I do not own any character, settings, items, etc from the anime/manga, Naruto! I do own Abby and Sarah, other original characters, and anything else that I came up with. Please enjoy and review :)
It's been a few weeks since I had come to this strange and very much different world, but my trainings going great and adjusting wasn't too hard with my new friends! Now I just have to go there.
"Oops! I did it again. I played with your heart, got lost in the game. Oh baby baby!" I sang and skipped down the hall, my mind on only one thing. "Make poop! Everyone in the club wanna make-
"What are you singing now?"
"Ah!" I yelped, my heart jumping in my check. I was so taken by surprised that I slipped backwards, my arms flailing next to me in an attempt to stay up.
"Watch out!" The voice shouted, as I felt a tug on my wrist My body was moved upward, making it so that the person that did so was below me. My eyes were shut closed and when I finally made contact with whoever fell with me my small, "oomph," was smothered by-
I opened my eyes to see Kankuro's, wide and panicked.
I quickly sat up, my lips raising from his. I felt the incredible need to scream, but it was stuck. I wiped my mouth, knowing my face was as red as ever. I kept my my eyes down as Kankuro jumped up.
"I'm sorry! It was an accident! I didn't mean to!" he blurted out, words jumbling together, trying to explain.
'I-it's ok." He stood up and reached a hand down. I grabbed it gratefully, and he pulled me up
I shifted awkwardly at the silence, and was dumbfounded when I heard Kankuro chuckle.
"Haha. Come on, it was an accident" He patted my head, grinning. "And between you and me- Your not that good of a kisser."
"Hey! Your such a meanie Kankuro!" I stuck my tongue out at him as he walked away chuckling, waving without turning back.
I smiled to myself, happy that it didn't faze our friendship. "Make poop! Everyone in the club wanna, Make poop!" I started to proceed with singing and skipping to my destination.
BEWARE: GAARA'S POV
I was walking down one of the halls to Temari's room. I had to tell her to pick up some important scrolls for me, before I headed to my office. I was about to turn a corner when I heard Abby singing. Although she was fake-singing, you could tell she was good at it. I also saw Kankuro going the opposite way, towards her. I was going to greet them, but stopped when I heard a thud. I peeked behind the corner and saw Abby on top of Kankuro...Kissing? Without thinking, I turned away and quickly went back to my room. I plopped myself down on the chair at front of my desk. Something in my chest twisted in pain. I griped the clothing that covered my heart.
It hurts.
Guess who :3
"1, 2, 3, get off my father's apple tree!" I sang as I knocked on the door of my destination.
I heard a light, "come in." So you know what I did? I took a potato chip...AND ATE IT! MUHAHAHAH! Oh wait... I'm not Kira. Silly me.
"Goooood moooorniiiing, Gaara!~ I has a question~!" I sang loudly, as I barged in.
He jolted at the sound of my voice. "W-what is it?"
Did he just stutter?! What's got his Kazekage robes in a bunch? Hehehe, I just made a funny.
"Me was wondering if me could goes outsides for a walk!" I questioned in a sing-song voice.
It took him a moment to understand my amazing language. "Yes. Let me find you an escort."
"Eeeeeeew!" I complained. "I'll just go ask Temari." I started turning around, ready to go get her.
"She's busy."
"Awwww!" I twirled back, then said excitedly, happy to know someone else. "Kankuro then!" I turned again, and took a step towards the door.
"Wait!" He said quickly grabbing my wrist. I looked back to see a eager face. "I'll take you."
I stared at him for a second, a little surprised, but then smiled happily. "Ok!"
DANGER: GAARA'S POV
What am I thinking? Right when I heard her say that she was going to ask Kankuro to take her on this walk I blurted out that I would take her even though I'm behind on Kazekage duties.
I small smile tugged at my lips as I saw her. She was crouched down next to a mini cactus that was sporting a small flower. Despite it being such a small thing, her smile was huge, and she looked at the plant with such adoration.
"Isn't it pretty?" She asked as I walked towards her, her eyes never leaving the cactus, and mine never leaving her.
"Yes... So, seems like things with Kankuro are going good."
Where did that come from?
"Eh? What are you talking about?" She finally looked up at me, her brows furrowed and her head tilted to the side.
"I saw you two in the hallway...Kissing.. I understand why you would want that to be a secret." My voice remained calm, but I could feel my throat straining to get it out, "I'll keep it from Temari, but please refrain from doing such stuff so openly in the house-"
"No! That's not it at all. It was a mistake, an accident! It happened when we fell! I totally don't like him that way, and it wasn't even enjoyable! It would have been if it was like someone like y-" Her words rushed out, then suddenly stopped. Her eyes were wide, and her face started turning pink, then red.
