January 24th
Mirra's point of view.
Lagneía screamed, a sound similar to broken glass against a chock board, and fell into the arms of a nearby monster. She wasn't dead, but had a large gash over her lower back, where black blood gushed out into a puddle on the stone floor.
Monsters gasped and stood back, some running away and others running to her aid. One of them shouted something I couldn't understand and ran towards the other side of the cave.
Standing in the spot where Lagneía stood before was my big brother.
"Percy!"
"Mirra!" I ran straight at him, jumping into his open arms and smiling widely as he spun me around and hugged me tightly. Despite the situation we were in, I think I've never been happier to be in my brothers arms.
Our reunion didn't last long...
"Hmph, so predictable, half-blood."
We turned around. Standing a few feet away was the same man I had seen earlier, with his long white hair neatly gelled back and his black leathery skin glimmering in the dim light of the cave.
Percy put me down and pulled the pen out of his pocket, slowly sliding the cap but not entirely taking it off. "Yeah, while that might be true, I'm taking my sister home."
The white haired guy chuckled, holding his hand out as a long iron sword appeared in his hand. "You get right to the point. I like that."
I'd seen Percy with a sword before. I'd watched him train a million times, I'd been close by while he spared with Nico and Thalia. I'd stood at a distance watching him slay Hellhounds and Hydras, I knew he was good, but never before had I seen him like this.
He bolted at the man at full speed, and the clank of the swords echoed though the cave. The two were moving so fast my eyes could barely keep up. Percy slashed, the other one blocked, Percy blocked when he slashed, then they clashed again and again, sparks flying off each of their swords, then they stumbled back by the force and charged at each other again.
The white haired man twisted his sword around the hilt of Percys, causing Percy to withdraw his attack in order to keep his sword in hand. He used this as an opening and slashed at Percy. The blade made contact with him and he yelped and stumbled back. The man hit Percy in the chest with the butt of his sword and he thrust forward, then the man swung his weapon like a baseball bat and Percy went flying on the ground, where he skidded around the gravel and hit his head on the wall of the cave.
"Percy!" I yelled and ran over to where he landed. Luckily he wasn't too hurt. His shirt sleeve was shaved off leaving a cut, not very deep, on his shoulder, right below a scar which he never told me how he got. He cheek had a large gash on it, deeper than the other but not extremely serious, however it would probably hurt later on. Skin around it was torn and scratched from where he scraped his face while sliding on the rock. It was slightly swelling and would definitely leave a bruise. A drop of blood rolled down his cheek and off his chin.
"D-don't just s-stand there a-and to-toy with him..." Lagneía mumbled, her voice slurred and weak. "K-k-kill him!"
Percy scrambled up and scooped me up in his arms, where he took off running towards the exit of the cave. My head was burried in his chest and I gripped onto his shirt so I wouldn't risk falling off.
"And you think running is all it takes to get away?"
Percy stopped suddenly and I looked up. A dozen, if not more, trolliads were blocking the entrance of the cave, each of a different shape, size, colors and texture.
Percy cursed and set me down, fully uncaping Riptide and positioning himself in front of me. The monsters drew their weapons. Percy yelled something in Greek and charged at the monsters.
It was amazing. Five monsters advanced on him at the same time and he slashed though them as if they were butter. They all disintegrated into golden dust. More and more were charging though the cave but Percy killed all of them easily.
I made the mistake of cheering for him, with attracted the attention of a few monsters, who turned my way and lunged at me.
I screamed and ran back, hoping to escape but was met with the face of a blue skinned monsters with a crooked smile. He charged at me with a spear, but I ducked, though a piece of hair was cut off.
"Mirra!" I heard Percy call but I couldn't see him. I kept ducking at the spear coming at me, though each time it kept getting a little closer to me. I was getting tired and I couldn't dodge forever.
"Mirra!" I heard Percy call again, and this time I saw his fighting off a group of monsters and trying to make his was to me. "The charm!"
"What?" I called back, confused as to what he had ment.
"Your necklace! The charm!"
I looked down at my necklace at the little green charm being held up by the two mermaids. It was then I noticed that the charm gave off a sort of glowing look, like it was brighter than normal.
I ripped the necklace off my neck and pressed the charm.
The whole necklace started glowing silver, then suddenly started growing heavier. The mermaids tail wove together and the light emitting from the charm grew up into the form of a blade.
What I was now holding in my hand was a sword.
It was beautiful. The mermaids tails acted as the hilt. The green charm now connected the blade with the hilt and the blade itself was amazing. Pure silver, about a foot and a half long with a pointed end and a bright glow shimmering from the weapon.
I didn't have much time to gaze at it because I got attacked again by the blue skinned monster. I jumped back when the spear hit the ground by my feet.
The neck attack I blocked with my sword, but stumbled back. I gripped the hilt so tight my knuckles turned white and my knees felt like jelly.
