(A/N)Another chapter so soon? Yes, I actually wrote this as part of the last chapter but once it breached 20 pages I decided to split them in two. I wanted to gauge a sort of reaction to these chapters anyways, which hasn't been fun. Just real quick let me address a few things (not that anyone cares)
1: I feel like this story is clearly marked and warned in the description, each chapter has a BOLD WARNING sign before the actual writing and lists the possibly offensive material the chapter contains below, if you are not interested in reading it please remember no one is making you read it. There are thousands of different stories just waiting to be read merely a click away- taking the time to read my story and leave reviews hating on it seems pointless to me.
2: I know that some of the old readers of this story (It was published literally 6 years ago, it is quite an old story) probably are not still reading this but if by some chance you are I hope you're enjoying it! I miss how it used to be before I dropped off the face of the internet! Back then most people reviewing gave helpful and positive feedback or constructive criticism, I actually at some points asked reviewers what they thought and what direction I should go-those days are long past, sadly.
3: Most importantly: if you don't enjoy how this story has gone or is now going-sorry...but also not sorry, I'm not throwing these chapters in because I ran out of ideas, the New York happenings have been outlined and in the works since this story very first took form. I had hoped perhaps that readers would recognize that New York isn't written in for just any reason- my story has been focused on the struggles and pain Naruto has faced since an absolutely mortifying ordeal, a main key was how Naruto rejects love and happiness because he feels he doesn't deserve it. New York and everything that happens there is a culmination of all his choices, for every action there is a reaction and sadly for Naruto things do not seem to be getting any better this all leads to him falling farther into a dark psychological place.
I never thought I'd have to write out explanations or excuses for what I wrote, sadly I felt compelled to because for some reason this site won't let me reply to reviews except in private messages which is useless. If you are still interested in the story, here is the next chapter!
WARNINGS: Violence, some language, drug use and gangs
DISCLAIMER: *insert legal jargon that explains I don't claim any rights to Naruto etc.* (do people still do disclaimers?)
Life with the Venom Brothers wasn't fun, but Naruto never expected it to be. The days were long and dangerous, three times Naruto had to run for his life from rival gangs, the police never stood a chance but the first time Naruto had a run in with the gangs he barely escaped alive. His days were full of running, delivering, running, and delivering.
Naruto made a friend in Gaara—well as much as you could call Gaara a friend. The red headed boy was unpredictable and almost impossible to read. Naruto decided that Gaara wasn't out to hurt him, and after all he was the only Snake that even bothered to hold a conversation with him. The other brothers sensed that Naruto was not one of them, he thought, they definitely didn't like him and did not believe that he belonged.
Slowly, however, Naruto thought he did belong. The life of a Snake was tense, stressful, and dangerous but Naruto adapted to it rather quickly. The hours were long and Naruto was able to focus his mind on something other than the past which was a refreshing change, hopefully doing something to ease his tortured mind. He felt accustomed and almost at home in the dirty environment, for someone who viewed themselves as scum this was the perfect atmosphere for him. Naruto found himself thankfully ignored by most, besides Gaara who was never too far away. Naruto, who once feared being alone above all, grew to love the solidarity. Living as a gang member made him tougher, he was working to become stronger with vigorous work outs when he was shut away or working, all Naruto wanted was to be able to defend himself. He never wanted to be helpless in any situation ever again.
Naruto was walking through the halls that led to the runner exit when Gaara found him. Naruto didn't pay him much mind, Gaara was almost like a leech the way he stuck to Naruto, wherever Naruto would turn Gaara was often there. Zipping up his hoodie Naruto waited to see what the boy had to say, it might be vastly important or it could be mindless chatter, either way Gaara would take his time and there was no telling with him what it could be.
"This your hundredth run or something isn't it?" Gaara finally said, breaking the silence. He had fallen in step beside Naruto.
"I'm not sure, I don't keep count," Naruto kept his eyes ahead of him. It was his 109th run.
"Well just so you know, a little birdie told me that Cobra sent out his vipers to keep watch on you, blondie," Gaara was smiling, or smirking, Naruto could never tell which one. "You're under evaluation."
Naruto's heart quickened but he forced himself to stay calm, showing a reaction would only cause Gaara to take his time and torture Naruto with the unknown. If Cobra was watching him that could only mean trouble, the man had only proven himself cruel and ruthless to Naruto in the few weeks he had been a Snake and having him paying close attention to a Brother was never a good thing. Naruto forced himself to shrug, hoping to disappoint Gaara.
