DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN THE LION KING

Chapter 11: "Growing Up: Part 2"

A FEW MONTHS LATER…..

The seasons had finally changed and it was now the spring season. Pride Rock was still under turmoil because of Scar, but last season the lionesses formed a plan. Last season, the lioness had found out something so terrible that it sickened them to their very core. Not only did Scar want Anaya, but he wanted an heir from her too.

But little did Scar know that the lionesses knew of his plot and formed their own counterplan. Every single one of the pride had dreaded this day, because this was the most likely day, that Anaya and Nala would flee the Pridelands and never return. Since the last season, Anaya and Nala had matured into beautiful young lionesses and Scar noticed this greatly. One of the core reasons that Scar wanted Anaya so badly was because of how close she was to the old king, his despised brother Mufasa and to Sarabi. To Mufasa, Anaya was like a daughter to him. Scar remembered those times when Mufasa would spend time with her and teach her so many things. He cherished Anaya almost as much as he cherished his son and Scar wanted to break hat. He wanted to break Anaya and torture everyone, even his dead brother, of how he would hurt her.

At the moment, both Anaya and Nala were in the small woods. They both came here a lot because this was the place where they mourned over their dead friend and where their friendship and sisterhood began.

"How far will we have to travel, Nala?" Anaya asked

"As far as we need to, Anaya. We need to make sure that Scar or the hyenas can never find us" she answered. Anaya sighed. Why did this have to happen to them? What had she done to deserve this?" It almost seemed as if life had a bad habit of putting Anaya down.

"I'm sorry, Nala " Anaya whispered

"About what?" Nala asked.

""About this whole thing. If I wouldn't have joined the pride, none of this would've happened. We wouldn't have to run away and Mufasa,…..Mufasa would be-"

"Anaya" Nala warned, "Don't you dare blame Mufasa's death on you because it's not your fault. You weren't even there when it happened. None of us were" she said

"I'm sorry but….I can't help but think that if I would've never have come, everything would've been okay" Anaya sad sadly and sat down. Nala smiled softly and nudged her sister's cheek with her nose.

"Anaya…..you're the best thing that has ever happened to this pride. You bring so much joy here and if you didn't have come, if Rafiki wouldn't have brought you to us….I wouldn't have a sister right now" she said. Anaya smiled with tears in her eyes and nuzzled her older sister.

"We're gonna be fine. I'll make sure of it" Nala added and then pulled away. They smiled at each other before leaving the woods and returning to Pride Rock where everyone was. The lionesses welcomed back the two of them but the atmosphere was tense. Anaya went to her mother.

"Mom, what's wrong?" she asked her.

"Scar…..he…..he wishes to see us" she said. Anaya gulped. That couldn't be good at all. Suddenly, a pack of hyenas came forward to the group and glared at them and then smiled a sick, twisted smile.

"King Scar….would like to see you know" one hyena said. All the lionesses bravely stepped forward, but the hyenas growled.

"Only her" one said and pointed to Anaya. Shivers ran up her spine. Zahra looked worriedly at her daughter and pulled her close to her side.

"If anything goes wrong or you feel the need for help, scream or roar and we're there" Zahra whispered. Anaya nodded and then took a deep breath before walking up to the cave.

She carefully looked inside and then gasped when he saw yellow eyes staring at her. Then a creepy voice chuckled.

"Come in, Anaya. No need to be….frightened" he said slowly. She gulped and pushed herself to move slightly forward. Scar moved slowly out of the shadows of the cave and towards the lioness in a hunter like manner, something she was well accustomed to. Scar circled Anaya slowly, making her feel very uncomfortable and wanting to scream at this very moment. She gulped and waited patiently for Scar to talk.

"Now, Anaya…..the reason I wanted to speak with you…..is to let you know something that has come to my….attention" he said with a small growl in his voice with a creepy smile.

"What is it?" she asked

"You see,….I've seen great…potential in you" he said, brushing his fur against hers. She shivered in disgust and tried to hold back the nausea inside of her. Scar grinned at her and moved his face close to hers. She remained firm and stood her ground, not wanting to show how freaked out she really was.

"I want you to be by my side, Anaya…..you and I…could rule this kingdom…perfectly" he said, inching closer to her.

"No, Scar" she said. Scar smirked. He knew she was going to say that.

"I knew you were going to say that, Anaya" he said and gave a nod to the hyenas. The hyenas grinned evilly and formed a wall in front of the cave, trapping Anaya in.

"You will be my Queen, Anaya and you will give me an heir. I AM king and I will rule better than Mufasa ever could. And I will rule better than my dead nephew ever could have" he said with a sick smile. Finally, Anaya had enough. It was time. And then suddenly, without warning, she growled lowly and raised her paw, and scratched Scar's face. He roared out and then she ran towards the entrance and pushed her way through the hyenas. They fell over and Scar looked up and chuckled darkly as blood ran did the side of cheek, with the scar he had obtained.

Anaya roared loudly and the lionesses readied themselves as a band of hyenas came charging at them. She ran and jumped off the rocks, avoiding many hyenas while Scar came to the edge of Pride Rock and glared at his pride.

