A/N: So apologies for the confusion, a certain almost three year old of mine turns out to be rather good with laptops. He managed to delete Chapter 22 and replace it with chapter 21! I had to change it back again, So chapter 23 is here, also will be an epilogue to come.
As the months followed, Dumbledore and the Ministry had came to a final decision regarding Jeremy Thomas. He would be allowed to graduate but was only allowed to participate in Defence Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Astronomy and Herbology NEWT examinations. He was disqualified from taking the others due to the damage he had done. He was lucky to have the charges of assault dropped by James, who instead took out a restraining order on Jeremy and the latter was forced to take his examinations in a separate room.
Jeremy was still taking detentions and would continue them until the last day of term and the Minister had said that the job was still in place; to which Minister Bagnold had told Jeremy that the only reason she would admit him into the Ministry's employ was so that Georgia would have some financial stability for the baby; even if Georgia had forbade Jeremy from having contact with their unborn child.
Georgia had been having trouble with her OWLs, having gotten stressed out so much that Madam Pomfrey had prescribed her daily calming potions just to help the girl get through her exams. After two long weeks, Georgia sighed with relief when she stepped out of the hall after her last exam; only to panic when her waters broke in the middle of the entrance hall. Lily, who had been finishing a revision session with Professor Slughorn, took Georgia to the hospital wing and stayed by her side whilst Madam Pomfrey delivered a healthy baby girl; weighing in at six pounds and fourteen ounces. Georgia had decided to name the baby Daisy Elizabeth Lily Huntley, grateful to Lily's help despite what had happened with Jeremy.
Lily had even gotten to hold the baby but handed Daisy back to Georgia when Dumbledore walked in with Jeremy. She made to leave but Georgia requested that she stay, not wanting Jeremy to take advantage of her in her vulnerable state; even if the headmaster were present.
"Is she healthy?" Jeremy asked.
Georgia nodded, "Her name is Daisy."
"Can I hold her?"
Georgia hesitated but nodded a few seconds later and Lily handed the baby to her ex-boyfriend; finding it impossible to prevent herself from smiling when she saw Jeremy's face melt at the beautiful baby girl and tears began to stream down his face. It seemed to Lily that although she believed Jeremy to be incapable of genuinely loving a girl, he had instantly fallen in love with his daughter; even if Georgia was adament right now that this was the only time he would spend any time with Daisy.
The group were finding their NEWTs even more stressful than their owls, with Sirius constantly snapping at Marlene in the common room one night, humiliating Marlene. Lily couldn't help but laugh when Marlene got revenge by revealing to the whole common room the next day that Sirius wore 'tightie whities' sometimes, something which Marlene said didn't suit her boyfriend. Even Peter, Remus and James roared with laughter as Sirius tried to deny the fact but Marlene brought down his trunk and revealed that Sirius had a secret compartment for the embarrassing underwear. Sirius's excuse was that he only had a certain amount of boxers and the 'tightie whities' were a backup if the house elves hadn't done his laundry on time for him to wear a fresh pair of boxers. The two made up in a way which the whole group knew they did best and were happy to know that their relationship was fine.
On the last day of term, it was revealed that Gryffindor had won the Quidditch cup and the House cup for that year. Lily had come to the conclusion that although the year had been a dramatic one, it had been the best of her life. She had fallen in love, something which she had never experienced until getting with James. Her friendships were stronger than ever and had made new friends in Peter and Sirius and formed a stronger friendship with Remus. On the train back to London, the group shared a compartment with the boys playing exploding snap and Alice went off to spend some time with Frank and his friends.
Once the lunch trolley had been around, Lily moved closer to James.
"Do we tell them yet?" she whispered.
James took a bite from his chocolate frog and quickly swallowed, knowing what she was talking about. The two hadn't yet announced their engagement to their friends. James had bought a ring for Lily from a little jewellers in Diagon Alley during Easter break. It was a simple princess cut diamond on a white gold band which she wore on a chain around her neck; careful to keep it out of sight from the girls. They had both agreed to tell their friends once they knew what was happening with Jeremy; not wanting the whole school to gossip and have Jeremy turn on them again.
"I think now is a good time." he agreed.
"What are you two whispering about?" Sirius said loudly.
The two turned to look at their friends, all five staring at them(Alice still being with Frank). Lily turned to James and smiled.
"I think you can announce the news James."
"What news?" Marlene asked.
"We've been wanting to tell you for a while now-
"Oh my Merlin, Lily's pregnant!" Peter shouted.
"I call godfather!" Sirius yelled excitedly.
Lily's head fell into her hands, why was pregnancy always the first assumption in these situations?
"Are you Lily?"
Lily looked up, "No guys, I'm definitely not pregnant."
"So what is it?" Mary questioned.
"Lily and I are not having a baby, we're engaged."
The five looked at each other before looking back to James and Lily, pausing for a few seconds before cheering wildly. Hugs were passed around and hands shaken, the girls gushing over Lily's engagement ring which James had now put in it's rightful place on her wedding finger. Alice and Frank rushed into the compartment, announcing their own engagement and the group decided to go for celebratory drinks at The Leaky Cauldron once their belongings had been dropped off at their homes.
The train pulled to a slow stop at platform nine and three quarters and the group made their way off the train and bade each other goodbye; even if they were meeting in a few hours. James kissed Lily goodbye and made his way over to his parents.
"Jamie, there's my boy!" Dorea gushed, hugging her only son.
"Hello son, who's the redhead you were kissing?"
"That would be my fiance."
Charlus looked from his son to his wife, both exchanging a happy look before turning back to their son.
"What's her name?"
"Lily Evans."
"The one you harassed?" Dorea questioned.
"Now now Dorea, our Jamie has a natural talent of talking people around. How else do you think he gets the latest broomstick model?"
"Will we meet her?"
"Soon Mum." James promised.
Dorea patted her son's cheek and Charlus picked up Jame's trunk and the three left King's Cross station, with James happy in the knowledge that he had finally won the heart of the girl who was perfect for him in every way. The one he knew that he would spend the rest of his life with.