"Interesting isn't it?" Gaara mused, he didn't buy it.
"I guess," Naruto muttered. Gaara said nothing and finally Naruto gave up, he wouldn't entertain it anymore and if Cobra was watching him he would play Gaara's little mind game. Coming to a complete stop he whirled on Gaara and stared him straight in the eye.
"Listen Gaara, if it's important tell me if not then let me go I need to start my run, especially if Cobra is watching me," Naruto stood there a moment watching as Gaara gazed back amused. Why was Gaara always so amused? Naruto never found anything entertaining that Gaara apparently did.
"It's only slightly important," Gaara looked over to his left; they were standing by the ladder now. "Cobra always checks in after a runner does about 100 jobs for him, just to report back and figure out whether your worth keeping. Also to make sure you're clean, so if you're selling Sand on the side to the other gangs, I would stop for awhile."
"The gangs would kill me the moment I tried to strike a deal," Naruto rolled his eyes and move to the ladder, "let Cobra watch all he wants. I know what I'm doing." He reached for the ladder wrung.
"Those exercises are working out for you huh?" Gaara chuckled, "You're filling out your hoodie nicely, way to work the biceps blondie. If this doesn't work out you can always go be a lifeguard or something."
Naruto turned to shoot Gaara a dirty look before he climbed up the ladder, pushing the opening upwards and out he quickly made his escape and back to civilization. Sliding the opening back into place he sighed in relief as he left Gaara below. Naruto could only take so much of his now only friend before he wanted to rip all his hair out.
Gaara wouldn't lie to him though, Naruto thought, at least he never had before. If he said Cobra was watching him, Cobra was watching him and he better be on his way. Maybe he would throw in some of the rooftop shortcuts he had been figuring out the past couple of days to impress the vipers watching him from the shadows.
While working with the Snakes Naruto had discovered many easy ways to get around the neighborhood, the alleys were all known to him now, he sometimes he would make it fun by figuring out the most complicated ways to get to his destination and the fastest ways to get away too.
Naruto made his way into the city crowd easily, he moved quickly and with a purpose, he had become more aware of the people around him since he started working with the Snakes, more aware of the people who were watching him who might be in the way, who might be suspicious. He spied two people who were speaking in front of his alleyway, blocking his route. He wondered briefly if Cobra had set the people up to see his reaction.
Naruto didn't stop but moved past them, slipping into the neighboring restaurant Naruto walked quietly through the dining room and in the kitchen, no one noticed him, which was good. Naruto had learned that if you walk quickly and with a purpose and make yourself look like you know exactly what you're doing you could fool almost anyone into believing it. Through the kitchen he reached the backdoor which emptied out into an adjacent alleyway.
He checked the alleyway twice before he clambered up the brick side of the building in front of him. Gripping and moving along the windows he was able to pull himself up to the rooftop. From there he could've easily dropped into the alley below and continued but Naruto decided to have some fun.
Turning around he faced the next rooftop over, he took a running leap and landed running, he breathed deep and steady eyes focused on his goal he didn't stop running and leaped again to the third rooftop. This time he veered to the left and leapt one more time, hitting the last rooftop in a roll he entered the apartment building from the roof door. Running down the flight of stairs he glanced around him, making sure the vipers hadn't followed him into the apartment building Naruto veered off course.
He stopped outside Iruna's apartment, as quietly as he could he slipped the piece of paper out of his pocket. Inside he had wrapped half of his tips from the previous day. Kneeling down he tucked the paper under the door and quickly stood up and moved on. He hadn't gotten far when he heard the door open behind him, fear gripped his heart and he hastened his steps, he was almost at the flight of stairs that took him away from Iruna's floor.
"Naruto!" the voice was soft and barely over a whisper. Naruto stopped in his tracks and turned slightly to look back.
It was Katy, as he thought; the little girl stared out the door through the crack she had opened. She kept the chain on, smart girl. She gave him a small smile as she brushed her hair out of her eyes. She mouthed the words 'thank you' before quietly shutting the door. Naruto lingered only a moment before he rushed around the corner and took the stairs two at a time.
Ever since he started working with the Snakes he had made an effort to drop off half if not all of his money at Iruna's house when he knew her sad excuse of a husband would most likely not be there. He didn't care for Iruna, not after what happened, but he did care for the children. Every time he slid the money under the door he wrote "For Katy and Thad" on the paper. He had no idea what the money went to, probably more alcohol for the bastard, but it felt good to slide the money under the door instead of just picking up the money that was slid to him.
