Jedediah POV
Chapter 25: One happy moment
Agrippa should be glad Octavius was there, otherwise I would've hit him straight in his face. I walked away angry from the discussion, but when I turned around I saw how Jacob said something to Agrippa. I couldn't hear what he said, but I could see his sad facial expression.
"Come on, we're going," I yelled at them. Jacob walked towards me immediately, but Agrippa and Octavius looked at each other first. Suddenly I was very curious about what Jacob just said to those two Romans. But I didn't ask and we kept on walking.
"I'm getting tired of walking around without seeing anything from the giants," I said after we quietly walked for a while. I was still in a very bad mood.
"Calm down, Jedediah," Octavius, who walked behind me, said. "If you keep shouting like that they will come eventually."
"Let them come, I can take them," I lied, but I didn't care because of the anger I felt inside. But when I heard Octavius sigh behind me I realized I had said something stupid again. No miniature can fight alone against three giants.
"Octavius?" I said after a while.
"What is it, Jedediah?" he answered. When I looked at Jacob and Agrippa I could see they both still weren't used to the way Octavius and I behaved so normal towards each other.
"I looked around for a while and I thought about it…," I continued. "But I think we are never going to make it back to our boxes before sunrise." The other three looked outside through the window I pointed to and then looked shocked back at me.
"You propose to hide somewhere the whole day long?" Octavius asked shocked to me.
"It's the best thing to do," I replied. "I looked around the entire way. Without the help of the giants we are not going to make it back in time."
"Then we have to look for a good hiding place," Octavius said, even though I could see on his face he didn't like it.
"But what if he is wrong?" Agrippa dared to ask.
"And what if I hit you in your face?" I said back and felt how my anger came back again.
"Jedediah is right about those things most of the time," Octavius answered Agrippa's question and ignored mine.
"Jedediah…," Jacob suddenly whispered beside me, but it didn't matter anymore. Cecil already saw us.
"Reginald! Gus! I found them!" Cecil yelled to nobody special. I didn't waste any time and looked around to find a way to escape. "Reginald? Gus?" Cecil continued yelling. There wasn't much time left. "Then I'll catch you without their help." That was when I saw the closet around the corner, not far away from us, and I took my chance.
"Octavius. To the left!" Octavius followed my instructions immediately and followed me to the closet. Jacob and Agrippa followed just a few second after Octavius. I kept on running, but when I almost reached the closet I heard Jacob screaming. "Jed! Help!"
I turned around and saw how Cecil placed his foot before Agrippa and Jacob. Agrippa was already taken by the giant and got lifted up. Jacob didn't hesitate a single moment. He jumped so he could grab with one hand the feet of the Roman and with his other hand he grab a shoelace of the Cecil's shoe.
"Jed! Help!" Jacob screamed again.
"Octavius, give me your sword," I said quickly. I didn't even have to look to catch Octavius's sword, we practiced this so many times before. I held the sword like it was a spear, I brought my arm high up behind me and threw the sword to the giant with all the strength I had inside me.
The sword hit Cecil's hand and with a painful cry he let the two miniatures go. Jacob and Agrippa fell, together with the sword, on the ground. Jacob jumped up, brought Agrippa back on his feet and grabbed the sword before he ran away. The two of them ran away towards us. In the mean time Cecil was recovered from the shock and ran after the two boys. With a little push from Octavius and me we all went beneath the closet just in time. Angry Cecil tried to reach us and kicked against the closet. We could feel how the ground trilled and heard Cecil cursing.
"I'll be back in a minute! Be sure of that!" Cecil yelled, but then he walked away. Finally I released my breath. For a moment I was scared he would've reached us.
"We're save," Octavius said clearly relieved.
"Thank you," I suddenly heard besides me. It was Agrippa who spoke to Jacob. "You just saved my life. And there was no need for you to do so."
"It was nothing," Jacob answered softly.
"I called you a coward," Agrippa continued. "I don't think I've been so mistaken about something before. Now I see you are brave and loyal. And now I'm sure you are so much more than that. I'm curious to find out."
I shook my head, still a bit mad. Why did those Romans need to be so stupid and weird? But then Agrippa smiled and reached his hand towards Jacob and without hesitating Jacob took his hand.
"That will be fine, Marcus," Jacob said and slowly smiled back to the Roman and finally the shook hands.
I also smiled a little, but I made sure nobody noticed it. Nobody needs to know I am happy with those Romans. I saw how also Octavius nodded satisfied, but then he looked shocked at me again.
"Jedediah, it is almost dawn and the giants can return any moment now."
That happy moment, that just lasted for a minute or so, immediately came to a end.
Lolz, kinda proud at this chapter. :D I love the part when Jacob and Agrippa finally shake hands, I even named the chapter to it!
Just kidding! ;P Hope you enjoyed it too. Thank you for all the amazing reviews and the undying support. It always puts a smile on my face! :)
