OCTOBER! Finally! My birthday is next Friday, but so is that stupid talent show. Jill and I both laughed when they told us because we don't really have talents we could show off like that. I can draw sure, but they won't let me show that off and I wouldn't want to anyway. I don't even know what Jill would show off, but I'm sure she's 'too cool' for talent shows. We were in Advisory now, just chillin as usual. It was actually pretty funny. The school had expected us to actually do things in Advisory now, like plan for college and stuff but Jill and I had all that handled. We didn't care about it in advisory, and then Chaelin was sure she wasn't even going to school in the U.S. so she has no worries at all. The three of us kind of just talked the whole period while the rest of the class did what they were told.
"So, this talent show," Chaelin asked. "We're not doing it." Jill says. "Why not? I'm sure you guys can do something!" "Nothing like you can," I say, "Why don't you go up and sing?" "I was planning to, that's what I was going to ask. You think if I sing in Korean they'll be okay with it?" "Why not?" Jill says. "If they say no, claim its racism. They'll let you do it." She laughs, "I'll try." "You can really sing, they'll let you." She laughs again with a small blush, "Thanks Piers. You two wanna be background dancers?" Jill chokes a little. "Background dancers?" "Well back in Korea, for the song I wanna sing, the rest of the band were the dancers. But they aren't here and I can see some rhythm in you two." "I'm in." Jill laughs. "Hey, anything for you," I smile. She rolls her eyes and smiles. So I guess we signed up to be background dancers, I have a feeling this is going to be a lot of work.
Well, I was right! We've been over her house everyday for the past week practicing this damn dance! So, the song she wants to use is the one song I didn't listen to with her, the Baddest Female. It's basically a rap and jesus christ the dance routine is difficult. I feel kind of stupid when I do it too, but I mean it's for Chaelin and maybe this will be the key to us getting together. Jill has been saying that she's actually thinking about it! Good signs! "So you're coming over again today right!?" Chaelin literally ran up next to me to ask that. "I guess so. We still need to get this down." "You're almost there, today's practice won't be that long." I shake my head with a small laugh. She's taking this way too seriously. I had a little surprise up my sleeve for that night though. I got her to agree to coming with me downtown to this small karaoke bar, that I just happen to know has Korean music, for my birthday. I'm pretty excited because I already have a song picked out that will be perfect. I know I'll look like an idiot because I don't speak Korean and I can't really sing but I'll do it if it means I can go out with her.

Piers, Chaelin and I are riding in her father's car to her house yet again. This dance has turned out to be more than I bargained for, but Piers is getting closer to her because of it and I'll tough it out for him. I do actually like this song, and the dance isn't too complicated and I'll look pretty bad ass on stage. Oh yeah, she has outfits designed for it. I'll be wearing a white doo rag around my face with a white long sleeve shirt and white booty shorts, while Piers has a black baseball hat with the letters GZB on them with a white tank top and black pants. She's wearing a pair of black sweatpants with a leather black top that left her stomach exposed and a gold chain around her neck. She's crazy, but I love her! It's like she's done this before because she had all the clothes in her house, like she brought them in the move! She's just a little insane.
"Thank you guys for helping Chaelin with this, it means a lot to us," Mr. Lee said. "Dad!" "What? They've been coming over almost everyday to prepare. The least you can say is thank you." "I say thanks all the time! Right guys?" "Not really," Piers laughs. She flares her nostrils and I laugh along with Piers and her father. "Don't worry. After this I'll do anything you guys want me too," she smiles. Piers might just take her up on that offer. I mean he won't let me take him out for his birthday and he won't tell me why! So, he better be doing something with her. I will not be stood up for anything other than that! Speaking of being stood up, Chris never replied to my letter. He definitely got it, they wouldn't be holding it from him would they? Man, I don't really want to talk about it.

