4 days had passed since Inuyasha had asks Sango and Miroku to help him propose to Kagome. They of course didn't know what a proposal was but after some explaining Sango was doing her best to keep from screaming in joy as Miroku gave him that grin. So they help Inuyasha with ideas on what to do and maybe even do something nice and romantic for Kagome which after they had all figured out how and what to do. So after the usual 4 day walk they finally made it to the well, Inuyasha let Kagome go without much trouble and then once she was in her time on her way to school, Inuyasha began to put his plan in action.
First he went to get the ring from Totosai since Inuyasha had told him to make it and of course he had been working on it, promising him the ring would be ready on the exact day. Sango gave Kirara to Inuyasha and he had now arrived in front of the old coots cave. Inuyasha walk in side and sure enough there was Totosai…sleeping. Inuyasha felt a vein pop as he then brought his hand up and then bonk him awake on the head with his eyes budging out from being awaken in such a way.
"Oh, what th- oh its you Inuyasha what brings you here?" Totosai ask, Inuyasha 'ked' as he answered his question.
"I came for Kagome ring" Inuyasha said, it took Totosai a full minuet to remember what ring he was talking about.
"Oh that ring" Totosai said as he scratch his old head.
"Yes that ring, now where is it." Inuyasha said his voice lace with a promise of death in it if he didn't have the ring. Totosai stood up and walk over to some other small trinkets and such that he had made for other demons. He soon pulled out a beautiful ring and place it in Inuyasha hands.
"Here you go" Totosai said as Inuyasha took the ring and look at it to make sure it was perfect, which it was. "I believe this is probably one of the most beautiful pieces of jewelry I had made yet." Totosai said while Inuyasha put the ring in his fire rat coat.
"Thanks," Inuyasha said, Totosai smiled as he nodded.
"Any time Inuyasha," Totosai said as Inuyasha gave him a grin and then Totosai chuckled to himself.
"What's so funny?" Inuyasha ask, Totosai just shook his head as he answered.
"You remind me of your father, when he was going to ask your mother to be his mate" Inuyasha was slightly surprised by this statement, he herd many times from Myoga and Totosai that he look a lot like his mother and acted like his father in a way and it just surprised him. I mean like a half demon acts like the Great Inutashiou a full fledge and fear full demon.
"Ked whatever" Inuyasha said but Totosai knew Inuyasha was both surprised and in a way happy. Inuyasha then turn towards the entrance of the cave and began to walk away, but not before stopping at the entrance.
"Thanks Totosai" Inuyasha said causing Totosai to look completely surprise.
"Did you just thank me…..and said my name?" Totosai ask not trusting his old hear and age Inuyasha just snorted.
"Like I'm going to say or even admit that" and with that Inuyasha left with a big smile on Totosai face as Inuyasha did the same.
Inuyasha then boarded on Kirara back and they were off again, they made it to Sango's and Miroku hut which they had just finish making a few days ago, once Inuyasha drop off Kirara he went on running to his next destination. He ran until he made it to the well and jump through it, he pass through the familiar blue and pink lights. Once on the other side he jump up out of the well and well house and went straight to the regular house. He snuck in with out any one noticing him as he made his way to the basement. He had been exploring there much earlier when he had been waiting for Kagome to finish those stupid test and school. He looked through all the stuff until he found what he was looking for, it was a brown picnic basket with a traditional red and white checker board blanket. He took the basket and the blanket then ran up stairs out of the basement and carefully into the basement which was thankfully empty. He went to the refrigerator and opened it, with his great and slightly above average memory he was able to remember what he was suppose to get. Once he got all of the ingredients and things Sango had told him to get he packed it all into the basket. With that done he then ran out of the house mission impossible style and he was soon going through the well without anyone there to witness or to ever guess he was there.
On the other side he ran straight back to Sango's and Miroku's hut, he walk inside to see Sango cleaning her Hirikotsu. When she look up, she stop cleaning and put her Hirikotsu to the side as Inuyasha walk up and handed her the basket.
"Is that everything?" She asked Inuyasha nodded, Sango smiled as she then began to dig into the food he brought. She began to take out al of the ingredients and make some real food out of the stuff as Inuyasha sat there watching her and waiting for a certain monk to show up. Not 5 minuets later did Inuyasha felt the monks hand on his shoulder he turned around to see him standing there with a serious face.
"Ready to go?" Miroku ask, Inuyasha nodded which caught Sango attention.
