Sorry for the pretty long wait. Got a new computer! It's a laptop, so I'm learning how to use it. Still a bit tricky, but it's alright for now.
Here's the next Chapter! Hopefully you guys enjoy it~
Haunting of Jack Frost
Chapter 4
Pitch had wondered the dark woods at night because he was in the mood to think to himself alone, hopefully unseen. Over the days, no fear has been spilling out of children, which wasn't good; for him anyway. The only constant fear he has been feeling was from the young, new Guardian Jack Frost. Fear has been overwhelming him several hours of both night and day. Pitch was both happy yet concerned. There was an unhealthy amount of fear pouring from the boy. If he wasn't so weak and an enemy to the Guardians, he would go check on him. But, knowing them, they were probably over there watching over him. Why did he need to go check the twerp? He was perfectly fine with them, but Pitch had a strange feeling he wasn't. Maybe the fear that was going on was far from their own control, probably his own as well. Grunting at his soulless bodies' desire, he was going to end up checking on the boy more often than he thought he would if he started now.
As he started on his merry way slowly through the forest and towards the North Pole, golden sand had swept by his eye sight, causing him to pause in his steps. He sighed, glancing back to see his golden little rival: the Sandman. The Sandman seemed agitated as he usually would when he believed Pitch had done something wrong, so Pitch watched over his golden head as symbols formed. A snowflake appeared, and then was the image of Pitch himself, then an evil looking Jack Frost before all the sand went down. Pitch quickly rose his hands up in defense, knowing he didn't do anything.
"Don't look at me Sandman. I haven't done anything to the boy." Pitch tried to persuade, but the golden spirit wasn't having it.
Sandy quickly formed whips and smacked them in Pitch's direction. Pitch defensively dodged each one, not having the strength to fight back with his own dark magic. "Sandy, please! I'm just as concerned as you are!" Pitch said before disappearing into the shadows of the forest around them.
Sandy looked around, his glare softening as his temper lowered. A golden question mark flew over his head, and out came Pitch from the darkness once again. Sandy kept his whips ready just in case Pitch tried to do anything funny.
"I'm serious Sandman. There are unhealthy amounts of fear coming off the boy that aren't mines! Something else is causing that pain and misery to that disaster you call a boy." Pitch had replied, brushing himself off as he looked at his rival.
Sandy seemed to calm down, evident by his whips disappearing in a golden sparkle before disappearing completely. Sandy put another question mark, then a snowflake, pretty much asking how they were going to fix Jack.
Pitch thought carefully, soon sighing gently.
"I could go over there and check what he fears. Maybe then we'll know what's wrong." He said, soon waiting for a reply from the small golden sand spirit.
Sandy looked at him, completely unsure of the choice, but seeing Pitch was probably the only step to knowing what was wrong with Jack , the golden spirit made a motion of a sigh and waved his hand, signaling the shadowy figure to follow. Pitch, almost surprised, nodded and followed the ancient golden male back to the North Pole, ready to see what he was going to deal with.
The other Guardians were assumingly freaking out at the commotion going on as they sent the Yeti – Phil – to deal with the turmoil of a boy upstairs. Dark snarls and loud inhumanely growls could be heard upstairs. The others were worried for not only Phil, but Jack too. They have no idea what had happened, and with his staff still upstairs in his room, who knew what he would do. Bunny was a nervous wreck all over, fur bristled in fear; Tooth was biting at her nails in anxiousness; and North was pulling on his beard in deep contemplation, pulling a bit too hard on his beard at every snarl and groan coming from upstairs. They were waiting for Sandy to return, for he told them that he went to go check out the woods. They hoped he returned soon. Their prayers were answered when a knock came from the main door of the Workshop and in came Sandy, but Pitch as well.
The others stood up at alert, ready to fight until Sandy quickly raised his hands in defense and sent over an image of Pitch helping Jack. They calmed down, but soon North came in with slightly uneasy interest. "How do ve know if he could help Jack?" He asked, and Pitch abruptly answered North's question.
"I am the Nightmare 'King' North. Of course I'll be able to figure out what's wrong with the child. Now, where is he?" He asked. Pitch glanced at Bunny and smirked, knowing the Guardian was scared and fearful for the newest Guardian, which made Bunny only growl at him in annoyance, but leaving the dark spirit alone.
Pitch looked around for the winter sprite before Phil quickly ran down the stairs and over to North, fearful and babbling on over and over to North about what was going on upstairs. Knowing what Phil had said, North worriedly looked at the stairway. Everyone soon followed his gaze, staring towards the staircase as well.
Just at the end of the staircase was Jack. His eyes were wide and dark compared to his original baby blue eyes. Pitch stared at the boy, not so fazed in appearance, but completely worried in the inside. Pitch slowly moved to Jack, reaching for him. "Jack, are you o-," He was cut off by Jack growling loudly and inhumanely before running past him on all fours, jumping up on the couch in the room before quickly climbing up onto where the fireplace was, hissing angrily.
