19. Caso Cerrado (Case Closed)
After her father was taken away in an ambulancia to el hospital downtown. She wraps her arms around herself; she had a mixture of anger and guilt inside her. Many thoughts went thru her head, she was even having 2nd thought about this for the safety of her brother and her people. If Rojillo was capable of doing bad things in the past, she couldn't imagine what he'll do know that his hijo & hija want to put his in jail for his crimes. Oh, why was this so difficult for her? To her, she wouldn't hesitate in exposing him for who he is but she had to think about what Guillermo's point of view on this. She knew he wanted justicia but she wanted venganza, 2 complete different things. Plus, there was also her plans as her outlaw self she didn't want him to know yet. She wished she could come clean, to tell him the entire truth after the death of their mother but she feared he would think the worst of her, as if she was un monstruo. No, he could never know, not now that she's come this far. She just hopes that this revenge doesn't end up destroying herself and those she love too.
She continue to walk the cement pavement across her majestic garden, mainly filled with red roses, red tulips and white orchids, it surrounded by so much vegetation and walking pass the beautiful fountains in every corner. There was even a stunning gazebo at the end of the path which is where she was heading. The gazebo was wrapped around with roses.
As she walks up the steps the gazebo, a rare white flower falls on the first step, giving her a small shock. She was confused of from where this rose came from since she didn't have any white roses rowing in her. She picks it up and observes it, it was una Orquidea De Flecha De Cupid*. (A/N: Hmm? Let's see? What flower is this? Maybe it was from the movie..? Could it be the Cupid's Arrow's Orchid?)
"You know, una mujer tan bella like you shouldn't be out walking alone" a familiar voice says.
She knew that voice all too well. She looks up and smiles. It was her hombre. Her Zorro, up in the tree, smirking down at her. How did he get in without getting noticed in the daylight, those are secrets and strategies she still needed to know and understand. Gnoméo was wearing his Zorro assemble but only without his mask, just for her. But one can't be too careful.
Gnoméo careful climbed up the tree and landed in front of her with the white Orchid in his hands, handing it to her.
"And you need to stop coming in places you shouldn't be" she teases.
"I know but I still do it" he flirts, pulling her tight in his arms.
"You're so loco, Zorro" she wraps her arms around his neck.
"I get that a lot but only for you" He chuckles, making Julieta giggles as he pulls her for a passionate kiss until they were interrupted.
"Julieta?!" a voice cried.
The couple breaks apart. Julieta gasps by the sights of her brother, coming into the garden "Oh no! Willy! You have to go before he sees you" Julieta lightly pushes away but it was too late.
"JULIETA!" Guillermo races down the pavement, fearing his sister was in danger by the dark bandit. To her surprise, Guillermo takes out a gun from his jacket and aim at Gnoméo.
Julieta quickly jumps in front of him, keeping him away from Gnoméo. "Willy! NO, it's not what you think!" she cries, fearing they would fight.
"Who is he?! I demand you tell me!" Guillermo shouts, furious, still pointing at Gnoméo who now was holding his own gun, pointing it at Guillermo.
"Willy, por favor, calm down and let me explain..." she says calmly as possible
Guillermo sighs and lowers his gun "Ok, fresita, only because it's you, I won't call los guardians to arrest this demonio"
"Hey, watch your words, imbecile!" Gnoméo snaps in anger but Julieta stops him.
"No, Gnoméo, calm down" she pleads and he too lowers his gun.
"Who is he, Julieta?!" Willy snaps again.
"I would like to know that same thing, Julieta. HABLA! Don't stay quiet and tell me!" Gnoméo snaps too with the 2 men glaring at each other
"Ok, Willy, remember when I mention you I was helping El Zorro, a masked thief that's been helping serve el pueblo?" she asks her brother.
"Si. Y?" Willy shrugs, still confused.
"Well, Willy, I present to you El Zorro, who is also el amor de mi vida" she confesses.
"You're in love with un bandido?" he asks, slightly shocked.
"I know I should have told you but if you let me explain later, I promise to tell you how it all began"
"Esta bien, Julieta" Willy nods and lowers his gun.
"Y Zorro, this is Guillermo Rojillo, mi hermano mayor" she confesses.
"Hermano? You never told me you have a brother, Julieta" Gnoméo says, confused.
