Chapter 5:
The next morning, Yuki woke up earlier than usual. He looked over at his alarm clock and saw that it was only 6:00am. He groaned and turned back over hoping to go back to sleep, but after 5 minutes of trying to get back to sleep he decided to get up and take a shower. He grabbed a towel from his closet and walked out at the same time that Kyo walked out of his room next door.
"Oh, Yuki…you're up earlier than usual," said Kyo sounding a bit nervous and surprised.
"Yeah…I couldn't get back to sleep," replied Yuki, feeling just as nervous. "But you're up early as well. What are you doing up so early?"
Kyo hesitated, "Well…I always wake up at this time so I can train before we go to school," he finally replied.
"Oh yeah…umm…do you mind if I join you? I have nothing better to do." Yuki was nervous as he said this, but he wanted to make up for all the years he was rude and uncaring about Kyo.
Kyo inhaled quietly and then let out a soft chuckle, "If that's what you want to do," he replied quietly. He turned his back and began walking downstairs. Yuki followed him, his stomach churning with uneasiness.
This is going to take some getting used to, he thought nervously to himself.
Kyo walked out of the house, towards the entrance to the woods. He looked back at Yuki, "I do a bit of running first. You can run with me. If you can," he smirked then started running.
Yuki smiled to himself and ran after Kyo, catching up with him. He was now running next to him. Kyo looked at Yuki, grinned, and then ran faster. Yuki laughed and tried to catch up with Kyo again, but he never ran in the woods before and tripped over a rock that was jutting out from the dirt. He fell face first onto the ground and just lay there for a few minutes.
"Yuki!" Kyo exclaimed. He turned around and ran back to where Yuki fell. Yuki slowly sat up and rubbed his forehead. "Are you alright, Yuki?"
"Yeah…fine," he muttered. He stood up on shaky legs and shook his head, "Well, that woke me up," he added to himself.
Kyo chuckled, "At least you didn't hurt yourself," he replied. "Come on. Let's head back." They headed back towards the house in silence. It was awkward between them, until Kyo finally broke the silence, "So, you went to visit the Feudal Era yesterday? Did you see Sango?" He asked.
Yuki smiled at the mention of his girlfriend, "Yes I did. When I first got there, Sango and Miroku were fighting. He was fondling her again and she slapped him. They both looked really surprised to see me," he replied.
Kyo smiled a bit, then it faded and he looked down at the ground, shuffling his feet, "A-and did you see Inuyasha as well?"
Yuki smiled knowingly, "Yes I did. He wasn't there when I first got there, though. Neither was Shippo or Kagome. They came a few minutes after I arrived while I was talking to Miroku, Sango, and Lady Kaede. They were arguing once again. Apparently Inuyasha tackled Kagome to get her out of harm's way and accidently put his hand on her breast. She freaked out at him," he explained, chuckling at the memory.
Kyo chuckled once before shuffling his feet again, "And did he…you know…ask about me at all?" he asked nervously.
Yuki smirked, "Yes. He asked me when you were going to go see him. I told him I wasn't sure. He seemed disappointed."
Kyo looked up at Yuki, a small smile forming on his face, "Really? He looked disappointed? Maybe I'll go see him after school today," he said to himself. "Hey, I have a question…are you planning on living in the feudal era?"
Yuki pursed his lips, thinking about this question, "I want to. Sango can't go through the well we went through for some reason and I want to stay with her. I probably will move over there, but after we graduate," he finally said.
They continued walking in silence and again it was Kyo who broke it, "Why do you want to finish school before going there? School will be pointless once you go there. It's not like there's any colleges in medieval Japan," he said.
"It's important to me to finish school. And plus I have my duties as the student council president, so I can't just up and leave without any explanation and leave Kakeru in charge."
Kyo shuddered at the mention of Yuki's vice-president. He knew Kakeru all to well. He was loud and obnoxious and almost too cheerful. He knew that with Kakeru in charge, the school would go downhill. In a way, Kakeru reminded Kyo of Ayame or Shigure and that was a scary thought.
