Here we go the last chapter of Among the Captured. I have to say, this is kind of a sad moment, because this was really the first fan fiction I've ever written. But it's been up for about a year and a half, so I decided that it has to come to an end. Thank you to all of you who supported this fan fiction from beginning to end. And now, without further ado, the series finale of Among the Captured. Enjoy!:

When Luke woke up hours later, he was lying in a hospital bed.

Mr. Hendricks sat in his wheelchair at the end of the bed. "Ah, the hero finally awakens."

Luke tried to sit up, but he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder and gave up. "What happened?"

"We won, Luke," Mr. Hendricks replied. "It's all over now."

"It is?"

Mr. Hendricks nodded. "Yep. Smits is safe and sound back at his home and we have Oscar, Aldous, and Jason in custody. They can't hurt you anymore."

A couple of days later, Luke was allowed to leave his hospital and go home. His family greeted him to big hugs and kisses, and the rejoicing continued when Luke announced that Oscar and Aldous were in custody.

"I think this calls for a celebration," Luke's father said.

"Not yet," Luke said.

His mother frowned. "Why not?"

"Because I have to go to Jen's memorial site. It was a year ago today that she died."

Luke spent the rest of the day at the memorial. He didn't return home until after midnight. When he did, he went right to sleep.

In Luke's dream, he and Jen sat in the Talbot's living room. "We did it," he said. "It's all over now. The people who tortured us third children for years are in jail now."

Jen smiled brightly. "Good job, Luke! I always knew you could do it."

Luke looked down. "It's just…I wish you were here with me when it happened, Jen. It hasn't been the same without you."

Jen reached out and put her hand on Luke's shoulder. "Oh, you can see me whenever you want. All you have to do is remember me. Just close your eyes and I'll be there."

"Like right now?" Luke asked.

Jen smiled. "Exactly."

The next day, Mr. Talbot threw a party to celebrate.

When Luke arrived, the first thing he saw was Nina sitting in an armchair near the door. Her leg was in a cast, but she could still walk with crutches.

However, when she saw Luke, she did not use her crutches to rush over to him and throw her arms around him.

"Thank you," she whispered.

"For what?" Luke asked.

"For not leaving me behind and saving my life."

Luke looked at Nina. "I never would have dreamed of leaving you."

"So, it's all over now, right?" Nina asked.

Luke nodded. "It's the end of all that was bad for us third children."

Nina took Luke's hand in hers. "And the beginning of something new."