"It's a long story which I will explain later" she then turns back at Guillermo. "Willy, trust me, I'm fine, I know what I'm doing. He won't hurt me"
"Well, ok, Julieta. I trust you. But if you need anything, just call me"
"No te preocupes, (don't worry) he's just here to talk, nothing else" she says, calmly
"Bueno, I just came to tell you that they've taken him already. It looks like he had un infarto" (heart attack)
"Willy, tell los medicos(doctors) to not charge so much for his recovery because his accounts have been frozen and only we will have to pay for his recovery. And that desgraciado is not going to escape easily out of his punishment. I want him to suffer every single of the days he has left"
"I've never seen you like this, Julieta. With too much odio & furia inside you. It's like I don't know you"
"There are things you still don't know about me, Willy but when the time comes I'll have tiempo to explain. And after everything nuestro padre has done to us, I can't contain mi odio much longer"
Guillermo then holds her hands "It'll be ok, fresita. We'll get thru this juntos"
"I did promise you a better vida, mi Willy and this is only the beginning" she smiles and hugs her brother and then watches him go, leaving her and her Zorro alone again.
"Are you in any mood to explain about the sibling who almost killed me?" Gnoméo smirks.
"No. But maybe you should be much careful next time" Julieta smiles, teasing.
"But it's a good thing nobody serious was around"
"Por que? What if Willy would have called on you?"
"I wasn't worried because I knew you were here to save me as usual"
"Well, you were lucky this time"
"And I could always rely on you. But I could never let anyone get in my way of seeing la bella princesa of San Verona" he kisses her hand. But then pulls her in his arms, making Julieta gasp and squeal by his sudden move, kissing her lips and her neck.
"No, no, Gnoméo, not here, Willy or anyone could see us!" she pushes him away, giggling.
"Let them see, let them know that la princesa Rojillo has an affair with el bandito most wanted around" he flirts with a smirks.
"Take this serious, Gnoméo!" she playfully slaps his arm.
"Just stay here with me, all night" he pleads with a twinkle in his eyes that made it hard for Julieta to refuse until she accepted.
Julieta spent the entire evening together, having a small romantic dinner in the gazebo with candlelight and rare bubbly Champaign. Lucky, for Gnoméo, there was no one around and he brought a small radio to play some musica while they ate. Soon came up one of her favourite songs by one her all time favourite male singers.
"(Sighs) That David Bisbal is so dreamy" Julieta said in a dreamy tone. By seeing how she loved the song, Gnoméo stood up from his seat. (A/N: David Bisbal- MY FAVORITE SINGER FROM SPAIN, ironic, huh? & he IS dreamy!)
"Bailamos?" (we dance) Gnoméo pulls her fast into his arms and they swiftly began to dance across the pavement, twirling her around, making her giggle.
"I never said si" she teases.
"But I take your silencio for your answer"
"I shouldn't be dancing with you"
"No? Why not? You were expecting someone else?"
Julieta scoffs with laughter "No"
"You had other plans? Or decided to go riding in the mountains?"
"I have no plans, Gnoméo"
"No, wait, I get it now. You're worried about tu papa" he says, spinning her around & smiling
"Normally I would say si but this time I'm not. I'm just feliz you're here after a long complicated dia"
"It's worth climbing those rough tall walls to get to you" he kisses her lips and she gives in. It felt like minutes of kissing him but she would care. It was he who pulled to speak
Gnoméo smirks as he magically pulls out the white Orchid from earlier, hanging it to her "Una flor that's been stolen is worth a bouquet that's been bought" he says, poetically. (flor: flower)
Julieta blushes hard as she takes it, getting a smirk from him as he spoke again. "I also came to get un si from you. Will I get it?" he smirks.
Julieta blushes as she sniffs the white rose's heavenly aroma, she felt mariposas in her tummy. She couldn't be more in love with this masked thief who's stolen her Corazon from the first encounter. She re-opens her eyes, seeing that he was waiting for her answer. She smiles at him but felt bad by what she will say next.
"No"
Gnoméo 's smile drops. Julieta slowly pulls away from his embrace and walks down the pavement to the mansion. She looks back at him, seeing him frozen with his disappointed frown. Julieta enters the mansion and sighs sadly. She didn't mean to hurt him but there are some things right now she didn't want to tell him and didn't want him getting mixed up in.
"Ay, perdon, mi amor. But right now, our mundos can't be united" she says softly, as she frowns down at the rose as she walks up the grand staircase to her room.
(Same night, Rojillo Mansion)
As she heard the crickets softly chirping and the fireflies glowing over her garden, Julieta was in her white nightgown with her brunette hair down as she smiles uncontrollably to the white orquidea her beloved Zorro has given her this afternoon. She walks across her balcony, being surrounded by the leaves and weeds that covered the railing and columns. The cool breeze lightly pushes her hair back but nothing could break her in-love smile.
"Looking for me?" a velvet voice she heard.