Pitch looked at Jack, staring into his eyes and gasped. He looked at Sandy with complete shock, which was what Sandy seemed to be worried about. Pitch had seen exactly what he had seen. "The bloody hell does tha' look mean, mate?!" Bunnymund spoke up; eyes angry in agitation. Pitch narrowed his eyes back at the Pooka but answered him anyway.
"There is no sign of that boy in those eyes. Whatever, or whoever is controlling or possessing his mind has taken complete control of him. Wherever that boy is in that body, he isn't here now. We are dealing with something even beyond my reach." Pitch had explained and watched the unknown entity inside Jack's body before him, soon walking to it, but stopping a few feet away. Everyone stayed quiet, watching.
"Who are you?" Pitch asked hesitantly. What came after was a dark, distorted voice that was far beyond Jack's ability to speak, scaring everyone who listened.
"I am the one with many names…" Said Jack, his head tilting to one side abnormally.
"What is the one you are most common with?"
"Κακό…." The entity using Jack's body grinned very wide, soon dropping down from its high point onto the ground, soon standing straight on his two feet. The others looked at each other, wondering what that name was supposed to represent. North spoke up, for he lived very long and was pretty fluent in Greek. "Κακό means 'evil', or 'mischievous'." North explains, causing the entity to laugh cruelly.
"That's right old man. It means evil, but in this case, I'm after this mischievous little boy…" The entity laughed, soon slowly moving pass them, soon running into the kitchen.
They all followed after the child-like body being used, soon pausing as the entity was holding a knife to the wrist of the body it was using, grinning like an insane person.
"DON'T COME ANY CLOSER!" It screamed, pressing the knife against the wrist roughly. The other's looked worried, but Bunny looked determined to help. The Pooka quickly threw a boomerang at the spirit. Moving out of the way, the entity laughed and raised the knife ready to slice Jack's wrist, but the boomerang returned, smacking the knife out of the hand it was held in and returning to the paws of the owner. Bunnymund grinned, and soon Pitch quickly moved forward, grabbing the boy's head with dark sand wrapped around his own hands. The entity screamed with a layered and devilish voice, struggling at the hands that bonded him at the head.
The screams went on for a few long minutes before it went quiet, both Jack's body and Pitch's body fell, breathing in heavy pants. The others ran over, Pitch limping up to stand once more. "The entity will be gone for now, but it will make its return after a while." Pitch said, soon watched the others run over to Jack, who once got his breath back, cried heavily.
Bunny helped the young Guardian up, trying to make sense of what the young sprite was trying to say through his tears. When none of them could decipher anything, Bunny was only able to hug the younger spite close, reassuring him that he would be alright. Jack cried into the furry chest of his companion, and soon Bunny helped the young boy up to his room to retrieve his staff and treat him at his Warren for now. While the three taps of a big foot turned into silence, the three remaining looked at the Dark King curiously, almost in surprise.
"What have you done?" Tooth asked in curiosity. Pitch sighed and simply stood up from his sitting position.
"I believe I simply pushed the dark entity to the farthest reach of Jack's mind. Hopefully it stays in there long enough for us to find out what's wrong. I won't be surprised weird things might happen around him as it tries to surface once more…" Pitch explained, soon looking at the faces of the surprised Guardians. He looked between the three, narrowing his golden eyes. "What?"
"You… care for Jack, don't you?" North asked, intrigued by the discovery.
Pitch groaned, rolling his eyes. The only answer he gave was a dark glare before walking off to a dark corner and disappearing into the shadows that hid there, leaving the three remaining Guardians by themselves.
North looked at the other two, soon signaling them to follow him to the Workshop's library room. "Come. Ve must find evil entity in library." North ordered to his companions, soon heading towards the library upstairs with a concerned Tooth fairy and a very worried looking Sandman.
Bunnymund had made Jack comfortable in his Warren, allowing him into the house like structure he had created a while back. He had told Jack he could rest and relax and do whatever he pleased, but to make sure if he was going to leave the house, not to mess up with any of his stuff with ice, especially his egglets that wondered about. Jack agreed with a blank dark stare before resting on the nest bed Bunny slept in. Bunny hadn't noticed the strange change in demeanor, only believing Jack was just tired from crying and all the extra stuff happening and closed the door, soon leaving the house to start on painting some of the little eggs, hoping to get them all done way before his day came back around. Hopefully he was able to finish them all in time, like last year, but that was with Sophie and the others. Now it was just him. Either way, he had to get them all complete.
Everything seemed to be going well, until the sound of someone running around and laughing came through the still and quiet air. Bunny looked back at the home he had created and saw Jack laughing and running away from something that was chasing him, but it never came into view. Bunny narrowed his eyes, grabbing for his boomerang in anxiousness of seeing an intruder as he got up and walked into the home. He moved towards the room Jack was in and slowly reached for the doorknob to the room. He soon opened the door, quietly peaking in to see what had been going on…
To be continued…
Hope this Chapter was good. Had to watch a few Horror movies and read some horror books to get some inspiration.
