As the world became clear again I saw Sara standing in front of my father, hands outstretched. I was still shaking with adrenaline and rage. "Why did you pull me out!" I screamed at my father, for no other than he would have ordered Sara to teleport me to him while I was in the middle of a mono eh mono fight. He sighed, "Calm yourself Katastrophe. The enemy knows your weak point now." "So what!" I screamed again. "I know his too!" Boy did that give him pause. He looked at me straight in the eye. "What did you say?" I repeated myself a little calmer. He raised an eyebrow. "How?" "I saw it shining through his shirt when he cried out for Chase" I said, slowly calming down. He didn't appear to doubt my word. "Where?" he asked simply I leaned in close and told him. "The small of his back." I whispered finally calm. He nodded and turned to Luke. "Tell everyone in the army to when they see Jackson aim for the small of his back" He ordered him. Luke saluted. "Yes sir" and marched off to spread the word.
Chapter 28
Percy
After a quick shower at home base, I got dressed in my battle clothes, and jumped on the bed for a quick nap. I fell asleep almost instantly. My dreams were chaotic. One moment I was under Typhon's foot, the next I saw myself fighting Kronos with Kat fighting Annabeth in the throne room of the gods. I woke with a start to hear Annabeth calling my name. "Percy! Percy, thank Chaos you're awake. Thalia is looking for you." I jumped out of bed and raced down the hall.
Kat
I had just woken up from a quick nap. I frowned. I seemed to be getting more tired more easily lately. I shrugged it off, instead focusing on the news that we had almost destroyed the gods. Today was also, if I remembered correctly, Jackson's 16 birthday. Something big was going to happen today, I just knew it. I almost called for Jason or Max or to come to fly me to my father, because I was getting sick of being teleported, when I remembered. Max was M.I.A. as was. Sesshumaru was defeated at least and no one knew where Gregor went. Jason regained his memories somehow and defected, and Sephiroth's wing had been cut off. Most importantly to me, the whole army of demigods and co knew where my weak spot was. I sighed and started walking towards the command camp. Along the way I saw the former Romans staring at me unnervingly as I walked by. I nodded at them. They nodded back and continued whispering amongst themselves. I walked up to the command tent and stood waiting for Luke to notice me. After a minute he did and let me in while notifying my father that I was here. "Good, you're here." Said my father. "I want those Romans put to good use. We will be storming Olympus today." He added nonchalantly. I nodded "I'll get right on it." I turned to leave. "One more thing" Father said. I want you up there with me instead of my honor guard, Katastrophe. You will be a great asset, if the enemy double teams me." "Yes father." I left without another word.
Percy
I ran down the hall looking for Thalia. I turned the corner and ran right into her. She had this look on her face that gave me the shivers. "Today's your 16th birthday." She stated ominously. With a chill I realized she was right. Today I
Would preserve or raze the western world, not to mention Mt Olympus and the gods. I straightened up. She was looking at me scrutinizingly. "Don't mess up." She said as she turned and walked away. "Thanks for the pep talk, Thalia." I called after her. I got ready and headed with Annabeth out the door, towards The Empire State building. The wind gusted and Jason landed next to me. "Hey, Percy." I turned to him as we jogged to the doors. "Yeah, what's up?" He sighed. "It's not looking too good out there. We're outnumbered 5 to 1. Unless Inuyasha and co can pull some cards out of their sleeves, a lot of people are going to die today, ours and theirs." "I know" I said, that knowledge weiging heavily on my chest. "Just letting you know." He said as we reached the doors. He walked off. Annabeth, who had been silent the whole time, turned to me. She kissed me and said the most encouraging words anyone anywhere could have said to me: "I love you and end of the world or no, life or death, that's never going to change." Just then the warning horn rang out. I summoned Promise and ran outside. Inuyasha and the rest of the opposite crew were already there weapons at the ready. Surprisingly Kat was leading the charge, even though she knew we knew her spot. I ran out to meet them in battle when hand caught me and pulled me back. "Wait. Inuyasha is going to do the Wind Scar and I'm going to open my Kazanna right after that." I nodded. I didn't have to wait long for the wind scar. "KAZE NO KIZU!" Inuyasha roared, and half the army we could see was destroyed. As soon as the shock waves disappeared Miroku unwrapped his prayer beads. "KAZANNA!" He shouted, and the black hole/wind tunnel sucked up quite a few of monsters and enemy demigods before he closed it, his right arm looking slightly green. cheered, but our jubilance was short was mainly because Kat reappeared with Kronos right behind her. I cursed. I had hoped Kat would have gotten sucked in, but apparently no such luck. Kronos surveyed us for a moment, then slammed his scythe into the ground and shouted "BACK!" We all flew back and hit the doors and windows of the Empire state. None of the windows broke thankfully, but Ripred and Inuyasha were knocked out. Miroku stood back to back with a demigod, while Black Rock Shooter stayed up in front in a battle stance. Kagome stood with the Hunters and strung her bow. Suddenly a figure came up from a manhole and walked up to us through the dust.
It was who Ripred had called Gregor. "Can I join you? I'm a rager too!" he called to us. He still had his blades sheathed and he had a huge bump on the head. Kat stared at him in disbelief. "Gregor!" He ignored her and walked up to me. Check my eyes and see. I don't have no golden iris rims." I peered into his eyes and it was true. There was no gold anywhere in his eyes. I stepped back and nodded. "Since you're a rager, take Ripred's spot at the doors." He nodded and ran to his spot. Thalia ran up to me. "Are you sure about this?" she whispered to me. "Positive." I affirmed. Kronos watched this whole thing with interest. "Attack." He told his forces and walked forward with them. Annabeth was fighting at my back with the very dagger that was pulled out of her shoulder, freezing the enemy in time every time she cut or stabbed anywhere. I fought as hard as I could against the tide of monsters, but more kept coming. I had about reached my limit when Annabeth gasped. I turned and she turned too, guarding my spot. I saw Gregor fighting Kat and he seemed to be in full rager mode, but he didn't know where her spot was, so every swing was deflected by her skin. He was parrying lightning fast too but a hellhound had come up behind him, about to pounce. He didn't notice it and I didn't want to call out to him for fear it would distract and kill him. Then I saw Jason fly at top speed into the hellhound and crash it through a window, electricity forming around their struggle. I fought my way over anyway and, with Annabeth at my back, I swung Promise at Kat's spot. It was deflected by the handle of a scythe. I looked up and there was Kronos grinning at me evilly. He pushed me back and a hellhound jumped on me. I disintegrated it and looked for Kronos again, and I saw him striding towards the doors. I swore loudly and jumped over many fights to get there, but I was too late. Gregor was distracted by Kronos and Kat got a hit on him, right through his heart. He dropped his blades and staggered. She smirked and spat on his body as she pulled her sword out. I got there just as the elevator closed on Kat and Kronos. He opened his eyes and in one of those moments that seem to last years, he smiled weakly. "Thanks for caring. Go." He said, mouthing the last word as he slipped away. Annabeth and Thalia were suddenly beside me. "We have to go, Percy." Thalia said. "They're on Mt. Olympus right now!" I nodded and we ran to the elevator, leaving Gregor's body laying there in the dust.
