CHAPTER 4
And with that, a week was gone in a blink of an eye. Surprisingly, the day after that, someone showed up at the girls' doorstep asking for their help to find a missing person and, being busy, not once they stepped into the Dal or in dark territory - the client was a pure fae of the light as she liked to call herself - and, in the end, the story had ended up being easier than expected: the missing boy was on the run with his girlfriend who was the daughter of the opponent house. Not standing their parents hate for one another they decided to flee the city. Pity they were underage and without money.
Finally, once the modern Romeo and Juliet had been returned to the respective family, Bo and Kenzi were free to spend their reward at their favorite Pub. They made the usual loud entrance, laughing, but the music and happy chatting inside, covered their voices.
- Well, must be an happy weekend. - observed Bo approaching the bar.
- It's going to be good to me too once Trickster has gave me m'a drink! - exclaimed Kenzi laying exhausted on the counter.
- Is she alright? - ask the bartender to his granddaughter, chuckling in his usual good mood.
Bo smiled at the sight of her best friend completely sprawled next to her.
- Romeo and Juliet dried her energy. - she stated like she was saying the most normal thing in this world.
- I didn't think that you were the book kind! - said the voice behind them, making fun of the human.
- Rude! - retorted Kenzi trying to hit Dyson blindfold.
The wolf laughed loudly and went to sit next to her while Trick served them their beverages.
- Finally! Come to mama my love! - exulted Kenzi in joy at the sight of her glass of vodka.
Glass that was emptied in less then thirty seconds.
When she was hitting towards the third drink Dyson took her glass away causing her to whine like a little girl who's favorite doll was being stolen.
- You need to slow down Kenz, this is no good for you. - scolded the wolf with the smile on his lips. Kenzi glared at him nastily.
- Easy to talk for you! Now gimme back m'a drink! - exclaimed visually angry at him.
Dyson sighed and raised withe flag: the last thing he wanted was to fight with the girl.
Half an hour later the happy and rowdy atmosphere was diminishing giving space to a more quiet and fuzzy feeling. Everyone in the room was chilling with friends and beer and the chatting was increasing over the light music; Bo had disappeared some time earlier with Lauren, Dyson too had to go because of a sudden job and so Kenzi was once again left to her self and her alcohol which was making her more than sick. Her stomach was turning upside down when she stood up of the chair and run outside. The fresh air of the night hit her as soon as she opened the door helping her to feel a bit better. She laid back on the wall, breathing slowly, hidden in the dark of the alley. After a couple minutes of deep breathing someone approached her: being blinded by the dark she felt a chill of danger and fear down her spine. Her muscles tensed, ready to react to every possible threat.
- Kenzi? What the hell are you doing there? -
The familiar British accent came to her ears as the biggest of relieves .
Her body relaxed at once giving her a faint and quick black out.
The man rushed over and helped her on her feet. The familiar scent of alcohol reached his nostrils: it was so strong it almost stang.
- Hell girl! How much did you drink?! -
Stupid question, indeed. It was obvious that this time, without someone to watch over her, she had drink her self to sickness.
She was about to throw up, he needed to reach the bathroom before it was too late.
- Kenz, can you walk? - no answer. She was just staring at him with a stupid smile on her face.
- Bloody hell girl! -
With an arm wrapped around her waist he tried to move a couple steps towards the door but every time Kenzi risked to sprain an ankle. Damn her and her ridiculously high heels! Vex had no other choice but to lift her in between his arms and walk into the Dal. When the door closed behind him every pair of eyes in the room was on them: no one could ever had imagined to live long enough to see the mighty Vex carry a girl in distress in princess style. He certainly was no prince but his favorite human deserved to be treated that way, at least in his eyes she was a real princess.
A lot of minutes, swears and sweat later Kenzi was finally feeling better, the same thing couldn't be said about the mesmer though, he was now possibly even more tired than she was.
-I'll drive you home, but first just sit there and let me drink something. - told her while they left the bathroom. She sat quietly at a table, arms crossed on the smooth wood. She was about to fall asleep. Vex rushed over the counter and quickly - but politely - asked for a glass of whiskey.
- Put it on Kenzi's, she owns me. - he told Trick after he finished his drink. The blood king watched the mesmer going back to the human in confusion. He was missing some piece of the puzzle.
In the small distance from the bar to the car the cold air of 3 in the morning woke Kenzi up a bit, enough to gain some self consciousness.
- Are we going to your place? - asked him in a embarrassed whisper.
Vex sighed.
- Certainly not, I've had quite enough of you tonight, love. I'm driving you home to your succubest. -
Kenzi saddened a bit, she didn't want to stay home all alone.
When the car stopped in front of the clubhouse all the lights were off, the silence was so laud that it hurt. Also, there was no sign of Bo's auto.
- She must be out...feasting with Lauren... - said Kenzi when Vex pointed out the absence of the vehicle.
- Feasting on Lauren sounds better... -
Kenzi rose her shoulders, in that very moment she couldn't care less.
- Come on girl, you own me at least a beer for the bother. -
-yeah, yeah. -
Both of them got off the car and went in. Kenzi turned up the lights and, without even worrying about locking the door she just sat on the couch and removed her shoes, laying down with the legs up on the back of the sofa.
Vex made his way in the house like it was his own, went up to the fridge and took a beer for himself. He was feeling way too tired for his tastes and that quite hurt his nerves. For the pas week the girl didn't show up once at that shabby pub or in dark territory and so he haven't had a chance to spend time with her. And now that he finally met her she was drunk and he was tired. What a nice night.
He sat sighing right next to her, sipping his beer and cursing in his mind. While occupied with his own problem he failed to notice Kenzi snuggling towards him. She had decide to take advantage of his legs as a pillow.
As it was nothing he started to pet her head with his free hand and playing gently with her soft and perfumed hair.
Kenzi was feeling so comfortable and good she could have purred. She had always loved when someone played with her hair; it was not only a pleasant feeling, there was more, something like a hot, warming sensation that filled her. In simple words, for her, that was a very good foreplay.
- Are you still awake? - asked Vex once his beer was finished.
Kenzi murmured something that could have been either a yes or just a simple sleep noise. He assumed she was already asleep and gently moved her aside to stand up. It was probably better to call it a day.
- Don't go... - whispered the girl. Vex turned around and found Kenzi's big and deep blue eyes looking at him in a way that made his hart race. That glimpse was an unknown territory he would have explored with pleasure.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND CUT!
That was perfect *clap clap*
AH, sorry if I leave you with this, I promise to be back soon!
Thanks again!
