This is the ninety-second chapter in the Pokemon Heroes story. This is the last part in the Sora arc, and you'll see if May survives or not. Enjoy!

(Opening song)
The machines around May continued to beep, the room was dead silent. May's body lay still on the bed. Her skin was pale, and her breathing continued to disappear. Her heart was beating at an incredibly slow pace, explaining why the heart monitor was beeping between long time intervals. With her heart going that slow, she wouldn't be able to live. She was on life support. May was on the verge of death. Everyone took it hard. The one person who took it the most was Ash. He was in the room with May. He sat at the corner, with his hands over his head. He mumbled stuff. Every single movement in the room, he jerked his head upwards to check if May was the source of the sound, but she wasn't moving at all. He listened to the heart monitor, and counted how long it took for another beeping noise from the machine. Every time it went over his expected time, he jumps up, but when it was heard, he slowly went back down onto the ground.
"Why won't you just wake up, idiot," thought Ash. "You have to wake up. I will not let you..." The door opened up, making Ash jerk his head back up. Brendan, Drew, and Dawn walked in. Brendan and Dawn went towards May. Dawn sat by her and held her hand. Drew walked towards Ash and bent down.
"How about you go get something to eat," said Drew. "You haven't eaten in a while. We'll watch over May for you."
"I'm fine."
"Come on, man. You can't just sit here and do nothing. Go out for a while."
"I said I'm fine," said Ash as he glared at Drew. "I can't leave this room yet."
"She'll be fine, Ash," said Brendan. "She'll make it through this. I promise." Ash stayed silent. Drew nodded and stood up and walked towards May's bed to check on her. Ash looked towards her. He wanted to believe that she would be okay, but something inside him made him believe she wasn't. He hated that feeling, but what scared him the most was that he actually did think she would die. She was going to die in front of him, and he could do nothing about it.
I Love You
The others left. They were coming back later on just to get some fresh air, but Ash stayed. He still sat by the wall, waiting for May to finally wake up. He was drifting into sleep, but he forced himself to wake up.
"I'm so sorry, May," thought Ash, "This is all my fault." His eyes closed, and he started to dream.
Flashback
"Get out of my way!"
"Please, calm down."
"Don't you dare tell me to calm down, fuckface! She's dying!"
"We know that. Let us have her, and she'll be fine under our care."
"Fuck off."
"Just give her to us. You're wasting time," said the doctor as he reached for May in Ash's arms.
"I SAID FUCK OFF!" yelled Ash as he pulled May away from him as he glared at the doctor. The doctor pulled back. Ash placed May on the ground, and created a weak Aura Sphere on his hand. He then placed it slowly on May's chest, and it slowly began to be absorbed into her body. He left it there, but then it disappeared immediately. He was shocked, and then he shook his head slowly. He slowly lowered his head and placed it on her chest. Her heartbeat was gone. No one said anything. Ash slowly lifted his head. The doctor walked toward Ash again.
"Kid, please," said the doctor. Ash then took May in his arms and lifted her and ran off. He ran towards the hospital. He was running at an amazing speed, pushing people aside, not caring for them anymore. Tears kept falling on May's body.
End of Flashback
Ash quickly opened his eyes as the door opened. He expected his friends to walk in, but the person that did surprised him so much that he quickly stood up. That person walked towards May's bed, stared at her, and slowly turned towards Ash.
"It's nice seeing you again, Son of Aaron," said the King (A/N: He doesn't have a name). The King that Ash encountered in May's castle when Ash first started his journey. The old man with a long, white beard and royal, red and gold king's clothing with a golden crown. Ash stared at him, not saying a word. This man almost sent Ash to his death after Ash almost tried to "rape" his granddaughter. He knew almost getting that man's granddaughter killed would mean something worse.
"What's wrong?" asked The King. "Cat's got your tongue?" Ash slowly shook his head. The King nodded and turned back to May. Ash sat back on the floor and lowered his head. The King took her hand and felt it. It felt so weak. He frowned and put her hand down and touched her forehead. He shook his head, and then looked back at Ash.
"I'm so sorry," said Ash in a whisper.
