Gwen hurriedly got her English book from her locker. She sighed and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

She was 15 minutes late for class already and she didn't want to be any later. If there was one thing she hated it was being late. She knew that though her English teacher probably wouldn't mind, it would disrupt the class and probably greatly amuse Jamie.

The reason she was late was because she had spent all of the night before re-doing her History notes and because of that she had overslept. Actually she would probably have been even later had Emily not called to remind her to bring in the home ec ingredients.

Now that she was actually in school she had a horrible feeling that she was after forgetting something very important though she couldn't for the life of her remember what. Still, the thought niggled at the back of her head annoying her.

She carefully opened the door to the English class.

''I'm sorry I'm late,'' she said, ''the alarm didn't go off.''

Actually it had but Gwen had ignored it being too tired to get up.

She frowned slightly at the suited man sitting at the back of the class taking notes.

Who could this be? she wondered.

''Come in , Gwen'' said Miss Beckett smiling a little strangely.

Gwen frowned a little deeper , what was going on?

Miss Beckett coughed.

''Gwen , meet Inspector Norris,'' she said, ''he shall be inspecting our school for the week."

Gwen was horrified, how could she have forgotten about the inspection? She gave a wan smile and sat down next to Jamie, who was sitting beside the only empty seat in the room.

"Oh shut up," she hissed at him, accidentally louder than she had intended.

Miss Beckett turned around, and raised an eyebrow at her, looking annoyed.

"Do you have something you want to say Gwendoline?" she asked with a glare.

Gwen shook her head, while Jamie chuckled silently beside her.

She turned and glared at him angrily.

He just smirked at her.

Geography class went by no better.

Gwen had forgotten all about the geography homework for today and Mr Lee was forced to give her detention.

It had been incredibly embarrassing as she had already told him the day before that she had it ready. Not only that but both Jamie and Keith were in the class and had spent most of it whispering to her, from the back of the class, causing everyone to pretty much stare at her.

To add to her bad day she had completely forgotten to prepare her music presentation and with a red face explained to Miss Danes that she wasn't ready yet.

It would have been alright, had Jamie not been there to laugh about it and tease her about being to busy thinking about him to do anything else. It was true in some sense though not in the way Jamie had meant it.

History was the last class of the day and Gwen was relieved that she at least had the notes she had spent all night rewriting.

But as luck would have it, in her mad rush to get to school that morning, she had completely forgotten to put them into her bookbag.

Needless to say the teacher wasn't impressed, and had even scolded her for not having the decency to at least own up to the fact that she just hadn't done them instead of making up childish excuses.

By this time Gwen was completely exhausted.

It had been the worst day of her life and even the thought of defeating aliens with Kevin and Ben wasn't comforting.

Kevin frowned at Gwen.

She had been silent all day and that wasn't like her, she hadn't even told him and Ben off for arguing in the car. She hadn't even asked how he found out about the DNAliens new hideout, something he had been dying to tell her as it had been pretty difficult.

''Are you okay?'' he asked uncertainly, scratching the back if his neck awkwardly.

She looked surprised as she turned to face him.

''Of course I am, what makes you ask that?'' she said, sounding surprised.

Kevin raised an eyebrow.

''Well I don't know,'' he drawled, ''maybe the fact that you've been ignoring me and Ben completely since we got into the car."

''Don't be ridiculous,'' said Gwen, ''I haven't been ignoring anyone''. She pursed her lips guiltily, realising that she probably had been ignoring them as she had been daydreaming most of the car ride.

''Oh really?'' said Kevin disbelievingly.

''Yes really,'' she said,''now concentrate on the road''.

''I am concentrating on the road but even if I'm not you wouldn't know since you're ignoring me'' said Kevin grinning slightly.

''I'm not ignoring anyone," persisted Gwen.

''Ben," called Kevin,''has Gwen been ignoring me?''

Ben looked down at the ultimatrix uncomfortably but said nothing. It was true that his cousin had been very quiet in the car but thinking it and telling her that he was thinking it were two very different things.

''Ben?'' questioned Gwen. She turned around to look at him pointedly.

''Well...you could maybe be...not as sociable as usual," he said awkwardly.

''See,'' said Kevin, ''even Ben thinks your ignoring me."

He glanced at her and saw that she looked a bit guilty. He turned back to the road, speeding up slightly and overtaking some old man who must have been driving at 10 miles an hour.

Gwen breathed deeply,''he didn't say that,'' she said.

''But he implied it,'' said Kevin meaningfully.

Gwen sighed, '' just drive,'' she said turning to look out of the window again.

Kevin frowned but didn't say anything, instead concentrating on the road and trying to figure out what was wrong with Gwen.
