Sorry for the wait people! I'll try to get this out to you by today or tomorrow but in any case hope you guys enjoy this chapter. I'm really anxious to get some romance in this story! (P.S. there might be some feelings between a certain whiskered blondie and a flying Takigakure girl!)
Yagura's POV
My eye. Yagura thought as the senbon pierced his body. His eye had sent loads of pain signals to his brain. So much pain. His chakra control fluctuated and receded, causing the wall of water to crash onto the ground suddenly. He couldn't concentrate on anything but the unbearable pain that shot through his entire body. He could hear himself screaming in agony as it got worse and worse.
Something had pierced his right eye. His left eye was open and darting around, searching for something to help him. But there was nothing but two groaning bodies, one dark-haired man and one a blonde-haired woman, and a man in a mask.
"Noooooooo," Yagura groaned as the figure came closer. He tried to get up but the pain came back and he collapsed onto the ground again. His determination and willpower left him at that moment.
"You should've been a good boy. Should've just died like you were supposed too! Now I had to go through all this trouble just for my master."
The man removed his mask and through Yagura's one eye he could see who it really was. The transformation he began was horrifying.
Yagura watched through his one good eye as green spike began to protrude from the man's shoulders and legs. He ripped off his clothes and yelled out in satisfaction. Half of his body was pitch black with a single yellow eye that seemed to pierce my soul. The other half was completely pale with a single green eye and a devilish half smile. He was slim and monstrous. His hair was a sickly green looking color. Everything about him seemed like a nightmare. Something you would only see in your dreams. Not in real life.
But this was reality and reality was staring him in the face, ready to strike.
Naruto's POV
Naruto couldn't move. The suction cups on this Bee's tentacles were preventing him from doing anything. But it didn't matter. Naruto, for once, was done fighting. Now everything was eating at him. Hinata and Akamaru, Kiba in the hospital, the Akatsuki…
He remembered what he should be doing. Hunting down Kisame, that creepy shark-like guy that had killed Hinata and Akamaru. This was a distraction. This wasn't what he was supposed to be doing. He wasn't supposed to be in the slimy arms of some freak with an injured girl in another tentacle.
He was supposed to be getting his revenge.
A shiver ran down his spine. Revenge? He had never called his decision something like that. Now that it had dawned on him he suddenly saw a mental image of himself fighting Sasuke as a child. How he had failed and Sasuke had sunk deeper into the darkness. The other times he had met Sasuke, in the Land of Iron, at Orochimaru's Hideout.
He had failed time and time again. Now he was doing the same thing Sasuke was doing. Chasing after the enemy. The bane of his existence. Was it futile? Was it wrong?
But Kisame was no Itachi. Madara had explained it all. The truth behind Itachi's defection and what he had done to protect and save his brother. Itachi was pure-hearted and a good person in the end. He always had been. Kisame had murdered Hinata and Akamaru in cold blood just to get to Naruto. He had hurt his companions all because of Naruto.
He knew it was the wrong time for everything. The world of Shinobi was at war. Madara and Kabuto had undoubtedly joined forces to capture all nine jinchuuriki. But it he couldn't stand that Kisame would get away.
"Hey, Foxface." Bee's voice brought Naruto from his thoughts and into the real world.
"What?" he replied rudely.
"I'm at my limit. I don't think I can go on any longer." He explained. He looked tired already. There were dark bags underneath his sunglasses and his leg was bleeding again. Naruto felt a pang of guilt at the sight of his leg, he had thrown that first kunai after all. You wouldn't happen to be able to sprout and tails would you?" He asked.
"No, I don't have tentacles nor do I want any." Naruto said sarcastically.
"But...you're a jinchuuriki aren't you?" Bee said incredulously.
"Kurama is your beast. The Nine-Tails."
"Kurama? That's his name?" Naruto almost felt like laughing. But then again he never really got to know the fox. It only talked when it wanted to be freed or if he wanted to borrow some power.
