*Shyly peeks head from behind door*
Hi...PLEASE DON'T HATE ME. I have no excuse other than that I got caught up with Backfired. I'M SO SORRY GUYS. ANYWAY, here's chapter 5!
Jason and I turned in our project. I was done with him.
I was also ready for Bianca to visit.
I loved it when Bianca visited. We always met at the McDonald's by my house at 4:00 on the 4th Saturday of each month.
I eagerly sat in the chair, bouncing slightly. I had to admit, I was really excited. I always got giddy when I thought about Bianca visiting.
Soon, Bianca was 5 minutes late.
It's probably traffic, I thought dismissively.
10 minutes.
20 minutes.
By then, I called her twice, but she didn't pick up. Since I was ADHD, I needed something to focus on, so I looked up at the TV, which was on the news. It was talking about a car crash a few streets away.
Then I frowned.
One of the cars looked a lot like Bianca's.
My heart sped up. My eyes went wide.
"BOB!" I shouted to my frined who worked there. "Turn it up, NOW! I think that's my sister!"
Bob's eyes also went wide, and he turned up the volume.
"-two victims of a horrible crash on the corner of Second and third street. One of the victims, Percy Jackson, suffered a mere broken arm. The other victim, who was identified by a school ID as Bianca di Angelo, died in the crash from head trauma. It-"
My heart dropped. the world stopped. Suddenly, before I knew what I was doing, I was up and running. I ran out the door, down the street, toward Second and Third.
I have to get there this can't be true this is a lie she can't be dead Bianca no no no no no
My thoughts were jumbled, and I soon got there.
The scene was horrible.
Two cars, a blue Prius and a silver Honda were against each other, both severely damaged. I could see them bringing Percy to an ambulance.
Then I saw.
I watched as a stretcher carried Bianca's body to another ambulance.
"NO!" My voice surprised me. I had shouted, something I had never done before. A cop rushed to me, his eyes wide.
"Son, you can't be here. You need to-"
"That's my sister!" I interjected, getting a growing feeling of hysteria. "THAT'S MY SISTER!" I pushed past the cop, running to the ambulance where they were bringing her. When I got there, the paramedics looked surprised, but they didn't stop me from grabbing Bianca's hand. I saw the giant gash in her head that had obiously been pouring blood.
"Bianca, no, you can't be dead, no, please, wake up, Bianca!" Soon I was shaking, and on the brink of sobbing, when a paramedic tried to pull me away.
"NO!" I shouted. "NO! YOU CAN'T! I NEED TO STAY WITH HER, I NEED TO STAY, I CAN'T LEAVE, SHE'S MY SISTER, WE WERE SUPPOSED TO MEET, WE HAD PLANS, SHE'S MY ONLY SISTER, BIANCA, NO!" I was struggling against the paramedic, trying to get to Bianca, but he carried me to the ambulance Percy was at.
"You need to calm down," the paramedic told me, "before you hyperventilate."
"BUT BIANCA!" I shouted. "You have to save her, you HAVE TO! BIANCA!" I was near hyperventilation, and I could see Percy looking at me. His eye were wide with shame, and remorse, and pain, and shock, and other emotions I didn't feel like identifying.
All I cared about was Bianca.
Eventually, I had to stop shouting.. My voice was going out.
"Please." I whispered, clutching to the paramedic like a child. "Please, you have to save her."
The paramedic looked heartbroken as he placed me on a stretcher and put a breathing mask over my face. I had somehow forgotten I was hyperventilating.
"I can't. I'm sorry. I'm so, so, sorry." He said.
My heart clenched, and I felt myself slipping away into darkness.
This is the gas they use to knock you out. I realized. The last, morbid thought I had was, I was right the first time.
It was traffic.
Then everything went black.