"Don't let her escape!" He roared. Nala scratched many hyenas and roared ferociously at them. Zahra saw Anaya coming down and ran by her side, but the hyenas were still going.

"Go, Anaya! Run!" she yelled and fought of the hyenas as well. Anaya reached Nala and then they both flew off, running away from the battle. Some hyenas were on their trail, but they were able to run faster and escape their clutches. Sarabi smiled in relief and had tears brimming in her eyes.

"Goodbye" she whispered to herself as she watched the two lionesses run for their lives into the night…..

Over in the large forest, the now fully grown prince was relaxing under the stars with his friends Timon and Pumbaa. The prince then let out a large belch after a fulfilling amount of grubs he ate.

"BUUUUUURPPP!" Simba belched

"Whoa! Nice one, Simba" Timon commented

"Thanks. Man, I'm stuffed" Simba said rubbing his belly.

"Me too; I ate like a pig!" Pumbaa added

"Pumbaa, you are a pig" Simba reminded him with a small smile

"Oh….yea" Pumbaa said. Then the three friends sighed in content and gazed up at the night sky.

"Timon?" Pumbaa asked

"Yea?" Timon replied

"Ever wonder what those sparkly dots are?"

"Pumbaa, I don't wonder, I know"

"Oh,….what are they?"

"They're fireflies. Fireflies….they got stuck up in that big bluish black thing"

"Oh…gee…..I always thought they were balls of gas burning millions of miles away"

"Pumbaa, with you, everything's gas"

"Simba, what do you think?" Pumbaa asked

"Well…..I don't know" Simba said quickly. Timon and Pumbaa pleaded and pleaded their friend to at least let them know of what he thought those things in the sky were and finally, Simba surrendered.

"Well,….somebody once told me….that the Great Kings of the Past are up there….watching over us" he said

"Really?" Pumbaa asked with amazement.

"You mean a bunch of royal dead guys are watching us?" Timon asked with a quizzical expression and then bursted into fits of laughter, as did Pumbaa.

"Who told you something like that?! What mook made that up?!" Timon laughed. Simba chuckled uncomfortably.

"Yea, pretty dumb, huh?" he said and then frowned as he looked up to the stars again. His heart became filled with sadness as he thought about his father being up there with the other great kings. He sighed and then got up and went to the edge over to the far side of the cliff they laid on. Timon and Pumbaa became concerned.

"Was it something I said?" Timon asked

Simba looked longingly up at the sky and imagined his father's face. Tears brimmed in his eyes and then he flopped down onto the ground and covered his eyes with his paw as he cried softly...

It soon became morning and the winds were changing once again. The two lionesses were still running and had finally made it out of the Pridelands and were nearing into the deserted lands before they came to the desert. In one of the large trees of the deserted, the old wise baboon, Rafiki was sitting there watching and feeling the winds pass by him. He looked and noticed some little pieces of dirt, feathers, and minerals floating in the air and he immediately caught it in his hand. He took a good whiff of the small particles and then became puzzled. For some reason, these particles smelled familiar or had a familiar scent on them. He leaped down and climbed back into his home and spread out the particles to get a better smell and view. He broke a melon in half and then whiffed the small particles some more until it hit him. He knew where he smelt this scent before!

"Simba?" he asked himself with astonishment. He smelled again and realized that this scent was recent and that could only mean one thing. He looked to the drawing he painted of the prince long ago and smiled widely.

"He's, he's alive? Hehe, he's alive!" Rafiki yelled happily. The baboon went to grab his stick and leaped back over to the drawing, but this time he laughed happily and drew a red mane around the old picture. It was then that he heard the sound of two breaths and footsteps approaching the area. He went to the edge and grinned widely as he saw Anaya and Nala about to pass by.

"YOUNG ONES!" He called out. The two stopped in their tracks and panted as they looked up to the large tree. Anaya smiled widely with surprise.

"Rafiki!" she exclaimed

"Hello, Anaya! Hello, Nala! Rafiki is happy to see you both!"

"It's good to see you too!" Anaya replied. Nala smiled

"Rafiki has something to ask!" he said

"What is it?" Nala asked. Rafiki giggled. Then the winds blew again and he smiled as he knew where these winds where coming from. Mufasa.

"Follow the winds, young ones! Follow the winds, and guide you de will!" he told them. The winds blew towards the directions of the sand dunes.

"Are you sure?" Anaya asked

"De winds will guide you and he will guide you too!" Rafiki said with a giggle. Anaya nodded and bid her friend goodbye, as did Nala, and then they took off towards the sand dunes. Rafiki smiled to himself and the sky. Over the sand dunes was where the forest was and past that was where Simba was. He looked at the painting and smiled widely.

"It is time!" he said as he took off as well to bring back the true Lion King….

YES! Anaya and Nala escaped and Mufasa is now guiding them to Simba with Rafiki following them! Things are gonna happen! And a special reunion will happen in the next chapter!

R&R peeps!