Friday, my birthday and the big show! Jesus Christ, I'm nervous. I feel like if I mess up Chaelin will never speak to me again. She's very demanding when it comes to this stuff. I'm not saying I don't like it, cause she's kind of hot when she's like this but I mean still. It's seventh period, I have English with Jill and next period is the show. We're already changed, several of the guys in class were checking Jill out and whistling at her; she didn't seem to like it one bit. "You ready for this," she whispered. "Not at all," I laugh. "Chaelin's going to kill us." "Probably." The bell rings and we're off the the auditorium. Jesus, I'm going to throw up. Chaelin pops up next to me, in between Jill and I. "You guys'll do great! We're going to be third. They even said we could leave after our performance!" "Great." I say. "Something wrong Piers?" "Just nervous... Do I really have to rip the shirt open?" "Yes! That's the whole thing! You're hot and you're the captain of the football team! Girls should want you!" I laugh and shake my head, she's the only girl I need to want me.
I watch the first two performances from behind the curtain and it doesn't help to get me ready, but I need to do this for Chaelin. I can't let her down, and I keep repeating that to myself to get me through it. Its our turn, the three of us heading out and standing in a formation with Chaelin in the front and Jill and I behind her on either side. The music starts and Chaelin begins rapping; she sounds just as good, if not better than she did in practice. 'Nan nappeun gijibae. Nanan nappeun gijibae. Nan nappeun gijibae. Where all my bad girls at?' Jill and I start doing the dance we've been practicing for the past two weeks. She continues rapping and I just look out to the crowd and realize they have no idea what the lyrics mean. Chaelin had translated it for us, even offered to sing it in English but it didn't sound half as good as it did in Korean.
'Pakpak jallaga neun nae ssaneulhan hanmadi. Round round-' I rip my shirt to the beat like we'd discussed and I heard a few girls scream. No one I knew I'm sure. As we continue dancing I look out at the crowd once again and see Chris in full dress uniform. Chris?! He couldn't actually be here! I get really excited but continue with the dance the full way through. We bow at the end and run off backstage. "Jill, did you see-" She already started running out to him. Chaelin comes over to me, "Thanks for the help." "No problem," I reply with a huge smile.
I followed where Jill went, Chaelin right behind me. I watch as she runs and jumps into Chris' arms. They stay like that for a while, at least until Chaelin and I walk up. He lets her down and she takes a step back before Chris adresses us. "That was one hell of a performance," he laughs. "Thank you. Uh, who are you?" Chaelin had never met, and I'm pretty sure never even heard of, Chris before. "Chris Redfield. I'm Jill's boyfriend." He smiles. Boyfriend? I guess they made up. Jill looks up to him with a surprise. I guess she didn't know they made up. "This is Chaelin Lee, she moved her from South Korea for the year." "I thought that was Korean! Too bad I couldn't understand it." He laughs a little. She smiles back, "Nice to meet you." "So, your big day." Chris pokes my stomach. I raise an eyebrow with a laugh. "Any plans?" "Wait Chris, why are you here!?" Jill smiles. "Well, I got your letter first of all. I was going to write back but then I realized Piers' birthday was coming up. So I got the day off and I wanted to spend it with the two of you!" She smiles and hugs him again. "So, any plans?" "Well, Chaelin and I were going downtown to a karaoke bar. You two are welcome to join us." "Sure, I'll drive us." "Cool, I was planning on walking." I say honestly.
Chaelin had to get her jacket from her locker. I didn't think it was too cold yet, I only had a sweatshirt. So before she came back I wanted to fill Chris and Jill in on the plan. I didn't tell Jill about it earlier because I wasn't going to bring her, but now that Chris is here I kind of have to. He did come to see me, well Jill too but I think its really cool that he came for my birthday. "Guys, this is going to be special," I say. "What? What do you mean?" Jill asks. "I was going to ask her out! You weren't suppose to show up!" I motion to Chris. "Sorry, well what do you want us to do?" "Not laugh at me!" "What do you mean?" Jill raises an eyebrow. "I'm going to sing to her." "Oh my god," Jill's hand collides with her forehead. "No! It's a Korean song. It's called I need a Girl. It totally works! I saw the translation and it's perfect! She'll know what it means and I mean I'm not a terrible singer, right?" Jill shrugs. "It's sweet, I'll give you that." "Okay, so don't ruin it! And don't fucking laugh!" I point at Jill then shift to Chris. "We won't laugh Piers." They say in unison. They better not be lying.