La princesa was lightly startled but then looks down to her garden and smiles by the sight of her Zorro again, sitting on a bank near her fountain. He was still here! She still didn't know how he manages to break in without nobody noticing. Unlike this afternoon, Gnoméo was wearing a casual but elegant suit with white shirt and black jacket and pants. His golden blonde hair was comb perfectly and his smile and blue eyes sparkled like estrellas. No matter what he wore, he was her principe azul.
"What are you doing down there?" she asks, as she leans on the railing to see him better. She felt her cheeks blush as the color of her lips.
Gnoméo stands up and runs to the bottom of her balcony where there was a ladder, covered in leaves and weeds but he doesn't mind as he started climbing it to get to her. One he got to the top, he held on to the railings to not fall off but didn't kept his eyes off her.
"Waiting for you to come out" he responds, making her smile and bush harder. "And waiting for your answer. I hope it doesn't take long" he smirks.
Julieta tries to hide her blush behind the white rose as she thought about his little "invitacion" until she made up her mind.
"No" she answers.
Gnoméo gets confused as at the same time a little hurt. "No as in I won't wait long for your answer or no as in you're refusing me again?" he asks, teasing.
"Si. I accept tu invitacion"
"Hey, this isn't hard to decide. It's not like I'm asking you matrimonio... yet" he winks as she giggles/blushes again.
While still holding on to the railings, Gnoméo leans down to kiss her but Julieta giggles as she uses the white orquidea to block him from her red lips. He opens his eyes, seeing what she was doing. Julieta smiles wide with the rose against her nose as she slowly backs away from him, going back into her room, without taking her eyes of him. Gnoméo hops onto the balcony and follows her but Julieta slowly closes her door and her curtains, playfully preventing him to enter. He could see her face that she was playing hard to get with him and he loved that. It only made him want her more.
"Too bad, preciosa" Gnoméo sighs, in love.
By hearing this, Julieta opens her doors again and welcomes him with a passionate kiss as she lets him into her bedroom where they had the most passionate noche of their lives. At first it was just a few soft kisses on her lips and her cheeks, wanting to feel her first as she maintain her eyes closed, feeling like she's melting by his touch. She lets herself go in her arms as Gnoméo slowly takes off her nightgown as it drops to the ground, revealing her matching red bra & knickers. El Zorro pulled her even closer, caressing her thin curvy body as his hands went from her thighs and up her chest all the way to her face to get lost in another passionate kiss.
No matter how many times he's been with her, Gnoméo still couldn't get over how breath-taking beautiful she is. He looks at her and she takes away his breath. And she looks at him, his Corazon jumps, like it only has 1 pulse. He loved how her body and his closed the gap between them. He couldn't control himself anymore. Esta noche, he vowed to protect her forever by making her his all over again.
(Next morning, Royal Court House)
Rumours were being heard from every corner of the town, it was busy and historic day for the people of San Verona. Hoy was the trial of their ex-formal governador, Don Rojilo. Reporters from very country of Europa, especially from the capital of Madrid were buzzing around, trying to get a scoop of the drama. They mobbed his nephew and children to get them to answer their questions about their guardian but none of them would answer. Maybe cause they were ashamed of him or didn't want to get involved with Rojillo's crimes. While the jury was getting set and ready to start the case, the audience waited outside the office, having small talk with a few of the most important people in Spain.
Guillermo Rojillo soon interrupted his sister's conversation with an ambassador. He was worried about this trial, especially for her safety.
"You're a traitor, Willy & Julieta. You guys are actually going thru with this and not being on the side of el hombre who is su padre?" Teobaldo says, trying to manipulate them.
"Si, Teobaldo. And you should do the same" Willy states.
"Que? Are you assuming I'm a criminal by supporting mi tio?"
"It's what you're doing by showing up here to support him!"
"Because he's being accused of unfair crimes! This all a set up against him! But by el caprichito you have for Julieta's words is blinding you!" Teobaldo snaps. (capricho: obsession)
"Teobaldo! I will not let you insult her...!" Willy steps in.
"Willy, Willy, let him be and say what he wants" Julieta steps in, pulling on her brother's arm, to prevent a fight between them.
"You don't have to defend me from mi primo, mocosa"
"No, no, I didn't do for you, Teobaldo. I did it for Willy, for him and the place we're standing in"
Teobaldo scoffs with a small laugh "O si, like if it was una iglesia! I don't see what's so special about this place? When it's being used to stay the reputacion of un hombre justo like Don Rojillo"
Then Julieta scoffs "Justo? Ha, precisely my point, Teo. Here is where real justice and la ley is being form. And maybe it's time for you to respect its limits cause this is where you might end up too if you keep this up"
"What ley are you talking about? The one you're buying so you can destroy tu padre?"
