Once he saw it was Gai, he lead the way into the compound. Once inside, Gai walked over to the bed in the corner. When he tried to put Neji down, Neji tightened his grip. Gai slowly let his chakra wash over Neji, soothing him. Gradually, Neji loosened his grip. Gai put him down and covered him with the light blanket. He let his hand rest on the part of Neji's forehead that wasn't covered by his headband.
Gai than removed his hand and turned around. He nodded in Hiashi's direction and walked out. Hiashi sat there watching his nephew sleeping peacefully. He was slightly annoyed. He didn't like not knowing things. He knew there was more to Neji than meets the eye. And apparently, the same goes for the Nara. He figured he'd think more on it when it was morning and hunkered down in the corner for the night.
It was just a little past dawn, when Neji was awoken by a hand shaking his shoulder. He opened his eyes and saw the blurred form of Shikamaru standing over him." What are you doing here? It's five o'clock in the bloody morning." said Neji. He was not a morning person. Shikamaru chuckled at the grouchy look on his friends face. " I need you to come with me. You can sleep on the way." said Shikamaru. " Alright, I'll come, but you owe me." said Neji. Shikamaru's arms slipped around Neji's shoulders and underneath his knees. He lifted him up and settled him against his chest.
Shikamaru turned around and walked out of the main Hyuuga compound. Once outside, he started walking at a slow, steady pace. " So what happened after I left last night?" asked Shikamaru. Neji wrapped his arms around Shikamaru's neck and snuggled into his chest before he answered. " Well after I dropped you off, Gai sensei carried me home. I fell asleep on the way." said Neji.
" Ah." said Shikamaru. " Where are we going?" asked Neji. Shikamaru just smirked and continued walking. After an hour of walking, they stopped. As Neji looked around, he noticed they were in a forest. Something about the forest seemed familiar and than it clicked. Neji realized that they were in the forest Shikamaru first took him to. " What are we doing here?" asked Neji. " I have to give you something." said Shikamaru. As he set Neji down on his feet. Neji turned to face him. Shikamaru dropped his henge. He reached into a hidden pocket on the inside of his inner cloak and produced a necklace. ( A.N neither will see what their necklaces look like.)
Neji stared at the necklace. He was surprised when Shikamaru disappeared and reappeared at his back. As he felt something at his neck, he moved his hair out of the way. Shikamaru walked back around to stand in front of Neji. " What's this for?" asked Neji. Shikamaru smiled. " It's so you can get here when you need to." said Shikamaru Neji was amazed. He knew Shikamaru was okay with him,but to have given him a necklace as a means of access to his place of sanctuary, well it showed Shikamaru was not only was OK with him, but trusted him with his life. " Thank you." said Neji. Shikamaru nodded. " I need to go get Diamond's summoning scroll." said Neji. " Alright." said Shikamaru. Neji ran back towards the village. After ten minutes, he made it back to the compound. He walked inside. As he walked inside, he saw Hiashi slumped against the wall. He walked to his bed and picked up the blanket. He than walked back over to Hiashi and draped the blanket over him.
Neji walked over to the wall across from Hiashi. He placed his hand on the wall and channeled chakra through it and into the wall. The wall opened into a torchlit tunnel. He walked through the tunnel til he came to a door. He once again placed his hand on the door. It opened, into a decent sized room with dark cream colored walls. He walked over to his nightstand and opened the draw. He grabbed the scroll. He than closed the draw and made his way back into the main room.
