I apologize for the delay, I haven't written anything in more than a year and while catching up with all the incredible stories out there, a pang of creativity hit me straight in the head. I hope you accept this as an apology of my procrastination. The story is coming to an end :)
When had she turned into this? She wondered as she blankly looked at the now dark sky. The stars were scattered in the darkness like the blinking lights that surrounded the Christmas tree.
She inhaled.
She exhaled.
She blinked.
His large hand caressed her face but she did not bother to turn. She did not want to see his face at the moment. She was not sure if it was because she would not resist melting into his touch or because she didn't want him to see her eyes. She knew they were blank. She felt blank. Empty.
When had she become so… so easy? Maybe that was too strong but she was not on a good term with herself at the moment. She hated herself.
His fingers clasped her jaw and he firmly yet softly turned her head towards him. His red eyes sparkled amongst the darkness. She relaxed under his grip. She was safe with him, she knew that. But did he know what she felt at the moment? Did he feel the confusion coming out in waves from her?
She blinked when his lips caressed her nose and slowly traced upwards towards her half-closed eyelids. She closed them as he delivered a chaste kiss on her left eyelid first and then one on her full lips. She sighed and drew herself into his warmth. It was useless.
She gathered herself and tried her best to calm her emotions. She sat up and his arms scooped her into his lap. Her face found its way into the crook of his neck and she could hear the sound of his breathing beside her ear.
"Sasuke-kun" she started and felt him tense, without thinking twice, she delivered a chaste kiss to his cursed mark and his muscles relaxed under her touch. "Please understand that I will not sit placidly as you kill everyone I once loved and still love" she whispered and turned to look straight into his now onyx eyes.
His gesture slipped into an emotionless façade, and she bit her lip. She closed her eyes halfway and kissed the side of his lips. She then whispered "I will stand by your side because I love you", the grip on her waist tightened and she could hear his heart beating faster, then she continued. "But you want to kill them. Not just the Council, but all of our- my village. And that I cannot allow. There are children there, Sasuke-kun, children who do not have any of the fault that you will punish them for".
She stood from his hold and looked at him through sad, viridian eyes. "I will help you kill the members of the Council who ordered the Uchiha massacre but I will fight you to my death if you try to punish the village for something they did not even know about. And Sasuke-kun, I can be a formidable opponent when I wish to be."
With that said she gathered her kimono and in a swift move put it on. She gave him one last look and walked off, sincerely hoping he would listen to her. If she woke up alive, she would have her answer. If not, she at least got to tell him how she felt.
The trees flashed by as the black clad figures ran through the foliage. She wore a hoodie to cover her exotic hair color and her medical pack was strapped to her waist. She did not bother to look at her partner, she knew that it would do no good. She should just be glad that she was alive, but her stupid brain could only think about how he felt.
She had known him for too long now, and she could recognize one of his moods. This was a particular sour one and they had only entered the countryside of Sound. If he was going to act like this for the next day or so, she would not be in control of herself.
She stopped at a thick branch and he paused to look over his shoulder in annoyance. "Move, Sakura" were his curt words and he turned to continue running but her hand held his arm in a firm grip. The presence of her gloves indicated that she was not kidding. "Sasuke-kun" she said and flexed her grip softly.
"Hn" was his answer before she turned him around and kissed him. His surprise was evident by the way her tongue managed to get into his mouth without trouble.
She pulled slightly away and whispered against his parted lips "Thank you".
She looked straight into his eyes and smiled. He blinked in surprise and closed his mouth as he nodded. Her smile grew a bit more and she stepped back as she unconsciously pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and looked away.
Before she could turn around and continue running, his hand placed itself at her hip and pulled her towards him. The aggressive kiss he delivered was enough surprise to make her moan out loud and his other hand went up to the hoodie, pulling it off with slight violence. His fingers ran through her hair and gripped it as he pulled her head back, his tongue entering her mouth with ease.
Her hands went to his hair and she pulled, trying to get some air but this only ignited his passion and he grinded against her core. The strangled moan that followed only made it worse.
"Sasu-ke-kun!" she managed to say before his lips attacked her neck and circled her ear lobe, making her clutch his biceps. She would not last long like this, her underwear was already too damp and she feared she would start to drip.
His palm slid under her knee and he aligned them perfectly, another moan proving it. She could feel his smirk thought their kiss. She grew bold and one of the hands that was entangled in his hair slid to his chest, where her thumb slid over his nipple. She then pinched him and rubbed it twice, she could feel his erection through her shorts.
Growing bolder, her hand slid to the front of his pants and cupped him softly. She heard his moan and pulled away from the kiss.
"Sasuke-kun, how about a quickie before going on?" she said and she swore the smile he gave her made her forget their current predicament.
Maybe she was a sex addict?
But just like any other addict, she would never admit it out loud.
They held hands as they posed as an elderly couple of citizens who were entering Konoha. It was quarter past five in the evening and the guards were not as rigorous as Sakura believed they would be. They were leaving this too easy for them. She almost regretted the future loss of the council men. Almost.
They walked into the main road and she briefly paused at the bench that held so many dark memories. His thumb grazed her knuckles and she continued walking. She could not help but reminisce about her previous life; the way she had always been babied, the way that she had always been loved. Was she wrong though? To accept the love that Sasuke gave her?
She scolded herself as she allowed Sasuke to guide her down the street, still lost in her own thoughts. What Sasuke felt for her was not love, it was an entirely different thing altogether. She would be wise to remember that, but she had never quite been wise when it came down to him.
