Slayer

Calm. That's what Slayer felt inside. Despite all that had happened in the last day. Especially the kraken attack, he no longer felt anxious and jumpy. He was completely calmed in the fact that Jessy had trusted him enough to send him to save one of her best friends from becoming kraken food. Only problem was, he was a bit too calm for not knowing where they were. And he knew that when Evelynn woke up and started talking to him, he'd start being shy and nervous all over again. But he didn't care. For now, the first time since being freed from his crystal prison, he felt calm.

Now, however, he needed a plan. He needed to think of a way off this deserted island, a way to prove to everyone that he could be a hero too, that he could be more than just another overly shy emo kid. He looked over at Evelynn sleeping by the campfire. The makeshift bandages were still holding tight to her wounds. Slayer had removed the kraken's claw from her shoulder, made some anti-venom out of honey, crushed vanilla beans, and eucalyptus, and spread it on some palm leaves. He knew she would be ok, but that didn't stop him from worrying. He got up and went over to check her bandages. He undid the knot in the leaves and pulled them away to check the front of her shoulder. The hole had closed up, and the skin around the wound was no longer a sickly grey color, but it was no doubt going to leave a scar. His touched her shoulder and she winced.

"Ow", she opened her eyes and looked over at him. "Um, hi".

"h-hi", yep right back to being shy.

"Where are we?" Evey asked him.

"Honestly, I have no clue", he told her. "Jessy shadow traveled me down to you mid fall, prayed to my father AND Hades for help, and woke up on this beach".

"Then what happened?" she actually seemed interested in what he was saying.

"Uh", slayer cleared his throat. "When I noticed you had a kraken claw in your shoulder. I gently took it out, made and anti-toxin, and bandaged you up. You seem to have recovered fully, though you're going to have a pretty badass scar".

Evey let out a little laugh, which allowed slayer to relax a little. She tried to sit up, but her shoulder was still a bit sore, so slayer helped her up.

"So", said Evey. "How do we get off an island when we don't even know where we are?"

"Not sure", he replied.

"Well what about an iris message?"

"I didn't have any coins, and I…I can't make a rainbow to save my life".

"Here let me", Evey reached in her pocket and felt around.

"Who are you going to call?" asked slayer. Evey walked over to where the beach met the ocean. She cupped some water in her hands, sucked it into her mouth, and spat it out in a mist though her teeth. She quickly tossed the coin in and said the usual offering thingy you have to say to iris so she'll send your message.

She turned to slayer. "My boyfriend".

About a half an hour later Evelynn's boyfriend Curtis, who was somehow able to find them, arrived. On a Pegasus. The guy freaking landed a pink haired Pegasus on the beach. And it still looked heroic. Evelynn made one of those little squeaky noises girls make and ran over to him. She jumped into his arms and he spun her around. Evelynn motioned for slayer to come over. She and Curtis hopped up on the Pegasus; slayer had a little trouble getting up.

"Everyone on?" asked Curtis.

"Yep", said Evey.

"Mhm", slayer mumbled.

"Alright then", said Curtis. "Let's go Fluttershy. Let's get back to the ship".

So much for being the hero and saving the day. He barely even had time to think of a plan. So much for showing everyone he could be a hero. He had a chance and now he was being saved by some other guy. A real hero. He feared that he might never be called a hero, always being saved by other people.

Always.

Slight confession: really the only reason I'm updating today is because Jessy has been on my butt about it for a while, but then kinda forgot that I hadn't updated. I was then kind of intelligent and brought up fanfic in a group facebook message between Evelynn, Jessy, and myself last night. Jessy chewed me out for not updating, and because I don't want any random demons she maybe hoarding, I updated. So ta-da! Two chapters!

Speaking of demons, do I have any Shadowhunters out there?! All of my friends have yet to read The Mortal Instruments so I have no one to fangirl with :/