He stopped at one of the client's door, he gave the signal that the Sand had arrived and within moments the hand off had been made. Naruto stuffed the money into his bag and left Iruna's apartment complex.
Naruto nearly flew through the rest of his drop offs, he was very used to his route by now. Naruto made it to his last stop a small hovel he had been at countless times before. Naruto gave the signal and opened his bag gripping the last bag of Sand he turned back ready and he waited. He waited, and waited until Naruto almost gave up and returned to the Snakes when suddenly the door creaked open.
Naruto was surprised as the door didn't reveal just a hand, it was slowly but surely opened all the way. A young man stood there looking intently at Naruto, his eyes were sunken in and his skin was filthy and sweaty. He didn't look very well, Naruto could tell something was wrong with his health, but his eyes were clear and bore a pained expression that gazed with what appeared to be desperate hope at Naruto.
"P-please, you're….you're with the Snakes?" his voice was raspy almost a whisper. Naruto looked around, he had never dealt with something like this before, and the clients were instructed to never open the doors all the way to keep the runners identity secret. Not knowing what to do Naruto hesitantly nodded while ever muscle in his body screamed at him to run, and run fast.
"I-I-I tried…I tried to talk you people before," the man was wringing his hands pathetically now obviously distressed and nervous, "I've quit, I'm going clean, I-I'm in withdrawals," he gave a weak smile and wiped the sweat that was collecting on his forehead away. "Y-you people keep coming, I can't…I can't afford it anymore I-I don't have the money, I have to stop I don't…I don't want the Sand, not anymore please, please tell them…"
Naruto didn't know what to say, he didn't know the…return policy for drugs, most clients made deals however on what Cobra called 'payment plans' where they gave a small amount of money each time they were given a hit of Sand. Cobra most likely still expected his money.
"I…" Naruto stammered he didn't know what to do, he didn't know what to say. This man was obviously distressed. The man fumbled around behind him and held out a few couple of crumpled dollars.
"H-here! Tell…tell them that's all I have, I can't, I don't ha-a-ave anything else, I don't, please stop coming I don't…I don't want any Sand I don't want any trouble," the man's brown eyes pleaded with Naruto.
Naruto took the money, knowing it was not even a tenth of what was expected. Slowly he nodded at the man, backing away slowly. The man breathed a sigh of relief and nodded back.
"Thank you, thank you-" he shut the door quietly and Naruto heard the scratches of the locks. Slowly Naruto turned around. There was no doubt Cobra would be furious. Sticking the money into his bag Naruto quickly rifled through, he was told every run how much money was expected, any surplus was allowed to be taken out as the runner's tip.
The man had been hundreds of dollars short of his expected payment, Naruto knew, making a quick decision he filled the delivery bag with his tip money that should cover the missing costs, now he just had to figure out a way to get the man off Cobra's delivery list. Naruto couldn't think about it now, he was behind on time and he had to make up for it. Thankfully he had avoided any run ins with the gang spies so he didn't have to be too sneaky to get back the headquarters.
Naruto took off in a run towards the runner entrance; it was on the opposite side of the exit so it took longer to get to. The entrance was not hidden but was under constant surveillance, heavily guarded and ready for all runners to come back to the headquarters. Since the runner's exit was concealed and sealed with cement and was a closely guarded secret, the runners naturally had to have a way back into the headquarters that was safe enough for rival gangs to know about in case the runner was being chased back.
Naruto didn't stop for a moment, racing he made his way around trash and splashed through the puddles of melted snow that filled the alleyways. Whipping around corners and hopping over obstacles he made a final dash to the runner's entrance. Banging on the door three times, Naruto pulled his bag from around his shoulder and waited. The entrance guards liked to make the runners wait huffing and heaving for air if they weren't being chased, the Snakes were nothing if not cruel.
Finally the doors swung open and Naruto walked into the Snakes headquarters, handing the bag off as soon as he stepped in Naruto waited as the guards forced him to searched and scanned for any possible weapon or bug that Naruto might have snuck in with him.
Feeling accomplished Naruto stripped the hoodie off his back swinging it from his hand he made his way back to his room for a well deserved rest. Naruto knew the headquarters for the Snakes was a concrete bunker type construction that was built underneath the city and on top of the sewers, thankfully Naruto had never been down to the lowest floor that was over the sewers, that's where the holding cells were and where plenty of horrors were rumored to be committed.
