" I forgot to tell you. With the continuous exposure to chakra, you will extremely sensitive to chakra. You can learn recognize a person's specific chakra signature. Keep in mind though, that you will be more susceptible to chakra exhaustion. You will have to call me when it happens. You need some one there that knows." whispered Neji. Into Shikamaru's ear.
Shikamaru nodded against his chest. The other three didn't hear what Neji had said to Shikamaru. Neji unwrapped his arms from Shikamaru and stood. He grabbed Shikamaru's wrist and pulled him to his feet. He stepped up to Shikamaru and pulled him into a hug. Shikamaru's head rested on Neji's shoulder. " My necklace can be used in close proximity. You don't have to be far away to use it. If you need me, send a chakra burst to your necklace, but manipulate your chakra so it hits me like my clan's jutsu, Kaiten. I don't know if your works in close proximity. Nod if it's a yes." whispered Neji.
Shikamaru nodded. Neji unwrapped his arms from Shikamaru and stepped back. Neji walked over to stand at Shikamaru's side. They turned to face the other three. " Are you both alright?" asked Hiashi. Shikamaru and Neji simultaneously nodded. " Is there some reason he's with you uncle?" asked Neji. As he gestured in Hayate's direction. " He comforted me emotionally." said Hiashi. With a small smile. Suddenly, Neji rushed at Hiashi. Hiashi's eyes widened as he felt Neji hug him. He didn't know Neji had this much strength. He wrapped his arms around Neji in turn. " It's about time you had someone you could count on Hiashi." mumbled Neji
" How did you know?" asked Hiashi. Shocked. "I knew because I can see it in your eyes." said Neji. Hiashi's arms tightened around Neji. " You've been through too much, my nephew. I see you as family. Not a lamb to be sent off to their death. It might take me awhile, but please, let me be there for you." said Hiashi.
Neji didn't know what to say to that. He was shocked. " Thank you, Hiashi." said Neji. He unwrapped his arms and stepped back. Neji felt a pair of arms wrap around him. He leaned back into a familiar form. He then looked at Hayate.
Suddenly his eyes were cold and his tone was sharp enough to cut bone. " You hurt him, and I will kill you, slowly." said Neji. " I wouldn't." said Hayate. " But, I don't know that, do I. I don't know you. I trust Gai with him more then I do you. I don't trust you as far as I can throw you." said Neji. His voice had slipped in to a drawl, thick with venom. Hayate felt like he was looking into the eyes of a poisonous snake, ready to kill at a moments notice.
Hiashi stared at Neji in shock. He didn't know where this was coming from. Hiashi was surprised at how protective and defensive Neji was being. Neji's eyes burned into Hayate, burning with hatred. Hayate felt another set of eyes on him. When he finally tore his eyes away from Neji, he saw Shikamaru's. He felt like he was the target of a vulture, ready to tear his flesh into shreds. He looked away.
" Neji, I think we've made our point." said Shikamaru. As he glared at Hayate. Hiashi gaped at Shikamaru. For he'd never heard such an icy tone from a Nara. " I won't let Hiashi get hurt." said Gai. Shikamaru nodded. " We do have to get back." said Hayate. Shikamaru nodded and let his arms drop.
Hiashi, Gai, and Hayate turned around and started running, Neji and Shikamaru right behind them.
" They could be a team you know." said Neji. " What makes you say that?" asked Shikamaru. And then he looked. He saw Gai in front, Hiashi was behind him on his right and Hayate was behind him on his left.