Chaelin comes back with her coat and we head out of the school. "I think we did pretty good," she wraps her arm in mine as we walk. "You're damn right we did," Jill laughs. I smile at Chaelin before we reach Chris' car. I told him the address of the place and he drives us there. The drive was really just me and Chaelin talking about random things and Chris and Jill talking in the front about the Academy. We pull up and I rush inside, dragging Chaelin by the hand. "So, why here?" She asks innocently. "Singing isn't the only thing I like." "I know. I wanted to sing." "You? Sing? I didn't think you could." "Well I can't but no one is ever here, as you can see, so I can make a fool out of myself in private." She laughs. Jill and Chris walk in together.
We all take our seats at a round table with a red table cloth. It wasn't a fancy place, I wouldn't even say it was nice but they had Korean songs and the one I was going to use so... yeah. "So, who's going first," Chris asks. "I'll do it," Jill yells and stands up. She goes over to the machine and bends down to select a song. She sings 'Lost Cause' by Beck. A pretty depressing choice to start off with but whatever. She sounded decent and that's all that mattered I guess. Chaelin goes up next, choosing 'So Sick' by Ne-yo. I guess tonight was all about slow songs? I don't know. Chris' turn, and he decides to change the tempo. He chose 'You shook me all night long' by AC/DC. It was different, I'll give him that, but he was pretty bad. It was pretty fun since he was in uniform, singing off key but he was into it. We all made fun of him when he came to sit back down. A few strangers sing before Chaelin tells me I should go. "You are the one who wanted to come here!" So I go up and select 'Need a girl' by Taeyang.

I watch Piers pick the song and he starts singing along. He wasn't as bad as Chris, but he wasn't exactly good. I switch from Piers to Chaelin. At least she could understand what he was saying, even if Piers did butcher some words. She smiled as she watched him, it was pretty cute. Maybe a little corny, but still cute. The song ends and Piers steps down, walking to the table. Chaelin stands up and pulls Piers into a huge kiss when he comes back. "You have your girl." Aw, oh my god! That's so cute, and clever on Chaelin's part.
Normally I'd laugh Piers out of this place, but I promised not to. Chris took my hand, "Let's give them some alone time." We say goodbye to Piers and Chaelin before heading to the car. I didn't even realize we were leaving them stranded until it was too late. They could also take a bus, they're fine. We drive back toward my house. "Chris? What's going on?" "We're going back to your place? What do you think?" "I mean with us... our relationship. You were so angry before you left and you're back and you act like none of it happened?!" "I just... I understand now. I was too hasty. You want to live life first. I understand and I just want you to be happy Jill." "I was happy. I am happy now that you're back, and I... I want to marry you." "What...? You do?!"
I do. I really do, but later in life. Not now and not in four years. "I-I'll marry you, but when I'm twenty-eight." "Twenty-eight?!" He laughs a little. I nod. "I could do that... but Jill... I think we should take a break." "WHAT?!" "It'd be selfish of me to make you wait four years until we can have a real relationship again. I want you to date other men. Experience life. And when I get out of the Academy I'll come find you and I'll make everything you want come true." "So we're... we're breaking up?" "I guess so..." "But just for now right?!" My voice made it seem like I was scared. Okay, maybe I actually am scared. Chris was my first and only boyfriend. I don't want to date other guys. I want him. Making me wait isn't selfish, I'd do it willingly. He was perfect! Maybe I shouldn't think it, but he is. Sure, he cheated on me with Piers and maybe I forgave him too quickly but its only because I can't be without him. Its like a fucking drug, before him I was this strong independent girl and now I just feel like I need him. I don't want him to go. I'm a fucking mess, I need to straighten myself out. Do I want to marry him, or break up? Am I angry or not? I can't even really say. "We can at least share one more night together right?" He smirks, he got my hint. "Yeah. Yeah, we can!" I guess I'm not mad.
AN/ So yeah. Piers and Chaelin. I didn't ship them originally. I made Chaelin because I was obsessed with her real life counterpart then all the sudden I though about it and it happened. I don't know, but I like them so yeah. You might see the next few chapters revolving around Piers only because I don't know what to do with Jill. We'll see though.
