Chapter One
An alarm went off at quite a loud tone, startling the redhead awake. Her green eyes flashed open and then almost as quickly as they had opened, they had closed once more. The light was positively blinding and Lily felt as if she might have lost her eyesight. It was a ridiculous thought, that if she were more conscious, she would scold herself for the absurdity of it.
Though, as it may, she was far too asleep for it to matter much. She had stayed up quite late last night with last minute packing. She wouldn't have had to if she had packed earlier but she had fought with Petunia that whole week non-stop that she did not even get a moment alone to pack. It was something she rather not think about this early in the morning.
She even tried to roll back over and hope that she could re-enter her lovely dream. But alas, it was not meant to be. Lily groaned in annoyance before she threw off her blankets. She set off to the bathroom to freshen up a bit. She closed the door after herself, as she hummed a tune she was much too familiar with. She walked up to the sink in a slow pace, taking her time.
She was far too tired to hurry even though she might even be late. She shrugged in a way of saying, 'What can you do?'
She washed her face, slowly, as if she had all the time in the world. She didn't but she didn't really mind all that much either. The cool water felt amazing on her skin. The moment her green eyes connected with hers in the reflection, she felt the over-bearing sense to scream.
This wasn't happening, she thought in a way to stop herself from panicking.
This isn't actually possible, she mused to herself before she really panicked.
Her eyes ghosted over to her chest where something should be but didn't seem to be there. She was obviously missing something, something very important. She felt as if her mind was playing a trick on her or something. Maybe it was just the mirror or it could've been her lack of sleep. That could actually be a real, logical explanation for the stupidity that her brain was showing today.
It's just slow because she's tired, she told herself as she swallowed down a scream.
There is no way she looked like this in real life because she had grown quite accustomed to her boobs, if she did say so herself. She did the one thing she promised herself she would never do.
She went to grope her boobs to prove to herself that she was only imagining things.
When she didn't feel anything but rock-hard abs; that was the moment she let out a blood-curling scream.
Not even a moment latter there was a frantic knock on the door and her father's voice flittered through the cracks in the door. "Is everything alright in there, sweetheart?" Lily swallowed, shaking her head, mouthing 'no' in her reflection but that just made her panic.
So, she naturally, went with the whole 'yes, everything is fine' sentence. It was the bull teenagers fed their parents when they didn't want to talk about something. Her father got it straight away, what a surprise.
She looked back towards the mirror. Did a spell go wrong or something? Or was she, hopefully, still sleeping? She had no idea what was going on. A potion gone wrong, perhaps? Lily swallowed and bit her lip. She lifted up her shirt and she stifled another scream.
Perfectly, chiselled abs.
Short, curly, red hair.
Taller than normal, about 6'1.
The scream wanted to find its way out of her throat again but she thought better of it. Maybe she really was a guy. It was probably just a 24-hour-thing. She could do this. She wasn't the Brightest Witch of her Age for nothing. So, she made the best of a horrible situation.
She went back to her room and found the baggiest clothes she could find that could obviously cover up her problem. She just had to make it to Hogwarts without being found out. She'd put on her uniform after she got on the train. She'd just have to talk to Dumbledore. It'll wear off anyway, hopefully, at least.
She just decided against that shower she wanted to take. She put on a beanie to tug all of her hair inside of it. She couldn't have her family notice that she'd gotten a 'haircut'. She put on all of the baggiest clothes she happened to own. 'Thank you, mum,' she thought as she remembers how her mum said she'd grow into them one day.
This was just temporarily; as soon as she gets onto the Hogwarts Express she can put on all her uniform. She'll have to transfigure it into guy's uniform. Lily frowned at the very thought of that. She ran down the stairs, screaming, "LET'S GO NOW!"
Her dad chuckled from the table in the kitchen, "I don't see what all the hurry is about but okay," he smiled softly at his youngest daughter. He loved her with all of his heart and Lily loved him in return.
…
Lily was utterly relieved when she hoped onto the scarlet train. She ran towards one of the compartments to get changed. She wrinkled her nose when she pulled out her wand and whispered a spell to transfigure her uniform into the boys' one. Once she was wearing it, she walked straight out of the compartment in hopes of finding Alice Prewitt, her best friend, as soon as possible.
Luck didn't seem to be on her side though because she stumbled into somebody and barely spluttered out of an apology. She didn't know who it was and she couldn't care less. She tried to side-step the person but they began talking before she could say 'I've got to go'.
"Oh hey," the voice said with surprise mixed with curiosity. "It's alright. I haven't see you around. Are you a transfer? What's your name?"
Panic flashed through Lily. She couldn't very well say 'Lily' because people would think she's insane and that she's probably stalking herself. Lily didn't even want to tell anybody about this thing before she told Dumbledore. He needed to tell her what she had to do. This situation is weird.
The first name she thought of flew passed her lips making her wish she could do this day all over again. Maybe she would wake up the second time as herself. She'd definitely prefer to be herself than to be…a guy. It doesn't even sound right inside of her own head let alone telling somebody else.
