Chapter VII: The Blue-Eyed Titan

Hiccup and Merida were running around the city trying to gather exactly what's going on.

"Ay, it's Flynn," Merida pointed out and they both ran up to him. "Do you have any idea what's going on? Where is half the military? When did all of this happen?" Merida forced.

"I don't know much," Flynn replied. "It all happened around an hour ago." he stopped talking once his voice became unsteady. Merida and Hiccup could tell he's already seen more than he can handle; he must have not been a victim of what happened five years ago. He finally spoke up again. "A large majority of the military went outside the wall to gather a large enough boulder to block the hole the titans created. We have no clue how long they will take to get back, or if they can even manage to convey one all the way over here."

"I don't understand," Hiccup spoke up. "Why are they worrying about covering up the crevice? Shouldn't we be gathering everyone and transporting them safely inside the other wall?" he questioned.

"We can't. There is not enough room inside that wall to hold everyone here. We would have to lose a lot of people. Not to mention this year more people have become sick than ever before. There would be a riot. Besides, the hole in the wall isn't unsealable. If we seal it up we won't have to worry about moving everyone to another location."

"So you're just going to trap them in here while titans are running around?!" Hiccup shouted, his temper took control of him.

"What's worse? We would lose a lot more people if we tried anything else."

"Hiccup," Merida said in a soft voice to try to comfort and calm him down. "He's right. We have to trust that the military can do this. And while we wait, we'll take down any titan we see and protect the citizens."

Hiccup clenched his fists together tightly, he could feel his fingernails digging in to his skin. "Fine," he said "Then we better not wait around. Everyone is counting on us. Let's go."

Merida gave him a nod and they both went off to do whatever they could to help.

In a different location Anna had been split up from Elsa and was on her own. She was in a difficult situation, as she was trying to get away from a titan that has been chasing her for a short while now. Normally, she would try to take the titan down, but she lost her swords in an incident previous to this one.

She used her maneuver gear to glide across the roofs; she did not want to take chance by running on the ground and having the titan catch eye on a citizen, so she stayed high above ground to avoid any of that.

She was doing good at dodging the titan for a while, but she knew odds would be against her soon, though, she never thought it would be this soon.

The gas in her manuever gear ran out, causing her to have to set foot on the nearest roof. She tried to play around with the maneuver gear a little, hoping she could manage just a little more gas to get her to a lower level, but she had no such luck. The titan was nearing closer and Anna look a few looks around.

There was nowhere she could go. She couldn't jump far enough to reach any of the other buildings, and jumping down was no option; no one would survive a fall that high.

Her heart began to race and her hands became shaky the closer the titan got to her. She kept looking around, pacing, but she was doomed the second she stepped foot on this roof.

Anna knew she would become titan food within seconds, and that terrified her. She knew there were many ways to die in this world, but the last way she ever wanted to go was by the mouth of a titan, of a monster. The thought frightened her. She refused to become titan food. Anna took a deep breath and took a step back.

She decided she would rather fall to her death than become titan food. She hated having such limited options, with none of them being a chance at survival. She realized she may end up looking like a joke to the entire Survey Corps by choosing suicide over sticking with her mission, but she was too scared to do anything else. The fear of death took over her.

She finally stepped back enough to reach the edge of the building. The moment she felt her heel step off the building her heart dropped. Her whole body began to shake now. She took one more deep breath and closed her eyes, lifting her arms up and held them out straight like the wings of a plane. Tears were rolling down her cheeks.

"I'm sorry, Elsa." She whispered, only wishing she could see her sister once more, wishing she could at least say a proper goodbye.

Anna took one foot off the building, then leaned back and let her weight do the rest for her. By the time the titan reached out to grab her, she was already falling. She kept her eyes closed the whole way down, too afraid to accept reality anymore. She knew she wouldn't be part of it much longer, yet tears continued to fall as she fell to her death.

Hiccup and Merida noticed a little girl who was trying to escape a titan. Without hesitation they quickly went up to the scene. Hiccup used his manuever gear to reach the titans height, but he got distracted for a second. Snapping out of his, he took out his swords and neared the back of the titans neck. He gathered more speed but he was a little off, he gave an attempt at cutting a nape in the titans neck but failed. He quickly lowered to the ground and go back on his feet, noticing he only had one sword left.