"What are you 2 talking about?" Sango ask, they began to walk out as Miroku gave her his answer.
"Some training" Miroku simply answered, Sango gave him a hard glare before yelling something to him.
"If Kagome refuses Inuyasha proposal and it's because of your training you will die monk" Sango said as she continued to make the food, a visible shiver went down Miroku's back as he nodded to his wife before turning to Inuyasha and they continued to their agreed training place. Once there they stop and Miroku turn to Inuyasha with one of the most serious faces he had.
"Are you ready Inuyasha?" Inuyasha nodded his head with an equally serious face.
"Alright, let's begin your training, first you must get out the ring" Miroku said, Inuyasha nodded as he pulled out his ring Totosai had made him and held it in a grip in his fist.
"Let's do this"
HOURS LATER
Sango had finish putting the last finishing touches without eating any of the tempting food, she turned her head to just see Inuyasha and Miroku walking into the room and they seemed to be a little tired but Inuyasha still look as confident as he was getting.
"The dinner ready" Sango said holding up the basket, Inuyasha smiled as reliefs also showed on his face.
"Okay then, Inuyasha you better go to Kagome time, according to her watch its time to pick her up." Miroku said, Inuyasha nodded, but also still look worried.
"Don't worry Inuyasha" Sango said "Well set every thing up and I'll make sure nothing get mess up okay?" Sango ask, Inuyasha then nodded as he took a big breath.
"Remember to bring her here at 6:00 okay?" Miroku ask as he then tried to push Inuyasha out the door.
"Alright, alright I will" Inuyasha said as he then made his way to Kagome time. Once through the well he ran out and began to run to her school pulling out the same blue bandana again and tied it on his head and ran his way to her. Soon there he waited until Kagome came out with a smile.
"Inuyasha" Kagome said with happiness, Inuyasha smiled a little as they shared a small embrace. Then Inuyasha pick up Kagome bridal style and ran back to her house which included jumping from building to building. Soon they made it to Kagome house and as usual they had Kagome large snack and she began to work on her home work while Inuyasha sat on her bed keeping an eye on her clock waiting for 6:00. A few hours later the clock finally struck 6:00, Inuyasha then got up and pick up Kagome unexpectedly.
"Inuyasha what are you doing?" She ask, Inuyasha just went to her window open it and jump out.
"I want to show you something" He said now entering the well house, Kagome began to get angry.
"Inuyasha! I have work to do, can't this wait later?" She ask, Inuyasha also began to get annoyed.
"Just quiet, it's something special." Inuyasha said, which immediately shut Kagome up.
'Something special' Kagome thought as she was now wondering what Inuyasha wanted to show her. Now in the feudal era Inuyasha jumped out of the well and began to make his way to the sacred tree, now they both stood in front of it. Inuyasha sat Kagome down as she look at the tree with a frown.
"Where's the surprise?" She ask, Inuyasha just pointed to the base of the tree, Kagome now look down and gasp as she now saw the surprise.
There right in front of the sacred tree was a picnic. It had a red and white checker board cloth, a picnic basket with a vase filled with beautiful flowers on it, and 2 cups (no whine cause Kagome is pregnant) ready to be filled with whatever they chose.
"Oh Inuyasha" Kagome said as she then gave him a big hug with her arms around his neck and every thing. "Its beautiful, thank you" Inuyasha was now blushing but nodded as he hugged her back. The 2 walk over to the picnic and sat down near the basket. Inuyasha brought the basket closer to him and open it up, he pulled out what Kagome called 'paper plates' and began to fill them with delicious food. Kagome was surprise when Inuyasha handed her a plate full of a turkey sandwich and potato chips which was look really good right now. Inuyasha pulled out a similar dish for himself and they both continued to eat, Inuyasha getting nervous by the second trying to decide when it would be the perfect time propose.
Half of him said to do it now, and the other half told him to wait a little longer, but then he herd a noise. It wasn't a threatening noise, he knew who it was and now felt more embarrasses about what he was going to ask. In a near by bush was Miroku, Sango, and Shippo watching them.
Sango had originally been against this, but Miroku had persuaded her it was only fair that since the 2 of them saw him propose to her they could see Inuyasha propose to Kagome, and without telling him they were going to spy on them he couldn't threaten them without making it look suspicious. So there they sat watching the half demon struggle on when to propose to Kagome.
Kagome was getting rather concern for Inuyasha, he look so nervous and look like he wasn't even paying attention to her.
