Exorcism
Chapter 5
Previously…
Everything seemed to be going well, until the sound of someone running around and laughing came through the still and quiet air. Bunny looked back at the home he had created and saw Jack laughing and running away from something that was chasing him, but it never came into view. Bunny narrowed his eyes, grabbing for his boomerang in anxiousness of seeing an intruder as he got up and walked into the home. He moved towards the room Jack was in and slowly reached for the doorknob to the room. He soon opened the door, quietly peaking in to see what had been going on…
…Continued
As Bunny had opened the doors to his room, Jack had stopped what he was doing, a blue blanket wrapped around his neck in a cape. He blinked, looking at Bunny with a surprised expression, but that didn't stop Bunny's curiosity and confusion. There was no one in here. Jack was the only one in the room. Bunny glanced around, hoping to at least see one of the kids hiding somewhere, but soon his attention went back to Jack once he realized it was just Jack in here. He couldn't smell or hear a kid anywhere for miles.
"You okay, frostbite?" Bunny asked as he moved towards the winter pixie, moving slowly just in case Jack was going to spaz like he had done the last time he moved towards him. Jack simply shrugged, nodding.
"Yeah, I am."
"Oh. Okay..."
Bunny spoke warily, as if not sure to believe the young Guardian yet. He didn't seem all out of it, so maybe he was just trying to mess with him? That seemed like the most plausible reason behind the strange happening.
Bunny walked to Jack, soon stopping in front of him.
"So, who were you playing with?"
"No one."
"So…, you were here by yourself?"
"Yup."
Bunny stared at Jack, almost wondering if he had truly gone insane this time, but then heard the closet in his room creek open slightly.
Jack looked even more surprised as his head also turned towards the closet the same time as Bunnymund had looked over. He visibly gulped as the Pooka moved towards the closet, reaching towards the closet's door.
Jack quickly reached over, grabbing at his arm and trying to pull him away.
"No! Don't go in there!" He warned, but Bunny wasn't having it.
Bunny reached the closet door, opened it, and peered inside. With all the things going on, he expected to see some other spirit that had somehow gotten in, or a child, but instead saw a stack of tiny unpainted eggs stashed into the closet. He stared in a slight baffled expression and watched the stack slowly tumble to the ground, the tiny egg's little legs popping out in order for them to try and stand up, which were to no avail as they all rolled around on top of each other.
Bunnymund looked at Jack in slight confusion. Jack looked embarrassed, his cheeks showing a slight blue tint as he held his downcast gaze. Bunnymund sighed, walking over to Jack and resting a hand on his shoulder. Jack was acting like a child that had just been caught doing something they didn't think they were supposed to do. It was silent for a few seconds before Bunny actually spoke to the young boy.
"Jack. Stop hiding my googies."
He said, watching the poor eggs desperately try to get up. The ones that did get up tried their best to help their still down comrades, also to no avail.
"Sorry… I like playing around with them. They're really small and stuff… I thought you would be angry if you saw me messing with them." He said with an embarrassed tone, but he looked up with slight surprise as his snow-white hair was ruffled up.
"It's alright, mate. You can play with them. Just tell me when you will next time, alright?" He suggested.
Jack looked up with a bright smile and nodded.
"Alright!"
Bunnymund smiled, ruffling Jack's hair again. He soon walked past Jack and headed out the room, but this time, left the door open.
Suddenly, the sound of banging can be heard.
Bunnymund paused with wide eyes, shocked at the sudden sound.
The sound of the banging came again.
Bunnymund quickly ran back in order to catch what was happening.
Meanwhile…
In the North Pole, North and Tooth {still telling her fairies to pick up teeth and bring them to her Palace} desperately looked through many books in North's large library that could give them more information on how to fix the problem they were going through. And of course, with them was Sandy, who had found a book that might help them – and of course, he was being ignored once again.
Sandy narrowed his eyes at the two Guardians and glared. He sighed silently. He had to get their attention somehow, but there were no elves in here. North never allowed the little things into his library. Looking around, Sandy caught a rather large book sitting atop a table and knew that would do the trick. He floated over to it and picked up the large book with his sand. Raising it rather high, he soon dissipated his sand and let the book slam against the table, causing the two other Guardians to quickly turn their heads in his direction. Sandy had narrowed eyes and raised the book he had found in their direction. He wanted them to read it. North and Tooth hurried over and Tooth took it into her hands. Tooth smiled.
"Thank you, Sandy. What did you find inside?" She asked.
Sandy simply showed a picture of the entity inside of Jack disappearing and a happy looking Jack afterwards. North ran his hand down his beard.
"So, you are saying book can help us find way to rid entity within Jack, yes?" North asked which he received a nod from the mute Guardian. Tooth and North looked at each other before looking at the book. There was no title on it. Tooth fluttered over to a table and opened up the cover. The title within read: "The Exorcising of An Unwanted Entity". Tooth seemed confused.
"Wait, what does this do?" She asked, looking at North, who seemed to know what it means.
"That means we do Exorcism on Jack to rid entity from his body, mind, and soul." North explained, taking the book into his big hands and scanning through it.
"There are different stages of possession. Apparently, Jack is in the last stage. The actual Possession. He has been taken over completely and entity will do anything in its power to destroy boy from inside out." North said in a worried expression, looking between Tooth and Sandy who wore the same one.
"We must get to Jack before the entity gets to his soul. It might even end up crippling him to the point he disappears." North warned, holding onto the book and soon hurried out of the library. Tooth and Sandy quickly followed after him.
As they headed over to the sleigh so they could hurry over to Bunnymund's Warren, Pitch had returned. Sandy, still wary of him, glared in his direction, but Pitch simply gave a light smirk and wave of his hand.
