Once far enough away, he started to run. Shikamaru decided to try the necklace. He focused his chakra towards the necklace. Soon he felt it pulse and fallowed the pulsing. Soon, he came to the main Hyuuga compound. The seals were down. He walked to the door and knocked. He felt the necklace pulse again and assumed that meant come in. He walked in and saw Neji sitting on the floor, knees pulled up to his chest. He walked over and sat down next to him, draping an arm around his shoulders.
" Is that really how I sound to people?" asked Neji. Quietly. " Yes, But I know the real you." said Shikamaru. Neji started shaking. Shikamaru pulled him into his side. " He was wrong."said Shikamaru. Neji sat there, shaking for the next fifteen minutes. He knew Kiba was brash, but that was cold hearted Suddenly, Shikamaru stood and pulled Neji to his feet. " Lets go train." said Shikamaru. Neji shook his head no. " I can't." said Neji. " Fine, but if you want sit here and be mad go ahead. If you want to take it out on me be my guest if, you can catch me." said Shikamaru. With that, he took off.
Neji didn't know what to do. He was mad at Shikamaru. How dare he openly say he was sitting here being mad. With that, he took off madder then a wet hen. He directed chakra to his necklace. Soon, he felt it pulse. He fallowed the pulsing. The closer he got, the stronger the pulsing. The pulsing lead him to the arena. He ran in and tackled Shikamaru. They rolled to a stop Shikamaru on his back and Neji's hand on his throat. When Shikamaru looked up at Neji he saw his eyes were wild.
Shikamaru smirked. " Aw, are you mad?" asked Shikamaru. He was taunting Neji to make him lose the iron control he had on his emotions. It was working. Shikamaru rolled over on his side underneath Neji and pulled his legs up. He made a fist and rolled back striking Neji in the ribs with the side of his fist. He went flying. He was rolling like a bunch of apples down a hill. He skidded to a stop and stood.
Shikamaru was standing across from him. He felt a chakra burst from Shikamaru. " We have company." said Shikamaru. Neji didn't care. Shikamaru walked around to stand behind Neji. He brought his arms around him, crossing his wrists over his chest. Neji lashed out with his foot, driving his heel into Shikamaru's ankle. Shikamaru let go with a wince, but Neji wasn't done yet. He spun around and kicked out sideways. Shikamaru went down on his back with a grunt. Neji was panting. His eyes were still wild, but they were calmer.
Suddenly, Neji just dropped to his knees and cried. He covered his face with his hands. He was so angry that he lost control. He was suppose to be a Hyuuga with iron control. Suddenly, arms wrapped around him. he clutched at Shikamaru desperately. Shikamaru sat there holding Neji. Shikamaru felt tears gather in his eyes. " He was wrong." said Shikamaru. He could barely get the words out through his tears.
Hiashi stood next to Hayate, the proctor. He watched Neji. He was wondering exactly who had said what to Neji to make him this upset. Hayate watched the two. He couldn't blame either one for getting mad. " Do you blame Neji for losing control emotionally?" asked Hayate. The quiet question startled Hiashi out of his musings. No, I don't blame him. Every Hyuuga has to lose control sometimes." said Hiashi. " Do you?" asked Hayate. It was a simple question, but it made Hiashi go ramrod straight. " I can't afford to. I'm the clan head. We don't have emotions." said Hiashi. The last part was said bitterly, as if he'd swallowed a lemon.
Hayate knew what it was like to hide your emotions. He knew Hiashi needed someone there for him. he vowed to be that person. He couldn't just sit back and let him emotionally decline. He knew there was more to Shikamaru then meets the eye.