"Wait, what? What happened to my other-"

"Hiccup, look out!" Merida shouted, taking out one of her arrows and quickly shooting the titan right in its left eye. The titan was about to reach for Hiccup, but this caused it to stop and cover its eye with its hand. Hiccup noticed and quickly ran over to Merida.

"Ah, thanks." He said, panting.

"What was that all about?! You could have died, what were you doing?!" She yelled.

"I-" he stopped for a second. What WAS he doing? He questioned, then tried talking again. "I lost one of my swords."

"How? I didn't see anything fall."

"Yeah, me either.. It was in my hand one second and gone the next. It makes no sense."

Merida groaned for a bit then quickly took out her own swords. "Well, we can't just keep him roaming around here." she said, leaving Hiccup behind as she made her way up to the titan and took it down by cutting the nape into its neck; doing what Hiccup failed to do.

Hiccup looked around for his sword, trying to figure out where it could have gone. He looked at the titan once more and noticed something he's only seen a few times before.

The titan looked as if it had armor on some patches of its body. It didn't just look like armor, but ice, too. A strong curiosity grew inside Hiccup.

The little girl was crying in a corner. Merida gave attempt to calm her down. "Hiccup, help me out." she said.

Hiccup practically ignored her words. He was focused on something else. He started to walk away from her, walking toward another titan some ways away.

"What are you doing?" Merida questioned.

"I have to check something out, I'll be right back." Hiccup replied. "This could be extremely important." he added.

"Hiccup!" Merida tried to stop him but he was already gone. She had to stay back and get the little girl to safety, but she was really worried about Hiccup.

Hiccup used his manuever gear to glide himself up on to a roof, being in easy sight for a titan a few buildings away. Without fail, the titan noticed Hiccup right away and started darting toward him.

"Okay. I can do this." Hiccup said to himself as the titan came near.

Hiccup didn't move. He stood in place and waited for the titan to grab him; which it did.

This titan was similar to the one him and Merida just encountered, it also had what looked like armor on it. The titan held onto Hiccup, bringing him up to its face.

Hiccup managed to get his arm and sword free from the grip. There was a patch of that armor on the back of the titan's hand, and Hiccup reached his sword in that direction. He stretched and stretched his arm out until the tip of his sword touched the armor. Within a second his sword froze to the armor, just as Hiccup expected it would. But what Hiccup didn't expect is the sword wouldn't get free. He tried to pull on the sword but it was quickly getting cold. He had to let go of the sword before the cold reached the handled, if he didn't, his hand would freeze along with the sword, and his body soon after.

Hiccup didn't have a weapon anymore. He tried to move around to get loose from the titan's grip, but failed to do so.

"Shit, shit!" he shouted at himself. He knew his curiosity would get him in trouble one day, but he didn't think it would lead to his death.

Hiccup reached the titan's mouth, and the titan quickly threw him in, but Hiccup refused to give up. He grabbed one of the titan's teeth, pulling himself up and trying to get out of the mouth before it closed. He was almost out. Reaching his arm out, and managing to get half his body out.

"Okay, I can do this." He said, looking around for some options. All he needed was one spot where he can glide to with his maneuver gear. He quickly found one and tried to stand up straight, taking attempt to jump out of the titans mouth.

Hiccup jumped out, but it was too close for comfort. The titans mouth shut tight. He did manage to get most of himself out on time, however, part of his left leg got caught in the bite. It detached. It was completely gone in seconds. Hiccup screamed in agony. The pain was too much for him to handle. He passed out while falling toward the ground and wasn't able to stop his fall with his maneuver gear.

Merida was finally able to get back to Hiccup, but what she saw scared her more than anything she has ever seen. Hiccup was was missing part of his left leg and was falling fast towards the ground. "HICCUP!" She shouted. She ran, but the more she ran the more she realized she would never get to him on time.

Before she knew it she was crying. She never stopped running despite all odds being against her. She had to get to him no matter what.

