Kairi tapped her fingers on the table inside Shalua's lab quietly, trying not to annoy Shalua while she did so. It was quiet in the lab to begin with, since Shalua was researching more information about Omega on her computer, so Kairi really had nothing to do. The silence bored her, so she figured she should at least start a conversation with the scientist.
"So how long have you been working for the WRO?" She asked. "I mean, you are a head scientist, so I figured it must have been…"
But before she could continue her sentence, Kairi noticed something… Off with Shalua's expression that she made that the computer screen. The princess squinted her eyes at the look Shalua wore: pure worry. Kairi could not see the computer screen from where she was seated, so she was not sure what Shalua was worried about. So, she got up and began to walk over to Shalua to see what it was.
Only problem was that when Kairi arrived there, Shalua immediately turned the computer off, hiding it from Kairi. The princess made a weird look at Shalua, wondering why she did that. "Sorry…" Shalua said with a tone of worry in her voice. "I-um… didn't need it anymore…"
Kairi could tell there was something Shalua was not telling her, but before she could ask what this was about, Reeve walked in. "Shalua did you hear any word from Sora and Vincent yet?" He asked. "They said they would say something when they got to the Mansion."
"No sir," she said with a stern voice. "But I need to talk to you, now."
"Is something the matter?" He asked. Before she replied to him, Shalua glanced worriedly at Kairi, and then answered him,
"Yes."
And with that single word, Shalua walked to Reeve, grabbed him by the arm, and pulled him out into the hall, making sure that the door shut behind them. Kairi was left alone in the room, confused at what happened. What were they talking about?
At first, she didn't want to have to do this, but the slight thought of Shalua's face looking at the computer screen flashed in her mind, and she knew she had to.
So Kairi walked to the door and placed her ear against it, hoping that she could listen to what they were talking about. The voices were muffled, and she obviously missed part of the conversation, but she could hear them.
"Yes…" Reeve's muffled voice said.
"Are you kidding me?" Shalua's voice said in an angry tone. "You knew about this but you didn't bother to tell them?!"
Kairi breathed a sigh of relief. When she first saw the face Shalua made, she thought that the scientist found something about what had been happening to Kairi for the past month, but the mention of 'them' disproved that.
"We are going to stop them before they summon Omega, so there is no possible way that could happen," Reeve continued.
"But there's the problem, what if they manage to summon Omega? What then Reeve?" Shalua continued to say in an angry voice. "How do you think they are going to react then? Telling them now and seeing their reaction is better than seeing their reaction out on the damn battle field."
Kairi heard Reeve sigh, followed by a quick mumble to himself. "The documents that recorded such a scene are thousands of years old, they could have misinterpreted."
"Guess what Reeve? Every darn thing they wrote in these 'thousands of years old' documents has proved to be true so far!" Shalua continued. "Damn Rufus, I blame him for all of this. Shinra was never supposed to have these documents; I don't know how he got a hold of them."
"Well when you used to work for Shinra, you find out a lot of things half of the worlds don't know," Reeve commented.
"If anything we should be sharing it with them! This could mean their…" Shalua trailed off. "We have to tell them, they have to know—"
Before Shalua could continue, an alarm went off, alarming Kairi. Knowing that Shalua and Reeve would probably come in here, Kairi ran over to the computers to try and make it seem like she was looking at the screens, looking for what was wrong. They could not know that she was listening to them.
Kairi's theory proved to be true when she heard the door reopen and Shalua and Reeve stepped in, walking quickly over to the computers to see what was wrong. Shalua quickly began typing away on the keyboard with her good arm. "We've been breached," she said simply.
"Deepground?" Kairi questioned her.
Shalua nodded. "Looks like it, already see one of their head commanders," she gestured to the screen. Kairi looked at it carefully to see a security camera shot that picked up a tall, muscular man with blue hair. Before she could get a better look at him, the man waved his hand and another Deepground soldier showed up, pointed his gun at the screen, and bang.
The security camera went dead. "Damn him," Shalua commented. "He's probably going to break the others too, that blue headed freak."
Kairi looked to Reeve, trying to see how he was reacting to all this, but saw that he only wore a disappointed look on his face. "They were supposed to arrive today… this won't be a good welcoming," he muttered.
"Who's coming Reeve?" Kairi asked.
Reeve ignored Kairi's question and only turned to the scientist. "The breached the main gate, but their moving fast, probably already got deeper into the base. Shalua, you and Kairi head towards the gates, take out any Deepground soldiers you can."
"Pronto," Shalua said, grabbing her gun off the table quickly.
"What about you?" Kairi asked Reeve, deciding not to bother with who was coming here.
"I will head towards Azul, try to slow him down," Reeve then called out, "Cait!"
Kairi perked up at the name and noticed the little, robotic cat come in at the speed of lightning to the sound of his name. "Cait Sith reporting for duty sir!" He said in his Scottish accent. The cat then turned to Kairi. "Love to catch up lass, but we'll do that once these fellas are outta here!"