"Don't mind me. I've only come to help. Afterwards, however, I'll be going back to my old ways of destroying you. For now, you guys need me." He stated, his smile dropping before he disappeared back into the shadows, already on his way there.
North nodded in Tooth's and Sandy's direction and all three of them quickly got onto the sleigh. Passing the book to Tooth so she could hold onto it, North took hold of the reigns and snapped them down. The reindeers quickly hurried forward, through the tunnel, and out of it, flying forward into the sky and towards what seemed to be nothing. North pulled out a globe from his jacket's pocket and whispered their destination. Soon, a portal appeared and they were swooped into it, suddenly appearing at Bunny's Warren. They soon swopped down through the force field that surrounded it and hit down gently onto the grassy ground. They all got off and looked around for the two, but it was completely silent…
Bunny had scrambled into the room to see Jack banging his head against the closet door, well, more like walk into it. Bunny blinked. That was sudden. He was fine a minute ago. Bunny could only watch for a few seconds until he sighed in annoyance and walked over to Jack. He pulled him away from the closet and held him by the shoulders. He looked at the closet and suddenly felt an eerie sensation coming from it.
He shuddered.
There was something definitely wrong. Bunny gulped and reached for the closet door but stopped when he heard the sound of something landing outside. He stared towards the window and walked to it, looking out and spotting North, Tooth, and Sandy. Pitch had also soon appeared. Grumbling under his breathe about the presence of the Nightmare King, he looked back at Jack and saw that he had already opened the closet. Coming out of the closet was a tall, dark figure with pointed fingers. Jack simply stared up at it his hands reached up to it in order to grab for it. Bunny was ready to grab Jack and run, but for some reason his body had become frozen in place and he was unable to move. He watched in shock and terror as Jack was engulfed into the Shadow and started to laugh. The laughing soon stopped and he slowly looked back at Bunnymund with a crazed and scary look in his eyes. Bunnymund gulped and the moment he got feeling in his feet, he dodged a couple of icicle spears headed in his direction. He soon ran out to join the others outside.
The others were waiting for any sound to come, and when it did, it was the sound of feet hitting ground with speed unmatchable. They looked over to see a rather baffled and shocked Bunnymund. They didn't have time to ask what was wrong until they saw Jack standing at the window and grinning abnormally wide with pupils unfathomably small. He saw them, and they saw him. But he seemed to be staring intently at Bunnymund. The other four stared between Jack and Bunny, Bunny staring back at Jack with what seemed like terror in his eyes. His chest was heaving rather fast. Pitch could tell he was fearful, but probably for the wrong reasons.
As the four returned their gaze on Jack for the last time, besides Bunny who looked like he was about to pass out, they saw that Jack had moved. He was now outside of the house and walking towards them. His aura was dark and his grin was growing wider. His eyes were widened as he formed icicles around himself, pointed in their direction. Tooth gasped. They had to fight him. Fight him into submission, but how could they bring themselves to do such a thing?
Pitch stepped forward. He glanced back at them.
"You better find the solution in that book quickly, I'll try and bring him into submission." He volunteered, and before anyone could protest, he had already formed his scythe and slashed down at Jack.
Jack had dodged with ease and shot several icicles in his direction, causing Pitch to lose his footing rather quickly. He got up and was met with golden whips passing by him and grabbing onto Jack's arms and feet. Jack glared at the one who had done it and Pitch didn't have to turn around to know Sandy had done it. He used his own sand to create a chair behind Jack, and Sandy – with a lot of struggling, was able to pull Jack down onto the chair and strap him to it. The two of them knew that it wouldn't hold Jack for very long, seeing as how the chair and golden restraints were slowly being consumed by ice. Pitch and Sandy looked back at the three remaining Guardians to see that they had already found the page. Walking forward, North stopped in front of Jack and held the young Guardian's head.
Jack snapped at North angrily, not liking this and North was forced to speak from the book without looking at Jack. The way he was right now pained him.
"With the powers of Manny, I pray that the being within the soul of this boy is banished. Let the light of Manny raise the light from his spirit and help him fight off the entity that holds his mind hostage. Entity Kako, I banish you to the depths of the Earth and away from those that you will bring harm to!" North preached.
Jack screamed and spirals of air and dark mist formed around him and North. The ground shook and the others ran over to keep Jack more still than he already was. Jack's eyes were glowing, but North had to continue.
"By the Power of Manny and everything we believe in, the kids believe in, what I believe in; Kako the entity, release you're grip on this boy and perish forever!" North yelled, and soon everything went into turmoil.
Everyone was pushed back and Jack screamed with what seemed to be two different voices, his own mixed with another darker pitch. The spiral around him grew more intense and soon enough, he flashed a white light and he fell silent.
A dark shadow dashed away from the group, but Pitch quickly followed suit and grabbed for it. The shadow screeched and clawed at Pitch, but Pitch used his own shadows to consume the entity, since it was made from the same material he controlled. Pitch silently moved towards the group as they tried to wake up Jack.
"Jack, Jack please wake up…" Tooth said worriedly.
"Yeah, mate, wake up." Bunny patted at Jack's face, but the young Guardian was still.
Pitch reached over and touched Jack's neck, waiting. After a few quick seconds, he pulled his hand away.
"He's breathing." Pitch announced, and that created a sigh of relief by the others. Sandy removed the slight frozen golden sands from around Jack's wrists and ankles and Bunny picked up Jack from the chair. The chair Pitch created disappeared as he disappeared into his own shadow.
That was the last time today they were going to see him.
The four Guardians got back onto the sleigh and rode back to the North Pole, Jack safely in Bunny's arms. Once back at the North Pole, they set Jack to rest on the bed in the room North provided for him when he came over.
They all waited desperately for Jack to wake up, sitting on chairs surrounding his bed.
Hopefully he woke up soon.