"You have nothing to be sorry about," said The King. "I understand what you tried to do. I met your friends outside. They told me everything that happened. We all knew Sora was suspicious. We found weird recordings, and he always said weird things about Ransei and becoming powerful. If only we decided to stop him before he could do anything. We were too late, and my granddaughter paid the price for it."
"I left them," said Ash. "I was so scared that I'd hurt her, so I ran away so she'd never see me again. If I stayed, she would be perfectly okay. I would've killed that basterd. I'm a monster. I didn't want to hurt anybody anymore."
"I agree," said The King calmly. "You are a monster. The council has been keeping an eye on you since you were a young child. You could kill anyone at any time. Your father was supposed to take care of you if ever the beast actually did overcome you, but now he's gone, if you did go berserk, we'd be ordered to kill you. But even though you're a monster, you're a kind person. You'd help anyone in a heartbeat. That's why we won't lock you up, and that's why your father put the beast in you, because he knew you'd control it." Ash looked up at The King.
"But I hit her," said Ash.
"Did she get mad at you?" asked The King. "If I was there, then I'd send you to prison immediately, but I wasn't, and that isn't important right now. Did she get mad at you?"
"No."
"Of course," said The King, "She's a very forgiving girl. She's kind to everyone, good and bad. Only in her heart would she know if she should be mad at someone, but she didn't get mad at you. It's because she trust you out of everyone on this planet. Even your friends like you even though they saw everything you've done. Why are you so mad at yourself? Why won't you understand that you don't stand alone through this?"
"It's my fault she's going to die," said Ash. "It's my fault she's lost her power."
"There's no need to worry about her powers," said The King. "Sora never realized, but May has an unlimited amount of power in her. If you take it all away, a little bit would remain. She's a Phoenix. It's impossible to remove it all. She can't die from losing her power, she'll just die because she isn't completely a phoenix. She won't be able to live without a spark. A spark to activate the fire in her heart. That's all."
"How does she activate it?" asked Ash.
"I don't know," said The King. "I only know this information from her mother. She learned about this from Ho-Oh herself, when they took her to that lake to heal her from her sickness. I'm sorry." Ash lowered his head.
"Calm down," said The King. "She'll be okay. She has the same will as her father. She wouldn't go that easily." Ash slowly nodded. They stayed in that room in silence now, but Ash started to start a conversation.
"Aren't you supposed to be at her castle?" asked Ash.
"Not at the moment," said The King. "I'm not always at the castle, you know? I stay there sometimes to help out her mother in important times. I work someplace else."
"Where's that?"
"I'm the head of The Council of Ransei," said The King. "I am the head King. You're telling me you've never known that." Ash looked at him, and slowly shook his head. The King smiled, and started to walk off.
"I'll be back later on," said The King. "First, I must inform the city of the loss of their prince."
"What happened to him? I didn't find his body after we fought."
"I know," said The King. "I'm sorry to inform you, but his body has not been found. He's gone. We don't believe he was obliterated by you. His body should at least be charred or broken into pieces, but it wasn't. This only means he's still alive." The King then left the room. Ash looked back at May.
"And I'll be sure to not let him lay a finger on May," thought Ash.
The talk with The King finally gave Ash enough hope to at least lie down. He did, and he had a good sleep. After that, he awoke and then went out for a bite to eat. He walked back towards her room while finishing up a burger in his hand. He took a large bite, and then opened her door. When he did, he saw a doctor standing in front of May, writing something down on his notepad and shaking his head. Ash slowly closed the door behind him, getting the doc's attention. He turned towards Ash and frowned.
"What's wrong?" asked Ash as he threw his burger away. "Is she going to be okay?" The doctor didn't respond to Ash. Ash slowly looked at him with his eyebrow raised.
"How is she?"
"We did the best we could," said the doctor in a whisper. "She's not going to make it." Ash froze. He tried to talk again, but his lips kept shaking.
"W-W-What do you mean?" asked Ash. The doctor avoided Ash's eyes.
"Her heart rate is getting lower and lower every minute," said the doctor. "She won't be able to make it anymore. Life support can longer help her. Even with it her heartbeat is getting lower. I say we just pull the..."
"Don't you dare fucking say it!" yelled Ash. His face was written with fear.
"Please help her. You've got to do something. Maybe you could..."