Naruto made the mistake of stopping for water in the mess hall. He no sooner took a cup of water and turned before Gaara was there, eyes blazing. Naruto was slightly taken aback, it wasn't like Gaara to show emotion, what had Naruto done now?
"What did you do?!" Gaara demanded. Naruto started walking to his room.
"You don't know?" Naruto asked him trying to keep the confusion out of his voice.
"I'm serious, what did you do out there?"
"If you don't know, and I don't know, I must've done nothing!" Naruto took another swig from the water cup. Gaara grabbed his shoulder and stopped him from walking on.
"This is no game, Naruto," Gaara said in a low dangerous voice. Naruto turned, Gaara never used his actual name. For the first time Naruto was able to read a little farther into Gaara's eyes, there was anger yes but below that Naruto glimpsed fear. That made Naruto afraid.
"I'm not playing, Gaara," Naruto frowned. "I don't know what you're talking about tell me, what's going on?"
Gaara glanced around them, satisfied they wouldn't be heard he turned back to Naruto.
"I don't know, all I know is that Cobra's watchers are back, and now Cobra is furious. They were watching you, Cobra wouldn't be angry over nothing, what happened you have to know," Gaara looked nervously behind him as if he heard someone.
Panic washed over Naruto, was it Katy? Had one of the vipers following him seen him leave the money and talk to Katy? If they had…what they do to her, what would they do to the whole family? Naruto shook his head, it had to be impossible they couldn't have seen it, they couldn't know…unless…
Pounding footsteps on concrete filled Naruto's ears, his eyes snapped up to see a black clothed man stop in front of him and Gaara. Naruto recognized him as one of the Snakes who attend Cobra. He stood stiffly before them his hands clenched, he regarded Gaara with a slight tilt of the head before he turned a glare to Naruto.
"Cobra wishes to see you, runner. Immediately. Come with me," the messenger turned on his heel and stalked back the way he had come from. Gaara shook his head and turned to look at Naruto before he muttered:
"I guess we're going to find out."
The trip to Cobra's room was a terrifying one, Naruto was sure that the messenger and Gaara could hear his heart beat because it was ringing in Naruto's ears. If Cobra had somehow found out about Iruna, Katy, and Thad would he hurt them? If he did it would be Naruto's fault how would Naruto live with himself if something happened to them, how could he tell Iruka he had caused what happened to them?
Whatever happened Naruto would deny it, he would pretend that he didn't know who they were he wouldn't say anything. If Cobra was going to punish him, he was going to do everything in his power to save Katy and Thad. Finally the messenger led them to the large double doors that opened into Cobra's room. He rapped once on the door.
Cobra's bodyguards swung the door open and the messenger stepped aside motioning for Naruto to step through. Naruto steeled himself and took a deep breath before moving. Gaara followed him receiving a withering glance from the messenger, Gaara only smirked in return. The doors swung shut behind them and Naruto flinched.
Cobra was sitting in a chair picking his nails with what looked like a snake fang. Very intimidating indeed, Naruto thought mockingly, but quelled the rebellious thoughts when he then thought of what position he was currently in. Cobra sat there for a long moments, seemingly not aware of their existence. Naruto fidgeted nervously and turned to see Gaara watching Cobra closely, trying to read the situation.
"I once had a runner," Cobra's speech was sudden and loud, Naruto jumped. "He was very fast, very smart. Too smart. He thought he could outsmart me, play me for a fool, cheat me. For years he took small pinches of each Sand bag, filling his own supply up and eventually selling them outside the gang for cheap to make a profit. Or at least he tried, he wasn't perhaps as smart as he should've been," Cobra set down the snake fang and bared his teeth in a grin as he looked up, "and wasn't quite fast enough to get away."
Naruto swallowed but maintained eye contact with Cobra. It was important that he appeared obedient but not scared, he didn't know what Cobra was talking about anyways, and maybe it was a misunderstanding? Misunderstandings in the Snakes, however, are deadly. Cobra stood from his seat and slowly walked towards them.
"Do you think you are very smart and fast, Naruto?" Cobra's eyes were calm on the surface but Naruto could tell a storm roiled beneath him. Before Naruto could think of what to say Cobra turned on Gaara, "and you dear Gaara, are you smart and fast? I do not believe I called for you at all."
"I wanted to see what was happening," Gaara shrugged apathetically, "Blondie is my recruit after all."
"I do not like to be cheated," Cobra was staring at Gaara when he said this, but Naruto was sure he was addressing him. "Do you know what I do when I feel cheated, blondie?"