Kairi nodded to Cait before she turned to Shalua. "Let's go," she said before Shalua nodded at the Princess of Heart and they left the room.
But they all managed to miss one of the other security cameras seeing a young girl walking through the halls.
…
After fighting off several Deepground soldiers, Shalua and Kairi were on their way towards the main gates, fighting with their way through. The Princess had to admit for someone with only one usable arm, Shalua could fight off quiet well with her gun and strength alone. She just hoped it would stay that way as they got closer to the gates.
Turning another corner of the base, Shalua and Kairi found themselves in a small room, completely empty. Looking to Shalua, Kairi noticed that she didn't make anything of the room and kept walking, with the princess right on her tail. But before Kairi could walk any further, she felt a presence behind her, a presence of darkness that was slowly getting closer and closer. Acting as quickly as she could, Kairi summoned her keyblade and just barely blocked an attack from… Nothing?
Or at least that is what she thought at first until a strange looking weapon appeared before her, followed by its owner, who was only a young girl, who looked younger than Kairi even. She had short orange-red hair cut up to her shoulders and was clearly wearing a Deepground uniform. After she made this observation, Kairi pushed the girl back with her keyblade and prepared to fight.
"Stop!" Kairi heard Shalua say behind her. The princess listened to the scientist and quickly went out of her battle stance and looked behind her at Shalua, who looked like she had a tear in her eye. Shalua held a hand out in front of her before she said, "Shelke?"
Before she could continue, Kairi noticed that Shalua looked completely dumbfounded. "You… haven't changed… at all," the scientist said quietly. "Not at all in ten years."
Kairi and the young girl gasped at what Shalua was saying. "Shalua, do you know her?" Kairi asked.
Shalua nodded before she turned back to the young girl. "Shelke, it's me, Shalua… your… your sister," she continued. "I went... through hell to find you."
Shalua began to walk towards Shelke, but Kairi saw the slight hint of darkness in her eyes, and quickly grabbed Shalua by the shoulders before she could get any closer. She was lucky Kairi did that since Shelke immediately brought out her weapon (an orange sword connected by a cord to some machinery on her hip) and slashed the air Shalua could have been standing in if Kairi hadn't moved her.
"Don't take another step," Shelke finally spoke. "I don't care who you are, my mission as a Deepground soldier is all that is relevant."
"How could you say that?" Kairi asked Shelke. "How could you say that to your sister?"
Shelke quickly brought out a sword matching her other one the moment Kairi finished speaking. "Stay out of this," she spat. "You think you've been through hell, Shalua? I have been through hell much deeper, they played with my mind, worse then you could imagine. But… Look at me; I should be eighteen this year."
Kairi gaped, they were supposed to be the same age but she looked so much younger.
"If I don't receive my daily dose of Mako, this body wouldn't last a day, but I don't consider myself to be the least bit unfortunate. Except… I held on to hope, something foolish, that one day someone would come to save me." Shelke continued.
Kairi noticed Shalua was crying now, and the scientist fell to her knees, sobbing into her hands. "I'm… so sorry… Shelke…" she said in between sobs.
"It's time to put the past behind us…" Shelke said as she raised her weapons again, preparing to strike Shalua, but before she could, Kairi quickly brought up a reflect spell, protecting Shalua from Shelke's attack.
The young girl growled at the princess's actions. "I told you to stay out of this!"
"Shalua, Kairi!" Reeve's voice called out. Kairi and Shelke's heads both turned to look at Reeve, who walked in to notice all that was happening. "Your… Shalua's younger sister."
"Must I exterminate all of you?" Shelke said as a dark aura came off of her.
"How do you not see what has happened?" Reeve questioned her. "Shalua gave more than her arm and eye to try and find her lost sister, you know. Half of her organs had to be reconstructed, not a day goes by that she doesn't feel the pain of a thousand souls, all to find you. But she still never gave up hope that she would—"
"Enough!" Shelke commanded him as she raised her weapons. "I've heard enough."
(Girl Named Shelke – Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus) Before Shelke could try and strike at Shalua again, Kairi brought up another reflect shield around all three of the WRO members, this time causing one of Shelke's swords to break on impact. Upon noticing what the princess had done, Reeve went for Shalua and picked her up. "There's darkness, I can feel it," Kairi said. "What she is saying is her saying it, but the darkness isn't helping."
"Noticed. Kairi, we need to sedate her, do you think you can do that?" Reeve asked.
"I have it handled, just get Shalua out of here," Kairi said as Reeve nodded and took Shalua out of the room. Once she knew they got safely out, Kairi brought down the shield only to see Shelke with a disappointed look on her face and her weapons raised.
