~In the Hokage's office~
"Tsunade-sama." Sakura bowed down at the Hokage, but the former barely noticed, for she was busy arguing with Shizune.
"What do you mean they still haven't found it?! I sent out the best of the ANBU to search for it! How hard is it to track it?!" Tsunade yelled in outrage, slamming her hands in her desk. "It could fall in the wrong hands!"
Her assistant, desperately tried to calm her down, to no avail. "Tsunade-sama, I've already sent the elite's today, no need to worry.'
"No need to- Ugh!" The hokage just slumped into her seat and groaned. "Get me some sake Shizune. Now."
The woman nodded and hurried off.
The female hokage just noticed the two standing inside the room, and her mood turned, daresay, lighter. "Oh it's you two. I just called you here to give you a D-ranked mission-"
She gave the blonde a pointed look. "-as a punishment to yesterday's vandalism."
Sakura tried to protest. "D-rank?! Why? And why am I even involved!"
Tsunade just sighed and rubbed her temples. "Because I said so! Now, go!" Then she slapped the mission file on Naruto's face. "Geez! Young people this days make me feel so old!"
Naruto snorted. "It's because you are old."
"What did you-!"
"Baka!" Sakura punched him on the head. "Idiot!"
"Get out of my office! NOW!"
But the idiot ignored her. ''Ne, what was all that shouting earlier about? Can we at least know Obaa-san?"
The pink-haired kunoichi hesitated, but her curiosity got the best of her. "Yea, can you tell us Tsunade-sama?"
The hokage gave out a long stressed-out sigh. "I-I suppose. You see, last month, an S-rank jutsu scroll has been stolen. And it was a very important one too, if it fall on the wrong hands..."
Well, it is quite troubling. An S-rank jutsu is the hardest and most powerful type of technique.
"Wait." He interjected. "What scroll? Is it a jutsu?"
Tsunade nodded. "Yes, the jutsu itself doesn't have a name though. And it's origins are unknown as well. We just called it the 'Revival scroll'. It is somehow like Kabuto's Edo Tensei. But this jutsu, as the scroll says, completely restores one's feelings, emotions, memories, and life."
Sakura froze. What is this feeling... It can't be that.. what I saw this morning...
"Wait!'' Naruto yelled. "If we have hold of such a jutsu then why didn't we use it to save everyone?! Why is it stashed in there, waiting to be stolen?! We could've used it to save Neji, my father, everyone!"
"You don't understand!" Tsunade yelled. "We can't use this scroll because only a certain clan can use it! We don't have the proper chakra for it to be done properly!"
Naruto, clearly not seeing reason behind this continued to argue with her, I mean, they can seek out that clan. right?
"Then why not seek them out-"
"Their clan has been extinct a long time ago."
"Wait,'' Sakura chimed in. "If that is so, then why so worried that others might use it?"
Tsunade clenched her teeth. "Because if used the wrong way, or in other words, a incompatible chakra is to be channeled in the scroll, not only one person will be revived. A lot of random persons can be revived. Good or bad, kind or evil. And that is extremely risky. Besides, it also have a security programmed in it that will summon a deadly beast. It's as if it really is made to bring us misfortunes..."
"Ahh.. I see..'' Sakura whispered, then suddenly remembering what happened earlier that day, chimed in.
"Ne Tsunade-sama, remember Hayashi Midori and Uchiha Itachi?'' The young teen asked carefully, it's like she's treading on dangerous waters. It's been like this for a year now.
It's as if no one wants to talk about the both of them, it's as if they all forgot about the both of them or they were just pretending to.
Tsunade looked at her hardly. "No. Who is that?'
At the same time, Shizune came in hurrying with a bottle of sake.
"At last!" Tsunade grinned happily. "Now do your mission kiddos and get the heck out of my office.''
(Night time)
Sakura walks towards home alone, the D-ranked mission was, as usual, a bummer for a soon-to-be jounin like her.
The mission was something about a missing cat, which they had finished after a lot of problems.
You see, the cat doesn't like a certain blonde.
Who keeps trying to mystify the cat as to how a man can suddenly turn into a woman in front of the cat's very eyes.
But that's not the problem here.
The problem is, Sakura is walking alone and she doesn't know why, but somehow, her feet dragged her in front of Aoi's door.
"Wait.." The pinkette wondered aloud. "Why is it that I went here again?"
"Ah. Nevermind.." As she was about to turn away and walk away when the door suddenly flew open, revealing Aoi with a surprised look on her face.
"Sakura?" She asked. "What are you doing here? It's already nightime... you should sleep..."
Sakura grinned sheepishly and scratched the back of her neck. "Ah.. I have no idea myself.."
"Geez.. people these days..." Aoi sweat-dropped, then she opened the door a bit wider. "It's cold outside, come in. I'm having tea."
The younger female's face immediately brightened. "Ah, thank you so much! I do rather feel a bit chilly."
She entered the jounin's house hastily, quite oblivious to the fact that despite not knowing where the brown-haired female lives, she still found herself in front of her door.
And to the fact that the very same woman is smiling to herself in front of the door.
"Aoi-sensei?"
The genjitsu specialist tensed, turned slowly, and then smiled cheerfully at the girl in front of her. "Oh.. sorry.. I kinda spaced out for a while there... hehe."
While sipping their teas, Aoi asked a rather peculiar question. "Neh, Sakura-chan.. I heard you saw.. um.. them this morning? Is it true?"
The poor girl nearly coked on her drink. "Uh.. yea.. But, where did you hear that?"
She just smile thinly. "Mirai told me this afternoon."