"Inuyasha, is every okay, you don't look so good" Kagome ask, Inuyasha brought out of what every thought he was having as he answered.
"Ked, I'm fine" He said maybe a little too harsh, which got Kagome a little mad, and with mood swings beginning to take effect it was no surprise.
"Well sorry for being concern, jerk" She mutter, Inuyasha then felt his anger get the best of him and instead of letting it go….
"I'm not a jerk, is it too much for me to think and not be interrupted" He snap back, now regretting it.
"Since when do you think, you look confuse and I was worried" Kagome now yelled back, and before you know it the 2 went into one of their very well known many fights.
Miroku, Sango, and Shippo look at the 2 with sympathy, having a fight before asking the girl you love to marry you isn't the best way to get a yes.
Inuyasha and Kagome fight was getting a little heated as they yelled.
"Well then tell me what you were thinking when I interrupted you that was important enough to be a jerk to me" Kagome screech, Inuyasha logical side of his brain was fog by rage and so the next thing he said he had no control over.
"Because I'm trying to think when I should propose to you!" Inuyasha hand that gain a mind of its own went to Inuyasha mouth and covered it, stopping any speech in hopes that Kagome didn't hear him, but it was all in vein.
Kagome heated gaze was cooled in surprise at what Inuyasha said, earning herself a small gasp as well, not at all expecting that to happen.
"Inuyasha…." Kagome said, it was the proof to Inuyasha now cleared logical side of mind that Kagome had indeed herd what he said, so he sigh as he muttered 'screw it' and now bent down on one knee in front of Kagome (they had stood up some where it their fight).
Kagome gasp again as Inuyasha took her hand and held it in his as he took a deep breath and said the words he needed to say.
"Look Kagome, I know we're already mates and already have a bond stronger than any ceremony would ever come close to the bond between 2 mates. But I still want people in both human and demon terms to know you're mine." Inuyasha took a deep breath "So I'm trying to ask is, will you marry me" and at that moment Inuyasha reach into his robe pulled out a the beautiful ring Totosai had given him.
The ring was truly beautiful, it had a gold band with a ruby red emerald in the center of it. The emerald was in the shape of a heart with a cresset moon in the middle made out of diamond, all around the golden band that held the emerald were beautiful diamond designs all around it. Kagome couldn't anything but gasp at the beautiful ring. She felt so happy tears of joy were in her eyes, but however Inuyasha began to automatically began to worry he did something wrong.
"Kagome what wrong, are you okay?" Inuyasha ask, now standing up and looking her over, Kagome shook her head.
"Now Inuyasha, it just the ring…." Kagome said, trying to find a word to describe the ring, Inuyasha however began to take it the wrong way again.
"I'm sorry Kagome, I can get you a better one if you want" Inuyasha said, now realizing that Kagome hated the ring. Inuyasha now thought of ways he would torture Totosai for making such a horrible ring that it made Kagome cry.
"What no Inuyasha, the ring is unbelievable, I never saw anything like it, I love it" Kagome said quickly now standing on her tipi toes to kiss him on the lips filled with appreciation and love. Inuyasha kiss back before he look down a smiled at his now fiancé is what he herd Souta call a person who was engage to another.
Kagome the held out her left hand to Inuyasha, Inuyasha look at it curiously before he remembered what he was suppose to do. Giving himself a mental kick in the butt, Inuyasha pulled out the ring and placed it on Kagome finger. Kagome look at the ring in close exception, until she turned it around and saw, in diamond letters a shade of light purple were the words:
Inuyasha and Kagome forever
Kagome smile brighten as she then gave him another kiss as in to seal the deal.
"Can we come out now" ask an innocent Shippo to the 2, Kagome blush 20 new shades of red as Inuyasha did the same. The others took that as a sign of 'yes' and all came out. Sango was jumping with joy for Kagome, Miroku had a certain grin for Inuyasha, and Shippo was happy because his mother was happy.
"Oh my god Kagome I'm so happy for you" Sango screamed as she ran over to Kagome and gave her as good as she could do hug to Kagome. Kagome was now smiling and hugging Sango back with just as much enthusiasm.
"Well Inuyasha, I never knew you had it in you" Miroku said slapping him on the back, causing a small warning growl from Inuyasha.
"Yaa, that means a wedding, which means cake!" Shippo yelled, happy to know that another one of his favorite treats were going to be there.
The group of friends then celebrated by finishing off the picnic that surprisingly had enough for all of them, including desert, and they spent the time planning about the wedding.