They get to the outside of their home once again and Kyo stops. Without turning around, he says, "Hey…thank you for coming out with me this morning, Yuki. I really appreciate it. It wasn't so lonely today." His voice was quiet and nervous, almost as if he thinks that admitting that he's lonely was a sign of weakness.
"Well…we're friends now. Friends are always there for each other," Yuki replied just as quietly, looking away with a slight blush on his cheeks.
Kyo smiled to himself. Then he suddenly got an idea. "Hey, Yuki? Can you do me a favor?"
Yuki looked at Kyo, "That depends on what it is," he replies suspiciously.
"Will you fight me? Please?"
Yuki looked at Kyo in shock, "Why now?" he asked, a bit confused.
" I need to work on my fighting skills. I can't practice dodging or anything by myself."
Yuki sighs, "Fine, but only for a little bit. And you should go see Inuyasha sometime today," he said, I'm sure he's been too busy fighting demons to come here. And if he came here, it would cause quite the commotion."
"Yeah, I'll see him after school or something. Maybe I'll take Tohru with me and she can see that guy that she was hanging out with while we were there. Akitoki, or whatever his name was."
Yuki smiles, "Good. Alright, now let's get this fight started." He stood in a ready stance as Kyo charged after him. Yuki kept telling Kyo tips on how to be a better fighter.
"You're too reckless when you fight. You dive in without thinking about what you're doing and that's making you clumsy. When it comes to fighting, it's better to fight relying on your defensive instincts rather than relying on your brain. Now come at me again, but think about what your move will be before you act."
Kyo grunted and walked slowly around Yuki. Yuki watched his every move and prepared himself mentally for when Kyo finally attacked. Kyo ran towards Yuki again and threw a punch towards his face which Yuki dodged, but then Kyo did something that Yuki wasn't expecting. While he was dodging Kyo's punch, he didn't see his foot flying towards his stomach and because he was already off balance, when Kyo's foot came into contact with his stomach he flew backwards and landed on his back.
He got the wind knocked out of him and he lay there as he tried to catch his breath. He heard running feet towards him. "Yuki, are you okay?" asked Kyo, his crimson eyes full of concern.
Yuki shakily got to his feet, "Yeah, I'm fine. That was fast, Kyo. I didn't see that kick coming at all. You shouldn't be concerned about me. You should be celebrating. You're dream to beat me came true, did it not?" He smiled.
Kyo blinked slowly, processing what Yuki just said. Then his eyes widened and a big grin came onto his face. "I-I beat you? I beat you! After sixteen years, I finally beat you!"
"Heh…yes you did. Good job Kyo. Now, shall we work on your dodging?"
They continued fighting and Yuki continued to give Kyo tips. They fought until they heard Tohru's sweet voice calling them for breakfast. When they got into the dining room, Shigure was already there reading the newspaper. Kyo and Yuki sat down in their usual spots and Tohru gave them each a bowl of rice.
"Remember that Hatori wanted us to go to the Main House tonight, so don't make any plans," Shigure reminded them.
Kyo looked at him incredulously, "But I was going to go see Inuyasha after school!" he exclaimed.
"Go during school. You've never really liked school in the first place," replied Shigure, not looking up from the newspaper he was reading.
Tohru sweat dropped and smiled nervously while Yuki facepalmed, "You're our legal guardian, Shigure. You're not supposed to support skipping school."
"Eh, who cares? Aya and I always skipped school while we were in high school. It's no big deal," laughed Shigure.
Yuki sighed and started eating his food. Once they were done, he helped Tohru do the dishes, and then went upstairs to get his school uniform on. When he got back downstairs, Kyo and Tohru were by the door waiting for him. They said goodbye to Shigure then left. When they were outside, Kyo looked over at Yuki and Tohru.
"Hey, guys…could you cover for me after lunch? I will go see Inuyasha today and be back in time for the meeting at Sohma House," he said.
"So you'll be leaving at the beginning of lunch or after lunch?" Yuki questioned him.