A titan came in our of nowhere. Its eyes were glowing blue and its body was almost completely covered in armor. It's the same titan that Rapunzel previously encountered but it didn't notice her.

Hiccup was nearing the ground but the blue-eyed titan reached out for him. Hiccup landed in the titans hand gently. Merida screamed at the titan, telling it to leave him alone. She didn't care if it couldn't understand her, she kept shouting, running closer to them.

Out of surprise to Merida, the titan lowered Hiccup down and set him down gently on the ground, then stood back up and turned away.

Merida was in shock, but she quickly snapped out of it and finally reached Hiccup. Ignoring the blue-eyed titan that was right by her she placed her head to Hiccup's chest; he was still breathing but he was loosing a lot of blood. She quickly ripped off a piece of her shirt and tied it tight around Hiccup's left leg. She kept presser on it, but he was still losing a lot of blood.

Merida's tears never stopped but she tried to keep a straight face. She moved him over and set him up against a building. Merida looked around for anyone else who could help get him get to a medical building, but there was no one around.

The blue-eyed titan walked away from the two and dashed toward the titan that just harmed Hiccup. It attacked the titan, ripping its arm off, then taking a giant bite in the back of its neck; equivalent to cutting a nape into it. The titan died right after.

Merida didn't know what to do. She's never seen anything like this before. A titan? On their side? It made no sense. She didn't want to worry about it, all she wanted to worry about was Hiccup.

Merida noticed someone in the distance and attempted to shout out to them; "Hey! Over here, please help! My friend needs help!"

As the person got closer she noticed she never saw this guy before, but he was wearing a military corps jacket so she decided to put trust into him to help Hiccup.

The guy had bright red hair, even more red than Merida's. He was fairly tall, and had to be somewhere in his lower 20's. He looked worried for some reason. Then again, there was a boy missing a leg right in front of him.

He never gave Merida a response so she waited until he was closer to speak up again. "Please, I can't keep pressure on his leg and carry him to medical help at the same time. Could you please help us?" her voice was wobbly as she tried to fight back tears and keep a straight face.

The man seemed hesitant to say anything but eventually spoke up. "How..did this happen to him?" the man's voice was almost too quiet to hear. He couldn't seem to take his glance off Hiccup's leg.

"..A titan. We can talk about this stuff after we get him help." Merida was getting impatient with the man, but didn't want to bring her voice up in fear of scaring him away.

He took a few steps back. "I-I'm sorry... I can't help you.. I.. I'm really sorry." after he spoke he already turned around and ran behind a building before Merida could even reply.

"Get the hell back here!" so much for keeping her voice down. "Asshole!" she shouted. Tears were running down her cheeks now when she looked back down at Hiccup. "Please, stay strong," her voice cracked "I promise I'll get you help."

Anna opened her eyes. She was in Kristoff's arms. Luckily, he was able to catch her before she hit the ground. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

Anna's eyes filled with tears waiting to spill out. She looked at the man who caught her. Anna came to her senses and quickly got out of Kristoff's arms, her feet were back on the ground once more.

"Heh.. That was like some crazy trust excercise." Anna said, trying to brush the incident off like nothing happened. For some reason she didn't want him to know she just gave attempt to take her own life. She didn't want to look like a joke; not that he would ever think of her as one.

Her legs were shaky, still scared from being so close to death. All she wanted to do was sit and take a breath but continued forward anyway. "Thanks for saving me."

"No problem." Kristoff looked at her, worried. He could tell she was trying to avoid everything that just happened so he didn't bother to ask any questions about it. He watched as Anna started to walk away. "Wait," he stopped her.

"What is it?" She faced him. Anna was a little confused why he wanted her to wait; as far as she remembered, he didn't care about having her around before.

"Where are you going? You seem shaky, you should try to get to a safe place and sit down for a while." he said.

"I have to find my sister." Anna replied.

"Then let me come with," he realized he sounded a bit forceful, but he didn't want her walking around on her own in this situation. "I was heading that way, anyway." he lied.

"..Okay." Anna accepted. Somehow it made her feel comfortable knowing someone would be with her.

"Also, take this." Kristoff walked up to her and handed her one of his manuever gear gas tanks after noticing hers were empty.