"We'll try anything we can before her life runs out," said the doctor. "I'm sorry. It'll get so low that her organs will start to die. I'll go and inform the others." The doctor then walked past the shocked Ash and out the door. When the door closed, Ash snapped back into reality. He tried to make sure this was all a dream, but it wasn't. He wobbled towards the girl's bed and looked at May's face. He went to his knees by her bed. He lifted his hand and touched her forehead.
"May, it's time to wake up now," said Ash in a whisper. "Wake up. It's no time to be sleeping right now. They could take you away if you don't wake up. You could-you could..." He lowered his head, and shot it back up at May, with a glare.
"Wake up, dammit!" yelled Ash. "What the fuck is wrong with you? I said wake up. May! Wake up! Wake up!" He started to violently shake her, but she still wouldn't respond. He slowly stopped, and put his head on her chest, and he grasp the blankets on May with his hands. He started crying and sobbing. He couldn't take it anymore. She was going to die now, and he couldn't stop it at all.
"I'm so sorry," said Ash. "I am so sorry. I didn't want to leave you, I didn't want to leave you behind, but I just didn't want to hurt you. I just didn't want to. If only I stayed with you, if only I calmed myself down when you told me to, you would've never been in this situation. You can't die on me, May. I care about you too much for you to leave. I promise I will do everything you tell me to do. I promise I'll never fight anyone unless you tell me to. Please, please May, just keep living." Suddenly, the heart monitor, stopped, and then made a continuous sound. Ash looked at it, and he couldn't believe it. Her heart finally stopped. Tears kept falling from Ash's face. He couldn't stop it anymore.
"I couldn't help you," said Ash as he covered his face with his hand. "I've failed you. I've failed my friends, your mother, your father, your grandfather, Lnoki, and even my dad. I've failed everyone." His eyes turned blue, and aura slowly started to cover his body. He didn't care anymore. He just wanted to end it. He no longer cared for his own life. He was done with everything.
"I'm so sorry," Ash repeated. "You've cared for me no matter what I said or did to you. You never got seriously mad at me, even when I've been a total asshole to you lately. I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry."
"I love you so much, Ash...Because I love you!" Ash remembered those two sentences May had told him before. The click in his hand that he felt before when May hugged him up on the mountain returned. He finally understood it.
"Oh Arceus," said Ash. "I see it now. Why? Why wasn't I able to piece it together? Why did I not listen to it before? I understand it now. I just couldn't say it. I just couldn't say those words to you. Why didn't I say it? I'm sorry, May. Why couldn't I say it before?" He looked at her face as tears kept falling. The aura was up to his waist.
"I love you," said Ash as he kissed her on her lips. He then moved away and hugged May's body. "I love you so much. You've always said you've loved me, but I never returned it. I've never been able to. I'm sorry for not saying it. I love you. I want you to live on so I can always say it to you. Please May live. I love you." He continued to cry, mourning over her.
"I...love you too...Ashy."
Ash opened his eyes wide. He put May down and looked at her, making sure he wasn't just hallucinating.
"May?"
"I love you, too," May repeated. Her voice was so low. Ash was only able to hear it because his ear was close to her mouth. Ash couldn't say anything. He was too stunned. The heart monitor started to beep again, and it kept getting faster. Ash quickly hugged her. He couldn't make out the words to what he wanted to say.
"You're hurting me," whined May. Ash let go of her and started feeling her head. She looked like she was healing up at an amazing speed. Her voice got louder, her skin started turning into its normal color, and her heart was back to normal in seconds.
"Please tell me you're okay now, May," said Ash. "Please."
"I'm okay," said May, and she opened up her eyes a little bit, and Ash finally saw her beautiful shining blue eyes after such a long time. "I'm fine." May then closed her eyes. Ash started to immediately freak out already.
"May?" asked Ash. "May? Oh Arceus. May! May, wake up! Wake up right now! May! May, I..."
"Shut up!" yelled May, and she turned her body away from Ash and went deeper into her blankets. "You're too freaking loud. Let me sleep." Ash slouched down on the floor. The aura on him disappeared. His face had nothing on it. After a few minutes of just staring at May, an expression showed up on his face. An expression no one ever thought to see in all their life.