"I did not cheat you, Cobra, I swear," Naruto tried to make his words as raw as possible to express his truthfulness.
"No? Then where are your tips, Snake?" Cobra hissed drawing dangerously close. Naruto blinked in surprise.
"I…I don't have them," Naruto stammered, Cobra grew closer, "how did I cheat you out of my…my tips?!"
"You cheated me out of MY money," Cobra snapped, "you should've instantly reported that cretin didn't pay me, and you paid him off, you tried to hide it with your own money. My vipers saw you, Naruto, you paid that man's wages with your own money—for what?! To buy silence to buy allies?!"
"N-no!" Naruto was completely taken aback, Cobra had his money his actions seemed genuine, "I was just covering…he couldn't pay he said, he didn't have the money I was just trying to make sure you got what you needed, Cobra!"
"Then tell me, oh generous one, oh gang member saint what did the man offer in return?" Cobra demanded.
"Nothing! Nothing I was just trying to…I knew you would want your money and you got your money," Naruto stepped back as Cobra advanced his eyes snapping with anger. "You got your money and I did nothing wrong!"
"Nothing wrong…" Cobra stopped his advanced and stared Naruto down until Naruto was forced to drop his gaze to the floor, "I will not have the cretins of this town thinking they don't have to pay. No one cheats Cobra, whether it was you or that fool. You will bring me to him," Cobra's face cracked in the most evil looking smile Naruto thought he had ever seen. "We will see if what you say is the truth, and if not…" Cobra turned to Gaara, "perhaps I will have my little red viper over here will deal with you."
Cobra turned his back to them, dismissing them with a wave of his hand. Gaara gripped Naruto under the elbow and steered him out of the room, Naruto winced from the savage pull Gaara gave him. Once the doors were safely closed behind them Gaara turned on him.
"Are you an IDIOT," Gaara paced back and forth in front of the door, "you're telling the truth right you're not so stupid to pull stupid shit after I warned you he was watching, right?"
"I didn't think I did anything wrong, I'm not stupid I just covered the lost cost! The man was going through withdrawals he couldn't pay I didn't…I didn't think-"
"Exactly you didn't think, we can spin this, we're fine," Gaara muttered moving down the hall, "you'll take him the house, Cobra will rough him up to send word to the people not to try the Snakes. You better pray that man isn't going to try to sell you out to spare himself some pain, Naruto or you better pray you're the fastest runner there's ever been."
Naruto was utterly bewildered, out of all his actions his didn't expect helping cover the lost expenses would be the one that damned him. Somehow Naruto had painted himself a traitor and he was still wasn't sure how. Cobra hated him yes, and Naruto wouldn't put it past Cobra to make an excuse to kill Naruto but right now Cobra needed runners more than anything he wouldn't do this out of petty dislike…would he?
Naruto waited with Gaara at the ladder, it was at least fifteen minutes before Cobra and three other men arrived each dressed in black, Cobra's clothes were made to look as if they were covered in black snake skin, Naruto noticed suppressing an eye roll, he was already in enough trouble as it were.
The trip to the house was strange to Naruto, Cobra did not travel quickly, he did not travel in the shadows. He was imposing and intimidating, stomping through the alleys flanked by his huge bodyguards, Naruto was sure that Cobra meant to be seen and meant to be feared. He wanted an audience, Naruto supposed, people to tell others the Snakes still meant business.
Naruto led them to the hovel.
"This is the place," Naruto went to step back but Cobra stopped him. He jerked his head towards the door.
"You started this mess," Cobra growled, "you can end it." Naruto swallowed his fear and hate towards this evil man before he nodded and turned back to the door. He hesitated for a brief moment before he pounded three times on the door.
There was a moment of silence and Naruto prayed to whatever god or deity or destiny there could be that the man was not at home, but Naruto heard the scraping of the locks and sullenly remembered that the world was a cruel vicious place and no such mercy could be found.
The door opened slowly and only a crack, the man recognized Naruto straight away and his eyes widened slightly. He hadn't seen the others.
"What are you doing here-"
The man didn't have the time finish the sentence before the door was kicked the rest of the way open sending him reeling backwards onto his floor. Naruto turned his eyes away as Cobra marched into the hovel, Cobra grabbed Naruto's arm and forcefully dragged him into the hovel with them, Gaara following close behind them.
Cobra snapped his fingers and his brutes obediently went to the sick man, grabbing him by the arms they lifted him and held him in the air. Cobra stalked forward and studied the man. The man whimpered and struggled to lift his head to look at them. Cobra yanked the man by the hair and pulled his face up to look at him.