"Probably the beginning of lunch," he replied.
"Fine, I'll cover for you, but make sure you're back on time. If you're not then I'll come to get you and bring you home," warned Yuki.
"Yeah yeah…" Kyo muttered. They continued walking in silence until they got to the school. They went to their first class and talked with their friends for a bit. Yuki started drifting out of the conversation and didn't hear someone come up from behind him until they had him in a headlock.
"Hey, Yun-Yun! You shouldn't be daydreaming like that!" exclaimed a loud voice close to Yuki's ear.
Yuki pulled away from the headlock and turned around to find himself face to face with Kakeru Manabe, "What are you doing on the Third-year floor, Kakeru?" he asked his friend.
"What? Am I not allowed to visit Yun-Yun before school starts?" he pouted.
"Stop calling me by that ridiculous nickname, Kakeru," Yuki growled.
Kakeru laughed good-naturedly, "Alright whatever you say, Princess," he grinned.
Kyo, who was sitting silently at his desk, walked over to Yuki, "What's going on over here?" he asked suspiciously. "What are you doing here, Kakeru? Class is about to start. You should be on your floor, not the third year's floor."
"Yeah I know. I just wanted to visit Yun-Yun. I'll go now. See you after school!" he called over his shoulder as he ran out of the class.
Yuki sighed, "I really hate it when he calls me that," he grumbled, mostly to himself.
Kyo looked at him, "Whatever you say… Yun-Yun," he smirked.
"Kyo! Please do not start calling me that! It's bad enough having Kimi and Kakeru calling me that," he whined at Kyo.
Kyo laughed, "Why? It's cute!" He dodged a punch that Yuki threw at him as he laughed. Though he and Yuki were friends, Kyo still enjoyed bugging him.
"And how would you like it if I started calling you 'Kyonkichi' like my brother?" he growled.
"Okay okay, I get it. I won't call you Yun-Yun," he chuckled. The bell rang at that moment and Kyo returned to his seat.
As the morning lessons continued going by slowly, Kyo found himself blocking out the lesson and thinking about Inuyasha. He couldn't wait to see his boyfriend again today. He was going to bring Tohru, but he figured that she wouldn't want to skip school because of the promise she made her mother.
"-yo? Kyo? KYO!" exclaimed the teacher. Kyo jumped and shook his head, turning his head to look at the teacher.
"Sorry," he muttered.
"Good, now that you're back with us, you can read the next few paragraphs of this chapter," she said sternly.
Kyo sighed and stood up, beginning to read. I guess I brought this on myself, he thought bitterly to himself.
Finally, lunch came around and Kyo was getting prepared to leave. As he walked outside, he heard the students around him whispering to each other.
"Who is that strange boy?" whispered one girl to her friend.
"I don't know, but look at his clothes. It looks like he walked out of a history book," said another girl.
"Look at those ears! He's so cute!" squealed a girl in Kyo's class. He remembered her name to be Minami.
Ears? Thought Kyo. He pushed through the crowd of mainly girls, trying his best not to touch them. When he got to the front, he saw what they were all staring at. Inuyasha was standing in front of the gates.
When Kyo and Inuyasha made eye contact, Inuyasha started walking towards him until he was right in front of him. "Hello, Kyo," muttered Inuyasha, his face bright red.
"Hi, Inuyasha," replied Kyo, his face just as red. "I was just on my way to see you."
"Well, I figured I would come pick you up and go with you. We can go through the well at Kagome's house." He took Kyo's hand and dragged him away. Kyo could feel the crowd's eyes watching him at the back of his neck, but he didn't care. He was with Inuyasha now, and that was all that mattered to him.
Hey, so I am soooo sorry about the late update! I keep getting writers block for this story! But you don't want to hear my excuses. I hope you guys like this chapter. As I was rereading it, I noticed that Kyo is a bit OOC and I'm sorry about that. The next chapter will be Kyo x Inuyasha lemon, so I'm looking forward to that! Hahaha! I'll try not to take so long to post the next chapter. Bye bye for now!
