AN:
Hello everyone! I'm back with another chapter of More Than Friends!
So sorry you had to wait so long and I'll have to admit that this story is OC and basically a filler. I had this random moment of inspiration and ideas so I just jotted it down!
Right now, I'm not going to have a specific plot line because I kinda want this story to be more about Chemistry between Alex and Ria and Alex's search for humanity and friendship!
Friendship is Magic ya'll! (Can't believe I just said that)
So, if you don't like Alex being OC, then I'm sorry this story is not for you.
Hope you will like this chapter and ON WITH THE SHOW!
Disclaimer: If I owned Prototype, I would have made Alex a good guy who loves feeding ducks and riding off in the sunset. But he isn't, so I don't.
Alex paced nervously on the rooftop, hands fidgeting in clasped fists. He was sweating and his heart was racing and he was scared shitless. Well, not that scared but scared enough to worry about the consequences he'll get. Ugh, what should he do? What should he do?!
Squatting and watching her friend intently was Ria. She had a perplexed look on her face and she wondered what the hell was going on. "Alex. Chill. We can go fix the door once we get back. Why are you all pent up for?"
Alex turned sharply to her, shocked face present. "Why am I pent up for? Why am I pent up for?! You have no idea how demonic Dana can be!" He cried out.
Ria raised her hands and patted them down slowly. "Calm. The Fuck. Down. I'm sure she's not that bad. Look, we'll just go to Walmart and buy a door for her. Easy Peasey."
"You think Walmart will be open by now?"
Ria frowned and looked at her watch. "What? It's only... 4.30 in the morning."
Alex pulled a face at her.
Ria sighed. "Okay fine, maybe we can't go buy her door but I'm sure she'll be understandable. Here's the plan, blame all of it on me. That'll shut her up."
"What? What for?" Alex ask her, face confused.
Ria stood up from her squatting and pulled her hands behind her back. She then proceeded to walk on the roof as cool as a cat. "From what I've discovered is that people don't get angry easily towards new friends they've just met a few hours earlier. Sure, it'll rise up some bad impressions but they'll won't go apeshit angry on you. So, since I just met Dana, I think it'll be safe for your ass if I harbor all the responsibilities." Ria turned to Alex. "So how about it?"
Alex scratched his head. "I don't know. I don't like blaming other people for my mistakes."
Ria rolled her eyes. "Okay then, why did you broke the door?"
Alex frowned and jabbed a finger at her direction. "Because I was chasing you! You went all crazy with your wings and I had to get you before BLACKWATCH came up and blast your ass off the skyline."
"See?" Ria brought down Alex's accusing finger. "It was my fault. Who went crazy with wings? Ria. Who screamed at the top of her lungs at 12 in the morning? Ria. Who cause poor Alex to break down the door? Ria." Alex pulled an 'O' face after putting 2 to 2. What Ria said actually made sense.
Ria then linked her arm with Alex and the latter both walked across the roof to Dana's safehouse. "So, you just leave the talking to me."
Alex gulped. He has a bad feeling about this.
~Moments Later in the Safehouse~
Dana grumbled angrily as she placed the groceries back in the fridge. If she wasn't that pissed at Alex, she would actually be happy that he bought eggs for her. But the fallen door on the floor reminded her otherwise.
"Mother fucker. Wait till I get my hands on you." She grumbled as she hoisted the door back up to its hinges. It leaned on the door frame and Dana sighed once again, knowing how long it will take to put the door back up again. Dana settled that she'll tend to it the next morning or at least till she get some shut eye.
She made a move to lay on the couch to have a few winks but her scumbag of a brain wouldn't allow her any sleep. She tossed and turned on the couch, trying to force herself to sleep but it was all in vain. Dana went into a temper tantrum, writhing and trashing about on the couch, unintelligible frustrated groans coming out from her clenched teeth. It was as though she was having a seizure of some sorts and the sight was very much like a little boy being denied of a packet of sweets.
"Fuck you Alex! You're gonna to get it from me!" She screeched like a banshee at the ceiling.
Outside the safehouse did her scream echoed out and Alex shivered on the spot. He and Ria was already at the rooftop and hell was he scared. His strength to face his sister was slowly diminishing and that brought about fear into him.
He gulped. "Ria?"He whimpered softly to his friend.
"Relax, Alex. Everything's gonna be alright. Just leave the talking to me." Ria reassured her terrified friend. Taking a deep breath, the Mighty ZEUS steeled himself and nodded. Ria walked to the entrance of the safe house and knocked on the wooden frame where the door should have been.
"Dana? It's me, Ria. Are you alright?" Ria asked as she ventured in. As told by the plan, Alex was to stay outside while Ria is to enter and deactivate the bomb. If all goes well, the mission will be a success and Alex will live for another day. If not, KABOOM!
Dana sat up from laying on the couch as Ria approached her. "What's the matter?" Ria asked Dana cautiously and sat next to her.
"It's Alex. That son of a bitch broke down my door for the umpteenth time and I'm getting sick of it! Do you know how painful it is to hammer down the nails?" Dana cried out and showed the thumbs on her hands that had been subjected to abuse by the hammer. "Fucking hate it. He's gonna get it from me soon enough, you'll see. Where is the motherfucker anyway?"
Ria grew flustered. "Oh, he told me about what happened and didn't dare to come to the safehouse no more. He's really sorry about bringing your door down." Ria told her calmly.
