is, agreed. Most of the ride remained silent, since Riku and Xion were both exhausted from the fight as well, but the silence has been annoying Xion for a while now.
Finally deciding to break the silence, Xion sat up straight in her chair and turned to Riku. "You know," she started, "Yuna has said I've been doing really well at our summoning sessions. I mean, obviously I can't summon creatures to my own will like she can, but she said soon we might go out to the worlds to find summoning stones for myself."
"That's good," Riku said, not turning to her but keeping his eyes locked on the stars in front of him. "Question though, how do you expect to keep taking these summoning classes when your nursing school starts up? It's going to be hard balancing the two."
"I'll find a way," she said. "Besides, the summoning sessions really aren't even classes; I can adjust those to my schedules."
Before Xion could continue, she stopped to look at Riku, who seemed… off somehow. Ever since they left Ivalice, he has been acting strange to her. She didn't know how to describe it, but she could tell something was bugging him.
"Are you alright?" She asked.
"What do you mean? I'm exhausted, if that's what you're wondering," he reminded her.
"Not that," she replied quickly. "Ever since you left Ivalice, you've had this look on your face, like you are trying to figure out something but can't exactly find your answer. And don't even think about saying nothing's wrong, I know you to well."
Xion could have sworn she heard the slightest chuckle from Riku before it vanished. It took a few moments for him to speak, but he finally spoke, "Did anything seem… Off to you on Ivalice?"
Xion looked at him puzzled. "Well the place was full of heartless…"
"Besides the heartless," he said. "It might just be me, I mean; ever since I fell prey to the darkness I have been more sensitive to finding lights in dark places."
"Yeah, people with light within them like the Princesses of Heart, keyblade wielders that are for the light side, etc. I know that." She said.
"When we were on Ivalice, all I could feel was darkness, even the light of you was clouded from me." He explained. "All light, except one. This light… It was so blinding to me that I could spot it out in all the darkness."
Xion widened her eyes. "So what do you think? There was another keyblade wielder on Ivalice?"
"I don't know," Riku said. "It felt too strong to be just a keyblade wielder."
Before Riku could continue, Riku's Utada Hikaru ringtone went off again, and he sighed. Leaving on hand on the wheel, he dug his hand into his pocket and pulled out his phone. "Hello?" He answered it.
It was Yuffie, Xion could tell that. The ninja was speaking so loud that Xion could hear her muffled voice from her seat.
"So situations aren't getting better then?" Riku spoke. "Alright, I'll go get them."
And with those words, Riku hung up and placed both hands on the wheel. "Change of plans, Yuffie thinks we need more help, we are going to Spira to get Cloud and the others."
Okay, before I even begin, I really need to say how sorry I am for not updating in such a long time. I feel really bad about it, I really do.
I guess I kind of need to go into some explanation of WHY I didn't update in such a long time. Everything is fine though, don't worry! Besides all these video games I have to play, these chapters are probably some of the most time consuming chapters I have ever written before. Now you see, when I am writing these chapters, I also have the cutscenes of DOC opened up on a separate tab so I can get all the wording right and stuff. And be warned, this takes a lot longer than just writing a chapter. Also, I have just been busy, and I can't prevent that from happening.
BUT! Hopefully I won't take as long to update next time. But if school, busyness, and other stuff gets in the way... That is probably why I am not updating.
Now that that's out of the way, I hope you enjoyed the chapter! And yes, to clarify, Xion's occupation is going to be a Nurse AND a summoner! Now she isn't going to be exactly like Yuna, but more like a Kingdom Hearts styled high-class summoner. UNfortunitly, we wont be seeing her summoning skills until later stories, so sorry!
So that is really all I have to say ATM so please R&R and look out for the next chapter!
