Tyre Tracks & Broken Hearts

Dean paced the corridors as he waited for word on Jimmy's condition, it felt like a lifetime was passing by in slow motion and Dean hated every moment. Watching the clock Dean wanted so badly to see Jimmy but he knew he wasn't the only one, calling his father had been a bitch but calling Bobby had been worse.

Dean felt helpless for the first time as he watched Bobby threaten his father.

"for fuck sake, uncle put it the hell down and John for once bite your dam tongue before someone blows your dam head off" growled Jimmy as all three heads turned towards him.

"You know what fine I'm sick of this shit, all my life I've hunted and killed in the name of vengeance for my family. But here and now I watch three men I've known all my life acting no better than the demons we hunt. So fine I think I'll take myself out of the equation. See you around Dean" and with that Jimmy though his stuff into his mustang and took of leaving a heart broken Dean in its dust and two stunned men watching it.

"So what's the news only ma boy" Bobby's gruff voice brought Dean back to reality.

"Nothing, they won't tell me anything" growled Dean as he held down a mixture of fear and anger.

"Cool it boy and let's see what the doctors have to say" indicated Bobby as Dean turned to speak with the doctor as he approached.

"You're the young man that brought in Mr Novak?" asked the doctor as Dean nodded.

"How's he doing?" asked Dean as the doctor watched the two of them.

"I can't comment without family consent…"

"Ijdts, I'm Jimmy's uncle now tell me how my boy is" growled Bobby as he began to become more irate, practically throwing the information at the doctor.

"Concussion, broken ribs and water inhalation and they are just the prettier injuries. I want to talk to you about the scaring coving his body…"

Dean drifted off from the conversation and headed down the corridor until he found his destination; entering the room silently Dean tried not to hiss as he closed the door and took in the sight before him. Jimmy was laid out on the bed, his pale skin was deathly white, and a yellowy/purple bruise was now visible over the left side of his face. Small angry slashes where crisscrossed over his face, neck, shoulder chest and side. His right wrist was wrapped in a solid white cast up and the mask covering his mouth and nose was obviously their because of his lungs.

"Dam it Jimmy" sighed Dean as he ran his fingers though his hair before taking a seat next to the bed.

"Dam it to hell, you're a great hunter Jim why do this solo? You know letting your pride get in the way gets you killed" sighed Dean as he laced his hands together and rested his elbows on the bed beside Jimmy as if to pray.

"P…pride (cough) before a fall" coughed Jimmy as he turned to face Dean, his blue eyes where still a little burry but Dean could see the relief and love within.

"Dam it Jimmy, I swear to god if you ever…you're worse than my dad…"

"And he's a hot head with a stick up is ass at the best of times" interrupted Bobby making both me look at the door.

"I'm glad to see you two making up, I'm also glad Dean's saved me the job of smacking you across the head until you see sense you Ijdjt. Never again Jimmy you hear me, angry, pissed or frigging dying I don't care you come home and you have it out with me. Not the dam sons of bitches we hunt, you're all I have left kid and I don't plan on burying ya next to ya mamma" growled Bobby as his anger began to fade and worry set in.

"What happened to the Walker?" asked Jimmy as he looked at Bobby.

"Dead, I hid the body until I can torch it" said Dean with a growl as Bobby and Jimmy nodded.

Two day and much pestering and complaining from Jimmy later the four men where back on the road, Jimmy was still banged up so he rode with Bobby in his truck as Dean drove his beloved mustang while John who had reluctantly been recruited (with force from Bobby) drove the impala.

The sun high in the sky as they pulled into Singers Salvage yard, the three vehicles came to a halt side by side. John Winchester huffed as Bobby told him to suck it up, but Dean could care less as he headed to the passenger side of Bobby's truck to assist Jimmy. As much as Jimmy wanted to fight he knew he was exhausted and he wasn't going anywhere fast on his own so Dean's help was needed.

Resting against Dean's broad chest, breathing in his scent Jimmy relax and allowed himself to be guided into the house. The stairs were difficult but Jimmy was grateful as he finally hit his own mattress, as he got comfortable it didn't escape him as Dean watched from the doorway.

"Thanks Dean, once again I owe you" said Jimmy as Dean smiled.

"Nah, you owe me nothing" said Dean as he went to leave as Jimmy laughed before coughing.

"You know what Dean, I owe you a lot more then you think" said Jimmy as Dean turned round and approached the base of the bed.

"You will never owe me Jimmy, the amount of times you've saved my ass" laughed Dean as he tried to brush over Jimmy's words with humour.

"Saving your ass is one thing Dean but I owe you more then that, for what its worth I'm sorry Dean. With this life you easily forget the good things, you're a hard man Dean, you lock your heart away and hope your cool nature or bad humour keeps them away. The only time you've ever shown your true self to anyone, you were shot down and for that I'm sorry. I wish I could take back that night and all that was said" said jimmy as he bowed his head nearly missing the look on Dean's face.

"But not that Dean, I'm sorry for the fighting but not the back of the impala, I've never stopped thinking about you, or about us. I would have giving anything to been with you, I though id destroyed your trust until I saw you again. Thank you Dean" said Jimmy as Dean took his hand and kissed him.

"You could never lose my trust angel, long ago I accepted that Bobby and my dad will never get on but as long as your at my side we'll get though it" sighed Dean as Jimmy pulled him down beside him.

As they lay together the emotions of the last few days hit them, Jimmy rested against Dean's shoulder as sleep claimed them both.

The salvage yard was for once still; all the occupants were lost in sleep. The distant howls and eerie hoot filled the night air as suddenly something within the shadows stared. Dashing almost silently across the yard the shadowy figure stopped briefly in front of the Impala before creeping passed towards Bobby's truck.

Popping the door the shadow slipped into the driver's seat, by the time the engine had come to life the truck as rolling out of the yard and off into the distance. Tossing one last look behind him John Winchester sighed before turning back to the road and continuing his journey into the shadows.