"I'm sorry for misunderstanding... Do... You like someone?" He tried picking up on what I had caught off.
"I-Uhm, well, sort... Of?"
"I see..."
"Gaara! I have the scrolls for you!" Temari bursted through the door.
"I got to go." I said quickly, as I made my leave. "Have fun with your scrolls!"
That was close. I can't believe I almost told him I'd be totally fine kissing him!
Yeah, Temari came at a bad time. You shoulda said it quicker. Now for plan two!
Plan... two...?
-Insert evil laughter from inner-me here-
This is stupid! I don't even know.. I mean... He... I... I don't even know what I'm feeling! AAAAHHHGHHH!
Oh, come on! Are you seriously telling me you don't even like him?
Why do you even care?
Well, you're me, and I don't wanna be single forever! Anyway's keep your head in the game. We must get you all dolled up, and head to his office once again~
I'm scared to take your advice...
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
"KAZEKAGE-SAMA!"
"Eh?!" I ran to a window and looked out, seeing a large swirl of smoke reaching up to the sky. I ran downstairs and into the street.
"Mr. Bird/Camel! I missed you!" I yelled up to the big clay bird, my arms open for a hug that I knew would never come. And Man-Women was on the back with...
"GAARA!" I yelled, then yelled again. I kept yelling Gaara's name even though I could see he was unconscious, his body limp on the back of Mr. Bird/Camel.
As soon as I saw Kankuro run towards them I decided to follow as well, but when I took one step I stopped by an outstretched hand.
"Don't." I turned around at hearing Temari.
"What are you saying? Man-Women just took Gaara!"
"We'll get him back. We're sending an emergency message to Konoha," She explained, ignoring my 'Man-Women' comment.
I tightened my fist, and pushed back the urge to sprint after Kankuro to go get Gaara back.
It's been a while until I heard word about Kankuro. And when I did, it wasn't good news. I rushed to a medic room, and for the first time, saw him without his hood and paint. He was covered in sweat, and in obvious pain. The old-elder-chick, Chiyo-Baasama, whose grandson was the one who poisoned Kankuro, didn't even know how to fix him. I sat on a chair against the wall, making sure I wasn't in the way, but could help when I was needed. The same applied for Temari.
I didn't even notice that Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, and Sarah were here until Lady Chiyo went to attack Kakashi. I didn't pay much attention to that. Too many thoughts filled my head. Too many tears clouded my vision. I barely heard Sarah's words.
What happened? What would Man-Women want with Gaara? What's going to happen to him? What's going to happen to Kankuro?
"Abby? Are you listening?" Sarah shook my shoulder. I could hear she was trying to conceal her agitation with a soft, concerned tone.
"Huh?"
She sighed, "I know you're worried about Gaara and everything, but you need to pay attention."
I nodded silently, knowing she was right.
"There." Sarah and my attention turned to Sakura who wiped the sweat from her forehead. She took the poison directly out of Kankuro, thankfully.
Kankuro seemed to be in deep thought before saying clearing, "Uzumaki Naruto. Please save my brother."
If I remember correctly, Gaara did say that Naruto helped him. Either way, I'm set on going. I need to make sure that Gaara's alright.
"I'm going too." Temari announced, when we were outside.
"Temari, stay here and work on defense of the country border," Chiyo-baasama told her, "From the shinobi of Sunagakure, I am more than enough."
A little after we left for the Akatsuki hideout, we came into view of a silhouette.
Itachi Uchiha...Blah, Blah, Blah...No eye contact...Blah, Blah, Blah... Hey look, epic ninja battle.
Aaaaaand we find out that it wasn't even Itachi, but a ninja from the sand. So far, everything seemed so tense for everybody, except for me. I just wanted to get to Gaara.
I zoned out for a little, looking at a tree until I heard, "One tailed Shukaku." I immediately looked over to see that Chiyo-Baasama and the rest were talking about the Jinchuuriki...What Gaara was.
"...How do you...Remove a Bijuu?" Sakura asked cautiously. I couldn't help but notice how shocked Naruto looked at her question.
"If that were to be done, the Jinchuuriki would..." Chiyo-baasama trailed off.
"You don't mean?" Sakura asked, knowing what she meant, as did everyone else.
"Yes. If the Bijuu is extracted, that Jinchuuriki will...die."
"You can't be serious!" I yelled, turning everyone's attention to me. "T-then Gaara...Then what the hell are we doing standing around?"
"She's right let's move as soon as possible," Naruto urged, his voice hard and set. Something I honestly never expected from Naruto.
Even though Naruto and I wanted to get going, we had to set up a fire for a break. Naruto and Sakura fell asleep while I sat near the fire with Chiyo-baasama.
