Hi hi to everybody! Well as a gift to everyone I'm updating on the fourth of July. So… Happy Fourth! Hope everybody has a great holiday! Anyway, another present for y'all… this chappie is all on Cam's pov. You can thank me later! Happy reading :)
I'm not one to judge anybody, but judging Washington was one of the things I wanted to avoid. There were so many adjectives I could say about the place, but unfortunately, heavenly or amazing weren't on the top of my list. Dad said we moved because of his new job and also that he said we needed change. Whatever that means. It shouldn't have applied to me because I was perfectly happy with my life; almost content. Taking the job here at Washington wasn't the only reason my dad moved us here. He wasn't going to admit it but I knew it was a more personal matter. After Meagan died, Mom strictly said we had no content with any cameras or press at all. The press made everything seem like hell. I don't mean that lightly. They asked pressuring questions that either gained a story for them or humiliated us in public. Well, it didn't help my family either way.
Once I stepped off the plane, my immediate reaction was to wrinkle my nose because of the awful stench in the air. Everybody was oblivious to it but me. Countless people roamed through the street minding their own business. Girls in groups tittered and giggled at things on their phones.
It's just like any state. Random people with nothing to do but roam.
I turned to my dad, with doubt and contempt on my face.
"This is what you call "High class" business?"
"I never said it was gonna be easy."
I crossed my arms over my chest.
"You just had to mess with my perfect life and we had to restart meeting new people all over again."
"Hey, you and your girlfriend doesn't sound like its perfect. You guys haven't reconnected in like what… almost a month?" Justin interrupted.
"Ok it's not that perfect, but I can't deal with not seeing Maya for a week. Being around her at school is fine even if we don't communicate as much."
"Well, those days are over Cam." Mom sighed.
"I wish they weren't."
"Is that who you want to be? A guy who's too obsessed with his girlfriend that he can't at least forget for a minute about her?" Justin said.
"Isn't that what true love is? Well, not the obsessed part."
"No little munchkin. It means you need to loosen up. Ya know be a man."
"I think I want my freedom for a while longer before that happens."
"What does that freedom entail if I may ask?"
"It means smile and hold people that make me happy until I'm forced to let them go."
"When you mean people you're only meaning Maya right?"
"Yeah… among other things."
A taxi came to pick us all up to our bought house. IT was two stories tall with six windows from the outside. There was a beautiful rose garden with Daisies, Pansies, and Tulips of different colors. Mom paid the taxi driver and we entered the house. Words like woah and o my gosh spurted from my mouth before I could take them back. Chandeliers hung from each room and an elegant table was placed in the living room. Entering my room I saw a bean bag chair next to a sofa, both were blue and a queen bed to accompany them. Too tired to register the whole house I plopped myself onto the bed; tired from our trip and drowning away my problems with sleep.
I awoke to the sound of my alarm going off. Dad and mom appeared at the foot of my bed whistling loudly.
"Up! It's time for school!" Dad yelled.
"It's too early." I whined pushing the covers higher above my face.
"Doesn't matter. You're not at Degrassi anymore son, this is Ridgeway Academy."
"I don't care about going now can I bail on my first day please?"
"Absolutely not." Mom interjected.
"They're all expecting you." Dad added.
"When you mean them you mean you and dad."
"Also," Mom said," Those teachers are excited to meet you."
"Joy." I responded.
When I didn't go lightly, they moved me a little more forcefully. Justin entered my room and dragged me from my feet off the bed. My head hit the ground which signaled that I was up.
"Fine. Fine. I'm getting ready now." I grumbled.
"Love you son." They said.
I snorted." Love you too."
Once they shut the door, Justin looked back at me wearing a comical face.
"Your head feeling better?" He said chuckling.
"Oh once I knock yours it will feel better." I said heading closer to push Justin's face like he did mine.
Justin moved away quickly and headed for the door.
"Just get ready bro we gotta be out in 5."
I sighed and quickly dressed and did my hygiene. School was pointless to me now. Without Maya in my life, home was the only thing exciting. I wish I could stay in bed all day but apparently that wouldn't be happening anytime soon.
I made my way down stairs quickly with Justin in tow as we both headed out the door.
"Love you." MY parents said.
"Love you too." Justin and I mumbled. On the bus, Justin examined my face and realized I was frowning.
"Hey bro, it's your first day, lighten up. Everything will be fine."
"How do you know?" I asked turning to him.
"It's just a piece of advice. You don't have to follow it you can ignore it for all I care."
"Sorry, I'm just trying to adjust."
"We all are."
Suddenly I realized something. I wasn't the only one struggling with living away from Toronto. Dad was probably battling with issues on his end about his new job. Or maybe Justin was worried on the inside rather than the outside. Simply, my family was having a hard time transitioning. It just wasn't me.
Once we arrived my mouth dropped. They weren't lying, this was a prestigious school. Girls and Guys alike walked together smiling while getting along with each other. Unlike Degrassi everyone seemed so tense. I looked at my schedule. It's time to make some new friends. Pushing myself away from the crowd, I headed inside to my locker. Suddenly I collided with a blond girl. My heart stopped. The girl looked like Maya, well excluding the glasses. IT was like a carbon copy. She even dressed the same as her. I gulped and held my book bag tighter.
"Sorry." I mumbled feeling my cheeks burn.
"It's ok. You seem lost." She said smiling. Even her smile was like Maya, gosh kill me.
"yeah I'm looking for advanced trig room 214."I said a little louder.
"Over here." She said grabbling my arm.
I tensed immediately and she felt it.
"Are you ok? I can let go of your arm if you want."
"I think that's a good idea." I said nodding.
She and I walked and made small conversation.
"So you new?"
"Yeah today's my first day."
"Cool. You into any sports?"
"Yeah I play ice hockey."
"Awesome I used to too. I play volleyball."
Impressive. Maya back home would never play ice hockey even if I forced her.
"Well, anyway Here it is." She said.
"Thanks." I said. But before I entered the room I turned back to her.
"Hey, what's your name?"
"Cynthia Robertson."
I smiled. Seems like Maya cyclone could be of good help to survive this. She immediately disappeared. When I entered, something shocking caught me by surprise…
Lol I managed a cliffie as another part of everybody's gift. Anyway you know what to do. So anyway until next time oh and tell me if you guys want next chappie of Cam or Maya's pov. Thanks. Again Happy 4th!