I turned my head and watched Percy. He jumped back from an attack then quickly counter attacked while the other monster was busy digging his sword out of the rock. He was quick, only having about half a second opening. He held the sword with one hand and his body was completely relaxed.
"Okay Mirra," I whispered to myself. "You can do this. Just relax. Just relax." I removed one hand from the sword and loosened my grip so my knuckles weren't so strained. I copied the stands Percy was in and turned my attention back to the blue skinned monster.
I yelled as I ran towards him, my sword clashing with his spear. To my surprise he stumbled back. I used this as an opportunity to twist my sword around the hilt of his spear and quickly disarmed him. Before the monster could react, I slashed. He disintegrated into dust.
"Whoa..." I mumbled.
Another monster came changing at me, an iron dagger poised and ready to stab. I blocked and slashed. It screamed and fell to its knees, then I thrust my sword into his back, leaving a pile of golden dust. Two more charged at me, and I whirled around and stabbed on reflex. One disintegrated, then I went for the other. He stabbed at me with his sword, but I dodged and ducked down, sliding under his legs and, before he knee what was happening, twisted the sword into his back and he turned to dust just like the others.
I didn't see the other two charging at me till they were right on top of me, no time to dodge or counter attack. They were about to stab when they suddenly disintegrated. Percy was standing behind them.
I turned to face monsters coming my way at the same time Percy did the same to the monsters charging at him. We fought back to back (well, actually my head was on his back). Percy was much faster than me and had an easier time moving his sword.
A monster charged at me and I did a backwards cartwheel to dodge, then ducked under another monster's legs, slashing it across the knees while Percy stabbed the other one.
Monsters started retreating to the other side, which gave me a second to catch my breath.
Percy looked at me. "Time to get out of here, huh?"
I smiled, nodding as he picked me up and put me on his shoulders.
He ran though the cave, faster than I though a person could run, while I held onto his shoulders.
I saw the exit to the cave in front of us, with sunlight shinning though the small hole. Never in my life had I ever been happier to feel that cold winter air hit my arm as the wind blew though the cave. I smiled as we approached and was happy that this would all be over soon.
But, of course, it wasn't. (I'm starting to see what Percy meant when he said when things are easy, its most likely a trap.)
"Don't even try it, half-blood." The voice that rang out though the cave shook my mind a sent shivers up and down my spine, but not in the way most people would feel. It was more like someone was actually touching my back with icy cold fingers. I'd never heard this voice before. "I know your movements, your strategies and plans. You can't escape from me..."
The cave shook and I saw why. Dozens, maybe hundreds of Trollia's blocked the exit all with weapons handy. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a are shadow, almost like a giant, and even though shadows are suppose to be just that, shadows, this one looked real, like in a third dimensional state. Its eyes glowed red and I knew that I saw tis guy before.
"P-percy?" I whispered. "What do we do now?"
"Don't panic." He whispered back. "I have a idea."
"It won't get us blown up, will it?" I asked, knowing that's his ideas usually turn out.
I felt him shrug. "Maybe."
"Oh, that's real reassuring." I said than mostly to myself than to Percy.
Percy took a deep breath and opened his palms out towards the ground. I heard him whisper something. I could hear him perfectly but I couldn't understand what he was saying.
" Γεια σου, των ωκεανών, χρειαζόμαστε μια μικρή βοήθεια."
The trollia's took out there weapons and pointed them at us. I gripped my sword but stayed on his shoulders.
"Θα μπορούσα να χρησιμοποιήσω σωστά τη δύναμή σας για τώρα. Νιώστε σαν δανεισμό ένα χέρι?"
Suddenly the cave started shaking like an earthquake, and I gasped, gripping Percy's shoulders tightly. Monsters gasped and lunged towards us with there weapons at the ready. They were fast and we were outnumbered.
"Percy!" I yelled.
"Πάγωμα πάντα!"
As soon as he said that, a huge gush of water shot out of the ground, then another, then another. The water all stared circling around us so we were guarded by a shield. Percy extended his hand and water swilled up his arm. He opened his palm, and the cave was flooded by freezing cold water.
Monsters screeched loudly but I couldn't see due to the salt water stinging my eyes. I knew we were underwater, but for some reason it felt no different that being on land. I could breath just fine, and didn't feel any change to the air.
I heard Percy sigh several minutes later. "Okay, now lets get out of here before anyone else shows up."
I opened my eyes.
"Whoa!"
The entire cave was completely frozen.
I wrote the final two chapters a while back but forgot to post them and here we are, several months later...(hears gasping from the audience)...Yes, I just said final two, but don't go showing up at my door with the torches and pitchforks just yet. Once school starts I'll be posting a sort of sequel to this story involving Mirra ad the gang. Be on the lookout for that.