Now, more than ever, I was worried about Gaara. If we got there too late... Then... He'd be... I don't even want to think about it. Sure, I haven't known him long, but he has been one of the most important people to me since I got here. I just can't afford to lose him. I can't.
Even as I sat there, in another world, and a desert no less, everything felt so surreal. The cool breeze that wavered past me, small grains of sand being picked up from it and pricking my face. The fire in front of me, illuminating the people around me. The people in general. People who were shinobis. People that, if they wanted to, could kill me with their skills. Sometimes I wondered if it this is all really a dream.
I looked up as Kakashi walked towards up. "Let's finish up our break, and head off soon," he urged.
"Yes." Chiyo-baasama agreed, and we once again set off.
When we finally reached the hideout, standing in front of it was Neji, Tenten, Lee, and... Ohmygod who is that?
"Hey, Kakashi!" I couldn't keep my eyes off him. What... I couldn't even... I was dumbfounded.
Bowl cut.
Bushy eyebrows.
A twinky in his smile.
Green leotard.
It was the splitting image of an older Lee. And speaking of splitting, I felt like my sides would.
"Sorry, we're a little late." Kakashi greeted back, nudging me as a sign to calm down before I'd burst out laughing.
They all talked about what they needed to do while I calmed myself. The Lee look-alike, named Gai, took his team to find some seals. They all took the seals off simultaneously, and right afterwards Sakura punched the rock blocking the exit.
We rushed into the hideout, letting Gai's team look out. The first thing I saw was-
"Gaara!" I yelled rushing forward, everything suddenly disappearing except him.
"Abby, stop!" Sarah sprinted, and grabbed me, her arms holding me tightly back. When my mind processed who was right in front of us, it made it even harder for her to keep ahold of me.
"You bastards! Get off of him!" I yelled at Man-women and an old, masked man who was sitting right on top of Gaara's unmoving body.
"You should understand..." Sakura murmured softly, coming up to Sarah and I. As soon as she said that my body stopped moving, practically going limp.
"Yeah, Yeah. Don't you get it? He's well dead, uhn." Man-women taunted.
I choked back a sob, but Naruto bursted out, "Give him back...Give Gaara back you bastards!" This time, he was the one who ran forward, but it was Kakashi who blocked him.
"Calm down. If you go rushing in there without thinking, they'll destroy you..."
The old man and Deidara held a conversation about who would look after Gaara and go against Naruto, who I was shocked to find was also a Jinchuuriki.
In the end, Man-Women summoned Mr. Camel/Bird to swoop Gaara into it's mouth and take off.
Right away Naruto ran ahead after it, yelling, "Hey! Get back!"
"Naruto, Abby, and I will handle the one outside. Sakura, Sarah, and Chiyo, take care of this. But, until Gai's team get's back, try not to overdo it." Kakashi ordered. He looked at me and I returned his gaze with a one of gratefulness for letting me go with them.
When we were outside I could barely keep focus on what anyone was saying no matter how hard I tried. I could just feel my heart beating in my ear, as my eyes were glued to Mr. Camel/Bird who has Gaara in it's mouth.
I tried to stay out of the way while Naruto and Kakashi went at it with Man-Women. I wasn't even done with my training, and I wouldn't be much of use. I felt so useless. I wanted to do something so bad to save Gaara, but all I could do was stand here like an idiot.
We moved forward and Kakashi-sensei used his Sharingan to send Man-Women's arm into a different dimension...Or something of that nature. The shock of all the really cool, and earth-impossible moves they were doing made it even harder to register everything. Then Naruto attacked Man-Women with a move called raisin-again! Or... Something... Anyways, it was successful in disconnecting Mr. Came/Bird's head, where Gaara was.
"Gaara!" Naruto shouted as he tore at Mr. Camel/Bird's head...May he rest in peace...
And there was Gaara...Lifeless...I clutched my fist, biting back tears, as Naruto screamed at Man-Women. when he proceeded to beat the shit out of Man-Woman it only made me want to cry harder. I wasn't doing anything. I couldn't do anything. I just had to stay on the sidelines. Even when it turned out that the Man-Women Naruto had beaten up was a fake. Even when Naruto's Jinchuuriki chakra flooded out, and Kakashi had to repel it. Even as Naruto was calming down, and Sakura and Chiyo-Baasama had caught up.
"What of Gaara?" Chiyo-Baasaa asked. Everyone was quiet.
My eyes stayed on Gaara's body, as Gai's team appeared, having found real Man-Woman. Of course he went on apart art, then self destructed himself. Naruto's clones carried Gaara as we all fled. Luckily before we could get hurt by the explosion, Kakashi used his Sharingan to send them away.
