Chapter Three: The Breakfast Club and The Get away Crew

"Hit me with your best shot."

My answer sounded completely irrelevant when I heard it out loud, and I was almost embarrassed by it, but Austin was giving me a competetive vibe that I couldn't shake off.

"You asked for it, Ally-Cat." He snickered.

He switched from sitting on a desktop to leaning against the teachers front desk in one fluid movement.

"Truth or dare?" He asked casually, holding his hand out in front of him, pretending to check his nails.

"Truth?" I asked unsure, hoping that my cowardice wouldn't boost his ego.

He shrugged, "Okay..Is it true that... you're a virgin?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Wow, you're so original. Yes, it is true. Almost as pure as Mary herself."

"Almost?"

The blood flooded to my face. I mentally crossed my fingers, hoping that he had assumed I meant I had been with another person.

"I- You can only ask one question. Truth or dare?"

He laughed but dropped it. "Dare."

Dare. He picked dare. What could he be expecting? I got up and leaned next to him on the huge front desk, hoping that my new position would save me from further awkwardness.

"Um.." My eyes flickered back and forth from him to the floor. "Oh! I dare you to get Hemberly to divorce us!" I looked up at him, trying to hide my smile.

"And how the hell do you want me to do that?"

I gave him a look and he knew.

"Hell. No. Absolutely not. If you think I'm- "

"Desperate times call for desperate measures," I batted my eyelashes and touched his face lightly, "Sweetheart."

"Nope, your dare is invalid. You lose a turn." He gave me a toothy grin and touched the hand that rested on his face, "Sweetheart."

"Austinnn!" I whined loudly, but he shook his head. I yanked my hand back.

"Truth or dare." His voice no longer held question.

"Truth."

He rolled his eyes but then his face softened.

"Why- Why aren't we... I- Um, nevermind."

"Wait, no. Why aren't we what?" Something about his expression drained me of my previous bitterness.

The look on his face showed exasperation but his eyes looked almost.. ..sad.

"Just drop it, Dawson."

Before I could respond, the door swung open, revealing Mr. Lancaster, a history teacher. He had a fist full of both Dez and Trish's shirts. Withouta word, he shoved them into the classroom and slammed the door behind them, leaving with a distressed screech.

"Fuck," Dez murmured, "Old man can't take a goddamn joke."

"Worth it." Trish and Dez laughed.

Austin cleared his throat and they looked up.

"Whoa, hey dude. What are you doing in here?" Dez asked, still chuckling.

"Me and Alls got lunch detention and Saturday detention."

"Ally." I corrected, but they ignored me.

"Sounds like it could get real steamy real quick." He wiggled his eyebrow, turning to face me. I scowled at the floor.

"No-"

"Yeah man, you walked in on a game of Truth or Dare."

"Oh really?" Trish interjected.

I blushed, "It wasn't like that.."

"It really wasn't," Austin defended, catching me by surprise.

Dez gave him a weird look but he ignored it. "So what 'joke' could he not take?"

Dez began to say something but Trish smacked his arm. "Don't tell him!" She giggled. I raised my eyebrow but when she tried to answer my unspoken question, I cut her off with, "I don't even wanna know."

She giggled again.

oOoOoOoOoOo

The next hour dragged on. We told stories and relived each others memories. We were aching from laughter when Hemberly finally returned.

We held our breath as she walked into the classroom. It took her a moment to notice that there were more than two students sitting at desks.

Her eyes narrowed. "You," She began, poking a finger at Dez and Trish. "What are you two doing in here? This is detention."

Dez rolled his eyes. "Uh yeah. We know it's detention. S'why we're here."

Trish bit her lip to contain her laughter.

"Well you need to find another room because this is a private detention."

"But-"

"LEAVE!" Her tone left no room for argument. Trish jumped out of her seat and scurried to the door, obviously scared. Dez on the other hand, took his precious time, walking leisurely and pretending to fumble with the handle when he got to it. When he was finally gone, she turned to us.

"Why did you let in Mr. Dezmond and Ms. De la Rosa into my classroom? And if you lie, you will be given a much worse punishment."

I turned to Austin, not knowing what to do.

"Lancaster let 'em in. Actually forced 'em in, to be honest." He answered casually with a shrug.

She looked ready to rip out her hair. "I've had enough of your games, Mr. Moon," She turned to me and smiled a smile that could give you nightmares. "Ally, dear, you'll tell me the truth, right?"

Hemberly had never liked me. In fact, she had always despised me. She tried everything in her power to get me taken out of class. I was always correcting amd questioning her. The fact that she thought I would suddenly cave and tell her 'the truth' was honestly revolting.

"Well unless you want me to repeat what Austin said.. I don't see the point. You can't just assume that he's lying, especially for no apparent reason. Lying about something as miniscule as letting someone into detention isn't really necessary. Do you get some sort of thrill from punishing students for no reason?"

She blinked at me in disbelief. "Excuse me?"

Austin remained silent as my new found courage took control of my mouth.

"I said-"

"I know what you said Miss Dawson. And since you seem to think you are so superior as to be aloud to speak to me that way, you and Mr. Moon will be spending your friday night cleaning the classrooms."

Austin groaned but she ignored him. "I will make sure to leave you with a key this Friday so you can enter the school. I will ask the other custodians whether or not you showed up, so don't think about skipping." She continued to rant for what seemed liked hours until she finally gave up.

"Just go to your next class!" She flung herself into her chair and Austin and I ran out of the room as quick as we could.

"What time is it?"

"It's time to go." He snorted and grabbed my wrist, pulling me towards the main doors.

"Where are we going?" I whispered, letting him pull me out to the parking lot.

"On an adventure. I can't handle school today and you look pretty fed up, so let's go." He said with a smile on his face.

He told me to wait on the sidewalk, then brought a car around. He slowly rolled the passenger window, like they do in the movies and said, "Don't think this means we're friends or something now. I still hate you."

I opened the door and swing myself into the seat beside him. I flashed him a grin and said, "I still hate you, too." And we were gone.