Two days passed, and May's condition started to get better than before. News of the Princess living after all went through all of Ransei. Her friends were relieved, especially Dawn, who turned into a raging fangirl when she found May. Her Grandfather found out the news, but hasn't been able to see May yet. Ash was the only person out of all of them who was with May at all times after she woke up. He stayed in her room at all times, only leaving to get her food or to use the bathroom, since May wouldn't let him use hers. She still had trouble walking though, since her body was still weak after losing so much of her power to Sora. Right now, Ash sat with her on her hospital bed as she sat on his lap. She was talking to him, but he didn't pay attention. He just stared at her, and he enjoyed it.
"Do you think you'd look good painting your fingernails?" asked May as she looked at his fingers. "How about if you were a girl? Do you think you'd look pretty? I think you would. What would your name be? How about Ashley?"
"Did you hit your head?" asked Ash. The door opened, and a doctor walked into the room.
"Hello, Princess," said the doctor as he pulled out a needle from his breast pocket. "It's time for your shot." May shuddered, and nodded. The doctor walked towards May and was about to reach for her arms, but then stopped.
"What's wrong?" asked May. She noticed the doctor's concerned face, and then traced where he was looking and noticed Ash. Ash's eyes were blue, and he was staring sternly at the doctor. May looked back at the doctor, and smiled.
"I get it now," she said. She then got off Ash and sat away from him and gave her arm to the doctor, who took it and prepared to put the needle in her, but looked at Ash sometimes to check if he'd do something. Ash just continued to stare at him.
"Don't worry," reassured May, "He can't do anything. He's not allowed to." The doctor nodded, and slowly tried to put the needle in May, but then stopped when Ash prepared to pounce on him from the bed.
"Just do it," said May. "He won't do anything." The doctor then put the needle in May, making the girl groan in pain.
"You son of a..." said Ash as he pounced at the doctor, but May karate-chopped his head to make him stop. The doctor took the needle out and bandaged her arm. He then bowed and left the room. May sternly looked towards Ash.
"Ash-"
"I'm sorry," said Ash. "I didn't mean it."
"Why'd you do it this time?" asked May. "You get pissed at every single doctor or nurse that comes in here. What's your problem?"
"I just don't like it when they put their hands on you," answered Ash. May smiled.
"So you're jealous," said May. "You don't have to worry though. You're allowed to touch me anywhere anytime." Ash just stared at her, wondering whether or not he should take advantage of that. The door opened once again, and this time, Dawn, Brendan, and Drew walked in.
"Hey May," said Drew, "Look what Brendan and I got for you." He tossed her a rather strange doll. It looked like a fusion of an Octillery and a Tentacool, and it was all purple.
"What the hell is this?" asked May.
"I don't know," said Drew, "Brendan and I bought it for you at a store. Dawn said it would be a dumb thing to give you. What do you think of it?"
"I love it," said May as she gave it a hug. "It's so cute. Thanks guys. This is so much better than a lame Teddiursa doll."
"Yeah," said Dawn as she slowly opened the trash can and threw in a Teddiursa doll in it. "A lame Teddiursa doll." As May cuddled with her doll, Lnoki walked into the room.
"Hello Princess. It's great to see you better."
"Hey Lnoki," said May, "Want to hug my new doll?"
"No thank you," said Lnoki. "I came here to have a little chat with Ash. Ash, can I talk to you outside for a second."
"I'm tired," yawned Ash.
"Get your ass over here, Ketchum," said Lnoki. Ash reluctantly stood up and walked out of the room. He closed the door behind him and faced Lnoki.
"What do you want?" asked Ash.
"This is serious, Ketchum," said Lnoki. "Do you remember what we talked about back in Fallarbor Town?"
"In Fallarbor?" said Ash. "It was about my training, right?"
"Correct," said Lnoki. "I think it is time that we decide to continue it immediately."
"Why now?"
"Ash, when I heard about May actually getting her powers absorbed by Sora, I freaked out," said Lnoki. "Of course, I knew she'd survive this, but I realized what this meant. Ash, The Dark Signers are far stronger than the Prince. Imagine how it will be if they get to May. Yes, Sora learned to do it from them, but they must know how to do it better, so they could take every single ounce of her power. They will leave her for dead. That's why I've decided that it'd be time to continue your training." Ash didn't say anything.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing," said Ash. "I just-we have to leave them still, right?"
