Now that she finally got her revenge, Maylu is planning to leave World Three, but her powers retain just in case. Then she walks to her room to pack up her things and leave the mysterious hideout. This time, she is now wearing a green short-sleeved shirt, but her bottoms remain the same. Mr. Wily walked in to see what she is doing.

"So, you're leaving World Three?" the old man asked.

"What's your point, Mr. Wily?" Maylu looked at him with coldness on her eyes. "I deleted Roll, I got my revenge so I'll just leave and be the only one in Lan's little group without a NetNavi."

"I bought you here not only to carry out your revenge, but also I got something important I must tell you."

"'Something'?"

"Yes, it's about Roll," was the old man's reply. "You think you know everything about your NetNavi, but you actually don't."

"How... do you know about Roll?" Maylu is sceptical on that statement.

"Well, that's because I was involved in this kind of attempt despite it was Yahoot's plan. Don't worry, I'm on your side. And one of the few who know the truth about your NetNavi."

Suddenly, something weird has occurred to Maylu that her left eye started to turn yellow with a black three-bladed figure appearing. It's as if it is connected to Mr. Wily's eyes. After a few seconds, black flames emitted to the old man. He screams as he left outside the room; luckily, the other four World Three members did not hear this so he shouldn't worry about it.

After recovering from this, the human girl puts her hand to the left side of her face.

"What... was that?"

"The 'Black Flame Chip', which Roll seems to have implanted in you," Mr. Wily's voice is heard.

"Huh?!" Maylu is so surprised by this.

"Leave it to Roll to set a post-mortem trap. I can't believe how well she plans ahead," the old man appears once again and recovered from the black flames.

"What are you talking about?"

"In order to keep me away from you, Roll placed an attack in you. She really must have wanted to stop you hearing the truth from my lips."

"Just what are you saying, Mr. Wily?" Maylu goes to bed, waiting for an explanation.

"My dear, Roll did something to you before she got deleted," this explanation gives her thought about her former Navi touching her forehead with her sharp nails while she was in her Empress form. "At the very end, she transferred some of her powers to you."

"What are you saying? Is there a point to all this?" Maylu is more skeptic as she puts her eyes at the man. "Why would Roll do such a thing?"

"Don't you get it? She did it to protect you because during that match in the N1 Grand Prix, she was never brainwashed to begin with."

Maylu is so unnerved by this as she couldn't believe what her master told her. For her, it's impossible after she witnessed this by her actions.

"Protect? To protect me?! And she wasn't brainwashed when she's Empress?! Are you kidding?!" she yelled in disbelief. "She's my enemy! She betrayed my orders, kicked me out of the competition, and she..."

"I told you. You think you know everything about your NetNavi, but you know nothing," Mr. Wily retorted.

"Shut up! What do you know about Roll?!"

"Roll did mention it, did she not? She was not only with TorchMan and WackoMan during that match, but also an enigmatic figure that is behind on her manipulations."

"Then you're..." Maylu is about to realize of her boss' identity.

"That's right. I am Mr. X," the old man reveals his alias and what he knows about the pink NetNavi. "I know everything about Roll. I know about what she thought, what she wished, what she loved, and what she risked to fight. I know all of it. Your duty is to hear about the truth and life of Roll. It's your obligation."

"She... Roll fought me. She disobeyed me on that day!" the redhead refuses to believe in any of that truth. "And it's a fact that she destroyed me! She destroyed a Sakurai."

"And if that were a mission she'd received from DenTech City?" the sinister man asked slyly.

"Wha-?!" Maylu is baffled.

"That's just the beginning of the truth about Roll."

"A mission you said?!"

"That's right. Roll completed her assignment that day by acting like an evil dominatrix against your orders."

"But I still don't understand..." the girl started to listen to the truth.

"Heh, all ears now, I see," Mr. Wily said with a smile on his face while Maylu remains on her bed. "Roll ended up being a sacrificial pawn in a longstanding power struggle."

"Sacrificial pawn?" Maylu asked.

Mr. Wily finds this is the right moment to tell her the story behind Roll's actions.

"DenTech City. It's a very large city now, but waves of history churn at its base. In particular, discrimination towards the Sakurai."

"Discrimination towards the Sakurai?" Maylu again asked.

"Originally, DenTech City was formed by a group of people who were previously in conflict. The Sakurai Clan is one of them. When the city was founded, your family held central powers along with the other families, but after they failed to take the seat of being Prime Minister, the Sakurai fell from power. They started to lose power at that moment until they were treated as nuisances in the city. In the end, the Sakurai weren't needed. They were discriminated against. Of course, there were those who couldn't accept that. It's only natural. In order to retake power for the Sakurai and above all else to regain their pride, they hatched a plan."

"A plan?"

"To take over DenTech City with your father as leader. A coup d'etat, you could say," Mr. Wily replied.

"The Sakurai Family, a coup d'etat? And my father as the leader?!"

"That's right. The city leaders ended up caught in the plot and sent in a spy to watch over that family," the old man drinks a glass of water from a table and continues on the explanation. "That spy was your NetNavi, Roll."

