The squad team breaks into the prison and a guard inside finds that the cells in the main prison block have been opened. Cindy is undergoing emergency C-section, but Boden withholds the information. Casey and Hermann discover a murdered guard and the inmates have the keys. Dawson and Mills are dealing with a wounded inmate and find time to have a heart to heart. The prisoners take Hermann hostage and Casey offers himself up instead. The firefighters break free and manage to get to safety. The power goes back and Severide opens a vent to flood the room with smoke. The firemen sneak out. Hermann rushes to the hospital, as the baby might be having problems, but he is okay. Dawson goes to Casey's house to reveal her feelings and finds him in shambles. She decides to put him back together. Renee #2 is back in town to tell Kelly that she is having his baby.
Though she loves her sister, and she wants what's best for her, and she wants her to be happy, but Emily simply doesn't like the bar. It isn't somewhere she can be with her sister and her brig brothers, and it isn't a place to relax. She's home alone a lot and it leads to bad things, and her arm is always sore. The only thing she does is work through the pain.
Emily was at the firehouse when the call about the prison came in, and stays behind. She is unaware at the time that that's where they were going, but listening to the radio, she grew nervous and anxious. She answers the phone at the firehouse, listening as nurses describe what's happening with Cindy.
Her worries grow and she wants, with all her heart, to go to the hospital and be with Cindy so she isn't alone. She has no way of getting there.
She calls Alexxis, asks for the older girl to take her to the studio where she can let out her worries and anxieties in the studio and lay out her heart- and her life- just like all the people around seem to be doing.
She is at the studio. Her arm is throbbing and her scars have been aching deep and hard for a long time. Somehow, Basil is unaware of her process of cutting and sleeping, and does not know (or let on that she knows) about the cuts that pepper her left arm. She is dancing, the one-sleeved costumes she uses in a lot of her dances go over her left wrist and so, she uses the warmth of the outfits as her excuse to dancing in long-sleeved under armor- she needs to be used to the feel.
When Basil starts to whine halfway into one of her new numbers, she tries to ignore it. But, it grows louder and more desperate. Emily, in a bit of a rage, stops abruptly and would turn and yell at her if she hadn't slipped and landed in something wet. She realizes, in a split second of curiosity that her arm is soaked and she has fallen from into a pool of blood. There are speckles of it all over the floor from her movements.
She pulls her shirt off, the dizziness intensifying, and looks to Basil.
"Go get someone" she chokes through her wheezing.
She presses the shirt to her arm.
The wolf seems unsure of leaving her there, of leaving her alone in this room to die alone on this hard floor. She stops at Emily on her way to the door, whines as she licks her face and then pushes her way through the door and into the den. She finds Seth, tugs on his sleeve, barks and spins and runs back to her owner. She barks constantly until Seth enters.
He stops dead in his tracks. Emily is bleeding, feeding the circle of red around her. He runs to her, kneels in her blood, by her side.
"What have you done?" he whispers.
"I didn't mean to…" she whimpers.
"But you did!" he reprimands her, his voice rising in volume.
He grabs the shirt and ties a sleeve as tight as he can around her elbow above the cut to try and cut off the circulation of blood.
"I'll be right back, I have to get help" he whines reluctantly, not wanting to leave her at this stage.
"Go" she prompts him, pushing him away.
He runs toward the door, looking back every few steps. Not ten feet out the door, he crashes into Alexxis, who is holding Haley, making her way toward the back studio
"Leave her here and come help me… call an ambulance!" he adds after he rushes away again.
Alexxis looks down at the little girl in her arms, whose eyes have already gone wide and wet from the tension she can so obviously feel. Alexxis sets her down and runs after Seth.
She stops in the doorway, covering her mouth with both hands, her heart breaking. She turns to shed a tear and pulls her phone out, calling 911 to get Emily the help she needs.
The operator stays on the phone and tells them what to do, stays with them until she can hear the paramedics, gives her best -her condolences- and hangs up. They are paramedics that Emily knows because of her sister- making the situation feel worse to her.
Alexxis had worked on her arm, trying the clot it and add pressure while Seth worked on keeping her awake and stable. She doesn't resist- a good sign.
She is rushed to the hospital, Christi, Chloe's mom, goes with her in the ambulance- the mom there who has acted as her mom as well while her sister and brother weren't there for her. She holds Emily's hands, tears rolling freely down her cheeks. She keeps Emily's hand pressed against her lips, hoping with all her might that she can transfer some of her own life into the girl on the stretcher who is steadily losing consciousness.
Alexxis follows behind in their car; Seth keeping a sobbing Haley pressed into his side- his reminder to her that she will never be alone. Alexxis is trying to drive while she is crying, trying not to hold back her tears so they don't cloud her vision. On the way, they nearly pull over as Seth's stomach churns while he tries to work up the courage to call Gaby or Antonio and tell them what is happening. He wants Alexx to do it, but isn't sure she can.
They pull into the parking lot and he decides that it is time he called her. But the color drains from his face and he gets weak in the knees even though he's sitting down already when he sees ambulance 61 sitting in the ambo-bay.
Alexxis parks haphazardly on the curb and gets out. she notices the ambulance and nearly screams when she sees the ambulance. The paramedics are working on getting her out and Alexxis runs in. Seth grabs Haley; she wraps herself around him as tight as possible and shuts her eyes even tighter. He watches as her unconscious body is rushed into the hospital.
He hears Alexxis's stressed, sorrowful, hurt scream and goes as fast as possible into the hospital. Alexxis is backed against the wall, in the arms of Shay, the blond paramedic, and faintly sees Gaby rushing after the gurney.
The last thing he sees before walking back out and away from the hospital is his sister collapsing to the floor and Shay seeming to try keep her together.