"Do you know who I am, fool," Cobra seethed making sure his split tongue was visible. The man's eyes seemed hazy at first but they widened as realization sunk in.
"C-cobra, what…what did I-"
"You have failed to complete your payment," Cobra snapped cutting him off, "the Snakes are NOT to be cheated. Where is the money." The man looked wild, confused, and above all frightened.
"I told you-I-I told the runner I can't, I have no money Cobra please, I don't want…I don't want the drugs, I can't…" his mouth continued moving his mouth but no sound came out he was terrified to the core. Searching desperately the man looked around Cobra and saw Naruto again standing behind him with Gaara. His eyes looked on to Naruto's with a wild and savage desperation. "H-he! I told him, I don't…I can't have the Sand I didn't…I have nothing, Cobra I swear it, I gave it to you, a-a-ask him p-please…please don't hurt-"
"Silence!" Cobra backslapped the man across the face, "did this man give you something, did he demand something offer you something anything?!" Cobra gestured to Naruto. The man looked back at Cobra, he was visibly shaking now and blood trickled from his mouth where Cobra had struck him.
"N-no! I have nothing, nothing Cobra I swear it…I-I've done…I did nothing!"
Cobra humphed in what Naruto was sure was disappointment. With a flick of his finger he signaled the third bodyguard forward. The man ripped the small hovel apart, the cot lying on the floor he shredded, he knocked the walls bare of the pitiful shelves that hung there, the only possession the man had he either broke or stuck in a bag. When he was done he turned to Cobra and shook his head.
"It seems," Cobra mused looking into the man's eyes, "that you were telling the truth. You have nothing, you are nothing," Cobra spat in the floor and turned around to meet Naruto's eye. He grinned at Naruto, a sly dark grin. Slowly he turned his head back to the whimpering man.
"You may have well remembered you do not cheat the Snakes," Cobra said loudly his voice heavy and deep ringing through the room. "No one ever cheats Cobra." He waved his finger again at the bodyguards who instantly released the man after tossing him to floor.
"I'm s-s-sorry, Cobra, please, please…," the man writhed on the floor looking up in fear but also relief as the bodyguards stepped back to the doorway leaving Cobra who gazed down at the man in disgust.
"I know. I know you are sorry, as you should be," Cobra said in a mockingly kind voice, "and be assured that this mistake will not be repeated." The man nodded vigorously, agreeing and muttering his thanks to Cobra. Cobra stepped away from the man and towards the door, Naruto took a careful breath and stepped backwards to allow Cobra to walk past him.
Cobra stopped and looked at Naruto, his eyes glimmering in the fading sunlight. With a quick move of his arm Cobra pulled a gun from his back and turned back to the man. Naruto tried to move.
"NO-"
Two shots rang out, the deadly blasts of sound ringing in Naruto's ears. Dazed, the world went blurry as Naruto stared at the man's body still on the floor. Two red spots began to spread on his chest which only moments ago had been rising and falling in deep breaths of relief.
Cobra walked nonchalantly up to the body swing his arm still grasping the murderous gun in his hand. He raised his hand again and another shot rang out, this one in the man's forehead. Turning back to the Snakes at the door he shrugged.
"Just for good measure," he said calmly placing the gun behind him once more and moving to where Naruto was still standing stunned and unable to grasp what had just happened. "I hoped you learned your lesson, you little shit." Cobra whispered, "or next time it'll be you."
Cobra turned on his heel and stomped out of the hovel the bodyguards following in his footsteps.
Naruto seemed to have rooted to his spot on the floor. His floor, that man who had just been alive only moments ago…it was his own house he was just murdered in, because of Naruto, because of Naruto…that man laid on his own floor staining it with his own blood never to rise again.
Naruto didn't remember how Gaara got him out of the house, he didn't remember walking back to the Snake pit he only remembered lying in his bed haunted by the face, the shocked and still face, the face of a man whose name he didn't know but would be imprinted on his mind forever.
(A/N)
I hope you enjoyed it and if you read my A/N at the top maybe this chapter put the theme more into perspective. If you are wondering what's next, I do plan on writing the next part very soon and if you want to know where Sasuke is then you should probably read that next chapter!
Fair warning things only get darker from here.
Another warning, I love reviews they make me very very happy but if you plan on writing some unneeded hateful anonymous review I will probably just delete it, I hate it for ya but I'm not going to change or delete my story for you because...it's my story. :)
Thanks for reading!