"Liam," the voice hummed in thought. Lily looked up to say 'bye' but she couldn't talk. Nothing would come out. Of all the people to see her in this weird predicament it had to be the devil himself. Lily wanted to scream and say who ever the hell was up there that this was the worst thing that could've ever happened to her.
Why did it have to be James Potter to find her?
"Oh crap, not you," she mumbled to herself, miserably. James squinted his eyebrows, "Huh? Can you speak up? I don't have werewolf hearing," he replied, confused. Lily shook her head in a way to say 'don't ask' and he didn't. She put on a smile, fake as it was, it had to do.
"I'm Liam and you are?"
James smiled widely in return, "James Potter," he said as he stuck out his hand for a handshake and Lily shook it to be polite but it was rather awkward for her. James didn't seem to notice and it infuriated Lily. He didn't seem to feel awkward at all but friendly. Lily furrowed her eyebrows, why was he being so friendly? Was Potter an actual good person when he wasn't asking her out?
Lily shook her head, Potter isn't a good person and he's probably a crap friend as well. A feeling erupted in the pit of her stomach but she squashed it down. Just like she'd squashed the thought of him being nice. James Potter wasn't nice - he was evil.
"Do you have a compartment," he interrupted her thoughts with a question of his own. Lily didn't know what to say. What was she to say? The compartment behind her was just infiltrated by Third Years. She couldn't very well say she already had one because she had had one but that was pass-tense. She didn't have one anymore.
"Uh…"
"Good, you can just sit with me and my mates," he continued in a sort-of happy voice. Lily mumbled, "My mates and I," in a way of correcting his wording but he barely heard it. They walked in silence to the compartment well she did. James wouldn't shut up. He was talking about how she'd like his mates they were really nice guys.
Lily wanted to scoff at the sentence alone. Sirius Black was not a nice guy. He was just as bad as James was, for Christ sake!
Except she held her tongue. She knew what was best for her and getting into an argument with James Potter – like always, mind you – was not going to help this situation. If she couldn't switch back she didn't want Potter to be her enemy. He was, naturally, of course but if she were a guy having somebody like Potter upset with her isn't what she needs.
The moment he slid the compartment door open, he shouted; "Did y'all miss me?"
Remus poked his head out of the book he was reading, "James, you were only gone for, like, five minutes," he stated before he returned to his book. Sirius smirked, "You weren't gone for long enough, jerk," he joked good-naturedly. James' smile slid right off his face and Lily was starting to miss it a bit. His smile had been genuine for once. Not vindictive or mean.
It was a genuine smile and she was starting to like it but she wouldn't tell another soul that much less admit it to herself.
"I missed you, James," shouted the smallest of them all.
'Peter,' Lily thought with a slight twinge of annoyance. James shrugged in return, walking over towards him, "Thanks buddy," he said as he ruffled his hair. Peter grinned widely and nodded his head. He was happy that James was happy and that was scary to Lily. How could Peter wait hand-and-foot on a jerk like Potter? He needed better role models, she decided.
"Oh," blinked James as if he nearly forgot. "Guys, I'd like you all to meet Liam," he said as he gestured to Lily who stood in the doorway looking like a lost puppy. James merely moved to the side a bit for Lily to walk on in and Lily smiled sheepishly as she mumbled a 'hey'. Remus waved in return, "I'm Remus," he smiled with a nod. Lily was about to say 'I know' but she caught herself just in time. They didn't need to know the truth, it wasn't necessary.
Sirius smiled widely, "Black," he nodded to himself, "Sirius Black." Lily desperately tried not to roll her eyes and by forcing herself not to roll her eyes, she completely missed Peter when she introduced himself to her. Not that she didn't already know his name. She did but if she hadn't, she would've always been wondering his name.
A silence fell upon them and it looked like nobody wanted to break it. Lily wanted to walk away, to get out of there but she couldn't move her feet. Remus was too busy reading and James was too busy looking out of the window. Peter was fiddling with his fingers in his lap while stealing glances at James and Sirius was scrunching his nose up as he stared at her.
Unease settled at the pit of her stomach at the way his eyes roamed her face, analysing her. She wanted to cover her face and run for the hills but that would be cowardly.
"Oh, hey, you look like some girl I know," mumbled Sirius out of the blue or not-so-much. Lily expected it by the way he was watching her so closely. Her green-eyes still widened though and she didn't feel like lying all too much so instead she said "Um, do you mean Lily?"
Sirius' eyes widened, "Yeah, her."
Remus glared at him, "You can't just tell somebody they look like a girl, Pad," he hissed at him. "People will get offended, you know," he added. Lily looked back at Remus and mouthed, 'it's okay' to him. He didn't believe her though because from his point of review guys don't like being called girls. Remus would hate it so why shouldn't Liam?
She looked at Remus once more, licking her lips. She smiled in an unsure kind of way before she opened her mouth and spoke the words that made the four boys' jaws drop to the ground.
"That'd be because, um, I'm her, uh, cousin."
[A/N] I am so sorry that it's taken me this long to re-write it but it's here now! I hope you guys enjoyed that because I sure as hell thought it was funny the entire time. I don't know how I'm going to survive writing a book where James thinks he's going crazy. Omfg. I'm back and still so excited to write this! I love you all. Please review, bye.