"Teobaldo, por favor, that's enough!"
"And why are you defending this mujer who just insulted me!? Eres un ingrato!"
Then Don Rojillo's lawyer, who Teobaldo hired step in to prevent a fight. "Calm down, Sr. Rojillo. This isn't the place!" he says and Teobaldo leaves to talk to some paparazzi at the entrance.
Guillermo looks at his sister, noticing her worried eyes "It's going to ok, I promise" he says, getting a smile out of her and walking away to talk to the press.
Julieta stood on place, lost in her thought about what will happen today until she was interrupted by somebody tapping on her shoulder. She turns and smiles, it was her Zorro without his mask or get up.
"I suggest you stay away from him"
"You mean, Willy?"
"No, Teobaldo. I don't want you near him or talking to him"
"Esta bien" she nods.
"He's dangerous. He's capable of hurting you again"
Suddenly, a group of reporters came running in "Srta. Julieta! Srta. Julieta!" they all exclaim, starting to crown her.
But Gnoméo step in front of her, protectively "Whoa, whoa, atras, back!" he shouts, as they step back.
"It's ok, Gnoméo" she says, to allow the press to approach her.
"Srta. Julieta, what does it feel like to be for you and su hermano locked away by your own padre?" a female reporter asked.
"I don't know was it for mi hermano, horrible, I have no doubt. But my locked down was eternal and lonely since mi padre only saw me as una flor delicada or a merchandise you can sell" Julieta answers with a slightly sad tone.
It was a few minutes of asking and answering questions to the press until a guard from inside the court room came out "Damas & Caballeros, you may now enter the room, the trial is about to begin" he says.
Julieta looks at Gnoméo with a worried face and he hugs her for support and she appreciate it. She also loved having her body smashed against his but now was not the time to show any affection since nobody, not even his familia knew about their secret relacion. Once they broke apart, Julieta walked in the room with her brother as the audience and the jury took their seats. . Inside it was like any court room but only smaller and with a lot of plants. The jury was ready, the air was cold and the crowd arise up for the presence of the judge coming in the room.
"All rise for the Honorable judge, Dra. Anna Maria Polo" the bailiff said
Every single person in the room stood up as la doctora & judge Ana Maria Polo sat down on the high chair "Sit down, por favor" she said and then sat back down as the judge was reading the documents of the case.
"We will begging the case of the ex-governador, Don Rojillo. By the acusations of kidnap and murder of Marina Carrasco, robberies of lands & the physical and mental abuse of Guillermo & Julieta Rojillo, who is here to represent her case by her own hermano" she declares
Don Rojillo was already on the stands to declare. He was bit nervous but kept his nervousness side, the thought of losing and being sentence to jail terrified him.
"Por favor, raise your right hand" a lawyer said and Don Rojillo did what he was told, he raise his right hand "Do you swear to tell la verdad, but la verdad and only la verdad under any circumstances? The lawyer asked.
"I do" Rojillo said and sat down on the chair.
"Sr. Rojillo, knowing you are under juramento, and if you lie, you will be sentence for a grave punishment than your original if you're found guilty. So, I ask, how do you find youself? Culpable or Inocente of the charges?" Dra. Polo asked.
Don Rojillo at the audience as they all stair at him, waiting for his obvious answer. He looks over at the plaintiffs table where his children were seated. Out of everybody, they were concern and worried of what he might say by knowing how diabolico Rojillo is. Julieta send him a deadly glare which made Rojillo nervous but most of all angry since she was the main reason of why he was here. Rojillo remembers of all those times he's cruelly mistreated her, but never regretted. Julieta was a spitting image of her mother, a tramp he's hated for a long tiempo, even after they were married. And just by looking at his hija, he remembers Marina and it made his sick.
"I repeat the question, Sr. Rojillo. How do you find yourself, culpable (guilty) or inocente of the charges?" Dra. Polo asked again.
Don Rojillo took a deep breath and finally spoke "Inocente"
Gasps and murmurs were heard in the audience, the majority was doubting his answer.
Julieta was boiling furious. She stood up from her seat "Sinico! Mentirosos! Cobarde! Desgraciado!" she screamed in pure anger, urging to kill.
