Things on the wing had started to calm down especially with Carla, Michelle and Amy's absence. Denzy and Jessica had won over almost everyone with their lies and tales of that quiet inmate Amy, so as she was being returned to the wing today, they were getting ready for her arrival. When the two officers finally reached the wing with Amy, the whole place erupted in noise. Everyone shouted abuse and nasty little insults at her as the officers escorted her to her cell. Not brave enough to look up and face any of them, Amy concentrated on watching her feet as she walked. Thrown into her cell she was locked in for her own protection but she could still hear all of their taunts from outside.
Sitting down on her bed Amy finally broke down in the tears she had been holding back whilst she was being escorted. She was in pieces; being accused of grievous bodily harm with intent to kill after what had happened to Michelle. No one had believed when she had tried to blame the others on the wing and of course why would they, Denzy was in with them all and of course they were going to protect her. Sarah had twisted everything Amy had said and very convincingly got the result that Denzy had wanted. Amy in the frame and herself clear. Tears ran down her cheeks as she sat shivering. She feared for the future and hoped when Michelle was better that she would get the truth told and all of this would go away. Outside all the other prisoners sounded so hateful and she knew this wasn't going to just disappear any time soon.
In the hospital wing Michelle had also been given the all clear to be returned to the wing but was informed she wouldn't be sharing a cell with Amy any longer for her own protection. Slightly confused Michelle wondered how this had been to come, but she had been through so much she didn't actually question the move. First she was taken to a meeting with chief prison guard Miss Jones. Just a routine check to make sure she was alright and inducted again correctly. Procedure with a medical patient always had to be followed to make sure that they were updated with any changes they may face and to help them feel comfortable again. Michelle sat nervously opposite Miss Jones and listened carefully to all she was saying. When she started explaining about the incident and their investigation Michelle's head had begun pounding. After weeks having passed, the whole incident was just one big blur to her, so everything Sarah told her she was taking at face value.
Michelle still left the office baffled, even though Sarah had told her the attack on her was by Amy she wasn't quite convinced. She kept quiet and mulled it all over in her head as she was escorted back to the wing, only to be surprised to find everyone clapping when she appeared. Looking around she searched the small huddled groups for Amy's face but she wasn't present. Shown to her new cell she was left to settle in with a younger girl named Louise. Unfortunately Louise was one of Denzy's followers, and a loyal one at that. She smiled at Michelle taking her by surprise. Michelle meekly smiled back as Louise pushed herself off of the wall and approached her.
"Hope you're ok" she mumbled as Denzy appeared in the doorway with Jessica loyally at her side.
"We all do" she stated bluntly in a low, deep and controlled voice, which made Michelle jump and turn around.
She suddenly felt very anxious and cornered. She knew about Denzy, knew what she was capable of but had forgotten that it was her that had put in the state she was now. Sauntering in, Denzy, Jessica and Louise surrounded Michelle, who tried her best to keep her cool but was certain she looked petrified. They crowded in so close Michelle felt jumpy and then they started quietly to talk amongst themselves until Denzy grabbed Michelle by the arm and pulled her to the far back of the room, where she then ordered the other two out.
"Now Michelle. I thought me and you would have a little chat" Denzy stated with a grin and glint in her eye.
Michelle responded with only the nod of her head and then when instructed by Denzy quickly sat down on the lower of the two bunks in the room. Denzy had a very serious look on her face, and it was not without good reason. Michelle sat rigidly with wide shocked eyes as Denzy recited to Michelle her version of events. Michelle was in shock but actually believing the lies she was being fed. Denzy continued to smirk seeing that her influence on Michelle was actually working. So far she had manipulated Michelle into thinking that Amy was actually guilty and that she would protect her, for a price of course. All Denzy wanted, for now, was Michelle's loyalty. Frightened by what she had been told by not only Denzy but Sarah also Michelle took Denzy's hand and shook on the deal.
A few days more passed and a stronger Carla was also told she would be returning to the wing. After all she had been through she wasn't sure she wanted to return, but had been medically assessed and declared mentally well enough to. Her only relief was that she was actually going to be re-united with Michelle and that was something that at least left her feeling pleased. They had been apart too long and unlike Michelle, Carla had an idea of who had actually put her in the condition in which she had last seen her.
Looking a little run down and placed in a tracksuit that didn't flatter her at all she was looking forward to getting back in her own clothes. She hoped very much that it would boost her confidence and restore her to the version of herself she preferred. This vulnerable girl was not a character she wished to play again in her life, because the times before had been enough for her. She was quiet and emotionless, but deep inside Carla the fighter was resurfacing. Taking a deep breath she allowed herself to be escorted back only to find the wing empty. It was recreation time so everyone was outside, everyone that was but Amy who had been allowed out to walk around. Carla saw her sadly sat at the table as she was returned to her cell. After getting changed she had been ordered by the guard to report to them to be taken outside also. Poking her head out the cell door she looked to find the guard who had been minding her chatting with a colleague just at the staircase. She wanted to talk with Amy, find out why she was in alone and needed a plan. Picking the first thing that came to mind she hunched her shoulders, ruffled her hair up a bit so it looked as if it hadn't been brushed and the proceeded to leave the cell.
In a most dramatic act Carla stumbled into the wall and loudly groaned to make her presence known. Leaning against the wall she doubled herself over and grabbed her stomach. She knew she had to make enough of a scene to make it seem realistic. Rushing over the two officers tried to aid her but Carla insisted all she needed was a lay down and was firm to notify them she didn't feel much like going outside. Willingly they escorted her inside of her cell and then they disappeared. Carla was pleased with the success of her little plan and after a few moments got up from her bed and looked back into the wing. Amy was still sat alone at the end of the wing but luckily the officers were nowhere to be seen.
"Amy" she whispered loudly to grab the girl's attention.
Getting up Amy looked all around her before hurrying over to Carla and giving her a big hug. She was a friendly face and Amy needed that right now. Hurrying her inside Carla shut the door to and then sat down as she looked up expectantly at Amy.
"So why are you in here by yourself?" Carla asked curiously.
Amy's bottom lip trembled and she looked as if she was about to burst into tears. Carla had really had no idea, and Amy began to break down right in front of her. Getting up as quickly as she could Carla wrapped her arms around the young girl. Surely it couldn't be that bad, could it?
"Look you know you can tell me anything. What has happened?" Carla softly asked as she held Amy back from her so that she could look her in the eye and show her sincerity.
"They think I did it Carla. They think I hurt Michelle like that" She cried and Carla quickly pulled her back into an embrace. She could tell the young girl was distraught but surely Michelle had corrected everyone.
"Hey, don't you worry Amy. We'll get this sorted" advised Carla as she held the girl and narrowed her eyes at the wall. This was all Denzy's doing and Carla swore she'd get revenge.
