He hit the ground. Still standing. Arms still wrapped around Neji like a viper. He felt himself start to pitch sideways. He unwrapped one arm from Neji and reached over to catch himself, but once again, he didn't have to as Diamond was at his side. His hand gripped Diamonds fur as he held on. Neji stirred and dropped to the ground on his knees. Neji turned himself around to face Shikamaru. Diamond looked at Neji. Neji nodded to Diamond. Shikamaru straightened back up. Diamond slowly walked forward and stopped in front of Neji.
Diamond slowly lowered himself to the ground. Shikamaru had no choice but to do the same. He found he could use Diamond as a sort of cane. As he was slowly lowered to the ground, he saw Neji was shaking. Finally, he was on his knees. Shikamaru removed his hand from Diamond's back.
Diamond stood back up and walked to Neji's back and laid down. " Why are you shaking?" asked Shikamaru. " I can't say why until we're back at the compound." said Neji. Shikamaru had a question that had been nagging at the back of him mind for quite awhile he proceeded to ask, " Why haven't you used Byakugan yet?" " Because when I go blind, the chakra is constantly flooding the back of my neck. Causing the vain in the back of my neck to rip and tear. Because of the trauma done, I can't use it for about a month after I get my sight back." said Neji. Shikamaru was in shock. " Than how do you do missions?" asked Shikamaru. " I still do them, it's just my sensei doesn't ask me to use it often. He doesn't take advantage of having a Hyuuga on his team." said Neji.
Shikamaru could tell Neji trusted his sensei with his life. He was glad Neji had someone to rely on other than him. Though he didn't mind. " Are you OK with me for having to rely on Diamond for help?" asked Shikamaru. " I'm fine with it. Sooner or later one or both of us are going to have to have Diamond help us when we're injured on a mission." said Neji.
" When I get back I'm going to have you sign the summoning contract for Diamond." said Neji. " Your going to do what? I thought only one person could have a summoning contract with their designated summon." said Shikamaru. " Yes, that's very true. Except if the summon wants to accept another person on to their contract, they can." said Neji. Shikamaru sat there, shocked to the core over what he'd just heard.
Shikamaru grabbed Neji and hugged him tight. " Thank you for trusting me. Thank you Diamond for allowing me to share you with Neji." said Shikamaru. Neji hugged him back. After five minutes they let go. Diamond got up and walked over to Shikamaru's side and laid down. Shikamaru's hand drifted to his fur and stroked him. " Your welcome and Diamond loves you. By the way, work on your chakra control you need to be able to let it out in small bursts." said Neji.
Shikamaru nodded. " I hate to ruin the sweet moment between you two, but we have to get back." said Neji. Shikamaru nodded and leaned on Diamond. Diamond slowly rose to a standing position. Once standing Shikamaru straightened up. He sent out a chakra burst and Diamond started slowly walking forward.
Suddenly Diamond sent out a chakra burst. It sent Shikamaru flying. Diamond appeared underneath Shikamaru. He grabbed on. Diamond landed and took off. As Shikamaru saw his katana come into view, he realized where Diamond was going. As he saw his katana was embedded in the tree, he wondered how he was going to get t it. Diamond wiped that thought from his head. Diamond ran up the the side of the tree. Shikamaru gripped Diamond's fur with one hand and reached out with the the other. As his hand gripped the hilt of his katana, he was never so glad to have met Diamond. Diamond pushed off the tree with his paws. Sending him into a back flip. He landed and took off once again.
