"You guys suck at this." Eric said after beating us into the ground for the third time that day. "Thanks." I said, blowing a strand our hair out of my face and slowly getting back up even though my muscles protested against every movement I made. "Well you guys have been blowing all your time with throwing." He said with a sharp laugh that made me cringe. Eric was definitely an asshole.
Dex looked at me while we got back up. It was our first day trying to do taijutsu and he just kept knocking us down with out even teaching us anything. "Well that's it for the evaluation, now to teach you guys how to stand properly." He said with an evil chuckle and we both looked at each other and sighed. So that's what the whole fighting before even training was, he was testing our horseshit skills.
He made us get into the most basic stance and if we did it wrong he would hit us to the ground and each time he did it was just a bit harder to get back up. After three hours of excruciating pain he finally gave us the pass and we cracked out aching bones before we were told it was time to do chakra training. We both brightened up at this and ran to find Amy.
She was sitting by a lake and smiled once she saw us. "Over here." She said in her sweet voice and we sat crossed leg just like her and waited. "First we'll do some meditation in order to get a feel for your chakra and see how much you have." Amy instructed and we nodded while copying her ever movements. "Think of it like trying to find the pull of water inside of your stomach. It's a bit different from most peoples chakra since ours is from an animal, but it can be built up to the normal amount of chakra people have or possibly even more so and exceed them." Amy explained and we both nodded.
Finding chakra was hard for me. Dex got it within five minutes, as for me? I was having a lot of trouble getting ahold of the chakra. It ended up taking me a full three days to get it under control.
Week 3, Day 4
Once I got the control down it was a matter of trying to stick a leaf to the palm of my hand. My chakra control was absolute horseshit unlike Dex who was able to master that and is now working on tree climbing. "You're using far too much chakra." Amy said and I nodded, trying to use a little less and failing. "Maybe the next time they come in to do physicals they can see what's going on with your chakra…" Amy finally admitted defeat after an hour of leaves falling.
"What's wrong with my chakra?" I asked her and she shrugged. "Who knows, maybe the type of animal chakra. Everyone here is fused with different types of animals and if they happen to be the same animal, it's a different breed. Therefore a lot of people's chakras are vastly different. The thing we have in common though is our chakra appears orange. How are you doing with taijutsu training?" She asked me and I shrugged. "I'm decent, a bit better than Dex actually." I admitted and she smiled.
"Perhaps a fox is better at physical than spiri…that's it! Foxes are known for having a vast amount of spiritual energy. Maybe you have too much of it to control!" She said and I looked shocked that she spoke a bit loudly. "Sorry about that, although it's worth looking into. If we want we can submit a request to send you to the clinic where they can test this theory." She said and I nodded. "Okay…" I said and she smiled before getting up and checking on Dex. I continued my exercise until I deemed it pointless for the day.
Week 3, Day 6
The submission to send me to the clinic was passed and here I was, being tested for my chakra. They nicked my fingers and drew blood then made me run and then made me form chakra onto some paper and I saw it burst into flames. All-in-all it was a very interesting visit to the clinic. I was currently sitting on one of those old beds, waiting for the doctor to come back with my results.
They let me take Blake with me for 'moral support' or something like that, although he was just interested in the whole chakra business. "What do you think they'll find? Do you think they'll deem me unusable and send me away? Oh god, what if they do?" I asked frantically and Blake just chuckled before looking at me. "I don't think this is bad thing, it might even be good. It could be like Naruto, although you have a fire affinity like Sasuke. What if you're like a love child between the two of them?" He asked and I sighed. Sometimes it was hard to believe he was the strongest in the block.
The doctor decided to come in at that moment and give us the news. "It seems your chakra reserves are too large for your body at the moment and you need to learn how to control them correctly or else it could be bad." He explained and I gulped. "How bad?" I asked him and he sighed. "Well the chakra could get out and things around you could get injured by it. You're in a sense a ticking time bomb. I think we'll have someone come in here twice a week to check up on the chakra control and help you with it." The doctor said and I nodded.
We were excused after that and I walked back with Blake in silence. We got back to the rest, who were eager to hear the results. Namely my three friends Dex, Amy, and Eric were there. "She has too much chakra so they just will check on her twice a week to make sure everything is under control." Blake announced and they looked at me with a sigh of relief.
"You didn't tell them the bad stuff yet." I said, eying Blake. "Wasn't sure if you wanted me to share." Blake said in a defensive voice before looking at the curious group of friends. "If it can't be controlled then she's a ticking time bomb to the people around her, and herself. The chakra would get out and go haywire, probably getting into other people's streams and poisoning them or something horrible like that." Blake said and I nodded sadly.
"Well as long as we can control it, she'll be fine, right?" They asked and Blake and I nodded in unison. "Then we'll practice harder with control." Amy said with an optimistic voice that cheered my up a bit. "The doctor wrote me a note on training for you, Sage." Blake said while pulling out a small doctor's note and reading it. "At the start of the day deplete her chakra reserves in half by what ever means necessary to make sure they are at a controllable rate on all days besides Tuesdays and Thursdays when I come to check up on her." Blake read and I nodded.
"Anything else?" I asked and he nodded. "But it's just stupid adult stuff, don't sweat it. I'll make sure to follow these things properly to make sure you're as healthy as can be." He said and I nodded as he ruffled my hair. "So should we start with the depletion?" Amy asked and Blake nodded. "I was thinking of for her training she used chakra to enhance her muscles. With the amount of chakra she has she can hold it up for a whole day and only be half depleted." Blake announced and we all nodded.