"SILENCIO!" Dra. Polo bangs her mallet. "Abogado Rojillo, I suggest you calm down your defendant in my court room"
"Lo siento, doctora, it will not happen again" Guillermo says as he sits and calms down Julieta. "Julieta, tranquila, you need to calm down and leave this to me. It will be your time to declare soon"
"It's just that I can't control myself. It's terrible for me to see him act like his the victim, to act like he's inocente"
"I completely understand but that's why we're here, to judge him"
"Abogado Guillermo Rojillo, you may begin your case" Dra. Polo said with a hand gesture.
But then Don Rojillo interrupts "Dra Polo, with all due respect, el abogado (lawyer) Guillermo Rojillo cannot represent his case against me"
"Of course I can!" Willy states, serious.
"It's absurd, Doctora, this is a complot between hermano & hermana to leave me with nothing" Rojillo complains.
"With nothing you left me! I lost 10 años of mi madre & mi hermano!"Julieta shouts, standing up from her seat.
"Order! Orden in the court!" Dra. Polo bags her gable again to get silence again. "Srta. Rojillo, wait for your turn to declare. You may continue, abogado" she turns to Guillermo and listens.
Guillermo clears his throat to speak the greatest case of his career "People of the jury, mi nombre es GuillermoRojillo, lawyer and ex-judge in the capital of Madrid. But I quit my post as judge the moment I heard mi hermana was in danger by my own padre. I started investigating all the clue and crimes she's told me and unfortunately, I've found evidence that they're true and I will present them here for you. I'm here to present mi hermana & me by the miserable childhood we both had that this hombre made us live thru. He ripped us apart after mi madre died and separated us almost 10 años ago. And if separating us wasn't painfully enough, he's order to kill our madre, just to keep her fortuna by law" he declares, serious as the jury start to mumble as he continue.
"And this mujer right here" he points at Julieta "She's been physical and mentally abused as I was by this man and I couldn't do a thing to protect her because Don Rojillo has locked me somewhere , without any contact with el mundo and even tried to have me killed.
Guillermo then turns to his father, glaring "Tell me, Sr. Rojillo, how you declare yourself of the charges? Culpable or inocente?" he asks in a low tone.
Rojillo looks around his area, trying to hide her dear "Inocente" he lies.
Guillermo lets out a scoff "Por supuesto, inocente like his accomplices. Until this day, you are no longer on trusted of the safety and ruling of this pueblo. Because la vida of this hombre is involved with any crimes for years because Don Rojillo has complices, contacts and deals with the foreign..."
"Abogado Rojillo, I'm going to ask you put away the emotional show and get to the point of your case" Dra. Polo interrupts.
"The first evidence I'm going to show today are from the death of mi madre, Marina Carrasco. I've learn from resources and mi hermana, the last time she saw her was when she was only una niña and got cruelly murder by some criminals who were order by Don Rojillo just so he can keep her rights by law. So, people of the jury, I want you to see the injustice this hombre has done to her and many other innocents over almost 15 años. I rest my case, su señoria" Guillermo finishes.
"Gracias, abogado. I call to the stand la señorito Julieta Isabel Rojillo" Dra. Polo calls.
Julieta picks up her dress and makes her way up to the stand. She had a serious face mixed with confusion and sadness. Her brother was mouthing her that everything will be fine and to just tell the truth. She even saw Gnomeo in the audience, he sends her a small smile and it made her feel better and ready to declare against her afther.
"Please, raise your right hand" a lawyer said and Julieta raise her right hand "Do you swear to tell la verdad, but la verdad and only la verdad under any circumstances? The lawyer gnome asked.
"I do" Julieta vows and sat down on the chair. Guillermo stands up from his seat walks up to her.
"Srta. Rojillo, tell us about your infancia when you were una niña" he says.
"I had una Hermosa vida with mi madre. Along with my mistress, Sra. Nanette, she was the only one I had. Mi madre and mi padre met when mi padre was beginning his political career for governador. He knew how to seduce her until mi madre was blindly in love with him but all he wanted from her was her fortuna and contacts from mis abuelos. From what I've always seen, mi padre never loved her like a husband should love his wife. She always suffered abuse from him whenever she confronted him, in order to protect me and mi hermano and mi primo. He's made her live un infierno then before"
"What do you mean by that?" Guillermo asks.
"Everything she's left from her children. Mi padre wanted to steal it from us. That's why he abused her until she lost consciousness. And I always hear them fight and saw the cruelties he did to her!"
"And since he mistreated her, why didn't you do anything?"
