Several days have passed. Thor spoke with Odin about letting Loki roam Asgard on parole, with two guards present at all times. Loki is not allowed to leave Asgard, but he can go where he pleases within it.
For the most part, I accompany him wherever he is. Sometimes though, I prefer to sit quietly in the library and read the vast collection of books on every subject you can imagine.
I read mostly to take my mind off of my past. I am still wracked with guilt about that little girl, and I can't help but wonder what else I did during the three missing years of my life, or what made me wake up at all.
I also practice controlling my powers, with the help of Loki, and sometimes Sif and the Warriors Three. The four of them seem to have mostly forgiven Loki, but Thor is often absent from my training sessions.
Loki and I usually dine with Odin, Frigga, and Thor. Silence and food are all that pass between Loki and Thor. They never speak a word to each other, and I'm afraid it might be partially my fault, though I haven't said so.
Thor and Odin are polite to me, but Frigga has stepped in as my benefactress. She is continually teaching me the ways of Asgard. She also acts like a mother to me, doing my hair and telling me the latest gossip of all the Nine Realms. Well, eight of them anyways. I notice that she tries to avoid news of Earth.
"Why don't you ever tell me about Earth?" I finally ask her. She is in the middle of braiding my hair into a complex shape on top of my head. Her hands pause in their diligent work.
"Maddie…" Before she can continue, heavy knocking sounds on the door to my rooms.
"Mother! Something is happening in the courtyard! Several strangers just appeared!" That's Thor's voice. Frigga and I look in concern at each other. She lets my hair fall and pulls it into a simple ponytail, only taking about two seconds. She and I both rush over to my window.
I gasp and begin to hyperventilate. There, in the courtyard, stands Sinister, as well as several of his closest cronies.