We went to an open field so Sakura could examine Gaara.
"Sakura?" I asked quietly, hoping there as even a small chance.
She shook her head no, and stood up. Everyone was quiet, as we stared at Gaara's lifeless body.
I couldn't bear it anymore. I fell onto my knees and burst out crying at the spot, doubled over Gaara's body. Sobs wracked my body, as tears spilt onto Gaara's face.
He's gone...Forever. Why? What did he have to deserve this? He was the Kazekage! He loved his village and all the people in it! HE SHOULDN'T HAVE DIED! I should have more careful! He was such an important person to me!
Naruto was also mourning Gaara openly, while everyone just stayed silent.
"Calm down. Both of you." Chiyo-baasama told us
Naruto was about to say something, but I beat him to it by breaking down and screaming.
"SHUT UP! Why did you all have to put the monster in Gaara? If you wouldn't have, this wouldn't have happened! Have you ever thought about Gara feels? He was suffering! You all just labeled him as a monster!" I started sobbing uncontrollably again, after my sudden outburst.
Naruto looked like he couldn't agree more. "I couldn't save Gaara, and I couldn't save Sasuke. For three years, I trained desperately...But nothings changed...For three years, Has it..." He wiped his tears on his jacket sleeves.
Once again, I barely paid attention as Chiyo-Baasama walked over to me. She motioned for me to move over off of Gaara, which I reluctantly did. She put her hands over Gaara, and my eyes widened to see chakra formed around her hands.
"Chiyo-sama! That jutsu is," Sakura gasped.
Naruto watched the old women skeptically, but his voice help hope."What are trying to do now?"
Even Kakashi and Gai knew what she was doing.
"What the hell are you trying to do?" I re-asked Naruto's question.
"She's bringing Gaara back." Sakura stated with disbelief.
"Wa-what? Is that even possible?" I gaped at Chiyo-baasama.
"This is a Jutsu only she knows." She explained.
"Gah!" We all snapped our heads towards Chiyo-baasama, "Damn. Not enough Chakra." She gasped, sweat dripping down her forehead.
"Use mine!" I shouted, shuffling a little closer, and then begged. "Please. I...All I've done is stand around. I want to be able to do something for Gaara!"
"Place your hands on top of mine." She instructed, and I did so.
Small pants left my mouth, as my breathing became labored. I could feel my body becoming weaker, and weaker, as my chakra was drained. Even with Chiyo-Baasama and I focused on bring back Gaara, I couldn't help but feel shocked to see so many begin to show up. It made me feel kind of happy for Gaara. That so many people would gather for him. He really did turn things around for himself.
Finally, Gaara opened his eyes! He sat up surprised to see all the shinobi who cheered and smiled at him.
"Gaara!" I swung my arms around him, I could feel my tears streak down my face. I pulled away and looked at him, so happy to see his eyes open. To see his chest breath up and down. It took a lot to sound cheerful and not cry again. "You dumb head! I was so worried about you!"
He still didn't say anything, just had the same shocked expression
"We all were." We looked up at Kankuro. "You're a little brother I always have to worry about, eh?"
"Hey, dont go getting all complacent! Gaara's still the Kazekage, so don't be so cheeky!" Temari scolded with a smile. "How are you feeling, Gaara?" She asked, looking down at us.
He silently tried to pick himself up, "Guh!" He gasped out, and collapsed back down.
"You shouldn't be in such a hurry to move. Your body's not back to full health yet." Sakura informed him.
My eye twitched as some of the sand girls started cooing about Gaara, talking about how cool and strong he is. They even came over and pushed me out of the way to get closer to him!
Thankfully, as his big sister, Temari shielded him from their stupid fangirl clutches of evil!
As people were cheering for the life of Gaara, other were morning for Chiyo-baasama who died in exchange for Gaara's life.
"Gaara." I said quietly, as I saw him trembling to get up.
"It's ok." He reassured. I grabbed his arm, and helped him. He turned to the shinobi. "Everyone. Say a prayer for Chiyo."
Time Skip!
We were all in black clothing as we mourned Chiyo-Baasama's death at her grave. It was a very sorrowful time, even though it was also joyous.
"E-eh?" I looked around after we were done, noticing someone missing.
"What's wrong?" Temari asked, noticing me looking around.
"Darn it!" Sakura gasped. "I forgot." Her hand was over her mouth, but she slowly moved it.
"Eh? What is it?" Naruto asked confused, looking between the two of us.
"Where's Sarah?" I asked Sakura as well as answered Naruto.
Sakura frowned, and I knew whatever she was going to tell me wouldn't be good. "We...Didn't kill Sasori...And Sarah...Went with him."
"WHAT!"
