Chloe slipped in her party dress from a few nights ago and found herself slightly put off. She looked pleasing enough but the only eyes she found she really cared to see her in the dress had already viewed it. Calming her nerves she slowly unravelled her hair, letting her soft natural curls flow down her back. The bite mark so prominent on her sun kissed skin. Closing her eyes she takes a deep breath. It had hurt so much, it had felt like a thousand knifes were being plunged into her body, all seconds after the other. But that hurt had only lasted a couple hours, and she had learned to forgive Alek when she had woken up to his sorrowful eyes that told you he had felt the same pain through her. She had forgiven him, because although he had tied her to him for god knows how long, she had done the same thing to him. She had asked him to fake a marriage only months after there break up, one that effect him more then words. Emotionally and physical pain isn't all that different. It still hurts like hell.
While she had been thinking, Alek had snuck into their hotel washroom. She hadn't heard him, but his scent in an instant became overbearing in the worlds most perfect way. It felt as if it was wrapping itself around her, similar to the feeling of a warm blanket and a glowing fire on a winters night. She could feel him right behind her. Clean, soft, warm and inviting.
Fingers began to softly crawl up her arms slowly, breathtakingly slow, towards her bare shoulder. The gentle hands begin to move her soft curls away from her shoulder and neck. And then a soft kiss, one more intimate then a bunch of lustful ones, was placed on her shoulder.
Chloe's eyes open slowly, her heart pounding in her chest, and her mind racing.
"Hey," she said staring at him through the mirror.
"Hi."
His fingers gently traced the bite mark on her neck. His head bent and his nostril flared as he breathed in her new scent. When he finally lifted his head, he caught her eye and she found his beautiful brown eyes had swirls of something undistinguished.
"You smell so different," he whispered. "I- I, the mate part of me, the animal side loves it."
"How about the Alek part?" She whispers back, shocked at how easy it was to talk to him in this position.
He turns Chloe around swiftly, spinning her so she doesn't fall over her dress, but glides into his embrace. His hands loosely holds onto her hips.
"The Alek part of me," he whispers leaning in slowly, "likes it a lot too."
She blushes.
"But I'm sorry," he says, " for biting you. I never dreamed about doing that to you."
Chloe nods and reaches in for a hug, his eyes were a mixture of lust, and sorrow and Chloe found she couldn't look at them much longer.
He tightens his hand on her hip and refuses to lean into that hug.
"I'm sorry, no, I lied."
Chloe quirks an eyebrow, confused.
"I wanted to Chloe, from the moment I knew you were Mai. Even when I just thought you were one of us, no proof or anything, I had wanted to. So. Badly."
He takes a rough step back, his hands dropping from her.
"I, god, you don't understand how you made me feel back then, how you make me feel now. I'm sorry."
"You don't have to be. I forgive you, it's alright." She mummers, coming her face.
"It isn't. You don't understand Chloe, when this is over you can go find someone new, it'll be hard because you'll be allured to me, your mate, but your strong you can do it."
"You can to," she says, the words rough on her tongue. She doesn't want him to.
"I can't, I don't even want to try. Chloe I still have feelings for you, I do, and I'll try. I'll try my best to fix this, to make the Mai leave you alone so you can live your life."
"Alek-"
"I'm not asking for you to say you l-, have feelings for me, I'm just letting you know Chloe. That's all. Your still my best friend and I'm still yours." He says strictly back to no emotion Alek, only sometimes with a cracked smile but always with a false up front. Chloe runs a hand down her face, she promised herself that she wouldn't say anything. That'd she'd keep her emotions at bay, and live this lie that as days pass she finds she wants real. But it doesn't matter what she wants. Or even him right now. Because whatever they have it will go away, every strong feeling does because some how something else breaks it apart, and she doesn't want to have to deal with another heartbreak, and when losing her best friend is at stake.
"Enough of that," he says smilingly charmingly at her. He quick grabs her hand, his warm and large ones cupping hers, and then he lifts her arm up spinning her around. "You look absolutely stunning, love."