"So she has to always be chakra enhanced during training?" Amy asked and Blake nodded. "Whether it be throwing kunai or sparring against Eric, it has to be amplified." Blake said and I nodded. "How?" I asked him and he smiled. "You remember how you put the chakra in your hand to stick the leaf to it?" He asked and I nodded. "But I couldn't even do that." I whined and he smirked.
"Because you were putting chakra in another object. This time you're just using it inside of you to make yourself stronger. No you won't be able to be like Sakura was after training with the Hokage, of course if you had the proper training it would be amazing and very strong…I'm rambling again. Anyway just do that to your whole body and test it out." Blake instructed and I focused my chakra to my whole body until I suddenly felt really light.
"Now to make sure you don't go haywire we are giving you weights so you feel normal." He explained and I looked terrified at the thought. Luckily it wasn't too bad and made me feel normal if anything. After that Dex and I did normal training and I enjoyed it quite a bit knowing I was probably going to get pretty strong from these heavy weights on.
Week 3, Day 7
Free For All
Dex and I were sparring with Eric to start off the day and it was going well. We almost landed a hit on him and we've only been training for a week. I mean yes there were two of us and only one of him, but it was totally worth it. Now fighting and keeping up chakra through your while body is extremely hard and Blake just says I just have to keep it up until it becomes natural for me like breathing is.
We were pinned down for the fifth time of the day and I chuckled before getting back up. "You're a strange one, Sage." Eric said and I smirked before giving a thumb up. "You know I make life here more interesting." I said with a sigh and he smiled. "Sure, of course you're an absolute bore when it comes to sparring. I mean it's so easy to beat you." He said and I puffed my cheeks out and he looked at me as if he said nothing wrong.
I huffed before getting into a fighting stance and once again taking off. I swung my leg towards his side and he grabbed it and lifted it up, making me fall. "See, an easy opponent." He said and I rolled my eyes. "Please, beating up a twelve year old is nothing to be proud of when you're like what, fifteen?" I asked and he frowned. "Sixteen, and when the said twelve year old has some inhuman chakra thing, yes it's an accomplishment." He said and I nodded.
"Inhuman? I never thought of it like that. After all, I'm just using a foxes chakra I thought it was total human." I said sarcastically and he realized how he's worded it. "Shut it." He said, squeezing my ankle and making me yelp before he let go. Dex came up besides me and looked at me with a small smile. "Wanna try to take him together this time?" He asked and I nodded.
I got up and nodded. I made a dash for Eric and he went to block my punch when I ducked and Dex came from behind me and almost hit him on the shoulder. He caught hi ankle and flipped him on his back. I went in to hit his back, but he threw an arm up and threw me off balance, making me fall. "You both suck." He said and I rolled my eyes. "First week, dude." I said, letting him help me up.
I heard a feint noise of someone calling me and ran towards it. I was really thanking these ears when I found Echo standing there. She looked a bit distanced and the thoughts of Blake's words make me gulp before I walked over and held her hands. "It's good to see you." I said and she nodded. "Same here." She said and it was a moment of silence for us.
"I passed…" She said, pulling out a headband with a strange teardrop in the middle of it. It looked like a tribal tattoo design for the tear, and in my mind it was cool. "I'm now a ninja for this place." She said as if it were a bad thing. "Isn't that good?" I asked her and she shook her head. "It means I'm now a weapon." She explained and I nodded. "I see…" I said while looking at her.
"I'm leaving tomorrow for a mission, I don't know when or if I'll be back." She said and I looked at her with a confused look. "If?" I asked her and she nodded. "A ninja can always die on a mission so you never know what mission will be your last." She explained and I nodded. "What will you be doing?" I asked her and she looked at me. "Just gathering information or patrolling our borders to make sure we're not found. It doesn't seem too dangerous, but still…" She said and I nodded.
"Be careful, okay?" I said and she nodded before she was called back. "Goody bye Sage, I will see you in maybe two weeks?" She said and I nodded. "I'll be waiting." I said before giving her a quick hug and going back to Eric and Dex. "How's your friend?" Eric said in a bit of a pissed off voice. "She's now a ninja, she'll be leaving on a mission tomorrow." I explained and he nodded.
"Oh course, those fire brats are always rising in ranks way faster than us even if we're better than them. Just because they show more raw talent than us…" He spat out and I gave him an odd look. "What's wrong with them?" I asked him and he looked at me. "Didn't you hear me? These guys were decent when they first got here and just because of that they think they're better than us. Just because they're naturally good doesn't mean we can't exceed them through practice. You know, Blake is easily as strong as those chumps and he's not a ninja due to him being here." Eric said while grinding his teeth.
Blake was better then them? Why don't they ever come here and test us then? Do they think so little of us? "Sadly our small group of friends are the only ones here who take training this seriously, the others just leave the moment they can without a second thought. They are the ones who belong here. Dex, Amy, Blake, Sage, and I…we don't belong here; we belong up there more than anyone. You two realize you're almost the same level as some of the people who have been here for two years since you guys train harder." Eric said while sitting down, crossed legged.
"That's just mean to the others, they could get better." We heard Amy say behind us and she sat down with us. "What? They're the ones who stupidly decide to spar the fire when they can't do shit since they barley train. They're the ones that give us such a shitty name." Eric explained and I nodded. "Maybe we could motivate them?" I asked and Eric scoffed. "You think Blake hasn't tried that? They just blow him off. It's pathetic." Eric said and we all frowned. That was how our day ended, us being pissed at our own clan's patheticness.
