Chapter 12: "The Reunion"

With harsh winds, dry temperature and hungry bellies; Nala and Anaya were literally to the point of starvation. It had been days since their last meal, which was hardly anything and they began to feel winded. For two days, they ran with no food or water and without stopping to rest. Now it was becoming a necessity to obtain food and fast.

At this point, both lionesses were famished with hunger. Their bodies were close to thinning as they sagged through the dead plains of the savannah.

"N-Nala?" Anaya asked and then collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily through her mouth. Nala gasped and ran to her best friend/sister and nudged her with her nose.

"Anaya?! C'mon Anaya, we need to stay strong" she murmured to the younger lioness. Anaya licked her dry lips but her tongue was just as shriveled as the rest of her.

"I…..I don't…..I can't Nala" she said quietly and then tears ran down her face.

"I'm right here, Anaya" Nala whispered and then laid beside her friend, "I'm right here". Anaya's normal breathing had returned but she was still exhausted from everything. Nala was extremely tired as well but of course she wanted to be the rock that held the two sisters together. After all, they were all they had for each other at the moment.

Anaya and Nala laid against one another for a while, just trying to catch their breaths and rest up from the lack of needed sleep for the past two days. Nala looked down at Anaya and sighed. 'I'm supposed to be taking care of her and yet I'm draining her energy out' she thought to herself. She looked down again at her younger sister and gently nuzzled her head before falling straight to sleep.

In the jungle where the now older prince resided in, his two caretakers/best friends were casually walking through while humming and singing a little tune, however one of them got distracted and left the other alone.

"I can't hear ya Pumbaa! Back me up! A-WEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEE-EEEEEEEE A PUMMBAA BAM BA WAY!" Timon finished and then was shocked to see Pumbaa had disappeared. Pumbaa followed the small, yet tasty looking bug through the dry parts of the savannah, yet he didn't realize that others were there too. Nala and Anaya smiled in delight and relief when they both saw a fat juicy warthog away from them.

"Finally! Some food!" Anaya said and was ready to hunt him down but Nala stopped her.

"Anaya, no. You're still weak and you need to rest more" Nala advised

"C'mon Nala, you know I can do it"

"I know you can but I'd rather let it run away then see you faint or get hurt".

Anaya was touched that Nala cared that much about her safety and health and nodded in agreement.

"I'll handle this" she said in a low tone and then her eyes zeroed in on Pumbaa as she slowly stalked closer. Anaya followed quietly behind.

Pumbaa was so into the bug that he didn't realize the predators close behind him, that is, until he looked at the bug on the log and then noticed two moving figures in the dead grass. Two pairs of blue eyes that had turned bright green color from the sun's reflection inched closer and closer and that's when he freaked out.

"AHHHHHHHH!" he screamed and then the two lionesses roared ferociously and began their chase as Pumbaa darted into the jungle. He panted heavily as he tried to outrun and outsmart both of them. Nala lost her footing and tripped over but Anaya continued on, baring her sharp teeth at him too. Pumbaa raced up the old wide tree and Anaya followed him and used her claws to grip onto the roots of the tree and trying to grab him at the same time.

Timon's head perked up when he heard Pumbaa's cry for help.

"Pumbaa?" he said and then went off running for him when he heard his friend scream some more.

"Pumbaa! Pumbaa!" he yelled and then Pumbaa darted through the bushes and ran right into a small hold created by a tree root and got stuck in it.

"Pumbaa! Hey, what's going on?!" Timon asked

"THEY'RE GONNA EAT ME!" Pumbaa screamed. Timon looked behind him and saw two hungry lionesses running at fast speed towards them.

"WHOA! Geez! Why do I always have to your AHHHHHHHHHH!" Timon yelled as Nala pounced forward to finish them and then suddenly, a male lion emerged from behind the tree and leaped high into the air roaring fiercely at the two. Nala stopped immediately and looked at him but was quickly taken down by his weight. She roared and scratched at him but his weight was too heavy for her to push off.

Anaya gasped in shock as her sister was pinned down and then, with newly renowned energy, she bared her teeth and pounced onto the male lion and pushed him off of her sister. Simba was surprised at the other lioness's boldness and bravery but fought her. The two engaged in a heated battle of strength, clawing and roaring at each other. Nala tried to intervene sometimes but Anaya was too wrapped up in her battle that she was determined to not lose.

"Don't worry buddy, I'm here for ya! Everything's gonna be okay" Timon reassured but then looked skeptically at the situation. Though Simba was a male and had an upper body strength advantage, Anaya was still not backing down and showed her strength too.

"Get her! Bite her head!" Timon encouraged but Simba wasn't listening to him. He clawed at Anaya and she growled at him. The two of them pulled away from their struggle and just bared their teeth at each other and glared harshly at one another. And then Anaya scratched Simba's hair down and roared at him again and the battle continued.

'Go for the jugular! The jugular! See I told ya he'd come in handy!" Timon remarked.

Simba then pounced on the lioness and they rolled in the air, but Anaya got the upperhand and effectively pinned him to the ground. She panted heavily and glared down at him while baring her vicious teeth at him. Simba was shocked beyond belief because not only had he lost, but only one other lion had overpowered him and that was when they were kids. And then he looked at her once again before coming to his conclusion of who she and the other lioness were.

"Anaya?" he said