The merchants down the street were all talking, yelling at the passing people with hopes that their chants of low prices would attract them but she kept walking, almost being pulled by the undercover nin beside her.
Her green eyes gazed around the market and she felt her chest tighten at the sight of a family of three; the father held the bags while the mother carried their young baby with a smile. She envied that. The lifestyle they had and took for granted. Her legs went numb and she stopped without any warning, her feet rooted to the ground beside her. It was only a moment, but Sasuke turned around without her noticing, annoyed at her stop.
He watched her as she watched the family, as her eyes sadly watched the life she understood she'd never have. His eyes softened and he wanted to hold her but he would not. She knew what she signed herself up to and he tugged her arm, almost regretting it as she came out of her trance and forced a smile at him. "I apologize, I just remembered something" she said, as if she thought he would not see through the lie. He let it slide. He preferred to not get into any sort of discussion when the people who he had been after for years were minutes away. He would not postpone this any longer.
Like easy prey, they were all hurdled together in their safe room. As if their dozen nin could stop the next Sanins. As if they'd ever be safe from the destiny. He smirked maliciously as he watched them react to the thuds of Sakura's fists on the outside of their room. They were not trembling yet but he could see the fear in their eyes. The noise ceased and he took that small step into the light.
"If it isn't the almighty councilmen and councilwomen,…" he said. He watched their eyes widen in sadistic pleasure as they looked at each other in great alarm. Would this be the end to the great men and women who had ordered the slaughter of his family? It would indeed be.
"Uchiha! We should have known that you were the one after this, you traitor" said an elder in hopes of looking brave. He chuckled and smirked once more, "Who else would hunt you animals down?" he murmured as he unclenched his fist, the chidori starting to form.
"What will you do? Kill us all?" one of them yelled and they all stepped back, "For what? We did nothing to you!" another claimed and his smirk disappeared. The chidori was cackling now and his fury could be sensed throughout the entire room.
"Is that true? Perhaps I've been fooled… or perhaps you're lying to me…" he said in a low voice, "Was it not you who ordered my own brother to assassinate my entire family? Was it not you who took everything away from me?" he yelled as he slowly walked towards the elders of the esteemed Konoha Village.
The elders seemed surprised to discover he knew of their sins and he grinned with madness, it was time.
"And what now, you will be our judge, our jury and our executioner? The noble Sasuke Uchiha" one spit out and the door opened, revealing a blank faced Sakura who in her hands held a yellow-looking scroll.
She walked into the light and looked straight at the men and women who she had trusted her entire life. "Sasuke-kun will not be doing all of that, honored council people" she said in a low voice.
"I hereby sentence you for treason and conspiracy against the nation by the method of execution" she stated with a monotonous voice and only stood there as Sasuke's chuckles grew louder, his chidori yearning for blood and flesh.
A scream was heard and the bloodbath began as Sakura stepped out of the room and leaved the tower. She sentenced the people in charge of her village to death, she thought as she walked down the dirt road towards the suburban neighborhood she had to visit before leaving. It was nearing dawn and this was her only chance.
He looked down to his armor and his clothes, he was soaked in blood. It was truly beautiful. It was finally over. He could rest in peace now, his family had been avenged. The weight was removed from his shoulders and he let out a tired sigh; all this time spent on revenge. On delivering death. It was finally over.
The remainders of the bodies would be found in a couple of hours, when the sound-proofing jutsu disappeared. Then, Konoha would mourn the loss of their so called heroes.
He scanned the building for the presence he needed at the moment yet he found only faint traces of her. His eyes closed in resilience and he shielded his sword. It was time to find that annoying medic of his and he had an idea of where to find her.
She was sound asleep in the pink bed, holding the young girl who he had only seen once before. She seemed to be alive and well and Sasuke could only be mesmerized at the sight. Would she look that peaceful as she slept in his bed? Would he ever be able to give her what she truly wanted? He knew she yearned for a family but could he risk losing them again? His stare hardened. He could not bear losing her. Losing what he had risked everything for. He would never let her go. He would give her everything she wanted except what she wanted the most because he would not lose her.
He detangled her body from the child's and picked her into his arms. She looked innocent and pure and clean even though he knew she was far from being any of those things. She was good, but she was not flawless. She was like him, stained but never ruined.
He looked at the child in bed and his gaze softened at the shiver she had caused by him taking away the source of warmth she had. Balancing Sakura in his arms, he covered the girl with her blanket and left the room with his medic sleeping soundly in his arms.
Looking down at her as they left the confines of the village walls, he wondered if a child so pure would be the clean slate they both wanted –the clean slate he needed. He looked down at her stomach, how would she look as she carried his heir in her womb?
There was all but one answer to that; beautiful.
Perhaps he should think of keeping true to his 12 year old self and completing his second goal in life, he mused as she puckered her lips in her sleep. Opening her eyes slowly, she looked at him with such tenderness that he began to believe that it wouldn't be completely impossible to give her all she wanted in life.
"Sasuke-kun?" she mumbled and he answered with a "hm" that resonated from his chest, making her feel the vibration and making her smile. "Sleep, Sakura. We're going home" he said into her ear as she closed her eyes and snuggled into his chest.
"Okay, Sasuke-kun. Okay".
Here is chapter 6, I finally delivered. So, what do you think?
btw, the girl who Sakura is in bed with is Lana from chapters 1 and 2 in case there was any doubt.
