Evey

Evelynn opened her eyes. She stretched and rolled over in her bed to see that it was already 10:30 in the morning.

'Guess I over slept', she thought to herself. But something seemed off. 'why isn't the engine running?'

She got out of bed and slipped her orange Camp Half-Blood t-shirt over her tank top. She strapped her dagger to her side and left her room. She walked past Erika and Julia iris messaging at the conference table. On the other side she could see Leo and Dean smiling adorably at the girls. She was tempted to go over and ask them to get Curtis for her, but she had talked to him the night before.

She went up to the main deck to find Hannah and Jake at the helm. Hannah was looking over the map, while Jake played with the Wii controller like it was a sword.

"Hey? Guys," Evey said.

"Yeah?", they answered in unison. They both kinda blushed at that. Adorable.

"Why isn't the ship running?", Evelynn asked. "Don't we have a deadline?"

"We found Slayer and the cave a few days early", answered Hannah.

"So we have some time to figure stuff out and get our bearings", added Jake.

"So then are Jessy and Slayer sleeping in?" Evelynn asked Hannah.

"Noo", Hannah laughed. "They're walking around the little town we docked in. Jessy wanted to do some shopping".

"Shopping?" Evelynn was confused.

"Yeah I don't get it either", replied Hannah.

"You girls all ready to go?", called Jake from the steering wheel.

"We're just waiting on Jessy and Slayer", answered Evelynn. "Where are they we need to get going."

"I have no clue", laughed Alyssa.

"Hey evey! You have an iris message down here".

"kk be right there". Evey hurried down the stairs expecting to see Curtis in the iris bubble, Instead she saw Chiron.

"Chiron?".

"hello Evelynn my dear", he said.

"what's up", she replied.

"I just wanted to check in on you and make sure all was going well with your quest", said Chiron.

"aw you miss us", evey laughed. "well we hit a small bump in our plan-".

"a small bump?", Chiron asked a bit worriedly.

"it was just, you know… Jessy died", she stuttered out. Chiron's face went white. "But she's ok now! We found slayer and he brought her back".

"who is slayer?", asked Chiron.

"he's what we found in the cave from Alyssa's dream. He's a son of Thanatos", she answered.

"the son of Thanatos?", he asked. "but there can only be a child of Thanatos every millennia. If he really is then-".

"then what?", evey asked. Chiron was starting to freak her out a little

. "not important right now", Chiron replied quickly. "just focus on your quest for now".

"but Chiron what's-".

"goodbye my dear", he cut her off. With that the iris message turned to mist.

'what was that all about?', She thought to herself. "why did Chiron freak out?'.

The engine came to life and the hull of the ship hummed. Evey figured Jessy must be back so she headed up on deck with Erika and Julia. When she got on deck she saw Jessy and slayer talking with Hannah. Now she understood why Jessy wanted to go 'shopping'. Jessy's white hair now had pink, purple, and light blue streaks in the tips. She was wearing Slayer's white sweatshirt and he now had a new dark blue one that sort of matched his hair. Evey also saw something different about slayer. Did Jessy get him snake bites? She couldn't help but laugh and shake her head.

'that's what happens when you let her take you shopping', she laughed silently to herself.

Just before the ship could take off, something rammed the bottom of it. The ship shuttered as huge. Clawed, tenticals started to raise above the ship.

Evey heard Hannah yelling, "Jake get us out of here!".

Erika and Julia screamed and ducked as the tenticals started swinging around.

Alyssa yelled, "Evelynn look out!". But evey didn't realize what she meant until it was too late. One of the tenticals smacked into her shoulder, cutting her arm with its claws and sending her over the rail of the ship.

"evey!", she heard Jessy cry from the ship. The wind whistled in Evelynn's ears as she plummeted down towards the large body of the beast. Another tentical came around to hit her. At the last second she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist and pull her in.