"Well, he should. But that doesn't mean he can be a goddamn coward. If I ever see him..." Dana trailed off and cracked her knuckles which nearly made dear Alex faint from outside the house.
Ria felt a sweat drop from her forehead at how serious Dana is and how cowardly Alex is to his little sister. Shouldn't he be more commanding and in charge? But NooOOoo, the author just had to make him a goddamn pussy.
(AN: Godammit Ria! Stop breaking the fourth wall!)
"Anyways," Ria quickly intervened her train of thoughts. "It wasn't Alex's fault that he broke the wal- I MEAN!- door down. He was trying to stop me from being caught by the BLACKWATCH choppers. I had found out a new ability of mine and got careless with it. If it wasn't for Alex rushing out to get to me, I could have been caught alive by BLACKWATCH. Sure, it was stupid of him to break down the door in his haste but I'm the one who caused it." Ria paused for a more dramatic effect. "It was my fault..."
Dana blinked at Ria, surprised and slightly taken aback. She never thought a stranger would cover up for Alex and seeing Ria all sad and sincere about her apology really convinced her. Dana gave out an exasperated sigh. "Well, then. What do you expect me to do?" Dana asked her.
Ria looked up from staring at the floorboards for the 'dramatic effect'. "Well, its not much but could you at least forgive Alex for what he has done?" Ria asked soothingly, her voice like silk.
Dana broke out an understanding smile. She's starting to like Ria more. Finally, someone who would own up to her mistakes. Dana nodded. "Alright. Where is that bloke?"
"Right here..." Alex spoke as he went inside the safehouse slowly. He had his head hung low and the hood shielded more of the guilty older brother. Alex walked cautiously towards his sister and gave her a meek smile but quickly dropped it out of fear that she will scold him once more.
Dana stood up from the couch and sighed. She walked towards Alex, which made him stiffen on the spot, and unexpectedly hugged her big brother. This action shocked Alex and Ria shouted at a silent 'Yes' in her head.
Dana chuckled. "What am I going to do with you?" She smiled. Alex quickly returned her hug and his eyes met Ria who was seating at the couch. With a sly smile, he gave her a thumbs up from behind Dana's back and Ria had to stifle her laughter at the action. And here she thought that Dana would be harder to convince. But it doesn't matter. It's bext that Dana doesn't find out that the both of them had tricked her.
With a shake of her head, Ria pocketed her hands and blinked when she felt the paper which she had gone to great lengths to get. She took out the piece of paper that presumably contained important formulas to an experiment and unfolded them to see the contents. Her eyebrow raised at the foreign writing of equations.
"Hey. Hate to break the whole hugging but care to explain what this is all about now?" Ria piped up which broke the hug. Alex took the paper out of Ria's hands and scrutinized the equations whereas Dana frowned.
"What's this? Where'd you get that? That paper has the BLACKWATCH seal on the front." Realization dawned on her. "Was that why the two of you were so late to come back? You actually went to the HQ and stole the formulas!" Dana cried out.
Alex sat down on the couch, eyes not leaving the paper. "Yeah. Don't worry. Didn't obliterate the whole HQ. Just went in and went out to get it. No big deal."
"Do you know how dangerous that was? You could have been caught and killed by Cross." Dana yelled.
"Relax. I just need to send this to Ragland to figure out the equation and that'll be it. It's not a big deal." Alex answered back.
"It IS a big deal! Ria, back me up on this!" Dana turned to find Ria but the both of the Mercers found a woman curled up in the ball, sleeping on the couch. Dana's tense composure relaxed at seeing Ria sleep and felt at fault that Ria stayed up through the whole night. She shook her head and headed to the bedroom to prepare the bed for Ria.
Alex however, sat perplexed at seeing the sleeping woman but slowly, his gaze thinned out to a softer glance. He felt really guilty for forcing her to stay up since the moment she turned. He should have forced her to rest after she got her basics down but he didn't do anything to stop her. He should have stopped her from leaving and let her have her rest.
Thinking about it, it's amazing she could survive this long. Even Alex had trouble getting his bearings when he first changed, so for Ria to handle the change and infiltrate a HQ all on the same day was a record breaker for him. He was proud of her and grateful that she helped him out when he needed her.
Alex stood up and carefully carried Ria from the couch. His arm hooked underneath her legs and he had her head lifted with another hand. He carried her bridal style to Dana's room where she had the door open for him to enter.
"Tuck her in." Dana whispered as Alex passed her in the bedroom. "Poor kid must be exhausted." Dana spoke and left the room to sleep on the couch. She too hasn't got that much sleep in her and caffeine isn't something to drink to wake yourself up.
Alex nodded as her sister left the bedroom and laid the sleeping Ria on the bed gently. He fluffed up the pillow nicely and laid her head down on it and pulled the covers up. The night was chilly and it would be cozy enough to sleep with warm, soft fabrics surrounding you like a cocoon. Ria unconsciously smiled in her sleep after Alex tucked her in and continued on with her slumber.
Alex stood staring at the sleeping Ria for a few moments and breathed out exhaustedly. He bent down and kissed her forehead, the way he would do for Dana when they were younger before she slept. Alex whispered, a smirk etched on his lips.
"Goodnight prick."
Hoped you liked it! Thanks for being patient with me and with this story!
Thank you very much for reading!