"Because not only he threat her to hurt us, he also threat me that if I ever denounced me from seeing their fights by hurting you too even though I was only 8. And you always suffered by his humiliations until he separated us when our mother died. When I told mama about papa going after you, she made the decision to create a declaration to protect us from him, along with his crimes"
"And Don Rojillo knew about this declaration"
"Mi mama was a strong mujer. Despite all his abuse, she stayed silent and never said. But when Rojillo finally found the declaration, he decided that mi madre was no longer of his use and order to kill her right in front of me"
Then Guillermo reaches a folder from his table and hands it to Dra. Polo "Su señoria, this is report of the murder of Marina Carrasco on the outsights of town. The case was closed to soon because nobody found the responsible"
"What are you saying, abogado? That the defendant is responsible for the order?"
"Si, su señoria" (your honor) Guillermo glares at Rojillo, who was silent because he knew he was guilty but didn't want to admit it.
Julieta was impressed and very proud of Guillermo was an excellent lawyer and was very brave on going against their padre like that. She could see the fear and shame in her father's eyes as he lowers his head, to hide his shame. But she didn't feel bad for him, this was making her stronger.
For the next countless of the trail, witnesses were coming in and out to give their declaration against or in favor of Rojillo but it was really hard to defend Rojillo since they were laying in favor to save him. But Guillermo has proved them wrong by bringing up business they have made in the past that were illegal and caused pain to innocents. Rojillo was getting more worried by the second and was starting to lose home in getting out of this situation.
A few minutes have passed for quick break to have lunch; soon the trial began as soon as the jury and audience sat down as Dra. Polo banged her gable to begin. But there somebody missing from the room, Julieta was nowhere to be found. Everybody asked for her presence but nobody knew where she was. Guillermo kindly explained to the judge that Julieta had an emergency at their mansion and needed to attend it. Dra. Polo understood and excused Julieta for the afternoon but she need to come back for the next section.
Without his sister, Guillermo started his case, he stood up from his seat and spoke "On behalf of mi hermana, who is not present here for the moment, we have a new testigo (witness)" he said.
"Objection!" said Rojillo's lawyer "What do you mean a new testigo? This wasn't in the program" he complains.
"No, no objection until we know what this is about" Dra. Polo then turns to Guillermo "A ver, abogado, explain yourself. Who is your testigo?" she asks, interested to know.
"It's la patrona of San Verona, Doña Barbara" he declares.
Gasps and murmurs were heard among the audience as the front doors opened, revealing la patrona herself. Julieta has come to declare Don Rojillo's crimes and everything he has done to her when she is Doña Barbara. She talked to Guillermo about this and he thought it was a brillante idea but also risky since she was still seen as an outlaw. But he told her not to worry about getting arrested or anything, he had a plan.
Julieta had her mask on so nobody would recognize her, especially not her father. She walks directly to the stand as people gave her looks mixed with fear and gratitude and respect for her. Don Rojillo was surprised but didn't blame her for coming since he's gone against her various time about trying to arrest her for robbing an bad serving the town, like El Zorro does. Clearly, Julieta was not alone; she had Indio and 2 of her men with her to protect her in case this goes bad.
"Abogado, don't let her confess, do whatever it takes. If she talks, it'll be my end" Don Rojillo whispers to his lawyer. Julieta clearly heard him, she was going to end him with both her identities.
"Excuse me, su señoria, I object o f this witness since she is clearly a long time outlaw for thieving and robbing" the lawyer says, trying o make a point.
"Obviously, you didn't hear the news. I made a discussion with Rey Enrique to release Doña Barbara of being WANTED outlaw since I've proved that her actions were for the good of the people San Verona & she's never done any serious crimes. she this proves that she is not a danger to our society and is allowed to declare in this trial after she told me how Don Rojillo tried to steal the deed to her lands of "La Dorada" Guillermo explains and hands another folder with every he said about Julieta no longer being a WANTED outlaw and it convinced Dra. Polo. Julieta was extremely to have her brother around to look after her.
"That sounds muy interesante. Alright, abogado, I will accept Doña Barbara in this trial. I would like to hear what she has to say" Dra. Polo says, looking over the documents.
"I object" Rojillo's lawyer complains
"No object" Dra. Polo denies. This disappointed Rojillo and made Julieta grin.
"Doña Barbara is called to the stands to declare" Guillermo asks and Julieta was practically already there, ready to declare.
"Por favor, Doña Barbara, raise your right hand" a lawyer said and Julieta raise her right hand again "Do you swear to tell la verdad, but la verdad and only la verdad under any circumstances? The lawyer asked.