"So you are a jinchuuriki, well then go ahead, sprout some fox tails! Get us a couple miles further!" Bee insisted.
"Well, it's not that simple. I mean I'd love to but…" Bee groaned in annoyance. Naruto continued, blushing slightly. "I don't know how."
Bee threw his hands in the air and let out a sigh of annoyance. He looked like he was about to go on a rampant curse streak. But he remained silent.
"Well, we're going to need to find some shelter somewhere first." Bee said, looking first at the girl then around the area. They were still in the forest but it seemed less dense and lush here. The moonlit sky shined down on their faces and made it a little bit easier to see, rather than in the forest where the trees covered their heads and surrounded them in darkness.
Maybe they could make a lean-to out of leaves and sticks around here. Or see if they could find something further away from here. Naruto wished he still had his pack with all his food and supplies in it. But in all the confusion he had lost it. His stomach rumbled as well, adding on another problem to their rapidly increasing list.
"We have to worry about food and water, and all this other crap." Naruto informed Bee.
"Yeah, I know. Especially for Yugito, she's really in danger." Bee said, stealing another glance at the girl laying on the ground. She was laid gently on the ground, her face looking up. Her arms had several scratches and there were marks on her legs and neck where something had obviously strangled her. She looked dead, but unfortunately for her she wasn't.
"Listen, Foxface, no more games. You're the only one here who's strong enough to walk and fight. Which means you're the most valuable. My leg is obviously preventing me from going any further and Yugito won't be waking up anytime soon."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know, gotta go find food and water and shelter for all you guys."
"See you're smart. I knew you would catch my drift, bro. Anyway, hurry up and get going. I'd really like to live to see the sunrise tomorrow."
Roshi's POV
"Corrosion Style: Supernova!" Roshi yelled at the remaining ANBU who hadn't been burnt or rendered unconscious. His hands which were covered by molten rock and lava created a big ball of burning fire. It was like he had captured a miniature version of the sun in his own hands. He jumped up into the air, yelling like a monkey. he then threw the ball of fire at the spot where he had just been standing.
As soon as it hit the ground it exploded in a combination of smoke, flames, magma, and blinding light. Roshi was blown back by the sheer force of the impact. He flew even higher into the air and backwards. He flipped several times creating a nauseating effect. When he finally hit the ground he could barely stand. He groaned in pain. He had hit the ground with his back and being a forty-five year old man, it hurt. A lot.
His abnormally sized lava hands had disappeared and so had the power he had gotten from Son. He slowly rose, ignoring the pain as best he could and rested his back against a tree trunk. The blast had surely put distance between him and the ANBU. If it didn't, well Roshi had bought enough time for the other three jinchuuriki to escape. The pain would go away shortly, being a jinchuuriki meant a faster healing process which did help on several past occasions.
He took a deep breath and thought about what was going on in Iwagakure. How his family was doing. It would be awhile before he returned to them but it was for a good cause. This was his duty. To round up all the jinchuuriki and fight for the greater good. Against the enemy.
But at what cost? How many lives would be sacrificed for this "greater good." He hoped he hadn't killed any of the ANBU or the leaf shinobi. He really did, they were only following orders and they didn't really deserve death. They had families, wives, children, mothers, fathers, just like Roshi.
He sighed and got to his feet once the pain had receded enough that it allowed movement. He limped in the opposite direction of the explosion and tried to use Son's juubi link. Using his connection to the other tailed beasts he could locate their jinchuuriki.
As he made his way through the dark forest, tripping over tree roots and looking desperately for some source of food, he came across a cliff. It was sort of circular, the cliff. At the center of it was a waterfall that poured into a giant lake. There was uneven land that surrounded the lake as it opened up into a steady stream that went down south. Roshi's eyes spotted a trio of figures moving into an open cave. It was a long way down but there was no more forest which was a good sign. Roshi went to the edge of the cliff and looked down. His chakra was low but there was enough that he could run down and not fall to his death.
But then again, the odds were never really in a jinchuuriki's favor.