"I will not let the WRO stand in the way of my mission," she said calmly before she charged at Kairi. But charged wasn't even the right word, because she ran at full speed towards Kairi, quicker than anything she had ever seen. In fact, Kairi didn't know how she had managed to dodge the lightning fast Shelke's first attack, which was a run towards the princess and a slash of her swords. But Shelke did not stop there and ran towards the princess again, which Kairi tried to counter with a blizzard attack, but with a quick swipe of her broken sword, Shelke managed to stop the attack from hitting her. And unfortunately, because Kairi thought the fire attack would stop her, the princess was not prepared for Shelke's slash attack and it hit the princess dead on, sending her back.
Kairi quickly recovered from the attack and prepared a block for the next attack Shelke tried to pull on her. The princess managed to block her successfully and was now face to face with the young girl, who grunted as she tried to put Kairi's keyblade back. However, Kairi managed to push Shelke's blade back first, followed by a quick slash of her keyblade, which successfully landed. Shelke grunted again before she ran off in the opposite direction, trying to regain her energy before she ran towards Kairi again. This time, Kairi put up another reflect shield, causing Shelke to hit it with her sword again, completely breaking it this time. Shelke growled as she put what remained of the sword (only the handle) back in his holder before she put both of her hands on her good sword's handle.
"Deepground will defeat you!" She said as Kairi removed her reflect shield and Shelke ran towards her again. Kairi however managed to block it and push Shelke back once more before the red head fired another blizzard attack at her, which hit this time. Shelke once again ran away from Kairi then, regaining her energy, but Kairi was not expecting her to do what she did next. Shelke began to glow a strange mixture of darkness and a red aura and ran so fast that she was able to scale the walls. And because Kairi was not expecting this, Shelke hit her dead on, making the princess fly backwards and into the wall. Kairi grunted as she tried to stand back up and watched Shelke carefully, awaiting her next move.
But Kairi quickly noticed that she was not in a good position right now when she saw Shelke glow with darkness again. Kairi needed something, anything, to try and give her a chance. The princess then looked up and noticed that there was a fire extinguisher on the ceiling. The princess was not sure if it would make much of a difference to Shelke, but she knew that it was her best beat. So before Shelke ran towards her, Kairi blasted the biggest fire attack she could right at the extinguisher, causing it to burst and water to pour out of it. Thankfully, that was just enough because Shelke paused for a brief moment, which was all Kairi needed. Acting quickly, Kairi ran towards Shelke and hit a combo on her before she topped it off with a blast of light, ending the battle. (End Girl Named Shelke)
Kairi took in a deep breath as she saw Shelke fall to the ground, unconscious as the water from the extinguisher subsided. As if on cue, Shalua and Reeve came back into the room, Shalua running right over to her sister. "Shelke!" She yelled as she kneed down and placed her unconscious sister's head on her lap, looking at her with careful eyes.
"Well done Kairi," Reeve congratulated her, but Kairi didn't know why he was doing that.
"Don't congratulate me yet! Deepground is still breaching this place, we need to drive them out," Kairi said. However, Reeve shook his head before he pulled out his phone, which was much more advanced then Kairi's, swiped the screen twice, and looked back to her.
"Do you remember how I said people were coming soon?" Reeve asked before he handed the phone to Kairi. "They came."
Looking at Reeve slightly shocked, Kairi took the phone from him and looked at the screen. She was looking at what appeared to be something a surviving security camera picked up: Azul was fainted on the ground. But that was not the most shocking thing in the video to Kairi…
"Is that Cloud and Zack?"
Cliffhangers are the best, don't you think? No? Oh... :P Well its not really THAT big of a cliffhanger, I mean, you guys must have seen this coming, but still.
Oh and by the way, what Shalua was so worried about in the beginning of the chapter wasn't about seeing Shelke on the video if you didn't catch on yet. It is something totally different that I am throwing in here that could effect our heroic keyblade masters...
So next chapter should be longer, if all goes according to plan, and we should see more of this mysterious woman from the last chapter again. So I hope you are looking forward to that!
Also, we should be getting more news on 2.5 HD Remix soon... Only problem is that when Square means soon, they mean in like several months so... But at least we know it's coming!
Oh and Captain America: The Winter Soldier was amazing by the way. I thought it was better then Thor: The Dark World and that's saying something because I LOVED that movie. Also, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now the biggest money making movie franchise ever as of today... Sorry Harry Potter... But you earned it Marvel! AND OH MY GOSH AGENTS OF SHIELD. I WAS LIKE THIS -O- THE WHOLE TIME.
However, I must say I am kind of disappointed with the Super Smash Bros news that was announced at Nintendo Direct... Why just make Charizard and Greninja playable pokemon? Why couldn't they do the Pokémon trainer again were ALL OF THE STARTERS are playable? Sigh, I like them both but I would prefer others over them... coughmewtwoandfennikincough...
Alright, rant over, so please R&R! And as always, look out for the next chapter!