"Lo juro" she vows again
Guillermo walks up to her "Doña Barbara, knowing your historia and respect for this town, you were involved and serious of robberies from some of the richest men in San Verona, including our own ex-governador, Don Rojillo"
"Si, abogado, I have done some robberies in my years in order to keep el pueblo of San Verona active since it was ruled from the wrong people. This all started when I was younger and made robberies for myself to survive since I had nobody. And then 2 years later, I started robbing bigger and valuable things from the rich and feed it to children. I then started my own ranchera in the fields of outside of town, as known as "La Dorada", making my own business for the well being of this town. But just to assure you, Dra. Polo. I've never abuse anybody to hurt anybody to get what I want"
"It's true, Doña Barbara, it says here there was never any violence in your business. Por favor, continua"
"Over mis años, my business were very successful, I had contacts from la capital to send me materials for any upcoming projects I had plan for San Verona like better escuelas, hospitals, positions for jobs. But I had difficulties when Don Rojillo tried various times in stopping my business and merchandise in ever getting her"
"I object, this is irregular!" Rojillo's lawyer shouts.
"It's more irregular to interrupt to shut a witness who has valuable information for this trail" Dra. Polo states. (A/N: NOW SHUT UP!)
"Doña Barbara, do you happen to know la Sra. Marina Carrasco?" Guillermo asks.
"No, not personal but I've heard so much about her. She had a pure amor for this town, she loved to help people. But she had the disgrace of being married to an ingrate like Don Rojillo. So, in her memoria and honor, I decided to continue helping her people. But to Rojillo, this was a threat to him by helping them. And from that day on, he put a price for mi cabeza as a filthy outlaw even though he didn't had a reason to arrest me"
"Doña Barbara, it also says on the documents, you are, by law, the owner of some lands and fields of "La Dorada" and Don Rojillo has tried various times to kick you out so you will stop your business in making this pueblo better. Is that true?"
"Si, abogado, I remember perfectly all his threats, all his abuse, all those insults, just to get me to leave my own ranchera that rightful belongs to me"
"That ranchera belong to mi hija, mocosa!" Rojillo shouts from his table
"IT BELONGS TO ME & YOU KNOW IT!" Julieta yells back "And no matter how many punches you gave me, you will never have mi ranchera because it rightful belongs to me, miserable!"
"Orden, orden in the court! Doña Barbara, por favor, control yourself or you will be excused from this trial" Dra. Polo warns.
"It's not necesario, Doctora"
"Now the lawyer of the defendant will take the word" the judge calls
"Gracias, su señoria, Doña Barbara, you pretend to convince this jury on doing justice when yourself has done crimes against our society" the lawyer states.
"Forgive me, abogado, but this trial has nothing to do with my past business" she says
"Si, it does and I will prove it. People of the jury, this mujer is guilty of large robberies from men of the highest society in Spain, she uses her men and power to get what she wants"
"Mis hombres don't do anything unless I allow it and I've never given them an order to kill or hurt anybody" Julieta growls.
"That's what you say"
"I object! We're not here to judge the witness but to hear her declaration" Guillermo states.
"Acceptable. Abogado, just get to the point and avoid any diversions against the witness" Dra. Polo says, serious.
"I just wanted to clear out that this woman is a criminal and why should we trust in anything she says"
"Because I speak la verdad, despite my outlaw past. And if you're trying to shut me up, then you're wasting your time. During my years of serving the town, I've seen and experience with my own eyes the tortures Don Rojillo does against the town. If it wasn't for me and my fellow amigo and outlaw, El Zorro, the people would starve to death"
"YOU & EL ZORRO WILL BE BEHIND BARS, MALDITA BRUJA!"Rojillo shouts in anger.
"Silencio, Don Rojillo" Dra. Polo bangs he gable "Continue, Doña Barbara"
"Not only the tortures, I've seen him and his men doing special favors for him"
"What kinds of favors, Doña Barbara?"
"To eliminate people who disturb him, people who had the bravery to go against him but sadly, ended by paying with their lives for it. I've gone against him but failed when he tried to kill me and mis muchachos by setting mi ranchera on fire. I almost lost mi criado, Juan Primito who is only a child with problems in need of help and me and mis hombres are his only familia. He was saved but the real target was me all along but Rojillo failed because I survived. Not only that but Rojillo & Don Fernando order to kill some of the Indians that live in the swamp, who were familia to me when I was younger just because he wanted to keep their riches"
"FALSO! That's not true! I HAD NOTHINGT O DO WITH THAT!" Rojillo shouts.
"That's as clear as el agua, Rojillo! It was you, desgraciado! You had complices to do your dirty work for you and in return you made illegal business from the innocent sources of the pueblo. You had complices like Perro De Agua, El Chepo, Julian Barreto, el narco known as Pablo Escobar! You were all responsible for the explosions of the gold mines which cost 100s of lives of many workers!" Julieta yells in pure anger.
