After Ellie and Bryce left Sarah settled into the chair next the Chuck's bed. She was sort of depressed that not everything worked out with the surgery. Chuck however, was pretty up beat that his mind was not turned into mush. It was about half way through the shift that Morgan and Alex appeared at the door. Chuck welcomed them both in with very high spirits.
"Chuck old Buddy how are you doing?" Morgan asked while holding on to a potted plant.
"Morgan I'm doing great. What is the plant for Morgan?" Chuck asked.
Alex butted in at this point.
"Morgan has been reading up on the best way to cheer up someone in hospital. He found that green living thing improves the patient's healing time…" Alex said.
"…And helps ward off depression" Chuck said finishing that sentence, "Well Little Buddy I read that too. Thanks for the gift just the same."
"Chuck you just stay there and I'll place it in the window that way you can see it every morning." Morgan said.
"Like he could do anything else?" Sarah said under her breath,
Morgan whose hearing was acute caught that comment.
"What do you mean Sarah?" he asked as he turned to look at her.
"Morgan… Please leave Sarah alone…There was a complication with the surgery. Morgan I'm paralyzed from the waist down. I know it is a set back." Chuck said.
"Wait my Buddy is paralyzed? Like Professor Xavier? Are you going to work on your mind control like him too? Or you could have a cool wheelchair to fight off the bad guys… With missile launchers and sleeping gas…" Morgan said getting all excited.
Alex grabbed his arm to calm him down.
Chuck laughed at his hetero life partner's exaggerated ideas.
"No Morgan…I won't be getting into a wheelchair anytime soon. This paralysis is only temporary. It should wear off in a few Weeks or Months. It is not like I will be bedridden for the rest of my life." Chuck said putting a positive spin on such a setback.
"So has Sarah told you about her mission?" Morgan asked.
Sarah looked reluctant to discuss it.
"Sarah Ellie has installed our tech here it is perfectly safe to talk if that worries you." Chuck said.
"Well it was one concern but Chuck you are healing you do not need to worry about me!" Sarah protested.
"Come on Sarah this is me…Sure I have some limitations but this way you know I'll be staying in the Car." Chuck said.
That last statement got her to laugh.
"That's my girl…So what about this mission…I could be like my Dad being the eyes and ears…" Chuck said.
"Are you talking about the Cloak?" Sarah asked "…Doesn't it take much energy to run that thing?"
"Yeah but to observe you can use less energy. It is still a drain but I have a few ideas to improve it." Chuck said.
Morgan was confused about this talk about a Cloak. Chuck continued.
"How do you know of the Cloak? Oh you been snooping for your Christmas gift huh? Well little miss spy it not where you think it would be." Chuck said.
Sarah pouted then reached over to kiss him.
"Nope that will not work either my lips are sealed." Chuck said.
Alex noticed how cute a couple they were.
"So Sarah not that I do mind the attention you are paying to my lips what about this mission?" Chuck asked.
Sarah looked at Morgan then to Chuck.
"I was asked by Beckman to go to Russia…I'm supposed to infiltrate Volkoff Industries…" Sarah said.
"You'll be looking for Frost won't you Sarah?" Chuck asked.
"How did you know?" Sarah asked.
"I had the knowledge just pop into my head when you said Volkoff. Sarah, my Mother is a Bad Guy. She helps run Volkoff Industries with Alexi Volkoff. It is a suicide mission Sarah. You can not meet her in any way. She is lost." Chuck said.
"I don't believe that she is unredeemable…Chuck you saved me and I have done probably more bad things than she. She is your Mother Chuck. You have to let me try. I want to do this for you." Sarah said.
"Sarah I appreciate the sentiment but I could not protect you…Besides I saw her infiltration into Castle. Luckily LARA my AI caught it and fed her disinformation. She is convinced Bryce Larkin is the human Intersect. With the disguises Bryce can have he could lead them around the world wasting their resources." Chuck said.
That was news to both Morgan and Sarah.
"So Bruce would act …" Morgan said.
"…As the magnet… Yes old buddy he would." Chuck said.
"Well Chuck this would be the perfect time to infiltrate." Sarah said.
"Perhaps…Please Sarah talk to Ellie first before making any decision." Chuck said.
"Hey Guys are you hungry? I have a great new Chinese take out menu here." Morgan said
Chuck's eyes got wide.
"Morgan bring to me that menu!" Chuck ordered.
"Gee Chuck if I knew you were this hungry I would have ordered sooner." Morgan said handing it over.
"Morgan Chuck is not hungry…He saw something didn't you Chuck." Sarah said.
"Yes I did…Morgan this is not a regular take out menu. It is all the weapons systems for sale under Volkoff Industries." Chuck said turning the menu over in his hands.
"What so that is a smorgasbord for Bad Guys R Us?" Morgan asked.
"It would seem so Morgan where did you get this?" Chuck asked "…Never mind I'll find you on my PSP." Chuck said as he pulled out his modified PSP to back track to see how Morgan got this menu.
Chuck's eyes went wide.
"Morgan you got it from my Mom in the lobby. Let me scan this menu." Chuck said.
"Yes I was correct it was a bug embedded in the layers. Luckily my tech is far more advance for this simple listening device…Though it can not leave this room. It will transmit as soon as it leaves this field." Chuck said.
"So why don't you destroy it?" Morgan asked.
Chuck shook his head and showed the internals of the scan on his PSP.
"What is that?" Morgan asked pointing at the dark area.
"That Morgan is a bomb. It could wreck this room but I think it was placed to prevent tampering." Chuck said. "I know what to do. Morgan have you watered my plant?"
"No not yet…Why Chuck?" Morgan asked.
"I want you to remove the plant from the pot insert this menu then repot the plant then water it ok Little Buddy?" Chuck said.
"I get it you are going to soak the paper loose with the water then the fertilizer in the soil will deactivate the explosive…That is brilliant Chuck." Sarah said getting up to kiss him.
Morgan did as Chuck instructed. He added the water then there was a fitz then a bit of smoke rose from the plant.
"That was great Morgan you did it." Chuck praised his friend.
"Yeah but now we can not use that for a lead" Morgan said removing the soggy menu out of the plant.
"Not quite Morgan I saw it and it is up here. I can recall it at any time." Chuck said pointing at his head.
"Right I forgot you have perfect recall…It sure came in handy at school huh?" Morgan said.
Chuck now turned to Sarah.
"You still think Frost is redeemable? She just tried to blow us all up." Chuck said.
Sarah could not refute Chuck's superb analysis.
"Chuck she needs to be brought to justice." Sarah whispered.
"Yes I know but you do not need to do it. We have another way cripple his money distribution." Chuck said.
"How we don't know where he keeps his money Chuck." Morgan said.
"We do know now!" Chuck said. "It is the 1st Bank of Macao"
