With her head between her knees, Yuuki didn't notice the shadow that passed through her room, walking towards her with silent determination.
It was only until the figure knelt beside her, did she raise her head slowly at her intruder.
Her eyes met the dark brown pupils of Kaname Kuran, inches from her face.
Yuuki asked cautiously, "Were you here the whole time?"
He nodded silently.
She buried her face in her knees again and closed her eyes.
"I kissed someone."
She shook her head. "I mean, he kissed me. But I should've stopped it before it happened. He thought it was a date, but it wasn't.. I mean how was I supposed to know? I can't…. He didn't even ask me, well I guess you're not supposed to ask.. well it's kind of weird to ask someone that, but it would make things so much clearer..*groan*." She was rambling now.
She lifted her head a little to peek at his reaction.
Kaname was seated, resting with his hands planted on the ground behind him, supporting him, looking resigned.
He finally spoke, "Who was it?"
Yuuki whispered, "Toreo MInobe."
"Kaname.. I'm so sorry.."
Yuuki wanted to convey how upset she was at the way things had turned out, but could find no other words.
Kaname let out a deep sigh and closed his eyes.
"You would object to his death, I presume?"
"Yes…?" Yuuki's unsure response became more firm as she realized this threat was real. "YES, I would!"
Kaname opened his eyes slowly to look at her and chuckled at himself mirthlessly. "Ah, I haven't felt this way since Kiryuu was here. But you have a way of bringing out the jealous side in me Yuuki."
"Zero?" Yuuki asked, surprised at this mention.
Kaname tilted his head, still keeping his eyes on her. "Oh, I hated him."
"Why?"
Kaname leaned towards her, brushing tear-soaked strands of hair from her face. "You think I wouldn't mind that another man had spent every waking minute with you, drank your blood, kissed you?" The last phrase was a hiss.
Kaname this close to her was making her head spin, but she managed to utter a few words of protest. "We never.. I mean, I didn't kiss him."
"What?" It was evident in his tone that he was surprised, incredulous even.
"You were the first, Kaname, the only.." She looked down in frustration as this was no longer true.
Kaname was frozen in shock. He was so sure that something must have happened between the two of them, if not while they were in school, but at least when she spent that year apart together. He was so convinced that her heart had been divided between the two of them, but maybe, just maybe, there was only one person she wanted.
The relief that he felt almost made him forget his anger at this new threat Minobe. Almost.
"So, you don't like this Minobe, do you?"
She shook her head furiously in protest.
"Did you enjoy his kiss?"
She shook her head again, "I just want to forget about it."
"Well, then," he replied. "Let's make you forget."
Kaname leaned closer and with his fingers under her chin, brought their lips together.