"THAT'S UNA MENTIRA!" Rojillo screams in anger.
"SILENCIO! Orden in the court! Don Rojillo one more word from you and you are excused from this trial"
"I will make you eat those words, maldita bruja!" he screams again.
The audience started a riot against him, insulting him for his crimes. Gnoméo even had the urge to punch Rojillo many times in the face, almost killing him but control himself. His anger was boiling inside him; it was hard to control it. He couldn't believe un padre would abuse his own daughter, even if she was as herself or as Doña Barbara.
Julieta was soon done saying everything she needed to say against Rojillo as DB. The trial took another recess of 30 minutes before the final decision. Julieta ran quickly to her mansion to change before she gets discovered. She puts on her casual black dress with the silver beltr around her waist
Soon the trial began, with now Julieta back at the plainfitts table to support her brother on this last part of his case. Guillermo stands up and speaks.
"Señores of the jury, today's trial was all about figuring out if our ex-governador is inocente or guilty of the charges against him. Un hombre who should have thought of the safety and well-being of this town but show to think of himself and go over anybody who stood in his way. So, that's why I ask you, people of the jury, to not look at the errors of some of the witnesses but to look into what they said about Don Rojillo. Crimes that he will make him pay for the rest of his vida. Just think about la mujer who was his wife, how he mistreated her in the cruel possible ways. But not only to her, but to his own children. Judge this hombre for the specific crime that is the worst of all his crimes and it will take him the rest of his days in prision. That's all I say, su señoria" Guillermo finishes and takes a seat next to his sister, who was very proud of him.
"Gracias, abagoado. Now we hear from the defendant" Dra. Polo says as Rojillo's lawyer stood up to speak.
"Since from el tiempo is tiempo, we all know that this is a complot. I'm 100% sure that all the crimes against my client are all lies, just to end an innocent. At the last hour, he's been accused of so many crimes that he lost everything he had, even the love and trust of his children. So, I ask you, people of the jury, to not make a mistake and end an innocent" he finishes and goes back to his
Julieta didn't need her witch powers to know the decision of the jury. She didn't feel regret doing this to him, this made her stronger and proud. If she knew anything about being fair, no matter he or she is, every person must pay for their crimes and suffer the consequences like any normal person. Soon the jury came back into the room and took their seats with the final decision.
"Señores of the jury, do you have the final decision?" Dra. Polo asks
"Si, su señoria" a man in a suit and thick mustache said.
"Citizen Don Rojillo, por favor, stand up" Dra. Polo says and Rojillo obeys "How do you find the defendant?" she asks the jurty
"The jury has found the defendant, Don Rojillo, guilty of the charges of murder, kidnap, and illegal business in the foreign" the man says.
The audience was clapping and cheering with joy. Julieta and Guillermo hugged it out, thrilled of winning the case. Julieta looked back and caught a glimpse of Gnoméo, smirking and sending her a wink and she smiles back. They all stopped clapping and sat back down to hear the punishment from the judge.
"Citizen Don Rojillo, for being found guilty, this trail conducts you to a una prision of maximum security for 60 años. This trail has ended" she gives a final bang on her gable.
This was it, the end for him. 2 policemen came up and put Don Rojillo in handcuffs ready to take him away for his long-life punishment.
Rojillo stops his pace and looks up at his children with shame "Forgive me, Guillermo. Forgive me, Julieta. I love you both" he says with shame but they didn't bought it.
Everybody stood up and retrieved the room as the Rojillo siblings hugged with love. they were finally free of their father's torture, they can finally be together and catch up on all those years they missed out, cruelly separated. She even received a hug and kiss from Gnoméo, he was also proud of her by putting his long enemigo behind bars, at last! As she hugged him, Julieta then frowns by a thought, this was still not over. Even though she just won una batalla, but she feared on winning the entire guerra.
WHOOOO! MAN, AM I PROUD OF MYSELF! I'm SUPER EXCITED SINCE THIS ARE GOING TO BE MY BEST CHAPTERS EVER! OH, I LOVE U GUYS FOR FORCING ME TO DO THIS, (Kidding!) BUT I DO LOVE THIS SOOO MUCH!
I AM ON A ROLL WITH THIS STORY SO I'M GOING TO BE UPDATING MORE OF RTHIS STORY THAN THE OTHERS, just saying! XOXOXOXO BTW, The part I had most fun writing was G+J* on the balcony. It was funny that my sister was present when I was writing & she's like "It's similar to the original" then I get annoyed and say "No, it's not! GET OUT OF MY ROOM!" Fun, huh? ;)