"Oh, I couldn't-" He already placed it in her hand. "Okay, then." Anna replaced her empty gas tank with the one Kristoff handed her. The two went off to go find Elsa and anyone else. It was a little awkward, but it will do.

The blue-eyed titan was still near Merida and Hiccup, but had yet to attack them. Merida tried to forget all about it and gave all her focus to keeping Hiccup alive. She almost forgot the titan was even there, until she heard another one heading in their direction.

The titan heading towards them held a familiar face; it was the same titan that killed Emma, Jack's little sister, five years ago. It didn't seem to notice Merida, but it did notice the blue-eyed titan near them due to it dashing right towards the on-coming titan in rage.

"Why? Why does this titan keep attacking other titans?" Merida kept asking herself. There was something different about it this time, it looked a lot more angry than before. Steam was coming off it's body. It dashed towards the other titan at full speed and punched it hard in the face, knocking it down.

The blue-eyed titan then tackled to other titan, both of them now being on the ground. The other titan took a few strikes at the blue-eyed titan as well, getting a good grip on its arm and nearly pulling it off, but the blue-eyed titan kept going at it no matter how much damage it took.

It was loud. The blue-eyed titan let out a booming roar. Merida was terrified. After a minute or two both the titans looked like they would die any second. They were beaten, missing limbs, one had no lower jaw anymore. It was a brutal but short battle and Merida saw all of it. She could only wish Hiccup was awake for this, he would probably be able to think of a plan to get away. He was always good at things like that.

The blue-eyed titan finally killed the other titan by ripping a chunk out of the back of its neck, then threw it at its body. The blue-eyed titan let out one last roar before slowly losing consciousness.

A tall man ran up to Merida. He looked a little dark and sketchy. "What happened here?!" he shouted before noticing Hiccup's condition. "Is he still alive."

Merida gave him a small nod. She was too scared and confused about everything that just happened to speak up. The man knelt down next to her and Hiccup.

"I'm Dr. Black. Pitch Black. I'm a Scientist. If you let me help you I can get your friend to medical assistance." He noticed a lot of steam filling the air and looked in the direction it was coming from; it was from the titans, their bodies were evaporating. There was something odd. Pitched noticed the silhouette of a boy where the blue-eyed titans body was evaporating. Pitch hardly looked confused. He looked as if he's seen this before. That boy came out of the blue-eyed titan's body.

Once some of the steam cleared up the body became recognizable. It was Jack. "Jack!" Merida shouted out to him, but he could hardly hear a thing. His ears were ringing and his head was pounding. "ugh.." he placed his hand on his head in agony.

Jack was barely able to open his eyes. He looked around and noticed he was surrounded by two titan bodies. "what.." it took a moment but he finally remembered what happened. He killed that titan, he WAS a titan. All the memories returning to Jack made him want to scream. It was like a terrible nightmare.

"Jack!" Merida shouted once more and he finally heard her this time.

Jack tried to stand up but his body was so sore it was unbearable. By now most of the steam cleared up and Jack looked over to the titan he killed and saw another body, a human body.

He managed to stand up and walked over to the body slowly. While walking over Jack's heart started pounding. The realization that this body was the owner of the titan he just killed. It was the body of the owner to the titan that killed his sister. He didn't just kill a titan, but a person as well. He almost didn't want to see who it was.

He got closer and the face became clear. It was Hans, and he was definitely dead. Jack's heart sank and his legs gave out, causing him to fall to his knees right before Hans' body.

"I killed him.. I-" so many things were going on in Jack's head. he wanted to scream. Then a bigger realization hit him. "I made friends..with the monster that killed my sister..." he didn't know how to feel anymore.

Everything around him seemed to disappear besides him and Hans's body. His head was spinning and his hands were shaking. He let out a scream. Tears almost fell from all the anger and rage built up in him.

Merida noticed the body next to Jack's. "Does that mean..All titans are..human?" she almost didn't want to know the answer.

"No." Pitch spoke up. "Now let's get your friend here some medical help."

"What about Jack?!"

"I think he needs time to himself."

