Kid, Black-Star and Free turned around and were shock to see a large crowd of people behind them. The crowd was the majority of the people that lived in the apartment, half of them with body parts in weapon form and the rest were covered in knifes and guns.

"What?" Kid asked the crowd.

"Cylas told us." Maka stated, stepping in front of the group with Soul, Tsubaki, Kilik, Ox, Stein, Marie, Liz and Patty. Cylas, Tyler and Lexi were right behind the adults, bared and ready for a fight.

"Where's Lance?"

"Sid's holding the fort down with Nygus, Roberto and Talia." Maka informed, holding her hand out. Soul smirked before becoming a bight light and transforming into a scythe and landing right into his wife's hands. "Let's do this." Maka said with a grin, showing she's been waiting for a battle for a very long time.

"Touching." James said with a sneer and made everyone look at him. All except for Kenna, who only stared ahead. "All of those, touchy-feely emotions you people have." James bent down and picked up the still brightly-colored gun.

"There is nothing wrong with emotions!" Someone shouted from the crowd. Kid shook his head in shock when he saw Spirit, Maka's father, walking towards them. He hadn't seen the red-headed man the whole time he's been back. Where has Spirit been? That was when he noticed the death-scythe had a harsh limp, the man was injured.

"Really, now?" James asked with a cock of his head. "Emotions are the thing that gets in your way. Isn't that right, Kenna?" The man whispered the girl's name and Kenna swallowed and nodded her head slowly. "Your 'love' for Miriah got you into this mess. Did it not?" Kenna nodded her head again, showing signs of struggle as sweat dripped down her burning face. "You wanted revenge for your dead girlfriend." James chuckled and walked over to he stood right behind Kenna. "You wanted to take your grief out on the thing that took her away from you."

"Get away from her!" Kid demanded.

"There is nothing wrong with the way she feels." Spirit growled, taking several slow steps towards the fire-kishin.

"Spirit, stay back." Free warned the death-scythe. "You're still limping."

"I got him." Stein quickly pushed himself through and grabbed Spirit's arm. "We don't need to risk doing anything stupid, yet." The scientist whispered to the weapon before pulling him back.

"Emotions." James chuckled. "Feelings. If emotions didn't get in the way, you wouldn't be in this mess." James looked right into Kid's eyes. "If you never felt anything for Black-Star, your father would still be alive." Kid tightened his grip on the gun in his hands. "Everyone would till be alive if you two never got together." James turned his eyes away and faced Kenna again. "Kenna wouldn't be in this mess either if she didn't have feelings for Miriah." The man took the smoking gun and pressed it's barrel to Kenna's arm, right where her scar was at. Kenna's eyes watered as she let out an ear-piercing scream.

"Kenna!" Kid tried to rush forward, but Free cut him off.

"If only you could stop feeling. If only you knew how to shove those emotions down and hide your pain with a mask. Oh wait." James threw his gun back into the flames. "You know how to do that, don't you Kenna?" The man traced the burn mark on Kenna's arm. "You've been hiding your pain for a long time, haven't you?"

"Leave her alone!" Cylas' weak voice called out.

"Cylas? Is that you?" James moved his hand down and Kenna fell to her knees. "What a silly little boy you are." The fire-kishin smirked and patted Kenna's head before looking up at the boy. "Does the teddy-bear still haunt your dreams, Cylas? Does it still talk to you even though it's not around?"

"Shut...shut up!" Cylas' cried and hugged Lexi's arm.

"And you always latch onto Lexi, now what would you do without her?" James snapped his fingers and several kishin demons came out of the fire. "If she was taken away from you. If she wasn't able to be there?"

"Don't." Cylas' voice was shaky, but he went on front of Lexi, taking over the gap between Liz and Patty.

"What would you do? How could you possibly live without her?" James smirked as the small kishins ran towards the group, but they stopped short of Kid, Black-Star and Free. Waiting for an order. "Can you feel the madness, Cylas? Can you feel it coursing through your veins and controlling every part of you."

"Enough of this!" Free snapped.

"The immortal." James drummed his fingers together before resting them on his hips. "You're used to seeing the ones you love die, aren't you?"

"Stop it now!" The wolf growled.