This gives Maylu a shocked look on her face as she faces this revelation on her own. She couldn't believe of what Roll's role is on the spot.

"The Sakurai Family or DenTech City. It's hard to imagine what Roll felt as she chose between them. She ultimately chose DenTech City," the sinister man explained.

"So why?! Why would Roll betray the Sakurai?!"

"Do you know about the history of World War II where the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki happened?" Mr. Wily asked in curiosity and Maylu nodded. "You should know that wars are all doomsday events. The city leaders learned about how a NetNavi rebelled on a NetOp so they took advantage of this issue along with Roll's feelings and gave her a mission. That mission... was her betrayal over you by that rare twisted chip."

Maylu gasps over hearing this.

"At that time, Roll has worried and agonized on what she is going to do. She was in terrible distress. One thing for sure, one could never rebel against her NetOp, but if the Sakurai coup d'etat were to happen, the city would crumble and other cities would attack. It could have easily become the trigger for World War III. The selfish act of the Sakurai family would lead to the deaths of the innocents, including children. Therefore, this has to be avoided at all costs," the old man continued while watching her so that she could not try to escape from his grasp.

"What happened to the rest of my family?" she questioned, looking at him in the eyes.

"Your family got arrested and sent to prison for the rest of their lives, but there are some that got killed by the other officials," was the reply and Maylu looks shocked by this. She never realized her family got into a war like this. The only survivors in the aftermath were you and your parents. Good thing your father gave up this act. As a result, Roll has made her choice that she herself would drop the curtain on your family's history. Which led to that day..." Mr. Wily explained more with his arms crossed. "It was a mission to become known as a criminal who betrayed her own NetOp; to bear the burden of disgrace. It's all planned. It was all part of the mission. She was used to show the Sakurai who survived the coup d'etat about how a NetNavi can rebel its NetOp with the use of that corrupted chip, the same chip that made Roll into Empress."

Maylu is starting to be conflicted in her own mind if she should believe all what he told her.

"Roll brilliantly discharged the plan, her mission except for a single mistake. Even after she disclosed her heart and become Empress, there was one person, just one, whom Roll could not betray in her heart. Her NetOp..."

In other words, Mr. Wily is talking about the girl who joined World Three and that is Maylu herself.

"Afterwards, Roll appealed to the Prime Minister of Japan, beseeching him to protect you. She continued to do her job as your NetNavi after she threatened other leaders never to harm you. She worried about you above all else."

"That's a lie. It's gotta be a lie," Maylu refuses to believe on what she is being told even if she hears the whole story.

"It is the truth," the old man retorted.

"You're lying! She rebel against me over and over saying that she doesn't need to be controlled by me anymore!" the girl ranted in anger.

"If Roll really had wanted to betray you, you would lose her in your PET. Besides, she has a reason to pressure you."

Maylu thought of a memory where she is in her angel form once again and Roll manages to lure her to a power vortex where it's absorbing her power to transform her back to normal.

"You can't mean..." she started to have thought before going back to reality.

"Roll arranged everything about that battle. She wanted you to be free of my mark," Mr. Wily stated as he sits on the bed next to her. "And by having you defeat her, she wanted to set you up as the 'hero' who avenged the Sakurai family."

"No, I won't believe it!" Maylu still retorted and started to yell in disbelief. "She's... Roll's evil! She's a criminal. She betrayed me and became Empress!"

"That was just part of Roll's plan as well. Become Empress, then spy on Mr. Match and Maddy through their Navis, TorchMan and WackoMan. Even after betraying your orders and sided with them, her heart lay with your team, and most of all, with you."

"It's a lie! IT'S A LIE! AS IF ALL THAT COULD EVER HAPPEN!" the redhead yelled in disbelief.

"It isn't a lie. She thought more of you than..." Mr. Wily said before he got interruption from her.

"Stop it! It's all a big..." she is in disbelief from all this.

"Roll didn't said, 'I hate you', to you, did she?!"

Upon hearing these words, Maylu remembered that she didn't say those three words when she rebelled on her control. Therefore, she is shocked and started to take in the truth.

"As a result, your eyes didn't see through Roll at all," the old man stands up and looks at her from the front. "Roll betrayed the Sakurai, her former NetOp's friends, superiors, and parents. But her NetOp alone, she could not betray. She killed all of her happiness on that day, saved for tears of remorse, and betrayed her own best friend's family. However, she could not bring herself to betray you. Do you understand what that means? To her, your life is more precious than even the city. Up until the moment of her deletion. No, even after she died... By allowing you to kill her, she achieved revenge against the Sakurai family by making you out to be the city's hero. For the peace of DenTech City, and most of all for you, Maylu Sakurai, she desired to die as a criminal and a traitor. Accepted disgrace in the place of honor and hate in place of love, and Roll still got deleted with a smile on her face. She bequeathed to you the Sakurai name, still fooling you to the very end."

He looks at Maylu as she started to take in those words he said.

"That is the truth behind Roll," Mr. Wily then left the room and waited for her response to this. "Call me when you make a response of that."