While Pitch and Merida continued bickering back and forth for a short while, Jack was already walking towards them. He didn't want to see Hans or his titan body any longer. "Merida.." he said in a weak voice.

"Ah, Jack, you're-" Merida was interrupted.

"Where's Rapunzel?" Jack replied. He sounded so weak.

"I haven't seen her.. She said she was going to look for you a while back. I thought you two were together but I guess.." Merida started to get worried thinking of Rapunzel being off on her own.

Jack looked like he remembered something. "What is it?" Merida questioned.

"I know where she is." Jack replied.

"How? You've been here."

"She saw me die.." Jack's voice grew stern. "She's probably still in that same spot. She's probably scared and depressed to the point her body feels paralyzed and won't let her move.." Jack looked over to Hans and his decaying titan form. "I've been in the same place where someone I care about died before my eyes. It was like I lost all control over my body, I couldn't move. I didn't want to. I'd rather die than move from that spot."

"I'm sure someone helped her out by now." Pitch added in.

"She needs me!" Jack shouted before running off in the direction where he last saw Rapunzel. "I'll bring her back. Take Hiccup someplace safe." he demanded before he was out of sight.

Rapunzel wasn't the only one who needed Jack; Jack needed her as well. She is the only one who can calm him down without even saying a word. She helps him feel human. And what he needs most is to feel human again.

"You heard him." Merida gesture to Pitch.

Pitch got up and picked up Hiccup's body carefully, Merida helped out. "You know," Pitch started "that boy-"

"Jack." Merida interfered.

"Jack. After what he just went though, he should barely be able to move. It's incredible that he's able to get himself running like that. This girl, Rapunzel, must be very important."

"She is." Merida had a strong tone. "Why do you know so much about this?" she shook her head. "Never mind. We need to get Hiccup out of here."

Pitch kept quiet and they finally went off to get him some help.

Jack reached the place he last saw Rapunzel, and as he guessed, she was still there. Even from a distance her face looked lifeless. Her eyes red and puffy, like she's been crying for a while now. Jack walked up to her slowly.

"Punzie.." he whispered, not wanting to startle her.

Rapunzel didn't look. She thought she was hearing things; she's been hearing his voice in her head for a while after he died. "Rapunzel." Jack said a little more firm.

Rapunzel was almost too scared to look. He sounded so close, but she was scared her mind was playing cruel tricks on her. Eventually she slowly looked in direction of the voice and saw Jack kneeling beside her. "Hey." He said with a calming smile.

Rapunzel's already red eyes filled with tears. She reached out to touch his cheek to see if this was real, and sure enough, it was.

She let out a quiet sound of relief as tears rushed down her cheeks. Quickly she wrapped her arms around his shoulders, pulling herself close to him so she could feel his body against hers.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into a tight up, assuring her that all of this is real, that he's really here. "I missed you, too." he said softly.

Rapunzel let a quiet laugh slip between her sad breaths. Her tears didn't stop for a while, and neither of them wanted to let go of each other.

She didn't care how this happened, she was just happy that he was here. Jack didn't mind how sore his body felt. He just wanted Rapunzel to be okay.

They didn't have to say anything to one another to show how they felt in this moment. Their embrace said it all.

The hug went on for a while but for them it felt like no time at all. Edward came up to them after spotting them from a distance. "Hey." he said calmly.

Rapunzel wiped her tears away and turned to face Edward, her arms were still loosely wrapped around Jack.

"Everything's fine now. The hole was blocked and the military are currently taking down any titan trapped within the walls. We can all go back." Edward said confidently.

Rapunzel turned back to Jack with a big smile. "Did you hear that?"

"Yeah." Jack said, his smile reflecting hers. "We can go back now."

Jack and Rapunzel got up and walked beside Edward. The horrible day that felt like a lifetime of terror was finally over. Jack eventually told Rapunzel about Hiccup's current condition after she calmed down and the three began heading their way to Hiccup and Merida.

Chapter : So I realize it's probably not obvious who the red haired guy talking to Merida was, nor is his identity a secret. It was Axel from Kingdom Hearts. I added him in for Lexi, aha. And because I need a fire-related 'Disney' character for something in the future. Sorry if you were confused at all about his character.