"Oh. I see. But, wait.. I was just wondering, how come I found myself in your house when I don't even know where it is in the first place?"
If you look just closely enough, a hint of amusement was shining in Aoi's eyes. Oh? So you're not that oblivious after all.
She just chuckled. "Oh that? Have you forgotten already? We passed by here once and I pointed it out to you. You must have remembered and your feet brought you hear unconsciously.'' She smiled sweetly at her as if trying to prove her point.
Sakura thought for a while, not noticing the forceful persuasion lacing the older females voice, that is somehow affecting herself. "Oh yes.. I remember now."
Her smile grew wider, seeing that the younger female completely believed everything she said. The truth is, she never told her where her house is, nor did Mirai tell her anything.
"So," She said again, blue-eyes glinting dangerously. "I heard you'll be a jounin soon? My, you really are a talented one are you?"
The poor girl blushed. "Ah.. You flatter me sensei.. That's not true, we both know you're better than me in all ways."
"Oh?" Aoi raised her brow in interest. It's true, she is rather a very skilled one. She is skilled in using weapons as much as Midori, her black long-sleeved top is full of summoning tags inside, that is of course loaded with weapons.
The insides of her skirt are fairly armed as well, that is full of explosive tags and specially made shurikens. Paper-thin but deadly sharp and venomous.
She is exceptionally talented with Healing, Kenjitsu, and of course Ninjutsu. She knows a lot of A-class jutsus and her fair share of S-classed ones.
She is from a special clan with a special chakra after all.
But of course her true genius is the Genjitsu. Not was she only talented in creating exceptionally realistic illusions and hellish nightmares, she also has this unique ability that can allow her to control a person by influencing their thoughts and beliefs. She can make a person forget or 'remember' something that didn't even happen.
Simply put, she can tamper with one's mind and memories.
But of course, no one knows that she has that ability except herself.
So simply put, she is the perfect human weapon, but unfortunately, she has no intention to be one.
Just like her sister.
"Wait."
The younger female said startled. "How can Mirai tell you that piece of information this afternoon when she's not even here? She's away on a mission and she left his morning."
Aoi smirked inside. Of course, how could I know?
She is clearly entertained as to how this female somehow broke out of her foolishness.
"Oh? What are you talking about, she clearly didn't go-''
"She did sensei." She continued surely. "How did you know?"
The brunette chuckled. "Ok fine you got me. I followed you and saw them as well. Teehee." She gave out the peace sign and gave the pink-head a closed eyed smile.
'Now, ' she thought 'only an idiot won't catch up to what I said.'
"Ah.. I see.."
Idiot it is, then.
"Then that means they are not simply an illusion then?" Sakura asked eagerly.
... or not.
Aoi sighed. "Drink your tea Sakura.''
The younger teen immediately obliged. "Ne sensei, this tea tastes a bit.. different.''
The blue-eyed woman chuckled, and ran her long fingers through her hair. "Of course, I put in a special ingredient...''
Sakura still sept her tea obliviously and sank deeper in her chair.
".. hehe.. you really are oblivious hmm, Sakura?" The older female chuckled, amused. "I put my chakra in there.''
Sakura startled, dropped the teacup. "What? B-but why?!"
"Because," Aoi said slowly, treading slowly towards Sakura and poked her forehead. "You need to forget what you saw earlier okay? Uchiha Itachi and Hayashi Midori did not exist. They are not born. Uchiha Sasuke and I are only childs and the Uchiha clan is massacred by Orochimaru. Naruto and Mirai's teacher is none other than me. Understood?"
Sakura just looked at her blankly, her green-eyed turned to bright gold for a second and then returned back to it's emerald green.
Aoi quickly retreated back to her seat as Sakura quickly regained control of her self.
"Oh no! I dropped the teacup!"
Aoi chuckled. "It's okay.. I'll just tell Midori, my sister to clean it up later."
The younger girl looked at her confused. "What are you talking about sensei? Who's Midori? And besides, you don't even have a sister in the first place!"
'Oh? This is exceptionally brilliant and much more entertaining..' Aoi thought. Before, she was the one jumping from one store to another, and putting her chakra in every product she sees just to make them 'forget.'
She isn't sure if other people really consumes them so she has to invent another jutsu just for these purpose. She usually uses this long-range jutsus in other villages, and once she came back to konoha; with only a handful of people left, she finds it unnecessary.
And now, she just need to lure them in to her house. The pinkette is simply just proof that she can push through.
"Eh?" Aoi looked at her childishly. "Don't you know Itachi? He's my sister's boyfriend!"
Sakura just shook her head laughing, amused at Aoi's antics. "Don't be silly sensei, no one in their right minds would name their child after a weasel. Besides, stop mentioning your imaginary sister, geez!"
Aoi just scratched her head and stuck out her tongue childishly. "Sorry, can't help it."
They both laughed and cleaned the spilt tea, but inside, Aoi was smiling wide.
My plan is almost at it's peak. You two... just both of you wait.. I only have a quarter of the whole village to take care of.. geez.. this has been a busy year for me, making everyone forget about you guys...
Aoi sighed and twirled her hair with her finger.
It is quite true. For the past year, she has been going around village to village, making people forget as to who Uchiha Itachi and Hayashi Midori is. But since her jutsu is unbreakable and the lost memories can never be acquired again, she is simply confident her plan would work.
There is only a handful of people that needs to be 'taken-care-of' and her plan will be completed. And the best part is, no one even suspected her.
She sighed and plopped down on the couch, letting the pink-head do all the work. Fine, people can call her weird and obsessed for this, but she simply don't care.
What's important is that she is almost succeeding.
You two... just you wait.. idiots..