"Why? Aren't we having a good ol' time?" The fire-kishin rested his hands on Kenna's head and leaned forward. "How's Erika?"

"I'll ask you that when you meet her in the afterlife." Free tried to hide the pain from James' question

"Alright, alright. No need to bite my head off." James jerked his hand up and Kenna's body followed it, a grunt of pain came out of her chapped lips. "But first, let me teach you a small lesson about the soul. Something Stein never bothered teaching his students." The fire-kishin put one hand on Kenna's head and placed the other over her lower chest. "We all know that the soul supposedly dwells in the center of your body." James leaned forward, mouth right next to Kenna's ear. "The core of who you are." He said before leaned back. "And the mind also homes part of your soul, to a degree."

Kid bit the inside of his mouth, what was James trying to do? What was the whole point of this?

"We are told that the only way to remove a soul is by completely killing the person, now is that true?"

"Kid...Kid I'm so sorry." Kenna choked out.

"Hush." James dug his nails into Kenna's skin, a small squeak came out of her. "Now, the soul is an instrument, my friends." James yanked his hands away and Kenna gasped for air as a pink fog came out of her body. "Pink. The color of a softness, a caring person that will go to the ends of the earth for their friends. Does that sound like her?" The fire-kishin asked as he moved his hands apart and spread out his fingers. Kenna's eyes were blank, her pupils had shrunk to almost nothing and she no longer showed resistance to James' magical hold. "Back to the instrument thing I was talking about. The soul can be manipulated like tuning an instrument, like adjusting the tightness of the strings on your guitar." The pink fog gathered into a denser mist. "If you play with it just right." The pink mist started to show thin white lines in it. "You can take it away, you can absorb everything about it or..." James smirked before running his fingers across the white lines and played a beautiful tune. "You can break it." The fire-kishin hooked a finger to one line and pulled, snapping the white line easily. The pink fog gathered into one shape, a spikey, pink soul. James stared up at the floating soul and Kenna fell over, face-first. She landed on the ground with a sickly 'thud'.

"Kenna!" Kid cried.

"What a spunky soul she has." James chuckled, gently taking the soul out of the air. "And yet another dead person, all because of you Kid."

"Fuck you!" Kid cursed and charged at the man.

"Attack!" Free cried and the rest of the crowd rushed towards the burning DWMA,. Kishin demons ran out of the academy, more than they have ever seen before. Some were tall, short, thin, fat and some of them even had wings that allowed them to glide small distances.

Kid grabbed one of his balloons and tossed it at James, while the fire-kishin dodged the bag of water, Kid slammed the back of his gun into James' head. The shinigami was going to smash his gun down again, but fell back when James shout a blast of fire at him.

"Kid!" Black-Star shouted and jumped on James' back when the fire-kishin tried to get back up.

"Get off!" James roared and grabbed Black-Star's wrist. He yanked the star off of his shoulder and slammed the man into the ground on his back. Kid let out a shout as he shoved James away from Black-Star.

"Have fun, boys." James spat before stepping back into the flames.

"Coward!" Kid shouted and went up to the flames, but the heat was too much for even him to handle. He looked down at his hands and clenched them. Where were his full shinigami powers? They should be here by now.

"They're going after Kenna's body!" Black-Star snapped Kid back to the present and the shinigami saw a small group of small kishin demons moving over to Kenna, who still laid flat on the ground.

"Like hell they are!" Kid snapped and sprinted over to Kenna's body. He scooped his large gun off of the ground and blasted the small kishins, turning their heads into piles of mush.

"Overkill." Black-Star muttered and went over to check on Kenna's body.

"They're not going to hurt her any more. She's been through too much already." Kid said and lowered his gun.

"Where is James?" Free asked as he pulled himself away from the battle.

"He went into the flames." Kid answered.

"I'm moving Kenna's body." Black-Star said as he tossed Kenna over his shoulder and took off.

"We have to go in Kid. James is probably going to where the source of his power is at and summoning as many kishin demons as he can." Free stated.

"We should wait for Black-Star." Kid said. Free opened his mouth to respond, but a pain filled scream cut him off, they turned and saw a woman Kid didn't know by name fall over with a gash across her throat.