She smiles at him. Her heart clenches, his pet name was a given now, it was a sign of endearment, one she loves to hear. He smiles back. His hair was messy and Chloe ached to run her fingers through it. His white button up fit his muscles perfectly, just as the black trousers he wore did. His smile was all white teeth, and soft lips. She loved his smile.
She really did.
"Now where's my compliment?" He says taking a step back.
His eyes held a playfulness to them but also the most tiniest spark insecurity. Chloe's face paled. She's seen that look on his face so many times before. All directed to her. Always. Because Alek was self aware, he knew how handsome he was. He used it to his advantage many times before but in those cases he never doubted himself. It was always Chloe who made him doubt. And she hated that. It wasn't fair to him, he constantly doubted if his touch was too much, gentle hands that were as soft as a whisper barely there but enough to make her shiver. She hated how insecure she made him, when all she wanted was him to be happy too. Fuck it, she thought.
"Alek I-"
"I think you look extraordinary?" He said cocky like, with a hint of question.
"No, Alek I'm going to tell you something extremely important." She said her tone light but her eyes closed not wanting to look at him.
"Of course," he whispered soothingly.
"I," she breathed out. Her hands somehow made it into her hair, her fingers pulling at the roots.
"Hey," Alek whispered, "stop."
Chloe opened her eyes slowly to find Alek mere breaths away from her. She watched as he untangled her fingers and gently combed her hair down with the soft touch of his own. After he was satisfied he took one tendril of hair and moved it behind her ear. His fingers lightly brushing against her ear, soft and loving.
"Alek," she says taking a step back. He follows her step, and moves once more towards her.
"Stop, I can't, wait." She whispers.
"Okay," his voice sounds tortured. She watches him as he shoves his hands in his pants, his muscles in his jaw flexing and her heart starts to speed up.
"Alek, I, I want you the way you want me." She breathes out quickly. Alek's frame is rigid now, the muscles in his arms at full attention, his eyes wide with shock.
"I have these strong feelings for you," she continues. "I don't know how to explain it, I'm not good at words like you are, but I feel something for you that's more then platonic."
Then he rushes at her, his mouth on hers, his hands touching everywhere they can. Her face, her waist, her hair, her hips. His mouth harsh but loving, he kisses her like he's dying, and she can't help but kiss him like that back. His scent is all the she smell, and her lips is all that he tastes. But it ends, as fierce and rough as it begins when they both gasp for breath.
"Chloe," he mummers after he caught his breath. His mouth hovering over her bite, his lips whispering secrets into her skin.
She roughly pulls back.
"I can't," she cries, her face now has tears rolling down them.
"What?" He asks, his face as fallen, "was I too rough, I'm sorry." He gives her neck a small soothing kiss. "I'm sorry."
"No the kiss, god the kiss was amazing. You always make me feel something I never knew I could feel, but I can't." Her tears are making everything blurry, she can't see the sadness seep onto his face, the looks of lose and utter pain. "We can't do this. It'll ruin everything. God I want to, but we can't everything ends, and me and you can't end because I need you. I need you more then my body does, your my best friend."
A lapse of silence enters the room before Alek clears his voice.
"And we can't be both? We can't be best friends and something more?" He whispers his voice heavy and rough, but still loving and careful. His eyes are innocent, and clear. Just searching hers, trying to understand her.
"No because when it ends, we won't be either will we?" She says sadly.
"We won't end then," he says reaching for her.
"You don't know that," she says her voice rising, just like the hair on her arms.
"But you want me right now?" He whispers, his voice hesitant."
"I do but that's not enough," she says, her voice raising on each word as he slowly rubs his thumbs in gentle circles on her bare arms.
"It is," he says kissing her forehead. "But I'll show you it is. I've waited for you this long, I can't wait a week or two."
"What?" She asks opening her eyes to find his full of mirth.
"I'll show you wanting me is enough," he says leaving down to whisper in her ear. Her head jerks back as he gives her earlobe a gentle bite. He smiles at her shock, and walks backwards towards the door.
"No no no no no no no," she tells after him, "Alek this isn't a game!"