"Of course," said Lnoki. "We could put them in danger if they stay with us. But we may tell them the place where we could meet up, just so they wouldn't stay behind on your journey." Ash slowly nodded.
"Fine," said Ash. "But can we do this after May gets better? I can't-"
"Of course," said Lnoki. "As soon as she can be like her old self we may go. I will not rush you at all."
"Thanks," said Ash, and they both walked back into May's room.
In the evening, everyone went out to eat while Ash stayed with May in her room. He watched her hold her doll up and hum a song.
"So, what'd you two talk about?" asked May.
"What?"
"You and Lnoki," said May. "What'd you talk about?" Ash thought for a few minutes, making sure if he should even tell May. He nodded and faced her.
"I'm going to go train with Lnoki," said Ash. "I told you this before. He decided that we are going to go out and train, and I can't bring you guys with me." May quickly turned towards Ash. Immediately, tears started to form in her eyes.
"You're leaving already?" asked May. Ash quickly saw this as a threat and quickly stood up and waved his arms around.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," said Ash. "Don't worry. I won't leave now. I'll wait until you're all better first. I promise."
"But-" said May as she looked away. "I don't want you to leave me." Ash blinked a few times, and then put his hand on her head.
"I promise I won't be gone for too long," said Ash. "Think about it. Once I come back, I'll be powerful enough to protect you from people who want to hurt you. I don't want people to hurt you. You won't have to be scared anymore."
"I'm not scared," said May. "I have you with me all the time. That's why I don't want you to leave."
"If you don't want me to go, I won't."
"No, go, go," said May. "I can't just hold you back like that. I'm just gonna miss you." Ash started to ruffle through her hair.
"Just promise me you won't get too sad about this," said Ash. "I don't want you to be a nuisance to Brendan and Drew."
"Alright, I promise," said May.
"And that's why I love you," said Ash. May jerked her head up and looked towards Ash. Her eyes widened. She never thought she'd see it. Never in her life. A tear fell down from her face as a huge smile broke open on her face. She saw Ash smiling. His warm, happy smile. She always wanted to return his smile, and now here it was in front of her.
"Now promise me you won't get into any trouble, okay?" said Ash. May nodded her head and held Ash's hand. She wanted to jump up and down, but she was too weak now.
"That's a surprise," said Ritchie in Ash's head, "I never thought I'd see you smile."
"This might be the first time I'm actually happy to hear you," thought Ash.
"Yeah, I actually disappeared for a while, but I'm okay now," said Ritchie. "I can't believe you didn't go crazy while I was gone."
"Yeah," thought Ash. "Hey, what is your name?"
"Not important right now," said Ritchie, "I'm nobody, and that's all you need to know."
A boy walked through the woods at night. He dragged his broken leg through the forest floor, wobbling around as he walked. He stopped when he noticed a Mightyena cross his path. It growled at him and prepared to attack, but was suddenly pushed back towards a tree. It crashed on it, and then fell to the ground and ran off. The boy continued on, but then fell to the ground. He yelled in frustration, and suddenly all the trees around him were blown away. He looked down and sighed. His left eye was flickering from red and gray, as his other blue eye stayed the same. He sighed.
"I can't control it anymore," said the boy. "I really should've completed the process." He then looked up towards the sky. As he did, a group of Mightyena surrounded him from the forest, but he didn't care.
"I've lost everything," thought the boy as his rage rose. "I've lost everything because of them!" The Mightyenas started to close in on him.
"I won't accept this!" yelled the boy in his mind. "I will not! They will all pay. All of them! The council, The Princess, and Ash Ketchum. Especially him. I'll make sure I destroy him and savor that moment. I swear I will. Just you wait." The Mightyenas then jumped towards the boy, but the wind around him started to surround him and he stared sternly at the Pokemon.
"Alright bitches, come at me!" yelled Sora.

That was that chapter. I'm so sorry for this late update, but I promise the next one will be out by later tonight. I'm halfway finished with it, and I'm still at the hospital, and their Wi-Fi went down for a while, and then they put it on, but I forgot about this chapter while writing the next one. Also, the bounty hunters should return next chapter, since this arc was just to explore Sora, and trust me, he will return. Also, a new movie is coming, but I'll talk more of it next chapter. See you next chapter!
Read and Review please :-)