"There's no time!" Free said and ran. Kid hesitated, looking at the now dead woman before finally running after Free. He was going to finish this nightmare no matter what it took.

"Free! Free!" Kid shouted over the roar of the flames.

"Over here!" The shinigami tired his best to ignore another scream as he looked for the wolf. Kid squinted his eyes and was surprised to find Free standing in a hole in the flames, a door that would lead into the academy was behind the immortal. "Come on!" Free said before kicking the door in and entering the building. Kid fought the urge to look over at the battle with the demon kishins and ran into the DWMA.

Kid...

That voice, how much he hates that voice now. James' voice.

Come and find me Kid, you know where I am...

"You're going to regret ever being born!" Kid shouted, his scream echoing.

"Who are you talking to?" Free asked, opening a door and looking into the room and quickly slamming it back shut to prevent kishins from attacking them.

Come get me then...I dare you...

"Challenge accepted." Kid muttered and sprinted off, leaving a confused Free behind.

Kid ran through the still familiar halls, memories flashed through his mind and he shoved them down. The past was only going to get in the way, he needed to focus. He ran straight for the room where his father used to spend most of his time. The Death Room. Kid didn't even blink before kicking the door open, shards of wood clattering on the ground louder than expected.

"Hello Kiddo." James said with a smirk as the man sat down in a red thrown in the middle of the room.

"Don't you dare call me that." Kid hissed and hoisted his gun up. "And say good-bye to your head-" the shinigami let out a curse when the gun suddenly became too hot to hold and he had to drop it.

"You're in my domain right now Kiddo." James chuckled.

"This is the Death Room." Kid gasped when the rest of his weapons began to burn and he had to remove them as well. He was left with only his water balloons.

"It was the Death Room. Now it's my room. A lot cozier than that cell," James spat the word as if it left a bad taste in his mouth. "Your father decided to lock me up in for twenty years."

"What do you want?" Kid asked.

"I want to see everything burn." James chuckled. "For my whole life I've always enjoyed fire, the heat it would give off and the light that prevented me from ever being alone in the dark." The man crossed his legs. "I'm sick of this world and it's 'happy' ways, it's too boring. I need excitement." James stood up. "I want a show." The fire-kishin flashed his hands toward a wall that had a thin layer of fire and the flames parted to show a hole in the wall. "Come here Kiddo."

"No."

"Come here!" Something took over Kid's body, making him stiff and lose control of his movements. The shinigami tried to fight against the invisible hold as something took steps for him, making him stand next to James. "Look Kiddo, look at what you caused." James pointed out of the hole and Kid refused to look, but he could hear the screams. "Look!" Kid's body was turned around, so he could see the battle with is own eyes.

Kid felt his stomach turn when he saw Cylas trying his best to defend Lexi, but eventually failed. The boy screamed louder than he ever had before as he was consumed by the kishin demons and Lexi soon followed.

"Ninety-four." James whispered into his ear.

Stein had been pushed down by several large kishins and was being clawed at. Spirit returned to human form and attempted to save Stein, but Spirit soon had a hand through his throat and Stein laid on the ground with blood seeping out of every part of him.

"Ninety-two."

Ox was sliced open next, his glasses shattered on the ground next to his head.

"Ninety-one."

Kilik went out with a strong fight, taking several kishins down with him before he was finally killed.

"Ninety."

"Stop...it." Kid strained to speak.

"Aren't you having fun? Isn't this entertainment to you?"

Liz held Patty in her hand as she shot kishin after kishin that tried to get to her. One demon jumped on her back and bit her neck, ripping out a large chunk of flesh. Patty screamed in horror as she returned to human shape and watched her sister fall to the ground. Patty continued screaming as the kishins piled up on her and soon silenced her screams.

"Eighty-eight." James set a hand on Kid's back. "Looks like you're left to your favorite number, to a degree." He chuckled. "How about I decide to ruin one more thing that you love." The fire-kishin sneered before heating his hand up. "Good-bye. Kiddo." James let out a laugh as he shoved his hand through Kid's back and all the way through the shinigami's chest.

Kid's eyes went wide, his stare went blank as the hands was removed from his chest. The shinigami fell back and the last thing he saw was James' smirk before being engulfed by darkness.

The pain! My heart hurts and I'm the one who wrote this!
